I am using iTunes 8 and I have suddenly had someone elses library show up under my shared list. I had a Macbook stolen from me about 6 months ago, and I am wondering if this user could be the thief, as I am using the same login for iTunes.

If it is, he's one of yoru neighbors now hitching onto yoru wifi/local network.
as I am using the same login for iTunes.
iTunes login is not required for Sharing.
Go to iTunes prefs -> Sharing and turn off *Look for shared libraries* and *Share my libraries*.
Also, check your router and wifi and make sure your firewalls are turned on.

If you are on Version 11.0.1 rather than 11 Apple put it back in
View > Show Duplicates
Option + View > Show Exact Duplicates
so if you are on 11 upgrade to 11.0.1 and you will have it

If you are getting a new Mac, then there is the migration assistant, I've never used it but it may move iTunes too, it should say in the manual.

Rid your Mac of the adware that is installed. To do that with Safari, go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. Items in music library do not appear in itunes

After the recent updates, several of my iTunes tracks were missing--actually they had been redistributed to "podcasts" and "audiobooks," and a few of the photos were misplaced. A bit of a mess.
Spotlight help relocate most of the files, and I put most everything back in place, but now several of the files that I have returned to the proper location in the music library are not recognized by itunes.
I can play them from the finder, but not in itunes.
Any thoughts about what the problem might be???--permissions have been repaired and the computer has been rebooted.

Here is my situation:
I am having a problem with the latest release of Itunes and my Ipod. I am trying to remove Audiobooks and Podcasts. In the Library while in Itunes I can see a "music" folder which shows all my music files; this use to show all files. Now it just shows music files. I deleted all the podcasts out of my podcast playlist and it did not remove them from my Ipod. I can not figure out how to see everything in one library, rather than this separated system we now see.
Please advise.

I too have just purchased a new pc and want to transfer EVERYTHING from my iPhone to the new pc. I am unable to access my old pc for the files. I do not understand what you mean about two libraries. Can you post a screen shot?

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

I've purchased a new computer and am trying to install my music library onto the new account. however, despite trying to copy files or copy folders from "my music", I am only able to get 95 songs; there should be significantly more.
When I copy a file it is not transfering to the library.

Drag the music from the iTunes media Folder into iTunes.
Use iTunes to Add Folder to Library. Use the ALT key, followwd by the F key and then the D key (that's File/Add Folder to Library) and navigate to the folder and select.

HELP! can't reload music library after having to reload itunes.

Help! My Dell had to be serviced for 'slowness' problems. We backed up my huge song list to a external hard drive. I made the mistake of reloading itunes before I reloaded my library. Upon the first itunes download, it automatically searched my entire computer and found 3 (YES 3!)songs to go into my library (2 came free with the itunes download and one was in a documents file). When I tried to 'import' my song list, it would only import songs 1 by 1!!!!! Yikes! I have 200+ albums and hundreds of other individual songs. I can't spend 10 days re-importing each song.
I tried removing iTunes tonight. I thought if I re-downloaded the program AFTER my music files were loaded, that it would pick them up and add them back to the music library(like it did the first download). However, no such luck. It won't recognize my song list. Please help me re-load my music files to itunes. Greatly appreciated!

Chris, I tried it a different way....to actually drag the music files and folders into the itunes (program screen), not just into it's music folders. Thanks because it's working.

Damaged Music Library (every time I open iTunes)

I am having trouble with my iTunes music library continually getting damaged. At first iTunes 6 started having trouble after upgrading my system to Tiger. I then did a new clean install on my system (including iTunes) because I was also having other problems with the upgrade to Tiger. I was still occasionally finding a damaged library that iTunes could not open and thought the upgrade to iTunes 7.0.1 might help. It didn't, in fact, now every time I open iTunes my music library is damaged and I have to rebuild it. I have a large library 12.6 MB and I have added lots of artwork manually. A friend suggested that some of the art work could be to blame but I don't know how to figure out if that is the cause and if so which ones. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Given that this problem goes back to v6 and even earlier with the install of Yiger, I would recommend that you check your HD as this could be the first sign of trouble.
Insert the Tiger DVD that you used to install, and restart the machine using it and run Disk Utility from there to check the HD.
