ANOTHER podcast problem, I feel so bad

Well I just had help putting podcasts on now it's saying "<filename> was not copied to <iPod name> because it cannot be played on this iPod.
I need to know hat to do, i'm interested in podcasts but this iPod has something against me, I am happy with my iPod though.

If it is a video podcast that you are trying to put on the ipod. Choose that podcast that will not go onto the ipod and at the top of itunes and click on advanced and then convert to ipod.
This will convert the video to a format that the ipod can use.

  • Strong Bad Emails podcast problem

Okay here is my situation. I have had the Strong Bad emails podcast on my iTunes for a while now and had about 7 or 8 episodes. All of a sudden, they won't download anymore. I can download other podcasts, so I know there is a problem only with Strong Bad Emails. I even cleared all of the Strong Bad emails off of my list and tried to resubscribe to it. It won't even subscribe now. Is anyone else having problems with Strong Bad podcasts? Maybe it is just temporarily down or something. Someone please reply because I am not very computer literate and I might really screw something up trying to figure this out!

It might help if someone out there can try and download the Strong Bad Emails podcasts just for a while to see if I am the only one having this problem.

  • Syncing podcasts problems

I have an iPod Touch 2G but have been having problems syncing my podcasts. The sync process does not seem to recognize when a podcast has been listened to on the iPod and will not mark it as read on the master list in iTunes.
This morning I again tried to sync my iPod to eliminate all the read/listened to podcasts from the iPod. I was able to add all the new podcast episodes but nothing got removed and nothing got marked in iTunes as having been listened to. In other words the blue dots were correctly identifying used podcasts on the iPod but would not update my list on iTunes. I tried syncing using all, all new and all unplayed with the same results each time.
When I look at the podcast list on my iPod using it's menu in iTunes everything has blue dots including all my listened to podcasts! Yet, when I check the iPod itself the blue dots correctly identify listened to, partially listened to and not yet listened to status of each podcast.
What I have to do right now is sync the iPod to get all new material installed and then disconnect the iPod from my computer and manually go through each podcast, visually compare titles of each session, see if it was listened to on the iPod and then delete it from the iTunes list. This seems ridiculous!
My old iPod mini used to sync without a problem and I could rely upon iTunes to update and maintain my list of podcasts.
So what setting am I missing to be able to get iTunes to sync and update the status/blue dots on my podcasts?
    Thanks for any help.
    Sue

I suspect you're not missing any setting.
I recently noticed that an episode I had listened to fully and did not have the blue button next to it, suddenly got the blue button back again! No - I'm not imagining it, it was the only episode of that particular programme that I had listened to. It probably happened after a Sync.
There is another slight problem with the Touch though. The Touch has the new feature of a partial blue dot for a part-listened-to episode, which I like very much, but iTunes does not recognise the partial blue dot. When I've checked, iTunes completely removes the blue dot even though the Touch has a partial. Therefore, I keep all episodes on the Touch, to make sure iTunes doesn't think I've finished with it and remove it.

  • N96 Podcast problems - some podcasts have suddenly...

I've recently noticed that some podcasts on my 96 have vanished.  Music player cannot see/list them however they are clearly still on the phone as i can see them via file manager. I've refreshed the music library and it seem these podcasts are totally invisible to the music player now.
Anyone got anything similar or solved it already ??
Oh yes this was occured around the same time as my v20 firmware update.  Alongside another gallery problem i'm having and posted about i'm begining to wonder if version 20 firmware has got inherent bugs in it and messed up my phone.  Any offers ??

Is the music player finding any music at all?
Where are you looking for the podcasts in the Podcast library or as part of the All songs?
It could be that old podcasts may have lost the "podcast" tag when the firmware was updated. Are new podcasts also not being found?

  • When listening to podcasts problems

When listening to podcasts problems. After pausing playback starts listening back 5 - 20 min.

As I mentioned this is a user forum. We are all volunteers. Apple does not read individual submissions unless a ToU violation is reported. If you want help specifically from Apple you need to contact them through Apple Support. When asking for help on these forums its best not to add to an unanswered post with a 'me too' comment but rather with your own post with details of your problem and ask specific questions.
So what have you done to try and troubleshoot the problem yourself? The lack of response suggests to me the problem is rather isolated, a glitch perhaps, to individual devices and not a wide spread bug in the OS. These glitches often occur from a bad install or corrupt data. As such for end users there are a few things you can do to try and resolve software issues and are informally known as the 4R's; Restart, Reset, Restore with back up, and Restore as new. Generally performed in that order. Test your device before going on to the next. Apple has provided the following support articles to help you do those:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

  • Another DVD Problem

I have been working on this for 6 hours over 2 days and have gotten nowhere so I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
I have a HPdv2000.  My DVD stopped working.  I replaced the DVD with a new one and still not working.  The light comes on for a sec at power up but that's it.  I do not have DVD/CD device listed in Device Manager.  I have no upper/lower filter settings.
I have tried to access the BIOS to see if the drive is listed there.  I was able to access the BIOS but have not been able to see a listing of IDE drives including my hard drive.  Perhaps it isn't in the BIOS anymore.
I am not sure where to go from here.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Trip

If I got the results you are describing and given that is a dv2000, I would conclude that the connector on the motherboard for the optical drive is bad. The dv2000, and particularly but not exclusively those with model numbers dv2499 and lower, has problems caused by a bad video chip on the motherboard. The wireless stops working, drives disappear and the video stops working, among other things. There is an nVidia class action involving some dv2000 models and you can google dv2000 nvidia problems and see what I am talking about. Sorry.

  • YAPP (Yet Another Printing Problem)

I've found another printing problem - this time with colour printing.
    To my
surprise, Forte (3.0.E.0) can print in colour (at least on a HP 690C,
    using
NT drivers for the 660C, the printer being connected to a Win95
    machine).
I can print OK with from my NT develpoment machine in colour, but when
    running
the same app from the Win95 client with the printer attached locally the
coloured text disappears. Has anyone else come across this problem?
Is this another of the 'Printing works fine as long as it happens
    non-locally?'
    features?

I wonder if this is related to the printing feature I discovered

the same colours as my windows desktop, which is
    typically yellow-on-black.

  • Podcast Problem 4G Ipod (Desperate)

I know the Ricky Gervais podcast problem has been raised and that updating my firmware may help.
But how do you update when your ipod is in a coma?
Mine does not show in itunes, does not show charging when the charger is plugged in and doesn't respond to reset.
    Anybody have any solutions?
    Pentium 4   Windows XP

Managed to start it eventually after an hour on mains charge (no battery icon showing) with a "menu and select" reset.
Hope this is useful for someone!

  • I have two Airports, one connected to the router and the other one in another room where the connection is bad. How do I get better connection in that room? Merry them?

in another room, where the connection is bad to say the least... How do I get the airports to work together? To marry?

If you have not already done so, configure the AirPort Base Station not connected to the router to "extend" the wireless network created by the other AirPort Base Station. Read this for a more thorough explanation:
Wi-Fi base stations: Extending the range of your wireless network by adding additional Wi-Fi base stations
Take note of the following in the above, which I recommend:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
    As well as the following:
The physical location of extended Wi-Fi base stations will vary according to the building environment and may require some experimentation.
If feasible for your installation, a "roaming network" is the ideal configuration, and precludes the need for experimentation.

  • First 48hrs with N8 problems so far, help badly ne...

I've now had my N8 on Vodafone for a little under 48hrs my oroblems so far.
Phone finds & connects to wireless net works fine, or thats what it says, however whenever I access the internet either from browser or an application including Ovi store it connects via WAP. Wireless net works are set to 1st prority in list yet phone contnually connects via WAP, i've been trying to sort this for hours it's driving me mad. Any help would be appreciated.
Other worrying observations, phone turned it's self off & back on again once for no apparant reason, also when typing info when online for a forum I changed from landscape to portrait & internet connection crashed & retuned to the home screen, finally I've instlled Ovi Suite to my PC but when I connect fone it say Ovi Suite does not recognise the devise, I have phone set to Ovi Suite as default for the USB connection
Have talked to Vodafone & they will replace the phone as it's within seven days of my recieving, however I'm concerned this is a problem that's generic to the phone, has anyone sufferd the same problems/ Is there a means of overcoming them or have a ijust been unlucky & got a dud one. I don't want to replace with another if the problms are generic to N8.
A lot of questions here I know, any help would be greatfully recieved.

An update on my first 48hrs with the N8.
    The Good News.
Thanks to blu_crim WLAN connectivity issues were sorted, not sure why the phone was set to WAP as standard when Nokia make such a big deal of it's WLAN capabilities, anyway no worries as it was just a settings issue.
    The Bad News.
When using my N8 yesterday evening (GMT), I logged onto the internet via the default browser which I assume is the Nokia one despite the Vodafone homepage being it's default homepage (I guess down to it being a Vodafone contract phone). Anyway when I opened the Vodafone home page the N8 turned it's self off. I restarted the phone & it returned to the  N8 home page, I tried to scroll the screen to the other home pages but nothing it would not move, then within seconds it turned off again., this time It's dead it won't turn back on, just a blank screen & no reaction when I press the start button. I've not tried a hard reset & to be honest have no intention of, as far as I'm concerned this thing is going back I have to decide whether to give the N8 another chance & get a direct replacement or jump ship to a either HTC or Iphone. I so want this to be a great phone but experience so far is not good.
It lasted 48hrs almost to the minute before dieing!
Anyone else suffered the same or have I just been unlucky?
    Hi slimswim703
Just to let you know, you are not on your own. My N8 switched off on Friday night while I had it on charge, It did not turn back on until the morning. It has been OK since Saturday but has now (Thursday 28th)  decided to give up again. I will try it again in the morning, but I feel that this is not acceptable, and the only course of action will be to return the phone!
Hope you have more luck with yours.

  • Another headache - "problem during multiplexing/burning - buffer underun"

    Hello,
After many iDVD issues, I finally got the burning process of my DVD project.. half way through it spit my DVD out and gave me these errors:
"Errors were found during the burning process:
The recording device reported the illegal request: Buffer underrun. (0x21, 0x02.)
There was a problem during multiplexing/burning."
What is this supposed to mean and how can I just burn my DVD?!
    Thank you
    Chris

It's been awhile since I had this error crop up, but I know 2 things that caused it for me.
    1) Bad DVD media. It happened a lot when I was using some cheap, off brand DVD-R's. More expensive Sony DVD's (white) are much better and more consistent. The time wasted with bad burns from bad DVD media is not worth the time.
    2) It could even be a problem with your DVD burner going bad, but not as likely. I did have one SuperDrive replaced because I started having problems even with good, recommended brands of DVD media. However, try getting some better media first. Don't buy a lot. Try out a small package of DVD-R's or buy a disc from a friend to try out a brand.
Another possibility: Lack of sufficient, free hard drive space. Here's what iDVD 6's help file states:
"When you burn a DVD, iDVD needs temporary space on your hard disk to store the encoded files for your project. To burn your iDVD project to a single-layer DVD disc, you should have 8-10 gigabytes (GB) of free disk space on your hard disk, depending on the size of your project. For double-layer discs, you need 15-20 GB of free disk space."
Apple's support forum describes "buffer underrun" in more detail at:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25750
You might also want to defragment your hard drive (with a 3rd party utiility such as TechTool Pro) so that you don't have a fragmented hard drive when burning a project.
Speed rating of the DVD media- I've seen reports that some SuperDrives work best with media rated the same as it's maximum burn speed (e.g.- 4x, 8x, etc). I would recommend trying to find media that matches your SuperDrive burn speed, or no more than twice the burn speed.
    I hope this helps.
You didn't mention which version of iDVD you were using or which operating system. Sometimes other users have tips for you based on that info.

  • Yet another printing problem 'EOF' errors

This problem is probably both a Leopard and Adobe problem combined. It's a rather complicated problem, but the bottom line is that (to most printers) the jobs coming out of one of our Mac Pros cause the printers to crash and restart themselves giving an 'EOF Error (End of File)' on at least one of them. The problem also appears to affect PDF documents created in InDesign which will then cause the same errors on any computer it is printed from.
Things you may need to know and that I've already tried:
    • The same printers with the same drivers printing the same files will work on other Mac Pros of the same version with the same version of Leopard.
    • Using a generic driver will print properly, however this is not a workaround because we need duplexing provided by the driver and I'm not sure how this could fix the PDF problem.
    • Fonts have been disabled and checked with Font Doctor.
    • Starting up in 'Safe Mode' will allow printing, but without fonts or links on server volumes.
    • Switching the hard drive with another identical Mac Pro brought the problem with the HD, worked on other. In other words, the problem is definitely in the software and not a hardware problem.
    • Reset the printing system numerous times.
    • Re-installed the OS, Adobe CS3, and a couple of documents - same problem with no added extensions. Other computer with tons of extensions and fonts, etc. - no problem.
    • Plain text documents print fine.
    • Some PostScript documents will print, but rarely.
    • Will not print to HP LaserJet 2420, Minolta Di650 Fiery, ABDick Platemaker.
    • WIll print to Kodak DigiMaster (three different models and versions)
Everything that I think sounds like it could be the problem is disproved by the fact that several other Mac Pros with the exact same configuration have no problem. I'm thinking about cloning another Mac Pro system that works and seeing if I can go about it that way.
Apple support was no help. Nor was Adobe. They tried to be helpful, but there is no logic to solving this one. This has been going on for over a week now and I've tried so many things. It's driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It was actually just a commonly used font that had gone bad somehow. Problems like that are always fonts or links. Sometimes they just aren't as obvious. We thought we'd checked everything and it affected so many of her files because she used the font so often.

  • Another interlace problem?

I am editing 2 thesis films for school, and wasnt the one to capture the footage. It was shot on the cannon xl2 but im pretty sure it wasnt advanced, it was just regular 24p. Nobody in class has been able to figure out why some shots (when there is movement) seem to have this interlacing problem. Horizontal lines on all the edges of objects. I know there are other threads on this but i didnt find the answer in them. I cant recapture all this footage, just don't have time. If 24p is captured at 29.97 does this happen? Should my editing timebase be 23.97? I feel like an idiot not being able to figure this out. Oh it looks fine when its playing from the timeline, its only bad when exported. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did the reading, and understand what timebase I am editing in, and what framerate the clips were recorded and captured in. They all seem to be correct. Maybe interlacing was the wrong term. When a quicktime file is exported, upon viewing, horizontal stripes are seen whenever there is motion in the frame. I know that it should not look like that. The footage was recorded 24p captured 29.97 and editied 29.97. Your feedback was good information for me but has not solved the problem. I did try converting a file with cinema tools earlier and it really screwed up my sequence, so I abandoned that alltogether. I also gave up on that because i now know that it should stay 29.97.
