Another printer discovery issue

1. Fresh install of Leopard server 10.5.1 on my spare Mac Mini. Runs great. Stand alone directory, etc.
2. Plug in HP 930C USB printer. Go to print and Fax, printer is there and the default
3. Note in help, that I should be able to select the printer in the list, and then select share this printer.
I have no such option.
From my iMac (new) I see the server (for other uses) but no printers available.
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance...

HI,
do you use standard or workgroup mode, or do you use advanced mode on your server? in later case, you need to enable the "Printing" service in ServerAdmin and follow the document on the resources homepage of mac os x server to install printer queues. if you do not run your server in advanced mode, don't start ServerAdmin to try what I posted, this could ruin your installation with ease!

  • Print quality issues

    Hello
We are having print quality issue when printing PDF's to our Canon iR C2880/C3380 UFR II.  This was the most recent print driver from canons website which was download about 6 weeks ago. version 2.9.  At one time we were having other pring quality issues and we changed from the post script driver to the ufr ii which solved the problem at the time.
This past saturday we upgrade the operating systems on the systems in question and they are now running windows 7 64 bit with service pack 1 installed. image 1 is the orignal pdf that was printed with a 3rd party pdf printer(PDF Xchange view version 2.5)  image 2 is the same document that was printed using acrobat reader 10.1.2
the options for the print were pretty much identical between the program.  Print as image was not selected.  1 thing to note with the acrobat when  print as image was selected there was a slight improvement in the print quality.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

  • HP 6600 Scan\Print Driver Issue for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    Hello,
For some time now I have been unable to scan or print from my desktop (Windows 7 Professional 64bit) and I have exhausted too much effort and am now bringing it to the masses.
    The problem:
Printing:  Currently receiving an "Error - Offline" message in my printer queue at all times.
Scanning:  Scanning has never fully worked on this desktop. I am always unable to communicate with the printer. (Though webscan works through accessing the printers IP address)
    Things I have tried:
Ran HPPSDr, followed directions (Unpluged power to printer, turn back on, restart computer) brings me to this website after it cannot fix. (Note that while the HPPSDr is running it always notions that there is a driver problem)
Uninstalled Drivers from CD-ROM, re-installed, countless times
Installed "Windows 7 Pro 64 bit drivers" from the HP website and uninstalled, countless times.
Attempted to set a static IP and use "Update IP Address" to point specifically at the printers IP.
Installed Drivers and finding the printer myself through it's own static IP address.
Turned off firewall and attempted to print (after reboot), same errors
Setting up the printer on all of my laptops (3) wirelessly to attempt to find if there is a problem with the printer or static IP. (1 is Windows VISTA 32bit and the other 2 are Ubuntu 32bit). All laptops are able to use the printer wirelessly without any problems.
Read all of the forums about this issue and attempted all of the 'solutions'. Although I mostly don't see that anyone with this same problem is resolved, unless I'm missing the perfect post.
    Things I have not tried:
Plugging the USB directly into the desktop. (This seems self defeating as the purpose for this printer was to be able to print wirelessly to it from across the room)
Re-installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit (Trying to avoid this, would rather just print from laptops)
    You tell me
    Curiosities:
I have noticed strange things that make me believe the driver is somehow incomptable with my OS. Here is a shot of the properties of the printer:
Weird that it is not recognizing the model number.
Also in the Printer Settings when I go to the port tab, there is no port selected, if I try and tab away it forces me to select a port, yet when I do and 'apply' and then re-open the Printer Settings in the ports tab; it has again unselected the previously selected port.
    Theories:
I feel like my OS is just refusing to notice the IP address for the wireless printer, no matter what I have it set to, even if it's dynamic. It's like the driver for Windows 7 Pro 64bit is actually not the correct driver for my system.
Anyways, another thing to mention is that I am not currently willing to wipe my operating system and re-install Windows 7 Pro in order to resolve this just yet. I want to see if anyone else has any other avenues I can try before even beginning to consider that.
Anyways, thanks in advance for taking the time to read my ramblings and hopefully someone who has resolved this issue can help me.

    Hi Zerosouls,
I understand you are having an issue with HP 6600 Scan\Print Driver Issue for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
First try to click the Windows icon, type services in the Search box, and then click or tap View Local Services. Scroll down to the Windows Installer. Startup type should be - Automatic, and Service Status should be - started
Restart the computer after this step and try installing Hp Officejet 6600 again.

  • Printing CM Issue

I was pleased to find that I can now print from LR 1.1 directly to QTR using CM and QTR Create-icc RGB profiles without crashing (always crashed in 1.0). However, there is still a problem with CM in LR 1.1 when using these profiles. Prints are flat and muddy with low contrast (using either perceptual or relative intent). Same file and profile produces perfect prints when printed from CS3 with perceptual intent and BPC on. I can also get a good print by first converting the image file to the QTR Create-icc profile in CS3 and then printing from LR 1.1 with CM turned off (eg. "printer managed"). It seems to me that LR is not using the icc profile correctly when rendering for printing. Is there a CM fix in the works for the next release?

Hi there @comicsans , welcome to the forums!
I am responding to your post about the printing issue you seem to be having, as your print outs seem to offset by 5cm when printing in landscape, and all print settings and the print preview are and appear to be correct.
I am going to let you know what my personal suggestions are and some steps you could try that might help you.
To start with, you can use this troubleshooting guide that will bring you through steps to help with print quality issues. I am thinking that the printer may need an alignment. The test print you'll print out will show you the results if the printer itself has an issue.
Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer Series (C309)
If the test print from the above guide shows no issues, the problem could be within the program you're printing from or a driver conflict.
You can try Uninstalling the Printer Software , restarting your computer, and then reinstalling the printer driver and software. To get the driver you need, click this link, select your operating system, driver and download: HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g Drivers
It's also a good idea to try printing from another program, which will rule out if one program is solely the problem.
Feel free to let me know your findings and results!
I hope my post was informational, enjoy your Thursday

  • Photoshop CS6 printing size issue

I'm having a strange issue. Just upgraded to CS 6 and was able to print with no issues for a few weeks.
Yesterday I tried to print a file I had printed the day prior with no issus, to find that the document size appearing in the print dialogue box was VERY large. My document size is 11x17 with a resolution of 300, and the print box shows it as a tiny image in the middle of a page 77.264 in x 49.986 in.
If I try to print this scale, nothing shows up on my printer. If I fit to scale and try to print the document size, it's printing huge (400% larger)
My print settings are correct, thought maybe it was a driver issue but I'm having the same issue on another printer I use, so it seems to be coming from Photoshop. I trashed my preferences on startup, but the issue remains. I can't figure out what's going on. Here's a screen shot
Additional info: Other documents having the same issue in Photoshop CS6 when trying to print.
Document prints fine in CS5 and Illustrator CS6.

  • Print Spooler Issue

I recently became unable to print.  My printer is installed and drivers updated, but I get an error when I try to print that tells me my Print Spooler Service is not running, and I cannot start it.
    Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit
    HP Touchsmart 310PC
    Error Popup:

Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on local computer.
Error 1053: This service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++
Running diagnostics/troubleshooting does not resolve this issue.
When trying to print from some applications I get an error that says "No Default Printer Found.  Please choose a printer a try again".  I cannot choose another printer because of the spooler error.
    Any suggestions?

  • Any fix for the PC based network printer communication issue with Mavericks?

Any fix for the PC based network printer communication issue with Mavericks?

I just signed up for FIOS and am not experiencing your problem (had enough other ones instead).
Go to mail preferences ~ click on a mail account ~ click on the advanced tab. The only settings that worked for me were: port 110 SSL OFF, authentication: Authenticated POP (APOP). If I remember correctly when I first set this up another window opened and I typed in my password and never had to do that again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Black ink not printing - printhead correctly prints in another printer

Black not printing. (All HP inks) Replaced head - black still not printing.  Tested head in another HPprinter - works fine. Please answer -  Is there software, wiring, physical issue with the black only?  (Tried rebooting printer and cleaning already)

Hi , I understand that you are having issues with the black not printing, you have replaced the printhead in another printer and it prints fine. I would like to help you.
I am assuming that you used the same cartridges in the printhead when trying them in another printer, let me know if you didn't please. Since the new printhead works in another unit, it looks like it would be a hardware issue with the printer and it would need to be serviced. I have provided all the documentation for resolving this issue, most likely all the steps were done previously. Documentation for resolving the black not printing: Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart Premium C309a... This document provides instructions for manually cleaning the cartridge contacts.'Ink Cartridge Problem - The Following Ink Cartridge(s) Appear to Be Missing or Damaged' Message Dis... Here is a document for manually cleaning the printhead.'Printhead Problem' or 'Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged' Message Displays on the Computer... Please Contact HP Support for further assistance. • Hp Color Laser Jet 5550dn Print Quality Issues

    Good Afternoon,
I have a Hp Color Laser Jet 5550dn that has some print quality issue.  I've attached a black and white scan, but the color is a light blue to blue that form the blotches.  On the back of the page there are blue and pink streaks.
I can print more sample pages or print them in color, but anyone have any idea what could be going on here?

We are encountering a similar problem. The streaking is coming fromt the Cyan cartridge and has continued for over a year now, despite numerous cartridge changes and replacing the transfrer case. It is progressively getting worse and I have yet to find a solution to this problem online. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

  • Plug in Manager released today doesn't fix print settings issue

The download page says it improves reliability in Aperture and other apps. But it didn't fix the print settings issue in Aperture. I sent feedback on the problem. Try to hit the print settings button after hitting command P. If you have Aperture 2 and the latest security update the settings won't come up. Look at the top of the list for the Plug In Manager update.

Hopefully an update fixes this. I have had this problem for a long time, tried many different fixes, no luck. Horizontal scrolling works in IE9 however.

    Hello All,
The printer goes offline due to proper driver is not installed correctly or if the printer port is not selected correctly.
I would suggest that you check the printer port (if the printer is connected via USB then chck if you have selected USB001,002... OR DOT), if the printer is connected via Network then check if the printer is selected via TCP/IP and then check the results.
Alternatively, you may uninstall and reinstall the driver and then check the results.
