Another problem wit terminal server

Hi.
One of our customers decided to step forward to Windows 2008.
We installed our .net application in the Programs (x86) folder and compiled it with x86 as destination CPU.
We use Visual Studio 2005, CR XI Release 2 Pro, MSSQL 2005
Most of the Reports are working correctly but some get no connection and show a login window.
What the **** could be the reason for this?

@Jonathan:
Regarding licensing, up to now my state of knowledge was, that I am allowed to give the redist.exe and the *rpt files to customers who are in posession of a CR license themselves ...
References in the VS2005 project are version 10.2.3600
Deployed: as EXE together with *.RPT; Crystal Reports for .Net Framework 2.0 (x86)
Data: MSSQL 2005
What is different: if I would know that, I've probably had it fixed ... about 10 Reports are running, two are not. One has two subreports, the other one has not.
But - however - regarding Ludeks Post from yesterday we have to get CR 2008 and a deployment license as soon as possible.

  • Adobe Connect Add-in problems on terminal server

Windows 2003 Terminal server, IE7 and Flash version 10,0,12,36 using the Adobe hosted service
Were having problems with the add-in prompting to install though it has been. The add-in was “pre-installed” using the standalone package from the console as an Administrator.
The problem is that having launched a meeting the Administrator can use the add-in, but all other users are prompted to download \ install the add-in (again).  Attempting to download the add-in fails with “A download error occurred, try downloading again”. There are no related errors recorded in the event logs on the server.
I've made calls to numerous Adobe support tel #s in an attempt to get support, or at least some response. Other than giving me another number to call, no one seems interested .

Rob, it sounds like port 1935 is being blocked. Can you verify that that port is open?
Have you gone to the Test Your Computer page for your connect account. After the diagnostics run, choose to send and email and then click on the details... link to see the results of the test.
Here is a link to that page for our hosted account, if that makes it easier: http://realeyesconnect.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm
If needed, Connect only requires FP 10.3 or newer. If it comes to it, an older version of the Flash Player can be tested.

  • HP LaserJet P1006 Driver problems, 2008 Terminal Server

I have a few P1006 LaserJets and have not had much success with them since we have moved them onto thin clients. They were on full XP machines and now they are hooked to XP thin clients. The printers install on the thin clients and can print from the thin clients fine, but when they connect to the terminal server they can get maybe one page to print at best.
We are running Windows Server 2008 for terminal services and I am using the latest version of the printer driver from the HP website on both the thin clients and the server. The driver is the 4/18/2008 or 1.0.5 version.
The driver works fine when printing locally, but when there is a redirected job from a terminal session they get maybe one page before the spooler crashes. The driver loads when they start their remote session and the printer is available (the drivers are signed so the system seems to like them). Unfortunately the Easy Share Print Driver doesn't work at all so that doesn't help.
It seems there is just enough difference between the XP and Vista kernel versions of the driver to cause problems. It's possible someone sharing this printer on an XP machine and trying to print to it from a Vista desktop would have similar problems.
    Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. The local computer is running Vista Business with a P1006 attached via USB. The user remotes (using RDP through an HP MediaSmart Server) into another Vista Business machine. The user can print one document, then nothing. I checked the remote computer's printer queue and there were no jobs listed. I checked the local computer's printer queue and there were over 600 jobs. The user did try to print several times, but certainly not that many times.
I cleared the queue by doing right-click - Run as Administrator - Cancel All Documents. But, I still can't print anything, not even a test page. I had to reboot the computer.
So something is definitely wrong with the drivers for this printer.
Are these forums monitored by HP, or just the community?

  • HP T410 All-In-One (H2W21AA) serious RDP problem with terminal server

Hi there! The scheme is this:
    HP T410 All-In-One (H2W21AA)
firmware that was out-of-the-box got some graphical problems with RDP, so i updated the Smart Zero Core Image to the latest Z6A44019 Rev. 1 (11 dec 2013). Graphical problem gone, but new, much more unpleasant problem emerged.
This thin client is connected to Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, all updates are up-to-date. Terminal Server.
    the steps:
    - i connect from my machine (W7SP1x64 with latest updates) via RDP (mstsc.exe or tsmmc.mmc - doesn't matter) to the terminal server
    - i open up the remote desktop services manager, right click on the user that's connected from the T410
    - i hit "remote control" button
    - for a moment i see some bits of user's desktop, but in less than a second my RDP session drops with the following error:

  • Problem with Photoshop hangs/freezing for users on a terminal server

    Dear Forum!
I'm having some trouble with Photoshop freezing over a period of ~20 minutes when you (1.) user the eraser with special brushes and (2.) copy and paste material from a PDF to Photoshop. As you might notice by the size of this post i'm getting quite depserate over here and need some help.
    A Little background information...
Photoshop CS6 is installed on a terminal server with ~25 Active users where 3 of them are using Photoshop.
The operating system on the server is Windows Server 2012 R2.
There are no additional add-ons just a plain installation of Photoshop in that matter.
The server uses 40-60% of the memory most of the time (mostly a bit less, some times a bit more but never 100%) and 40% of the CPU.
There's enough space free on the disc.
    The problem in detail...
There are two occasions where the freezing has occured most of the time. After it hangs for the first time, it will happen everytime you do any of the operations over a period of ~20 minutes and it's Mutual for all users. When it freezes, the whole terminal session freezes but the program i still responding (it's not getting set to "not responding") when viewed from Another user through the task manager. Ending the process as an administrator sometimes work, although from the moment i end he proces it takes about 10-60 seconds Before the program actually Closes and the user gets back Control. The easiest thing to do most of the time is if an administrator forces them to log out.
    1. The first occasion is when you use the eraser with a brush that's not standard but manually added. The names of the brush packages used are:
    Extacy__Elemental
    KKC_Fractal
    Kornkid's_Grunge_Set
and the problem is with all brushes inside those packages. The way i evoke the problem is the following:
         1. Start Photoshop
         2. Create new
         3. Fill the background with any color
         4. Select the eraser tool
         5. Change the brush to one of the ones mentioned above
         6. Program freezes
    2. The second scenario when the problem occurs is when the users copy something from a PDF to Photoshop. The way i evoke this is:
         1. Open a PDF
         2. Select area and copy it
         3. Open Photoshop
         4. Create new
         5. Paste into Photoshop
         6. Program freezes
Solutions we have tried so far...
I've been working on this for several round now and i'm not entirely sure on what exactly i have done. I will try and do the following solutions once more but i'm pretty sure that i have tried most of them.
    Update graphic card drivers.
    Resetting all Tools:
         1. Select options for a tool
         2. choose "Reset all Tools"
    Resetting presets:
         1. Hold ctrl + shift + alt while Photoshop is starting
         2. select "yes"
Tested if it matters if i have a pen connected or not, which it doesn't.
Removed the special brushes (but it still freezes when copy/paste from PDF)
Removed "save in background" and "automatically save recovery information" options
    Updated to latest version.
    Turned off OpenGL
Solutions i haven't, but will try...
    Reinstall Photoshop
    Change font preview size
         1. Go to "type"
         2. select "Font prview size"
         3. select "none"
    Delete system font cache
Close all Adobe applications including the Creative Cloud desktop app (if installed).
    Navigate to \Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\Appdata\Local
Delete the *FNTCACHE*.DAT or *FontCache*.dat files.
NOTE: The asterisk (*) indicates various numbers, letters, or words, such as FontCache-S-1-5-21.dat or COFFfntCache.dat.
    Delete Photoshop font cache
Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app (if installed).
    Navigate to the appropriate folder
    Photoshop CS6 and earlier.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe
    Windows 7: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe
    Photoshop CC and CC 2014
    Windows 7 and 8: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC or CC 2014
         3. Delete the TypeSupport folder (Photoshop CS6 and earlier) or the CT Font Cache folder (Photoshop CC and CC 2014), and empty the trash.

    Hi Mylenium!
Thanks for your reply but since the users work on the terminal server via remote dektop the only data sent through the network is a "Picture" of what is happening on the server. All the operations are handled on and by the server and nothing is executed on the users local machine. Also all files are stored on the server therefore the load on the network is minimum.
We are not the first in the World to run this setup and i know that this is possible to do since i've read about others running PS like this.

  • Problem with starting devices at terminal server

    Hi all,
I got a problem I can't solve at my terminal server.
In order to provide the Java ME SDK for home office use i installed it at our terminal server (Win2003Server Standard 32Bit) as administrator.
Our developers access it via RDP.
Now I got a strange effect: when I open an application in a device I get this error message:
    SCHWERWIEGEND [org.openide.util.RequestProcessor]
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at org.netbeans.modules.javame.platform.jme_sdk.autoinstaller.AutoInstaller$4.run(AutoInstaller.java:242)
    at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Task.run(RequestProcessor.java:573)
    [catch] at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Processor.run(RequestProcessor.java:1005)
No device window appears. At least not at my remote desktop. The window opened at another active remote desktop. It seems, this is the reason of the broken communication.
Now we are wondering how to install the SDK to prevent us from that effect.
Did anybody face a behavior like that and give me advice?
    Thanks

  • Move Terminal server licenses to another server

We have one terminal server VM hosted in hyper v server. currently there is a problem with the hyper v server hdd and we might need to rebuild the whole server. We would like to setup a new terminal server on a new server. The existing terminal server is
windows server 2003. After I fresh setup the Windows server 2003 VM in a new server, how do I move the terminal server license to a new server? FYI, we would like to decommission the old terminal server. But we would like to do it in parallel as there are
many users are still accessing to the old terminal server.
    Thanks so much.
    Regards,
    Henry

    Hi Henry,
First you need to gather your licensing paperwork, authorization number(s), license number(s), etc. for your existing licenses.  This step is critical.
Next install RD Licensing on the replacement 2003 server, Activate it using Terminal Server Licensing (licmgr.exe), then install the TS CALs.  If you receive an error when installing the old TS CALs please contact the Clearinghouse and explain
to them you need to install the TS CALs on a new server because the old one is being decommissioned.
How to locate a telephone number for the Microsoft Clearinghouse
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291795
Once you have confirmed that the old TS CALs are installed on the replacement 2003 TS then make sure your 2003 TS is set to the correct Licensing mode (to match the type of TS CALs) and you have Specified the name of the new RD Licensing server.
You do this in Terminal Services Configuration (tscc.msc) on the replacement terminal server.
As an alternative you could install the existing TS CALs on a newer RD Licensing server such as Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, etc.  You still will need to have the authorization number(s), license number(s), etc. for the existing 2003 TS CALs.

    Hi,
We are running a Terminal Services server with Windows Server 2008 and have successfully installed many programs that end users can run via Remote Applications and they all work.
I have recently installed Dreamweaver on the Terminal Server, but failed at the first hurdle as I could not get it to run on the terminal server logged on as administrator.  I click on the link to the program & nothing happens, when I check in Task Manager there is nothing listed in the list of applications, but dreamweaver is running as a process. If I click on it again, I get another process running, and so on...
We have a site license for the whole CS3 Design Premium set of programs and we usually run the installed program, enter the license key when prompted then all other installed CS3 programs run on that workstation. However, I cannot even get this program to prompt for the license key.

  • Zen 3 + Terminal server problem

    Hi,
We have 3 MS terminal server (1xNT, 1xWin2000 and 1xWin2003) machines that
are attached to our novell network all of which we have the same problem
with Zen delivered applications. Applications will launch ok unless we use
Zen application metering in which case we get the error message :-
"Unable to get attributes for application object [app.apps.bio](id=-309)"
The odd thing is if you log in on the console it is fine, if you log in via
a terminal session we get the above message.
    We are running :-
Netware 5.1sp7 on our servers with DS.NLM version 8.85c
    Zenworks 3.0 sp1
The terminal servers are running the following clients :-
    NT 4.83 SP2
    Win2000 4.90
    Win2003 4.90 SP2
Thes applications run fin on a normal workstation, as does the licensing
    component.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this ? Other than "don't use
    licensing".
    Thanks.

To follow up my own post in case someone else has the same problem, turns
out the license certificates that you create in NWAdmin, have to be in the
*SAME* container as the license server object. Odd that it worked fine on
normal workstations, just not on the Terminal server. Anyway it's working
    now :)

  • Problem with Adobe Pro and Reader on terminal server

    Hi,
We have have a Terminal Server environment with Adobe Pro and Reader. We have security for Adobe Pro, so only certain user has access to Adobe Pro and all users has access to Adobe Reader.
Some users receive many email with pdf's attachments in Outlook and need to print these attachments. They use the Outlook function to print email and attachment automatically. The users who has access to Adobe Pro can print attachment automatically with no problem.
The problem is user who only have access to Adobe Reader. The user can't print attachment automatically with the email, only the email is printed. But, they can open attachment and print with Adobe Reader. But, it's impossible to open each attachment because there are so many.
    Thanks for your help.
    Jonathan

    Hi,
    So if I understand correctly,
    1. You have installed Acrobat Pro & Reader on a Terminal server.
    2. You have created a security group in your Active Directory Users & Computers for users having access to Acrobat
    3. You have set permissions on C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe and C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Acrotray.exe on the terminal server and provided access only to the security group created above.
    4. Users are accessing the Terminal server through RDWeb or connecting remotely through MSTSC (RDP) or using a .RDP file
    5. Users get emails with PDF attachments and print the mail directly without opening the PDF in Reader.
Users check the box to print the attachments with the mail (see snapshot below):
    Some questions:
    1. What is the OS and platform (x86 or x64) of the terminal server?
    2. What are the versions of Acrobat & Reader on the terminal server?
    Thanks,
    Vinod

  • Terminal server move to another server

    Hello,
I have 2 windows server 2003 standart (terminal server) and I want to move these servers to another Windows server 2008 r2.
how I can migrate user profiles and folders? I look for USMT but usmt does not support windows server 2003. also I checked robocopy, it take error. I need advice. How I can do this goal with min. effort?

    Hi,
The 2003 Terminal Server uses v1 user profile structure. The 2008 R2 Terminal Server uses v2 user profile structure.
Based on my experience, if they are local profiles, there is no out-of-box way to support the automatic migration. You may need to manually migrate the data into the new profile locations.
The following thread is discussing on the similar requirement:
Term Server 2003(32bit) migration to new Term Server 2008(64bit) box
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS/thread/73268ddf-82fe-4274-abf5-3539670c7468
If they are roaming profiles, you can try the steps in the article below.

  • Problem with Acroabt X Pro and Terminal Server 2008r2

I have deployed Acrobat x Pro on a 2008 R2 Terminal Server.  Everything was going great but a while back I had to reapir the OS and re-install Acrobat and a few other Programs because of a minor virus.  I have confirmed everything is running fine and that the virsu is gone.  However, since then users prefernces and settings have not loaded up when they open up acrobat.  The pfx file is still there for all users it is simply not loading along with the rest of thier prefernces.  Has anybody seen this before and does anybody have a fix for it?
    Message was edited by: Skywalker32

    Hi Skywalker32,
I think Sabian is on the right track, well other than his nomenclature  being incorrect. The way Acrobat/Reader works is the list of digital ID files are store in the registry like in the example above (except you'd be looking for 10.0 in the path and either Adobe Acrobat for your Acrobat users or Acrobat Reader for the Reader users).
So with that in mind, are you using a GPO to push the individual PFX files and are you using the Adobe Installation Wizard to customize the application (Acrobat or Reader) installs? I'm just trying to get a handle on what's in play here. Also, I thought that maybe the digital ID file location could be set as a lockable preference in the HKLM portion of the registry, but they can't so if that's what you are trying to do via the installation wizard that could be a problem (not that I think you are, I'm just taking a shot in the dark here).
    Thanks,
    Steve
