Another request for P55-GD80 new build advice

Hello! This is my first time using an MSI motherboard and I was hoping to get some advice for when I put my system together. My old system was ~14 months old - I added some RAM just before xmas and I'm pretty sure I fried the mobo due to static. Anyway, since I was going to be replacing the motherboard, I decided to upgrade the entire system.
Here's what I ordered last week...
MSI P55-GD80 motherboard
Patriot Viper II PVV34G1600LLKB, 8-8-8-24, 1.65V (two 4x2gb kits)

Everything else will be from my "old" system (including the PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W EPS12V power supply). Since I won't be able to boot from my old Vista HDD, I was planning to start with the SSD and a fresh install of Win 7. After that, I'll add in my old "C:" boot drive as a slave along with the other 2 slave/data HDDs from my old system. This is all going into a Lian Li full tower case so space/airflow for the HDDs shouldn't be an issue.
A few questions about my setup...
SATA setup: I'm going to have a total of 6 SATA II drives (1x SSD, 3x HDD and 2x DVD±R). Is there any advantage to using all 6 "black" SATA ports for everything vs using the two "blue" SATA ports for my DVD drives? I work with photography/graphic design and it's possible that I could be adding another data HDD sometime in the future. All HDDs are the same brand but different sizes and I will not be running any type of RAID configuration.
OC Genie: I plan to use the OC Genie feature on this motherboard. Will I need to change anything in BIOS (specifically- RAM settings) or will the OC Genie take care of everything for me with the push of a button? I realize that the OC Genie won't give me "cutting edge" OC performance but I'm not knowledgeable (or brave) enough to go into BIOS and do everything manually. I want some increased performance but stability is more important.
BIOS #1: Is there anything else in the BIOS that I need to be aware of when setting my new system up?
BIOS #2: I have no idea which version of the BIOS is going to be on this motherboard. Is there a certain version I want right away or should I set up the system with whatever version is installed and only upgrade if it's not performing correctly?
I looked through some posts on the first few pages of this forum and didn't see answers to my questions. If I missed something, I'm sorry for the duplication. Also, I apologize in advance if any of these are "dumb" questions. I've built my last 3 systems over the past 8 years, and each time I build a new one it seems like I try to push the envelope a little further, and thus I run into technical issues that are over my head. I thought this time it might be wise to try to get some info before I experience (or create) any problems with this new setup. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Sorry to bump my own thread. I put everything together and I'm having a problem that hopefully someone can help me with.
I flashed the BIOS from 1.4 to 1.6 and now when I boot I get a CMOS CHECKSUM BAD. I'm able to F1 to BIOS setup and then exit into Windows but I'd like to get this fixed. I have not done anything to OC the system yet - everything is running stock. Do I need to reset the CMOS on the board? I did not do that after flashing.

I have the AT&T variant of the Lumia 830 and am waiting for a firmware update to fix two issues. However, there has been no communication as to when this firmware update will be released. I have only a short window to return this device and if I do not know when the firmware will be released, I would prefer to return it now and buy something else rather than waiting for several months. Let me be clear. I'm looking for specific availability dates and not a vague assurance that it's coming "soon" and that I should keep checking to see if it's out. Thanks for replying. While I was half-hoping that my lengthy plea might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, I can't say I honestly expected AT&T to change their policy and suddenly start delivering more timely releases of firmware updates with greater transparency about the process. As for me, I only had a small window of time to return the handset to AT&T. Having heard nothing, I figured that the safest course of action was to buy a carrier-unlocked RM-985 from a reputable retailer. After it shows up tomorrow, I'll still have time to return the AT&T variant. With Windows Phone 10 arriving shortly, this should ensure that I get that upgrade at least a month or two before users with the AT&T branded device. I'll also be able to lower the monthly bill, so that's a big side benefit. It's unfortunate that this is how AT&T operates. I imagine that they get more than a few returns of the device from people who couldn't get Netflix working and this has to be costing them some money. It certainly makes Windows Phone/Microsoft look bad as well, although they did ship the device with buggy firmware in the first place, even if they did provide a fix. Supposedly with Windows 10, Microsoft will no longer be allowing carriers to block phone updates, so the situation should improve. M

990FXA GD80 new build

Hello All:
I have put together an AMD FX 4300 with a Zahlman HSF and the 990FXA GD80. Using 4 known good Corsair XMS3 8GB RAM sticks and an HIS Radeon R9 290 video card the result does not post. In an attempt to eliminate any problems, I have removed the hard drive and all other devices. I have swapped out PSUs with no luck. Upon power-on all fans spin, all MB leds light, and the debug read out shows 8_ immediately without going through any other numbers. It the just sits there in that state until I cut the power.
Does any one have some suggestion as to how I can get this to work?

I had a similar experience last night. First off, MSI RMA'd my GD80 with no problems and it went very quickly. I also RMA'd a Seasonic PSU the same day and still have not heard back from them. Thank you MSI.
Anyway, I got the GD80 back and was bringing it up to speed with a 9590. Got 4.7 stable and went for 4.8. I use IBT AVX for stress testing and had just started a run when POP it went dead like flipping a switch. I reset the bios and got nothing. Well all the lights and fans turned on and the LED showed a FF code.
The lights were on but nobody was home. The FF code means it is going to post and is Fully Functional. Unless it does not post. The it means Fully Fracked.
A search of FF code found one person with a bad PSU, one with a bad motherboard, and one with a bad CPU. I have just replaced the motherboard and PSU, so dropped an 8350 in there.
It runs perfectly. My 9590 popped.

A (reasonable) request for Linux

Hi Adobe Team (specially Chris Cox, who takes a lot of time in this requests),
I want to make "another" request for Photoshop in Linux, and I would be glad if you people could take it in consideration. First of all, there are some clear statements:
Adobe will never port Photoshop to Linux natively.
They would loose tons of money porting it for a very small amount of real customers (and for real I mean people who already bought the product and are willing to move to Linux), c'mon be realistic. When Chris said that it wasn't without reason, there is a huge userbase in Linux, but no real profit in the short/mid term for Adobe (and I could cry out of shame by telling this, but it's true)
It would require at least 1-2 years of work and testing, which maybe Adobe can't afford (I don't know)
So, I'm making my request based on those premises, you will never port Photoshop to Linux natively, BUT:
Could you make an internal study to see if it's affordable for Adobe to provide official support for installation through Wine? I mean, maybe you're doing it, but if not, could you just assign one or two people to make the Wine installers? (that shouldn't take too much time neither money) those people only need to allocate time when it's a new Photoshop release, and the rest of the time they can continue with their usual tasks.
Maybe I'm saying too much, but I think this could be a reasonable way to ask Adobe for some Linux support without asking them to invest tons of money.

There are two questions that I left out of the box:
1) A very common response would be: "But the community is already doing the installers, why should we bother?"
It's true, the community are doing them, but they're not enough. There are some Photoshop internals that people miss to make the installers good enough, and a bit of help from the Photoshop team would be nice to solve those bumps in the road.
2) Another possible response: "But the Linux landscape is very fragmented"
True, that's one of the features of Linux, and one of the biggest disadvantages to make huge programs like Photoshop work properly. What I'm asking in this post is to make Wine installers, so the Photoshop team doesn't have to care about:
Efficiency: Wine has it's own efficiency, if we hav to use a bit slower Photoshop we can bear with it.
Fragmentation: Wine and the distros take care about the differences between linux distros, so the adobe team doesn't have to
Support: We don't ask for application support. Just for installation, if for some reason Wine installs Photoshop OK but it fails during runtime it's not Adobe's fault, we're using multiple layers that are not meant to be there in the native product.

New Build cd-rom boot fail on P55-GD80

After about three weeks of puttering with building my i7 p55-GD80 system I am at a loss about how to get WinXP to install.
Simply put I can not get the system to boot off of an IDE CD-Rom or DVD-Rom, or IDE drive formatted and imaged with the install disk. I am beginning to think that I will have to get a SATA DVD drive to get it to boot.
IDE drives used: DVD by LG , DVD by Lite-On (was working in Compaq previously), & finally a HP drive I had just booted from in my old system.
I was able to get a Hiran's to run using a GRUB boot setup on a thumb drive and from this I am sure the issue is not with the IDE subsystem. Hard disk diagnostics all worked out. However, in moving files over to try to get the HD to boot enough to run the install the new system has flagged the thumb drive as having a virus and refuses to run from it even after reformatting.
Any further thoughts are welcome since I have never seen a drive fail to boot even though it worked in another computer moments before.
Does MSI have an issue with booting from IDE?

OK, Now I have to admit I have gotten rusty.
It turns out the XP-Pro install disk had the auto-run file and not the boot set I was convinced was there.
I haven't done a major system build since my Athlon Tunderbird. (7 or 8 years ago)

New MSI P55-GD80 build incredibly unstable

Just got a new motherboard, CPU and ram, went with the MSI P55-GD80, Core i5 750 and Mushkin 1600 (7-7-7-20). Only problem is every build I have is incredibly unstable. At first when I was installing Windows it would continually freeze on the expanding files section. I read this may be do to a memory issue, so I used just one stick in DIM1. This worked to install but if I put in more than 1 stick I would re-experience freezes and crashes (also experienced them with one stick however). I ran MemTest for 5 passes each stick one at a time, then all 4 at once without any errors. I popped in my Vista 64 disk and was able to install Windows and drivers (with all 4 sticks utilized), though shortly thereafter I again began experiencing crashes (where PC completely reboots) and/or freezes. If audio is playing at the moment it freezes it continually replays the last note, only distorted. I think at this point a memory issue has been ruled out. But everything I try does not seem to produce a different result. I've tried switching out working components from other computers in to see if I have the same problems, and I do, with two different hard drives, cd drives, video cards, and sound card combinations. And furthermore I know from my last computer that all of my recycled components function normally as well.
Also- Currently my case is open and my room is cool, temps on load rarely get about 40c.
Rest of system:
Corsair HX620 PSU (dedicated lines drawn to all components)
1xRadeon 4800X2
Seagate 500GB SATA, WD 640GB SATA, Sony Blu-Ray SATA

Make sure that the command rate is manually set to 2T in BIOS Setup.
Test with one memory module only (for the now) and see if that runs stable.

New build P55-GD80 I7 860 wont boot "FF" error

Hi, I just put this build together, but its not booting..

4. WD 1TB Caviar Black
5. Corsair TX850w ps.
6. Zalman CNPS10X Quiet 1156 CPU Cooler
7. NVIDIA 8800GTS (waiting for new ATI this week..)
8. Antec 900 Two case
Well everything lights up and all fans are running but it doesnt beep nor does the display show anything.
I took out the 2 sticks of RAM and left only one in the 1st slot. I reset the CMOS with the clr cmos button, no change..
Any help would be welcome, thanks!

Hi Tekkaman, & welcome to the forum! When you cleared CMOS, was it in a 'power off' state with the power cord removed? If not, try that. Double check all the power connections to the board, VGA, & other components. Trade mem. sticks in the first slot to see if the one that was there is bad. Let us know how it goes.

Need some advice on a new build for CS5 Web Premium

I am looking for a powerful PC that I can use mostly for work and some light video work. I have been looking at several systems, but I can't decide if I should get the Core i7 875K, 950 or AMD 1090T for my needs.   I typically have many Adobe CS5 applications open at once like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Flash, iTunes, Quickbooks, Microsoft Work and Excel. I would ideally like to buy a pre-built rig, but I can surely put together if better. Below are a few I have been looking at, but I am unsure about cooling on one of them and about the 875K processor on the other one. I figured a gaming PC would be fast and powerful as my needs are behond a standard base config. I would like some advice also on a good video card. Been looking at crossfire ATI HD 5770, single ATI HD 5870, Radeon 6870, and GeForce GTX 470 and SLI GTX 460. I am not a typical overclocker, but I can be if it will help performance running apps. I leave my PC on all day and night so cooling is a factor.

Here is the final config I am looking to get. I am just debating the hard drive config and video cards. I want to be sure my video card will use teh GPU Accelleration and Advance features of Photoshop CS5. Do you know if the NVIDIA GTX 460 is compatable or should I spend more for the 470? I will not be gaming much and this pc is used mostly for work on CS5 Web Premium. How does this all look? All prices from NewEgg. I have another machine I will backup sata to each evening, so I really want a fast drive for program load and operation and another drive for data. What is best way to config drives? Should I get 2 of them and an SSD?

An install request for a new helper app appeared, I entered my system password to download the app. Since then safari will not open. It just comes up with a safari quit unexpectedly report. I have tried logging on as a Guest but it does the same.

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemit. MY safari will not open, it only comes up with a safari quit unexpectedly report. A new helper app appeared requesting my system password to download the helper. Stupidly I input the password, when I log off I can see the download icon for a split second still running asking to abort or continue. How do I sort this?

Genieo Adware is installed. Removing it will help.
If you have another browser installed, use it.
If not, launch App store and get another browser for temporary use.
Remove it afterwards.
1. Use free AdwareMedic by clicking “Download ” from here

    Install , open, and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button   to remove adware.
    Once done, quit AdwareMedic by clicking AdwareMedic in the menu bar and selecting

2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Turn those off and relaunch Safari to test .
     Turn those on one by one and test.
3. Safari > Preferences > Search > Search Engine :
    Select your preferred   search engine.
4. Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:
     Set your Homepage.

BT Infinity for new build

Hi,
I've tried searching the forum but can't seem to find posts that are related to my situation.
Basically I'm moving into a new build. There isn't a phone line yet. The postcode checker doesn't think BT Infinity is available, so I can't order.
However, as advised by the FAQ at http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/BT-Infinity-Availability-FAQs/td-p/181603, I checked on the wholesale checker www.btwholesale.com/adslchecker and it says it's all available. Any advice please?

You can unlock in SE03 tcode.
Goto tcode SE01, give the transport number --> display --> double click on the transport --> in the next screen select all the elements --> delete --> save.
To attach it to another transport, In RSA1, click on transport connection> Choose Object types> query elements --> here you can find your query/ or you can search, which you can drag to right and attach to the transport (using truck button).

How to create a new request for whole Package.

Dear All,
I have an unique requirement. we have a system, where developement have been done in phases with different Requests of A Package.
Now we need to apply same package/project on different system. But unable to list/gather all change request of developement. Now, is there any option to make a request for whole package or export whole package (Table, transaction, Program, class, objects etc. Everything of this package) and then theni import into another system.

A suggestion:
In Se80, display the package. Right-click on the displayed package name and choose write transport entry. Choose "package". Create the new transport as a "Transport of copies". Choose your target and client as part of your copy request.
BTW, SE80, select object, right click, write transport entry is an easy way to create a new transport for anything you need transported although not changed, such as an entire function group, etc.

If you suspect unauthorized access to your apple ID I would normally recommend resetting your password, but you have already done this.
