Another Safari problem on my Intel Mac

I have another problem. I went to use a live customer chat on: www.trugoji.com using Safari and it wouldn't work. I do not have block pop up windows checked either. Now this works on my eMac, but not my new Intel iMac.
Both computers have the same software and Safari version 3.0.4.
What is missing from my Safari that is preventing this from working? It keeps loading but never loads. It does work on firefox though.
It seems like my old eMac works so much better than this Intel online.
Thank you,
Martha

On the first link I was able to watch a video, I only watched a minute or so but it seemed to be working fine. The second URL I was able to get to the site but I wasn't able to watch a video.
That's because the first link was a video watching site and the second one was a picture of that first link to show you what I got when I clicked on the first link.
I was hoping that no one else with Intels would be able to get the site to work either. On the Macfixit forum, an Intel user couldn't view the video either but since you also have have an Intel, then for whatever reason, it seems to work for some but not for others. (Intel iMacs)
You have the same Intel iMac as I do, but a 24" and I have a 20".
Thanks for checking that link out for me. I wish someone knew how to correct this, Apple said they couldn't help me. (I have the warrantee)
Again thanks,
Martha

  • Third Party Apps problem on my Intel Mac Pro

Third party applications such as Quicken, Microsoft Word (for Mac) and Palm Desktop will launch once with no problem. But, when I close the application and try to boot it later, nothing happens. Nor will the other afore-mentioned apps open. If I shut down my computer and re-boot, all is well again until I shut down the app. Any clues? I do repair permissions but the problem persists.

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

  • PlainTextPaste for Intel Mac?

I frequently need to copy many file names into an email. I had been using PlainTextPaste, but that does not run on the Intel Macs. Now, when I select more than one file in the Finder, copy, and paste into an email, the actual files themselves get pasted in, and not the names. Does anyone know of another product like PlainTextPaste for Intel Macs, or is there already a way to get the result I want that I don't know about?
    Thanks,

Create a new document in TextEdit, choose Make Plain Text from the Format menu, paste the list into it, and then copy it from there.

  • Problems with Safari, Acrobat, Intel Macs, and Life Cycle Form Mgr.

    Here is my problem:
A Mac user using 10.4.10, with Acrobat Standard Ed v.7.0.9 installed,
is having to approve purchase forms through Adober Life Cycle Form Manager
through Safari 2.0.4. When trying to approve the PDF forms, it tells her
she needs to have Acrobat v.7 installed, and only shows a white page.
Went back and launched Acrobat 7.0.9, and did the "Detect and Repair"
setting to verify the Adobe PDFViewer plugin was installed.
Said it was, checked the Library/Internet Plugins folder and it was.
Launched Safari, Safari's list of plug-ins does not show it as being installed.
Trashed the Safari .plist file, relaunched Safari, same thing.
Read on the Apple site that people were experiencing similar issues,
Read on Adobe's site that for Intel Macs, should be using v. 8.01.
Downloaded the 8.01 Acrobat Reader and installed it.
re-launched Safari, success, it says the plugin, v.8.01 is installed.
Go back to Adobe Life Cycle Forms Manager, go to view a PDF,
at 100% screen size, PDF shows correctly. Zoom in on details,
PDF goes blank, will not show details. Zoom back out,
PDF goes white page, no info displayed.
    My Questions:
    1. is it an issue with Adobe Life Cycle Forms Manager and Safari on Intel Macs?
    2. Is there a way to get a proper plug in for Safari, so that Acrobat will read the PDFs
    instead of the default Preview?
    thanks in Advance

  • Installation problems on Intel Mac. claims PPC

I'm trying to install the current Flash Player 10.2 on my Macbook 6,1 (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.26GHz) with 4GB RAM, running OSX 10.6.6
    Browser is Firefox 3.6.13 {Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13}
I got the installer from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
The installer puts up a message: "Devices with PowerPC processors are no longer supported"
How can I convince the installer that this isn't a PPC machine ?  Why might the installer think so ?

Hi, What browser are you using to try to Uninstall/Install FP vs 10.2? And when you Install 10.1, what browser are you using?
There is no Flash Player support for a 64bit browser. I have been very busy on the Forum and have not had time to check on the 10.3 beta. Not sure what it refers to. Have you? Just asking as I've seen it mentioned on another thread, but it's from those complaining about 10.2 not working. Why anyone would want a beta Installed unless they are involved in the testing and are Developers I don't know.
Any beta is a work in progress, so as long as a user is aware of that it's ok with me. Microsoft has their IE9 in beta too, but with an beta one can expect problems.
Since the 10.2 is not Installing, then I don't think you'd receive any code, do you?
I'm not as familiar with the Mac, but is it possible to upgrade the OS from a PPC to the edition you have now?
I'm going to check a couple of things while you let me know on the above browser info. Also any comments would be welcome:-)
    Thanks,

Safari problem:  when I switch back into safari from another application, the menu bar comes up but no tabs or windows.  What's going on?  Just started yesterday.  I have found a workaround: when I Command Tab back to safari, I hit command T to open a new tab and Command W to close it, and my other tabs are visible.
I have tried shutting down, closing tabs, with no success.  What's going on and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,
    Cindi B
PS:  I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.
v10.6 Snow Leopard v10.7 Lion  v10.8 Mountain Lion
It's your choice whether or not to upgrade to Mavericks. If you decide to do this, make sure your Mac meets the requirements noted here.

  • Flash Player 10.2.153.1 upgrade not working on 64bit Intel-Mac in Safari 5.0.4

I feel robbed! I want to use my Safari.
The latest upgrade of Flash player does not work.
I don't even remember downloading it, it must've been an automatic update!
I can not play youtube videos nor can I play any games on Facebook.
Who knows what is not working in my Avid!! I have not been working on that lately.
The flash player still works on FireFox, but i have no intention on switching to that.
The first aid has been run a few times.
It will download the free flash player for Intel Mac and it says the install is successful, but it is not there.
I have CS4 and it never bothered or disrupted the free flash player before.
I uninstalled it just in case and nearly lost it! When I tried to reinstall Flash, it said my disc to was blank!
Luckily, a friend in the business of fixing computers was able to get that back! whew.
The flash player from the CS4 is showing up in a folder and will even open when clicked on, but it does nothing. It is version 10.0 r2.
When I go to the place where they say to "see what version of flash you have"
I just get that icon that says to "Get Adobe Flash player".
It down not show the suggested "missing plug-in" pictures.
Yes, I read there is compatibility issues with the 64 bit Mac, but it always worked before!!!
    Help!! Please!!

So the Shockwave Flash plugin in FF is Installed and Enabled. That's why Flash Player is working and why you were able to see the Flash Player logo animation. On the other hand, evidently the Shockwave Flash plugin is either not Installed in Safari or if it is it is Disabled. And that is why it's not working and you can't see the Flash Player logo.
Yes, I know Flash Player can be Installed in any supported 64bit OS. Also I thot that the 64bit browser in Mac was the "default" browser and the "Compatibility layer" had to be used. Similiar to the PC IE8 or IE9, switching over to the Compatibility feature in the browser.
Do you need to activate the Compatibility feature?  I have had other Mac users tell me that their problem was they were using the 64bit browser and found out they had to use the 32bit browser, so I thot it was something they had to do. I would think if it was automatic they would not have had to "do" anything. But like I said I don't use Mac so can only relate what they tell me.
With Safari on either of the test sites, no Flash Player version was displayed?
Look into the HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ directory and see if you have the below two files:
    Flash Player.plugin, flashplayer.xpt
After that see if this thread is of any help: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2725949#2725949

  • Safari load image problem with iMac Intel core

I got my new iMac 20" Intel core and system updated everything. I found that Safari cannot load image in my web photo album ( http://fotop.net/nicknick ), all image became "?".
I can load this page correctly with FireFox and Opera Browser. I also try the iMac 17" PowerPC in my office with the latest version Safari, it also load the album correctly. And I know this web is created and store in a Linux server, the web page coding not written or optimized to IE.
I've try to reinstall the whole OS X, nothing else installed, the same problem occurred.
Is it the problem on Intel core? or any setting I can do to overcome it?
Hope the problem could be solve, I like to use Safari except this problem.
iMac 20" Intel core   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Well... no - except to ask if your intel imac is connected to the internet in exactly the same way as the ppc imac. If it is, then that's puzzling
You're right, I'm puzzled by the imac.
    Intel imac is at my home, ppc imac is at my office;
both using same ISP but different service plan,
(home:) PPPoE, ADSL modem -> buffalo MIMO wireless router -> intel imac (both direct wire or wireless connect have same result)
(office:) fixed-ip, ADSL modem -> firewall -> Linksys wireless router -> ppc imac (wireless)
both network setting with manual assigned IP, gateway and same DNS
Same result occurred when (1)open box new machine, (2)after updated system, (3)reinstall whole OS with preserve the old setting, (4)reinstall whole OS with erase the whole harddisk option, (5)updated system after the reinstallation.
I firstly think may be some security setting in imac that blocked the images, but can't found out. I secondly think some html code at this web not work on Safari.
May someone with same machine help to open this web to see if all intel imac get the same result?

  • Intel Mac problem

I have just installed the latest Adobe Flash player as a
group of websites I use said I needed it.
I am using an Intel Mac OS X 4.10. And have installed Flash
    9.1.45.0.
Browsers Safari Beta 3, and Firefox 2.0.0.4. Both latest
    versions.
Tried uninstalling Safari 3 but still the same problem with
    Safari 2.
I have looked at the support pages here, and followed the
instructions , I uninstalled Flash, reinstalled it and then
verified my permissions and rebooted and still these 3 particular
pages will still not open for me.
The server for these 3 sites has had a recent upgrade which
took 10 days and after it was working I used it and it was fine,
But then yesterday I got this message.
They are shopping sites. I am disabled so on line shop a lot.
Do you think the fact they have upgraded their server may
have something to do with this problem, and I ought to contact the
sites and ask for Technical Support?
One of their sites has a club offering magazines and
discounts and of course I cannot even access that.
    So so frustrating.

If you haven't done so, then re-post this in the iWork forum. This forum is not really the best place for your topic.

  • Text-wrap problem ID CS3 on Intel Mac

I've recently been upgraded to an Intel Mac workstation running Leopard and for the most part, the transition has been smooth.  However, I just noticed today that I cannot get "detect edges" to work on a text wrap around an object with a transparent background in a placed Photoshop file.  The detect edges only works if I have a white background.  I've never had this problem before, so I wonder if it's a result of my new computer.  I use this function of text wrap constantly, and I'm hoping someone knows if this is a known bug and if there is a work around.

You don´t have to use detect edges feature for extracted PSD-image.... just select a proper Contour Options Type, Alpha Channel for instance.

  • New Intel Mac Mini Start-up Problems

I've recently purchased a new Intel Mac Mini (my first Mac after switching from a PC). Several times (probably once a day), the mac mini won't start-up.
I've noticed it happens after I've used iPhoto or iDVD. The mini becomes busy and performance seems to slow. After the software has finished its task, I can exit the application fine and shut down the mini.
When I then go to boot the mini, the little blue light comes up, but nothing else happens. It's almost as though it's in sleep mode (which it isn't). I've tried different ways to wake it using the keyboard, mouse and start button, but nothing.
The Mac Mini will only start-up again if it is unplugged from the mains and left for several minutes.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something I'm doing wrong that my lack of Mac knowledge may not be aware of?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have been frustrated by the same issue. My (admittedly non-professional) diagnosis is that the problem is related to heat build up. I am able to boot normally only after forcing a hard shut down and waiting for "a while" (5 minutes is not enough, 30 minutes does the trick). Thus my hypothesis that an appropriate cooling down period is needed.
Any similar thoughts? I'm calling Apple today...

  • Fscommand problem on Intel Mac

    Hello!
I am new to the forum and have a big problem.
I am trying to execute an application with fscommand on a
Intel Mac usin the latest standalone player (9.0.28)
    This is the code:
    fscommand("exec", "myapp.app");
myapp.app resides in a subfolder called "fscommand"
This does not work in the projector file created by the
9.0.28 player. It works in the flash 8 player under rosetta, but
then I lose to much performance. fscommand works fine on windows in
    all players.
Can anyone help me with this? Is it a bug, or is it due to a
undocumented change in the flash player?
My swf source file is in flash 8 format actionscript 2.0.
    Best Regards
    Rune

We found r28 was quite different under the hood from older 9
    players,
but I'm not sure what the work around is using a standard
    projector.
You can make this work with Mac version of mProjector it adds
    a
    executeApplication call.
    it is documented here
    http://www.screentime.com/software/mprojector/docs/index.html#mSystem
to use it you just install the mProjector mxp file add the
    call, export
your swf then convert it with the mProjector builder
    application

  • Intel Mac Install Problems

Is anyone else out there running a new Intel Mac with 10.4.8?
The problem comes when I go to install CF MX 7.2. I tried all the
configurations possible for developer (stand alone, with JRun, on
top of J2EE) and it just won't install right. It gets to the part
where it says 'it installed okay first part, but to finish the
install check firewall ports, etc. and make sure CF is running.'
Anyway, I can never get CF to run. It tries to, and can't. The
annoying part is I have to manually uninstall the crap too each
time, as the 'uninstaller' gets so far and asks me for my admin
password (not the CF admin password, RDS password, but the actual
admin pass for my account). I enter it and it keeps telling me it
is wrong. So you can't unistall with the unistaller. Funny thing
though is when I go to just trash the whole app manually the system
asks for my admin pass and it takes it just fine.
So, my main question is: Has anyone gotten CF MX 7.2 to
successfully install and run on an Intel Mac? Or will it only work
on an older PowerPC? (All my other Macromedia/Adobe stuff is
running just fine since I upgraded from the PowerPC. It was a
little slow at first, but I threw a bunch of ram at it. I cannot
get CF to install at all though...)
Anyone with advice or insight please respond...
    Thanks.

  • Rsync: Problem on Intel Mac

    Hello together,
I want to use rsync to backup files between my Intel Mac (iMac 20'') and my PPC Mac (G4 450 sawtooth).
This works except that the ressource forks and other files starting with ._ can not be transfered.
    rsync -aE /sourcpath remotehost:/targetpath/
I keep getting lots of errors like
    file has vanished: "/path/._filename"
    file has vanished: "/path/._filename"
    file has vanished: "/path/._filename"
The files are transfered, but the ressourcforks are not.
    How can I solve this?
    Best regards
    Martin
    G4 Sawtooth, iBook G4 800   Mac OS X (10.4)

I don't know if this is what is causing your problem, but I have seen these types of errors using 'rsync' on 10.4 where the source and destination are on different volumes, and one volume has ACLs enabled, whereas the other doesn't. Once, while doing an incremental backup, 'rsync' actually went and stripped off every single resource fork in my backup - not just those of files that would have been modified since the previous backup. I didn't bother to keep ACLs enabled long enough to troubleshoot after that.
Both ACL support, and support in various command line utilities for preserving resource forks or file attributes are features newly introduced in 10.4 - it looks like there still may be some kinks to work out with respect to how they interact...
