Another unhappy iPhone 3GS user - SIGNAL issues

I have recently (2wks ago) received an iPhone 3GS from Vodafone UK.
Which like many other users has a problem holding a signal.
In the house I can't even hold a 2G signal and that is in a "good to excellent 3G area".
And 3G is hardly ever possible in the house.
Now this continues to be a BIG issue outside the house which is apparently an "Excellent 3G area".
It drops signal at the drop of a hat.
Many people are reporting the same issues on the Vodafone forums but we keep getting fobbed off.
And I notice other people here too mentioning signal issues.
Am well fed-up of this and feel well ripped off - the phone barely functions for the purpose it was meant for "PHONE".
I have tried all the scripted useless help Vodafone give out - does anyone have any suggestions ???

FWIW, I think it's down to a poor receiver, not an 'inherent fault' as you suggest.
If you want to take it further, then I suggest a legal route if Vodafone aren't sympathetic.
You won't get any more useful advice here, because there is no more to give!
Actually, there is some more advice. Recently, Vodafone have started to push their 'Sure Signal' box. Guaranteed signal in your home via wi-fi for £50. It's a no-brainer for you I would suggest.

       I am new iphone user. I am using iphone 3GS ( IOS 5.1.1 {Shipped with the Same Software}). As, IPhone claim to provide the life upto 40 hours (Normal usage) ., I am hardly getting 3-4 hours of life in normal usage and 12-15 hours when not in use. I even, removed all my mail accounts and always check and remove the background apps running.So, is it normal to have this drainage rate or we can do something more to get it better.
      Also, there are rumors of 5.1.1 not nice fit for 3GS , so is that the reason why is this so?
    Any sugesstion or discussion are highly appreciated.

  • Why iphone 3GS users no more receive app updates?

    as iphone 3GS only supports ios 6, and on other side many apps which already did support ios 6, now no more support it in their new updates!
    it's not just included new updates which have ios 7 design feature, it's also consists many bug fixes and improvements which won't push to ios 6 devices, for example my 4shared app new update has many bug fixes and save photo to cameraroll feature but as it's new patch only supports ios 7 so we are stuck in previous version and we are lack of use it. also many other apps are using this ''sell strategy'' and have abandoned their customers.

    I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to os4 and I cannot send picture messages I have no option whatsoever to do so.

    From memory I believe the 3GS runs at 600MHz and the A4 processor is a 1GHz processor, but that doesn't mean that the clock speed in the iPhone4 will necessarily be 1GHz (but it probably will)
    Allied to that is the fact that A4 is more efficient at processing, I'd imagine it's going to be a lot faster than the 3GS.
    As others have mentioned, the iPad would be a good way of gauging the speed of the iPhone4

  • IPhone 3GS Home Button Issue - iPhone Thinks Home Button Is Always Pushed

    Alright, this isn't the normal(home button doesn't work) question. Listen...
    Customer brought this iPhone 3GS in to replace the non-working home button. Before I did I tested it with a working screen assembly(obviously including a new home button) and it DIDN'T work. So I replaced the dock connector and speaker/mic assembly(where the home button makes it's connection. And that still doesn't work.
    I have figured out now that the problem is NOT that the iPhone doesn't recognize the push of the home button but instead it thinks that the home button is always being pushed. When hold the power button(only) the iPhone will restart(which requires home+power).
    Since I've tried replacing the home button and the dock connector is this problem with the logic board?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    I have the same problem andmine was stuck in a recovery loop and it took me about 7 hours to get workingsoftware, now I have the phone fully working the home button has no functionwhen in phone mode, I have soft reset when in phone mode and the home buttonworks (resets phone) - Power + Home button pressed together)).
    The home button also works whenthe screen is lifted from the connector for DFU mode and soft reset; I’mthinking there are two connections made to the logic board one for system(software reset and DFU) and one for phone connection.
    Not changed the dock or thescreen assembly due to thinking which part I need to buy :/, don't want to keep buying parts then having to keep them if they don't work

    Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Remove and reinstall the SIM card.
    Try a different SIM card.
    Contact the carrier to troubleshoot a network issue.

    Does the issue occur with all songs or just a few songs?
    Does the music play correctly in iTunes on your computer?
    Try restarting the iPhone by holding the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears> slide to turn off> then turn the iPhone back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake again.
    If the issue is only occurring with some songs, try to remove them from the iPhone and/or iTunes and then import them into iTunes and sync them to the iPhone again.

    Virtually no-one has upgraded to 1os5.  They're all frozen in terror!
    But seriously...what do you reckon?
    As long as you haven't hacked your phone it will be fine.  If you have hacked it, no-one can tell whether it is safe or not. It'll be completely at your own risk.

    Nope.  All working fine on my family's various iDevices including iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad mini, and 3rd generation iPad.

  • IPhone 3GS Muffled sound issue

    Hello.
    Today my phone's sound was working fine for the whole day until I got home; my phone's speaker sound became muffled and very low, even though ringer volume is on the maximum setting. I've tried every suggested solution by other people, but none have worked. I've turned it on and off multiple times, and I've also tried leaving it off for an elongated time then turning it on a later time. I've confirmed that there is no dirt clogged in the speaker; besides, that would be quite unreasonable since it was working fine for the whole day and suddenly became muffled when I got home. The affected sound includes the lock, unlock, keyboard click, and music through the speaker. Will this eventually fix by itself? Does anyone have any other possible solutions?

  • Iphone 3GS freezes and loosing signal

    Hi there,
    Maybe some of you iphone 3GS users have the same problem? ...or maybe a solution?
    Since I received the automatic software upgrade (iO4) to my iphone 3GS, it freezes and looses its signal on places I had signal before. The 3G connection gets very unstable and worst of all it can't find signal at all when i cross country borders. I have to wait 4-5 minutes in ”settings” to get the operator list and then manually chose one from the list. 2 out 5 times it works the rest of the time I have no signal for hours when I cross boarders.
    Moreover With my phone, typing often become annoying. One of the first letters I hit pops up, but then stays stuck as I continue to type. It catches up eventually, but without the visual cues that I’m hitting the right keys, it makes typos an inevitability.
    Furthermore, opening very basic apps has gotten slower, and apps crashing to the home screen is much more frequent.
    I have a lot of text-messages I dont whant to loose so I'm hesitant to make a factory reset yet!

    I was just having this problem, too. I tried turning the phone completely off and then back on, which didn't work. But then, I double-clicked the Home button to bring up my multitasking list (whatever you want to call it) and closed every program running, which was basically every app on my phone.
    That seemed to do the trick for me.

  • IPhone 3gs Email accounts duplicated on my iPhone

    I just joined iCloud and have 2 iPhone 3gs users sharing the same iTunes and iCloud account.  Inexplicably the 3 Yahoo! email accounts I had set up on my iPhone prior to joining iCloud are now showing up twice on my phone (so if I have 3 emails in one account it actually shows 6 emails unread).  How do I fix this without screwing up my email accounts?
    P.S. - If someone could respond in layman's terms it would help tremendously.

    I have the same problem with all of my email accounts on my iphone 4S. But it's not the phone, it's something to do with iCloud. I hope someone can answer this question because it's really annoying. I've already removed one of my accounts from the iphone and look online. I'm considering doing the same with my other email addresses.

    But speed comes at a price, we will have to deal with that.
    Something i am not going to deal whit is the HEAT coming from the 3gs !!

    Lets put one 3GS in front of a webcam, en push it to its max for days/weeks etc. , will it blow ??

    5 days after getting the 3G S I was removing it from the charger and noticed the back was warm , almost hot, as you describe yours. It wouldn't power on or reset so I took it to the AT&T store wher I got it. They confirmed it's a known manufacturer's defect and instructed me to take it into a local Apple store for replacement. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar this Saturday. If you haven't done this you should...even AT&T knows about the problerm.
