Another update victim
Did most recent update and now G5 doesn't see 60g ipod and ipod won't shut off. Have a blank screen. Have reset 10 times. Screen goes dark and I hear three tones. then the blank screen comes back on. I have 500 photos saved on this ipod. Are they lost? Help!

I had the same problem with my 30 gig Ipod. Haven't found out what to do to remedy this problem. I'm hoping that Apple will send out a new updater to fix this problem. Currently, I sent my IPOD to best buy where I purchased it. (I bought the extended warranty)

Last time I did an update...I lost most of my music...thousands of songs and had to reinstall them!!!! I am scared as **** to do another update!! I have radio shows to do and can't afford to spend the time with this. Help anyone?
A bit late for this advice now, but hopefully you'll know what to do next time.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I bought my Macbook pro in 2010 and had Snow Leopard which I upgraded when Mountain Lion was available. Now it keeps saying Mavarick is available. Is that another update? Or is that something else?
Mavericks is an upgraded System in the same way that Mountain Lion was, the difference being that it's free. You can download the installer from the Mac App Store (the system requirements are the same as for Mountain Lion so you should be OK there). I've not got it: reports suggest that it is an improvement over Mountain Lion but it has some quirks that may or may not be an issue for you. It has its own forum, so you could look there for information.

The 3GS is not listed in the supported list for iOS7. Unless Apple comes out with a major bug fix, 6.1.3 will likely be the last update for it.

Can I do another update over 10.6.1?

My system was updated to 10.6.1, When I ran disk utility it gave me 2 warning errors that couldn't be repaired due to SUID files in libary. Is it possible to do another update over the current update. Can we expect another update which would allow us to edit the names of the playlists? On the Go, On the Go 1.....etc doesn't cut it for me. I'd like to be able to make them and name them.
You can rename them on you computer after you sync your iPod.
Apple doesn't announce a head of time their plays or schedules for updates and speculation and rumor are violations of the terms of use of these forums. Sorry. -
Another update failure and restore
An observation after another updater failure.
Do NOT update on a shared USB port. I have a USB dongle to let several USB devices be on one port. This is not normally not t a problem with syncing, but this will not work with iPad OS update.
Plug iPad directly into a USB port or it will probably fail. This is probably the same reason you can't plug into a keyboard USB port as not enough power to run the operation.Apple recommends the same when syncing as well.

I usually stream recorded TV from the FilmOn app. iPad Air 8 to Apple TV. I've had no problems until I downloaded an update as requested last Wednesday. Now everything starts and stops. I get a timer bar on the TV as if it is stopping to buffer every 2 or 3 minutes - then it restarts after about 3 minutes. Takes twice as long to watch a programme and very annoying! Also Skype extremely poor with broken picture and poor sound. (I am in New Zealand). I understand the update last week had many bugs. Does another update 8.2 cure last weeks 8.1 ?

First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore). -
1/23/14 update erased a dll file and who knows what else. I had to restore my computer back several months to get the file back. I just got another update package. Is it safe to use?
Thank you. After two system restores and three program removals using the control panel I got itunes back. I would feel better if Apple would include items you don't need options in installs so that the constant checking for what is not there would not create problems. For me it was MobileMe associations. I never would have thought of Bonjour and (Quicktime - which I don't even use but did not remove just in case)

Another update causes box to be broken.
I switched on the vision box today to be greeted by the multi coloured lines screen again. I sighed as I knew this was going to be a problem just like last time and updat happened.
I pulled all the plugs out of the box and router and restarted everything. The box eventually came back up but showed all channels as locked. I had to press select then enter a pin of 1234 on each channel to unlock it before I could view it!
Secondly, the tv guide isn't working and there are loads of menu otions missing off the menu. I cannot see the recordings menu or tv on demand.
Finally, a bit of good news, I notice the box now looks to be a media extender with new menu options for photo and mp3 playback from a windows pc! Awesome! That is good news! Now if only the thing would work properley so I could use it!
Looks like I am going to have to give it a proper hard reset and lose all my recordings again! *sigh*There do seem to be a few issues there, however, I'd wait a while before a factory reset, the TV Guide should populate overnight, and the recordings menu should come back after a little while (usually a few minutes, but in the bad old days it was a few hours). Perhaps another full restart may be in order if things don't come back of their own accord.
