Another upgrade?

Does anybody know if Apple plan to release another upgrade for the various bugs that have been reported on these forums? It seems that a few things have been raised

No one knows except Apple employees who don't post here and in any event are forbidden by their terms of employment from giving out such info.
The more feedback that is submitted, the quicker the update will be released.

Personally, I would not recommend deleting/removing the iWorks 09 folder for several reasons: one is that the new versions have had several functionalities removed and until you decide that you can work with the new one and do not miss any features the older version had, I would leave the old one in place. Personally, I will not be using the new versions.
The second reason is that you can accomplish what you want using a different approach: simply open a Get Info window of your document and choose which version of Pages you want this to open in - you can also stipulate that all docs like this are opened with whichever particular version.
FWIW: Once you have edited an old document in the new Pages version, you can no longer open it in the older version. However, you can still export it to the old version.

Upgrade to iphone 5 using another upgrade

I have 5 lines on my plan. Only one line is a smart phone which is a droid and is not eligible for an upgrade until May 2013. 3 of the other lines on my plan our eligible for an upgrade but are not smart phones. Would I be able to use one of these upgrades for the iPhone 5 and activate it to the line that my Droid is on? My only concern is committing to another data plan on a line that is not a smart phone. I understand you not wanting to add an additional data plan on a line that will not be needing it. As mdram4x4 mentioned you can use the upgrade eligibility of your other line to get the iPhone 5 on the line that already has a data plan. Will there be another upgrade available for iPod touch1st Generation.

I would like to use my iPod for more than just music and instagram. I like to be able to use facebook and twitter and imessage. I don't think it's fair that I can't use some of the everydy apps that everybody else can. we should be able to at least upgrade to an iOS 4.0 if anything else

It is extremely unlikely that there will ever be another update for it.
This is completely normal in every way. ALL computers/devices/TVs/dvd players/phones/etc become unable to run the latest software at some point. There is nothing unusual about this at all.

And another upgrade year that the MSI file kills the upgrade

So everytime we do an update we need to read and dig to find the guru answer of how to resolve this painful update. Why is this happening and how can this be fixed on both MS or Adobe end so we can normally upgrade Lightroom?
So far the FixIt utility from MS works, at least for me, it is now cleared up and isntalled....but others have had issues, and why is this so common and still an issue?

The main problem with MSI installations is as follows (from my experience and from a developer point of view) :
MSI installers add a lot of entries to a database located in the registry under the key named HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer . If you look at this registry tree, you'll see that it contains tenths of thousands of entries which amounts, depending on the system, to several megabytes of data. Very often, a good part of these data are useless and/or related to uninstalled products.
The problem is that once this database has been corrupted, this can cause trouble to other installers. Corruption can be caused by a faulty installer, a faulty de-installer that leaves a lot of useless and harmful data behind, and by some registry cleaning tools.
The big flaw with the MSI technology is that nobody seems to be able to reverse engineer the state of the database and check whether it is healthy. There is absolutely no cleaning tool for this subtree of the registry. Many years ago, a lot of developers (among them many development MVPs and I for one) have requested from Microsoft a cleaning tool that would eliminate irrelevant or wrong data from the MSI database. Obviously, nobody has ever been able to write such a tool. There's very few usable documentation to allow writing such a utility and this would obviously be a time consuming development. I'm only aware of one single (very thick) book about the MSI technology written by a german developer who tried to make things clear. Very nice job but this was not enough information to produce an "MSI Cleaner".
The only "tool" made available by Microsoft is Windows Installer Cleanup that can only wipe out the data for a single product. It doesn't check anything, it deletes every entry related to a given product (which is rarely what we actually need). There's another tool that is able to delete everything (but I can do that manually with a registry editor). That's all.
IMHO, this explains why a given MSI installer (and especially MSI updaters) will work fine on certain systems and will fail on another. It depends on which applications (and Windows updates) were "MSI installed" or "MSI uninstalled" and in which order. The use of a registry cleaning tool may also generate trouble.
So it is extremely difficult to diagnose an MSI installation problem. Any MSI problem is tightly related to the system configuration and to the installation/uninstallation history of that system.
MSI is an ambitious technology but it often fails because it is not traceable, not debuggable and because its database cannot be repaired. Just totally or partially deleted.

Upgrade to Iphone 4S (preorder) online using another upgrade

Hello, I have read other peoples questions on upgrading to the 4S using someone else's plan, I just wanted to confirm that I understand it properly.
I will be using my moms upgrade to get the 4S
as I understand, when I preorder, I will use her line to order the phone, then once I receive the phone, I will activate it on her number, then reactivate her phone on her number and activate the Iphone onto my line, correct?
A few more questions, How do I deactivate the data plan on her line? Do I have to go to the store to do this?
My moms phone is a flip phone, how do I activate a flip phone? or does it vary depending on the make and model?
When I go to activate my phone onto my line, how do I tell the phone I want to activate it on my line and not my parents line? will there just be voice prompts to follow to change what line it will be activated on? Or do I do it online from the Verizon website?
Finally, I assume that my unlimited data plan will stay unlimited, even when upgrading through someone else's account, correct?

I'm glad you asked about the alternate upgrade for the Iphone 4S pre-order. I knew that this question was going to come up sooner or later, which is why I'm excited to answer all of your questions. For simplicity, I will explain the equipment activation process in three parts.
Part 1: Once the pre-order is completed on the qualified line, the two year agreement needs to be accepted. You may have to activate the device on Itunes on the qualifying line to confirm this change. Hopefully the qualified line has an Itunes account of it's own, which will make the process much easier. Because it's a smartphone it will require a data package if one isn't already on the qualified line.
Part 2: Once activated, you can do an electronic serial number (ESN) change at My Verizon. Here you can reactivate the original device on the qualified line and release the Iphone 4S's ESN for use on the line of your choice. I recommend that you review the features on the qualified line to ensure that you haven't removed any services by accident, like unlimited data.
Part 3: Complete the ESN change on the line of your choice to use the Iphone 4S on an reactivate again on Itunes. I recommend having two different Apple IDs when doing the equipment swap, one for your mom and one for line that will be using the Iphone 4S going forward. Assuming that the line that you want to use the Iphone 4S already has unlimited data then you will be able to enjoy this package after the device activation.
Side note: Unlimited data packages cannot be added on a line that does NOT already have it. So if the qualified number has it and the number of choice doesn't then current data pricing is required.

My original machine was 2.0 Ghz with just 1GB Ram, over the years I upgraded
Processors to 2x 2.66 Quadcore and beefed up Ram to 22GB.
I have a new project.
I purchased 500GB SSD and I would like to install Maverics on it. But my question for today.
Is there any benefit if I take two old 1TB hdd and convert them to raid 0, will there be any benefit?

ANOTHER UPGRADE QUESTION

I've owned Photoshop versions 5, 5.5, 7, CS, CS3, & CS5.
I usually skip a version unless there's something I particularly want, and as to CS6, the only “feature” that interests me, is “the” ACR upgrade.
I thought about buying Lightroom for the ACR, & to use in conjunction with Photoshop; but I don't want to loose my upgrade privileges for Photoshop.
I searched the Adobe site, & found info. on the allowance to upgrade from CS4 to CS6; but there is nothing specific about the future, & weather CS5 user's will be eligible for upgrade to CS7, or will be required to upgrade to CS6?
Seems a bit hard-core bottom line to require upgrading to every version, weather “you're” interested in the “improvements” or not, to retain eligibility!

Starting with the CS6 cycle, you must be on the latest version of Adobe products in order to qualify for upgrade pricing to the next version.
When CS7 arrives, you must be a CS6 user to upgrade. And so on.
The new policy arrived out of the blue in 2011 and took everyone by surprise. Originally you had to be a CS5 or CS5.5 user to get upgrade pricing for CS6. Bit harsh.
After some hardcore lobbying, on behalf of CS3 and CS4 users, from high profile, influential Photoshop users (http://scottkelby.com/2011/an-open-letter-to-adobe-systems/), Adobe relented and the only dispensation was for CS3 and CS4 users upgrading to CS6. Due to the timing of the new upgrade policy announcement (just before CS6 shipped), CS3 and CS4 users have now been given until 31 Dec 2012 to upgrade to CS6 at upgrade prices.
After 31 Dec 2012, everyone who wants to upgrade to CS6 must already own CS5 or CS5.5.
This is all for perpetual (traditional) licenses.
Cloud customers paying their monthly fee get automatic free upgrades for all products plus early access to new features released mid-cycle.
Not hard to see that Adobe is steadily pushing everyone towards the Creative Cloud.

Another upgrade mess

Upgraded to iOS 4.1, iTunes 10 and mobile me control panel with those. Guess what? Sync only operates from iphone to mobileme to outlook and not in reverse. And apple has a new twist on recurring entries: even when they have appeared in outlook they keep getting entered so you end up with as many entries at that time on the same day as you allow. This has gone beyond all excusability: iphone and calendar sync on mobileme is effectively unusable. I now start looking for RELIABLE alternatives.

There was a change on your end. That is the only way this issue would have been resolved.
Did you update your MobileMe Control Panel? Did you upgrade your security software or reset sync history?

What I am wondering, since I'm fairly new to owning a Mac computer, is if Apple has some kind of "trade-in" program, or ability to get a discount on the new MBP's by giving up my current MBP. When I bought this, the sales representative told me that Apple did not expect to be giving any upgrades to the Macbook Pro product line till the next year (I purchased this Mid June of this year). Of course, I'm not going to go on a tyrade about the injustices of the corporate policy or anything, but it'd be nice if there was some kind of program that they had because I really can't afford $2500 for a new laptop, but would love to have the performance boost, the 8600M is starting to lack

Sorry but no; Apple has no trade-in program. So if you want the new system, you'll need to sell your old one yourself. You'd probably get more by an outright sale than you would on any trade-in program even if one existed (just as is the case with automobiles).
BTW, sales reps never know when the next release of any product is coming; no sooner than the rest of us do, anyway. Any date or estimate that any rep, Apple employee or not, would give would be strictly that person's guess. If you were told this a few days ago, you probably could make an argument to Apple for a return, but a purchase made four months ago wouldn't fly.

Another upgrade fail

My 'upgrade' was activated today, my ip profile has changed from 32/10 to 29/20, so not much of an upgrade, my download speed has actually decreased.
Also, my upload speed has never been more than 6 (wired), even after the increase in profile to 20.
Starting to get a little frustrated, particularly after starting off the service a couple of months ago with a d/l profile of 38, which as you can see has gradually got worse.

My upload speed seems to be capped at 6Mbps even though my IP profile is 20Mbps. I have never had more than 6 on any speed test since I've had Infinity.
Been on the phone to India a few times now, so far I've been told it IS a fault, it ISN'T a fault, leave it 10 days, leave it 24hrs, turn it on, turn it off, etc etc. I've been promised a callback twice now and both have failed to materialise.
I'm also trying to get the contract renewal for the upgrade cancelled as my speed has not increased.
Would it be possible for one of the mods to take a look at this for me please.

Sorry another upgrade question Emagic Logic 6 Platinum to Logic 8

My question here is about upgrading. I have searched the forum and Apples site but have not been enlightened.
A few years ago I briefly used Logic as the front end on a PTs HD system I owned which I still have the dongle for. This was back in 2003. Im pretty sure it was then called Logic 6 platinum and it was before Apple bought Emagic
I no longer have those original disks but I have a hunch they wouldnt be compatible with the newest OS Is that correct?
So, if I go ahead and buy the upgrade how will the software know I'm upgrading if I cant load the old version...which I would rather not do anyway. If I have to produce a serial code that was held on a sticky bit of paper, I dont have that now, and the store I originally bought Logic from has since gone under.

Correct, you don't need the disks, and you don't need to install old software versions.
When you run the installer, it will ask for your new LP8 serial number, and will then ask you to insert your XSkey so it can check you have a Logic authorisation valid for the upgrade - then it will install LP8, and you will no longer need the key plugged it when running Logic.

I'm using 3.6 &have a question 1st. I edit a web site English. WhenI updated awhile ago to another upgrade, the only way to edit was "iusing code". My question is, if I upgrade to yur latest verious, will it still allow me to edit in English, not code.
