Another user cannot run QT movies I send her

She is running a Powerbook G4, Tiger, current QT player, etc. When I send a CD ROM quality movie she tells me she gets an "error 5000" so she says. What am I doing wrong when exporting from iMovieHD to this format that prevents her from seeing the movie?

How are you "delivering" the file? Over a network?
Error 5000 usually means a "permissions" issue.
Did you burn the file to CD? Did you use the Finder or other software to burn?

Can't install Safari 4 - 'Another user is running Safari'

I was running the Beta and loved it and want the 4.0 but I'm stuck.
After running the installer I get a continual alert that says words to the affect of 'Safari is being run by another user. Quit all running Safari applications to continue' which won't go away till I shutdown and restart. The installer just stalls and won't go any further. If I force quit every application the Alert keeps popping up till restart.
Any ideas, some old Safari Beta 4 file somewhere I can trash. Unfortuantly I don't have the uninstaller that came with it any longer.

I did not run the BETA Safari 4 (I NEVER use BETA software). I would suggest uninstalling the BETA Safari (that will put you back to Safari 3) and then downloading (again) Safari 4.

Batch user cannot run program

I have setup program RSWUWFML2 to run every 15 minutes through SM36 (Background Job Processing). However, I cannot get our Batch user to run it. When I assign any other user with proper authorization to run the program, it works. But whenever I change the user to our Batch user, the program does not want to run.
This is not an authorization issue because our Batch user has all the authorizations the other users have that are able to run the program. Why would a Batch user not be able to run the program?

Could it be that it's your own user that is not allowed to select batch user for the job. Use ST01 (trace authorization) to make sure.

New QuickTime 7.4 Update Cannot Run .AVI movie files? How to play AVI?

Hello.
I updated my home iMac's QT to the latest ver 7.4, had some .avi files use to be able to play while I was in the 1st gen iMac running Tiger (didn't play those files until now) My office G5 Tower running on latest 10.4.11 with QT prior to current version also can play the similar .avi files.
But my iMac's QT cannot play them, the mov files are white in colour, nothing.
How can I play my .avi files?

Restricted user cannot run applescript application

I have written an applescript application (locked) for students using iMacs on our win2000 network to dismount pc shares. The applications accessed by the students are restricted via parental controls. When I search and select the application (logout) within the parental controls I get the message 'logout can not be run with the limitations set'. Whilst logout can be run by admin it will not run for the student. Has anyone got any ideas?

Is this error only with this one specific VI or with all VI's?? What does this VI do in terms of function?
Have you tried this same VI as a copy of this file, to make sure there is no corruptions with the VI?
Error related to lvinit.cpp are generally due to administrator rights / user rights issues.. Was LabVIEW installed with admin priveleges, and that users are allowed to read/write on the file used by LabVIEW? It has been seen before that the issue can be solved with giving the users the suitable read/write permissions to LabVIEW.

Windows users cannot copy or move files

I have several windows users that cannot copy a file on the server and paste it somewhere else on the server or to their hard drive. The same user can log into a mac and do what they want to do. Any help?
Here is the error message. "Cannot copy file_name: the specified network name is no longer available".

Let me clarify. They can log in to the server FROM a mac and copy the files where they need them. I think this rules out a permissions issue. Usually the file transfer goes about half way before it errors out. Sometimes the files actually do copy and paste to the new location but the error message still comes up.

New Acrobat X / LiveCycle User - Cannot Freely add/move Text Fields - Why?

I have (what seems to me) an elementary question that I cannot seem to figure out.
I have a form that I created in MS Word with placeholders for fields such as pick-lists, text fields, or check boxes. Now that, to me, is not uuber fancy, but I cannot seem to add text fields freely in Acrobat X without the constraints of the rulers or grid lines limiting WHERE I can place my text box, etc. How can I change this? I created a form a few weeks ago and didn't recall having this limitation, but now I am whiule creating a different form. Any idea how to work around this?
P.S. I even tried creating the doc instead through LiveCycle, by uploading via the Word doc and editing from there, but I cannot seem to get LiveCycle to work at all. Everytime I select the Word doc to upload, the program stops responding and freezes. I am using LiveCycle ver 9.0.0.0.0 and X Pro 10.1.0

How do I share the Photo Library on my desktop with another User. I have Apoerture set up on my wife's user account but cannot figure out how to access the photo library from her desktop.

I just got a new IMac. I transferred all the photos from our old PC to the Aperture Library on my User account. My wife is set up as another User. She can access Aperture from her User account but there are no photos in the Library. How can I share or giver her access to the photos so that she can work with them on Aperture from her User account?

Move the Aperture library to separate disk or disk partition with plenty of space for all your photos. On a separate disk or partition it will be possible to set the "Ignore ownership on this volume" flag. Then two users can write to the same Aperture library without permission problems.
The procedure is describe here for iPhoto libraries, but this will work for Aperture libraries as well:

If you want to use a drive for your Aperture library, that has been used with a PC, format it for Mac, before you move the Aperture library there. This can be done with Disk Utility.

Another user running Itunes

So I'm trying to update my Iphone and need to update Itunes to 8.2. Download completes and then says another user is running Itunes on this computer. No other users have Itunes running. HELP!....what gives?

Oh yea, and I can't get out of update without shutting down.

ITunes keeps restarting by itself on another user account

Problem began since I started using a new computer running Vista Ultimate, 64 bit. Even though a second account on the computer that WAS using iTunes closes it, when I go to MY account WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO OPEN iTunes, window upon window opens telling me I can't run iTunes because another user is running it.
Then, when I go to the other account, I see iTunes OPEN! I'll close it, go to my account, and the windows keep opening again, telling me I can't run iTunes, even though I don't want to!
I wind up going to the Task Manager and closing iTunes helper and anything else I see with iTunes as the name.

I am running Windows XP and I've been experiencing this problem for a little while, not sure exactly when it started happening. Everyone once in awhile when I try to launch iTunes on my main user account, it won't run because it is running on another account (which I never want it to run on). I was just coming here to see if I can stop that from happening, I only ever want to run it on my main account.
I do notice that iTunesHelper is running on both user accounts, and that is probably directly related to my issue. I just plugged in my iPod and got the message than iTunes is running on another account - my guess is, with that iTunesHelper running on both accounts, it is luck which account sees it first and launches iTunes. However I have also received this message when I manually run iTunes as opposed to just plugging it in with the auto-detection.
That iTunesHelper is pretty inconsistent - I have seen it running on one account only, both accounts, and no accounts if I look in the task list. I think that is the main problem but I don't know how to prevent it from running on secondary user accounts.
In any event this problem is not isolated to Vista, and that is the main reason why I am posting in this thread.

"Sorry we couldn't find your file. Is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted?"
and/or simple "Could not Open _____" errors when this happens. We should certainly be able to open a read only copy at the least but office doesn't even give an option to do so. We are using office '07 Pro Plus. Thanks.

Workbook settings macro is not visible for another user?

Hi all,
There is a work book with formulas inside the workbook, when execute the workbook i can see the formulas and the values derived from the excel formulas.
But when another user is running it, he is not able to see those values,
I think there should be some setting to be done for that user to access that workbook?
what is that setting and how it should be done so that that user can see it?

When i open the work book in the design mode, i can see there are 3 text elements and one item grid,
which is actually which was designed in the workbook, but the user is unable to see those text elements and item grid!!

As I understand it, this vulnerability has to do with applications that use Webkit. What is being done about it? Can we expect security updates for Mountain Lion and iOS 6 soon?

Message 23 Error another user

Recently purchased another Leap Frog toy, when trying to hook up received this error and now none of our leap toys work/connect to the computer. Used to work fine, will not recognize them now. Have tried to delete all previous applications and start new, but nothing works. There is only 1 user on my computer. Receive this error:

Well, got mine resolved.
Removed the folder: (Main Hard Drive)\Library\Application Support\LeapFrog\LeapFrog Connect\Cache
And Files:
(Main Hard Drive)\Library\Application Support\LeapFrog\LeapFrog Connect\LeapFrogConnect.pid
(Main Hard Drive)\Library\Application Support\LeapFrog\LeapFrog Connect\Monitor.pid
All is well, and I did not have to re-detect the device or anything. I can't guarantee your results though as I only have a Tag Reader Pen.
Also, I had no choice, I had to install flash. I don't know if you both were in the same boat or not, but I choose not to keep flash installed. Luckily you can install flash, and then uninstall after using the LeapFrog Connect App.
Install can be through LeapFrogConnect, Uninstall from your utilities folder: Adobe Flash Player Install Manager
