Another user using ipod software error

When I try to update my ipod nano I get the message that another user on my computer is using the ipod software and it is unable to communicate with this ipod. All other users are logged off.
Any suggestions?

Yesterday Colloquy crashed on my iPad after an Arabic text string was pasted into the IRC channel that I was on. Another user using Linkinus under Mountain Lion on her Macbook Pro was also affected. As I understand it, this vulnerability has to do with applications that use Webkit. What is being done about it? Can we expect security updates for Mountain Lion and iOS 6 soon?

Another user is using iPod Software.....

I'm trying to get more songs on my iPod and when I connect it and iTunes starts running a note pops up and says:
"Another user on this computer is using the iPod Software, so iTunes is unable to communicate with this iPod. Please ask the other user to log out." I checked and nobody else on the computer is using iTunes. Does anybody know what I am supposed to do or what this means? I cannot get anything about/on my iPod on iTunes... please help

Try restarting your computer.
This is NOT the kind of help that I find valuable. Restarting the machine is the
last thing I want to do! Is this a bug in the iTunes? Is it a sequence problem? i.e. should you plug in iPod, then start iTunes? Somebody has to have a better answer.

Trouble Downloading The iPod Software, Error 1418, Error 1348

My iPod every so often crashes and erases my Music and Videos. Prompts me to "Connect to your computer Use iTunes to restore". I come home from school, I hope on my computer and connect the USB to my iPod open iTunes click the restore button, Ask me if im sure I want to restore and all that other stuff. After I clicked the second restore it tells me that it can't download the software from my iPod.

1.Before Import check whether user importing has read,write on directory.
2.Always Try to Add logfile clause This will help.
3.Add TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE if you want target schema tables to be replaced by source schema table(if both has same table)

How to get message in realtime sent by another user using FM TH_POPUP?

I want to program a chat function between two SAP users by using ABAP.
1.User A send a message to user B by using TH_POPUP,
At the same time, the message is showed in screen as
'Send message'
2.User B get the message
->My problem is how to get the message in realtime which I want to show it in screen as 'Received message'.
Can anybody tell me how to get the message sent by using FM TH_POPUP in realtime?

This really isn't a "conversation" type program
1) What does the original user do after sending the message -- I'm not sure if there's a WAIT_FOR_REPLY and even if there were I'm not sure you'd want the original user to have a suspended session waiting for a reply.
2) What does the 2nd user do after receiving the message --if it's just thrown up on his screen then there isn't any mechanism to return a reply from USER A'S SESSION.
You need somehow to have a continually running process which will send a message for example to user B and create an event or do somethimg so that User B is bound to the same session that sends the original message.
2 different users running the same abap don't actually have any common link between them even on remote function calls.
You need to have a central process here that shares a message space between the users (i.e a kernel type module).
Classical Abap won't do (nor is it designed for) these types of processes.
You might be able to find something in some of the 'C' coded kernel calls but as I previously posted before you are far better off using Windows for this type of stuff. (Windows Messenger for example).
ABAP unfortunately is not designed as a multi user "re-entrant" programming language - nor was it intended to be.
Another possible get around is to use the workflow system. User A sends a message which raises an event. This then starts a workflow which transmits say message to user B and notifies him of a message waiting for him. User B can reply which again raises an event and triggers workflow routing the message / reply back to user A.
The response time won't be very good but at least it will work without tying up 2 user dialog sessions - but seriously guys I'd give up on this and just use Windows Messenger or equivalent system.
These type of programs depend on a central server for the message handling - you'd have to replicate this in ABAP -- and Im 120% sure it can't be done.

Sometimes my GF leaves iTunes running thru AirTunes.
Is there any easy way to bump her off so I can use it without going to her machine and quitting iTunes?

How to transfer music from another pc using ipod as file storage

a friend of mine loaded his entire library into my ipod classic as a file and i am having trouble comnverting it back into music so my ipod can sync it as music . also how to you get rid of duplicates

Does anyone know the process to authorize more than one computer to play and recognize an ipod's library? I want to use my ipod on my home computer and work one as well? I want to keep the same library and not lose anything.

You don't need to authorise a computer to use an iPod on it. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. Once your iPod is set to manual you can connect it to other computers and other iTunes libraries without the message that it is linked to another library:

Hi Partha,
There is no way out to kill a user's session in RAR, nor in UME. The only place you can kill a user's session is in backend (R/3 side of a particular system) in T-code: SM04->select a particular session of any user-> end session.

Ipod says another ipod user is using the software

I am trying to charge/import, but the message says another user is using the ipod software. I am the only ipod in my home that even uses the software. How can it be confused? What can I do?

try the following:
Close iTunes.
Open the Task Manager.
Select the Processes tab.
Find "iPodService.exe" and click it, then click the End Process button to close it.
Do the same for "iTunesHelper.exe".
Close the Task Manager.
Start iTunes

When I connect my iPod which has only been owned for a week to my PC, it says that another user on the computer is connected to the Ipod software. This is incorrect. I have reset the IPod, but still cannot make the iPod talk to the PC. Help!!!

As Peeble said, Thomas & Ronnie, this sounds like "fast user switching" is enabled in XP. iTunes & fast user do not get along. See the following link for troubleshooting instructions.

IPod in use by another user

My iPod recently froze during an update and now when I plug it into my mac iTunes says "The ipod "ipod" is in use by another user on this computer". I don't have any other users. I know it's not a problem with the ipod because it works when plugged into my roomates computer. So, I tried uninstalling iTunes, throwing aways the preferences and the old library files and reinstalling from scratch. Much to my dismay, my computer still issues the same error. I read similar posts on this site, but they all had to do with fast user switching on a Windows. I have a powermac G4 and I can't seem to get the problem to go away on this computer.

Reset your iPod by pressing and hold the "Menu" and the centre button for about 10 seconds. It should be fine.

Is there any way to suppress the "ipod is in use by another user on this computer" message that appears when you use fast user switching.
my wife and I share a mac pro and when flipping between sessions, this message gets to be a bit annoying. i.e. if her itouch is plugged in and she is managing it through her library, if I fast user switch to my session, I get the warning dialog (ok to clear) I mention above. This is kind of annoying now, since I understand I won't be able to manage that ipod from my itunes session.
is there anyway to suppress this behavior?

I've seen this iPod error before, but I don't know why it occurs. In my experience, restarting the computer solves the problem.

IPod shuffle is in use by another user

when I try to connect my iPod shuffle, it tells me that it is in use by another user on my computer. The reality is that I am the main and only user of the computer. I have created other accounts. They do not use iTunes or iPod.
The problem occurred when I had to force iTune to quit as it was not responding.
I re-installed the iPod software using iPod Updater 2005-09-06.
