Another v7.2 podcast-related bug

I have a 2G nano (8GB) and notice that the count representing new (unlistened) files in the nano's Podcasts folder does not update when syncing. If I have, say, 150 podcasts in the folder, add 2 more to my library and then sync, the 2 extra podcasts do transfer over but the little gray bubble with white text still shows 150 next to the Podcasts folder entry under my nano in iTunes. If I click on the Podcasts folder, the resulting listing indicates that all 152 podcasts are indeed present. Also, if I eject and reconnect the nano, the count will become correct.

This doesn't help because a preview updates the date
variable, even when auto update is set to off. When the topic is
not edited, RH doesn't prompt to save the topic and consequently
the updated date isn't saved . With edits, save dialog comes up and
additionally header/footer dialog because date in footer has
changed.

I think that we need an option like Colum McAndrew described
in the thread you're referring to. An option not to update a
template variable when applied to a topic, or when previewing a
topic.

Another preview related bug???

I have another issue with preview:
- I update text within the body of a topic (I DO NOT toch
header/footer that are set in template)
- Do a preview
- Close/save topic
- RH comes up with dialog saying:
"This topic was created from a template and the header of
footer has been modified.
What would you like to do:
- Apply this modification to all topics created from the
template
- Apply this modification to this topic only"
Again, I never touched header/footer.
Can anyone using 7.0.2 confirm this behavior?

Podcasting app bug

Using the podcasting function to update automatically at a certain time does work, however after having connected and updated the podcast app does not disconnect the 3g connection. Because of this the schedule option is pretty useless as if it is used, the battery will run out in no time.
Also just a suggestion - for the timed podcast updater, it would be a good idea for the podcast app to startup automatically at the alloted time to download the podcasts - at the moment if you dont have the podcasting app open at the time - the automatic update wont run. Another alternative would be to have an option in the podcaster app where you can make it startup when the N95 8gb turns on.
(As already mentioned I am using an N95 8GB).
Is this the best way of making suggestions/bug issues to Nokia usuing this site? I want to help out and point out bugs but not sure where to do so.

ITunes Podcast iPhone bugs?

1. Does anyone know how to transfer specific podcast track to iPhone?
2. I think I found a bug in iTunes. I have 4 podcast tracks (#1,2,3,4) the #1 is already played while the rest are not. In the podcast sync setting, the "3 most recent unplayed" will transfer track #2,3,4 to iPhone while setting "3 least recent unplayed" transfer tracks #1,2,3. But track #1 is already played why it is still being transferred?
3. Another annoying thing is that iTunes doesn't care about podcast track #. If you have track #1...10 that are encoded at different time order, iTunes will only sort tracks based on date, not the track # defined in the tag. Let's say if re-encode #3 then iTunes will think it is the most recent track. Any cure to this?

If, when your iPhone is plugged in, you click on your iPhone in iTunes. You'll see the main screen, click on the podcast tab. You can select what you want it to sync. By clicking on the Sync _____ episode button, you get a number of options to select. Play with those and see if they meet your needs.

Inspector is wrong! podcast duration bug/error

Here's what happened: using iWeb to publish a podcast. After eight episodes, noticed that using an ampersand ("&") in the description made for ugliness in RSS and iTunes ("&" becomes "&-amp" or something). So I go back and edit every entry -- changing "&" to "and." Then I publish. Oh, I also changed the name of the website and the podcast page in the "Site Organizer" area for more clarity.
Suddenly, episodes are reappearing in my personal iTunes Podcast library, as if I haven't downloaded them yet (so there's a ghost episode wiith "Get" next to it under each ep). If it were just because the description changed, I might understand (though not accept). But the weirdest part is, the duration has also changed -- each episode now says it's 10-15 seconds longer than it actually is. If you "Get" a doubled episode with the wrong time stamp, the time reverts to being correct once the download completes.
But here's the real problem: when I go into my Entries in iWeb and open the Inspector, then go to RSS > Podcast, the duration is incorrect there. The mp3 file it's referring to has not changed, nor has it been damaged. Somehow the Inspector just decided out of the blue to add some time to each duration for no apparent reason.
So I manually edited my RSS, but the episodes are still appearing twice in my podcast library (even after clicking Update), and every time I publish I will probably have to manually edit the RSS if I want the time to be correct, since the Inspector, and hence iWeb, has the time wrong.
Anyone else seen this? It's gotta be a bug, and I don't anticipate there being a fix for it, but I thought I might find comfort in knowing others have run into this.
Ideal outcome? I don't want my subscribers to get confused and think they have to re-download old episodes, so I'd like for the ghosts/doubles to disappear from subscribers' podcast libraries. I'd also like to be able to get the time stamp/duration to read correctly in the Inspector so that I don't have to manually change that in the RSS file after every time I publish.

Request fix for timezone related bugs

To Adobe Lightroom employees...
Even the new release of LR3 still has age old timezone bugs which are likely infuriating for anyone who shoots in more than a single timezone.
Problem 1: LR ignores camera metadata relating to timezone.
Solution 1: Include a time/date panel in the importer dialog. If camera metadata is present, use it to set defaults. Provide options for shifting both the time and the timezone (e.g. can shift 2010-01-01T01:05:06+01:00 to become 2010-01-01T01:02:03-02:00). This info can be stored in LR database and in exported XMP data.
Problem 2: LR exports incorrect timezone data.
Solution 2: Due to EXIF limitations this cannot be guaranteed correct. Provide an option to export EXIF date/time using a specified timezone (origination/computer/other).
Other problems: File renaming issues relating to timezones, sorting in grid view, etc.
Solutions: If every file has an assigned timezone, all these should become moot points, as information is held to get it right.
The bottom line is that most timezone issue have been present since Lightroom was initially released, and numerous people are frustrated with having purchased a leading product with a glaring set of bugs which corrupt valuable metadata, and interrupt workflow. Providing fixes for these bugs and facilities for handling them sensibly and gracefully, along with default options to provide the current behaviors, allows for the best of both worlds. Date/time are key bits of metadata for any photo, and an inability to handle this properly in one of the leading brands of software is, quite frankly, inexcusable. New features keep being included, yet important basic functionality such as this gets left aside; please prioritize this for the next release to appease many long-suffering, paying customers.

I too wish that Lightroom would handle date/times with time zones and let users manipulate them. LR 3 consistently ignores time zones; see this post for details:

I think the root cause of this mess is that the EXIF standard, defined in 1998, doesn't support time zones (hard to believe that a standards committee would make such a basic mistake). Even though Adobe's XMP standard requires the use of time zones, LR ignores them!

Podcast Audio Bug

When playing podcasts the sound cuts out after system notifications and locking and unlocking. It's exactly like the audio bug I experienced on my first gen phone after an OS upgrade. I'm not sure if this is new since upgrading to 4.0.1 It only happens with podcasts, other MP3s don't have the problem. Can anyone else replicate this?

Itunes Podcast Directory Bug!

I submitted my video podcast into the itunes directory back when 4.9 came out. I was not aware of the needed itunes rss features that must be implemented for it to work. After feedburner (my feed host) added those features, I tried to resubmit the video podcast
iTunes gave me the response that it was already submitted and therefore would not be acceppted. The problem is that it was rejected because it did not have those features turned on
I have sumbitted a feed from my second vidoe podcast, and it went through great, but the main video podcast is what I want to be in the directory
How can I get them to allow me to resubmit!?

Michael, you need to close the Information Window before you can do anything with another file. I think that's the way it's always worked in iTunes.

Is there any way to launch another module with a relative URL?

I'm trying to connect the end of one module to the beginning of another (daisy-chain.)
I've been trying to do it by putting a button on the last slide and then setting the button to open the other module's htm file. But it seems to only take specific and not relative URLs. This is problematic because my client has the material first on a test server and then on a live server, so the URLs will be changing.
Is there another way to do this where I can use relative URLs or some other method?

Apologies if I misunderstood, and you have already set up Flash Security to trust the publish folder location. In general, when someone asks a question on this forum about problems getting links to work between Captivate modules the reason is almost always that they are testing the links from locally published files or from a LAN server but they haven't set up Flash Global Security to trust the publish folder location. That's why it's the first thing I quote.
Captivate DOES allow you to use relative links to load other daisy-chained content. For example, if you have a SWF file from one course module calling content from another module in a nearby folder, you can use relative link addressing to open the other file. The format of the link slashes is different depending on whether you are serving from a LAN or a web server. The web uses forward slashes. LANs use back slashes.
If you ARE trying to test Captivate HTM/SWF content from a local drive or LAN server you must get Flash Global Security set up first. If you intend to serve your content to end users from a LAN, then you have no choice except to have all learners consuming that content to set their Flash Global Security settings to trust the drive or folder containing that content. This is not a Captivate issue, it's a Flash Player issue, and it's the result of security measures taken by Adobe several years ago to prevent Flash content from being used maliciously as a virus. The unfortunate downside is that it also limits the usability of Flash content if served from a LAN. But you need to remember that Flash was really designed as a web-based format. So you find that content served from a web server instead of a LAN server has no issues with Flash Security.

Podcast Playback bug...

I'm using black iPhone 4s 32 gig. When I'm listening to a podcast, I typcially will listen at 2x speed. (I'm wearing the apple earbuds.) Everything is great until a phone call comes in. The audio fades down and then I hear the ringer. I take the call. When I hang up, the podcast starts up again - but this time at 1X speed. When I go to the "Now Playing" screen, I see that the 2X speed indicator is still on. I have to tap through to 1/2, then 1, then back to 2x to get the audio to speed back up. Seems like a bug in the software. This is my first iPhone, so I can't say if this is a 4S issue or and IOS5 issue. Maybe others can try it out and see if the same thing hapens to you.

Itunes with Podcasts - serious bug - cant delete

Hi all
Im using the latest version of Itunes with my 60gb ipod on XP, and ive noticed a serious bug where once you add podcasts to your ipod via itunes, you cant delete them in itunes at all - they stay grey even when the device is disconnected.
You try to highlight one and press delete, but its faded out. How do I resolve this?

Ok, first off, is your iPod in automatic update?
Try putting it into manual update. Then you should be able to remove the podcast.

New podcast updating bug?

I have a new problem.
Once I listen to all the shows of a podcast on my iPhone, no new ones automatically sync.
I go to Devices>iPhone and then to the Podcasts tab, and under the Podcast list, the podcast I had been syncing is UNCHECKED! I can check that box again and hit Apply to make new shows move onto my iPhone.
I'm saying that the new version of iTunes has a bug where once you listen to all the shows of a podcast, it automatically de-selects future syncing.
Is anyone else having this problem?

That's because Podcasts are not music (as far as iTunes is concerned). To Sync Podcasts, you need to check the appropriate fields on the Podcast pane, which you can find when you connect your iPod to iTunes.
Once connected, click on the device and then look for the Podcasts pane/tab.

To Call Another Form and Save Related MAster Data from a Transaction Form

Hi
Our project requires that forms for creating masters be called whenever the value (Key Value) being referenced in other forms are not found. For doing this I had used the When-Validate-Item Trigger and checked for the key value in the master tables and if not present, I use the Call_Form method to call the master form and create the key value and then come back to the Form in which I was working to continue processing the rest of the data.
It works well if the CAlling forms is in INSERT MODE but Not in UPDATE MODE ( returns a message A Calling Form has unapplied Changes, Cannot Save data (Error: FRM-40403)).
This same feature I tried to work it out around with a Key-Next-Item Trigger, it works fine for both the cases but as long as the user tabs out of the field from keyboard controls like the Enter Key or the Tab Key. But in case he wishes to click on the next field or some other button with a mouse OR he uses a keyboard shortcut to do some other operation viz. F10 for saving data, the trigger is not fired and that returns a ORACLE error (in case a database Integration issue arises) OR saves an invalid data.
I would like to know what kind of triggers could we write to exactly call a master form to save a new key value irrespective of whether the calling form is working in INSERT mode or QUERY Mode.
One way to do it is to use EXIT_FORM(DO_COMMIT, NO_ROLLBACK). But if the Primary/Calling form is closed without a Commit, then the related Master DAta is also Not Saved.
Please Let me know if we can save the master data whatever be the state of the CAlling Form permanently.

You are going to need to POST in the Called Form rather than committing (and make sure that you do not rollback when you exit).
The Post will insert the master record into the DB but it will not be committed until you issue the commit in the Calling Form.

Can I take my SIM Card out of my 3GS and insert it in another 3GS?   My daughter dropped my phone in the toilet tonight.   Can I take my SIM card that I've removed and simply put it in another 3GS phone (a relative's old phone) and it work?

My 4 year old daughter dropped my 3GS in the toilet tonight. Otterboxes are not waterproof in case you were wondering. : /
While my turned off phone is buried in a bag of rice, is it possible that I can take the now removed SIM card and put it in another 3GS for the interim? I have an other 3GS (my mom's old one that we use as an iTouch for the kids) on hand that is attached to my apple ID.
If this is possible, is it as simple as taking out the SIM card in my mom's old phone and replacing it with mine?   And does this mess anything up when / if I'm able to salvage my toilet phone?   Can I take the SIM card and simply put it back in my phone after having used it in the other one?

Put the SIM in the other phone and Restore it from Backup in iTunes. If the old one revives reverse the process.
