Another Verizon (Iphone) Data Plan Rip off!

Once again Verizon is trying to rip off their customers by giving them no choice when it comes to data plans if you want an Iphone. Just like they tried to force data plans on Feature Phones last year, now if you want an Iphone you must spend $29.99 a month. Thats great if you spend all day on your phone, but some of us don't want unlimited data. We do want an Iphone though. That's the way to take care of your customers VERIZON!!!!

Dueceko131 don’t pay attention to those two clowns. Just because the $30 dollar plan works for them doesn’t mean it works for everyone. To make a statement that if you want a 150mb plan then you don’t need a smartphone just goes to show how little common sense they have. Must be they haven’t heard of WiFi. If the unlimited works for you great, but there are a lot of other people out there that will just be wasting money. Looks like verizon has a couple of fanboys here.
KUDOS to ktm250.... I am sick of the fanboys!! They are getting old and annoying !!!!!
I for one know I only need 150mb and want the iphone because of the great screen and its functions. I own a itouch and a ipad and manage them greatly with only wifi. I just always wished my itouch would be able to make a call so I don't have to carry both the itouch and a cell phone. Well here is my chance.. A iphone. But I an not able to pay extra for a $30 data package.

  • Another question?  Is 2G iPhone data plan lower than 3G iPhone data plan?

If I take a 2G iPhone into AT&T and get it set up, is the data plan rate for 200 text messages and internet lower than the 3G iPhone data plan rate. I know the 3G in $30 + $5 (200 text messages) = $35. What would it be for the 2G?
    Thanks...
(I want to give my wife my 2G to replace her flip phone and get me a new 3G)

The First Generation iPhone is $20 for Unlimited Data and includes 200 SMS text messages, You can add more to the plan but it will be an additional cost. For $40 total you get Unlimited Text and Data usage.

  • Verizon Max Data Plans are not a deal

I just read about the Olive Branch Verizon has extended to us obstinate unlimited data plan holders.
The Max Data Plans are a weed dressed up to look like an Olive Branch.
I did the math on my unlimited nill vs a Max Bill with Edge phones.   Currently I pay $201.75 for two lines + unlimited data.
I have an S4, so I don't need a new phone,  but if I did I would go Note 3.  My wife has an iPhone 5 64gb, so a 5s 64gb would be a good choice.
After crunching the numbers and entering Edge would go up to 221.68 per month.   That's right up not down.
Knowing this, why would I give up unlimited
    data?

    Michael,
I am so tired of reading these Verizon forums, and seeing all these people who have been victimized by losing their unlimited data become Verizon's biggest defenders. Misery truly loves company. I don't care what they say, be it saving a few bucks for losing unlimited data (yet ignoring opportunity costs in keeping unlimited data OR even leveraging the unlimited data in other ways by utilizing "assumption of liability"), or praying for this magical day of July, 2014 when we're all supposed to lose unlimited data (which is complete and utter nonsense, forget speculation.) I thought that Verizon was supposed to be the one providing us a service, and not the other way around...though I suppose the Stockholm Syndrome folks enjoy that, I guess.
Problem is there doesn't appear to be many people who have unlimited data offering information that would help people like us KEEP unlimited data; all it is are these people inundating these forums with misinformation and misery about losing unlimited data.
So I will just tell you what I did to upgrade and hope that points you in the right direction.
Recently, I did use the Device Payment Plan (different from Edge, which sounds like utter garbage) to get a Note 2. 700 divided by 12 plus $24 total. I figured why not; anything to get off this Samsung Droid Charge. Now, I am utilizing the alternate upgrade method, which allows me to upgrade a basic phone in my plan and switch that phone to the line with the Note 2, which I then will give the Note 2 to the wife, who also has an unlimited data plan. I probably should have done this earlier, but I initially thought it'd be too much work. However, after I did the math, even after activation fees and such, I still get a better phone at a better price than if I Device Payment Plan'ed it.
I will let you know how it goes...I have three unlimited data plans that I can do a "transfer only" to get the hot new phones, and I plan on using anyone of them. And despite what some of you Verizon apologists say, I do not lose unlimited data when I transfer an upgrade to another line, which apparently, I can do THREE times...
I am just sick and tired of seeing these people inundate folks with such bad information. Since this is a peer-to-peer forum where Verizon customers help each other, I figure let me help my fellow Verizon customers SAVE their unlimited data and also help lead in the ignoring of these bitter haters who just want other people to be miserable by having you lose your unlimited data plan.

  • VZ iphone: Data plans?  wifi?

What are the available plans from Verizon? I thought I saw an unlimited data plan for $30 per month. Is that on top of the phone plan? How much would that be?
How does the data plan work? If I go to a fancy website, or if someone sends a large image in an email, it eats at the amount of data I'm alloted?
Can iPhone work on Wifi? I most often use my iPod Touch at home, via Wifi and I'm happy to continue doing that, only using the 3G when I'm out and about. Is that resonable?

The chosen data plan if more than one data plan is available to choose from including an unlimited data plan, this is in addition to and on top of your chosen calling and messaging plan. More than likely Verizon will not have special calling plans just for the iPhone. As with AT&T, more than likely you choose from any of Verizon's standard calling plans which are the same regardless the phone, and your chosen messaging plan and data plan are in addition to and on top of your chosen calling plan.

When connected to Verizon's cellular network for internet access, yes, and only if you choose a data plan that is not unlimited if such a data plan will be available. If you choose the unlimited data plan, no, but even the unlimited data plan has a limit - 5GB per month I believe, which would be difficult to exceed or come close to in a month.
Can iPhone work on Wifi? I most often use my iPod Touch at home, via Wifi and I'm happy to continue doing that, only using the 3G when I'm out and about.

  • Can I use my existing verizon phone data plan with my iPad 2?

I have a data plan with my verizon smart phone.  I want to buy an iPad 2 with 3G capabilities but I would hate have 2 bills for 3G service.  Can I use my existing phone data plan with my iPad or do I have to set up a seperate data plan for my iPad?

Your best answer will come from Verizon' customer service.

  • Iphone data completely wiped off

I had set a passcode on my Iphone 5, to avoid my kid tampering with the iphone. My complete data got wiped off my iphone recently, probably due to my kid typing in the wrong passcode more than 10 times. When I contacted Apple technical support, I was told that the wipe data option is 'off' by default and Im dead sure that I havent turned it 'on' (as I never knew this option existed before this incident!). Is there anyway I can know when was this option was enabled, so that I can know who may have done this? Im sure my kid would not have turned it on by mistake, as you need to enter the passcode to get into this option.

Thanks for your response. On that particular day, when i checked my phone, I was directed to setup a new profile. and all the data, including contacts, photos and videos were erased. I assume that my kid may have typed in the wrong passcode more than ten times, which had triggered the erasing of data.
This is a personal phone and nobody else has access to the phone except me.
The other thing that intrigues me is that the 'Erase Data' option can be accessed only once we enter the Passcode Lock screen after keying in the right passcode. There is no other person who knew the passcode, hence there is no other way that somebody else would have turned the 'Erase Data' on. And assuming the 'Erase data' is 'off' by default, how did my data get erased?

JJMack and normfb - Thank you for your answers. Actually the answer of normfb would work for me better, since I was using the transformation values for dimensions only. Now I just CommandClick on the layer and I have what I need without subtracting.
    Thank you both of you.

  • Well Planned rip off

Yeah been using Photoshop CS for a few years and it works, my "Camera Raw" plugin worked well.
But I Made the mistake of upgrading my cam, and of course upgrading my cam is not that easy, no , I have to update the raw plugin too, but Adobe has decided not to make the raw plugin compatible with my old faithful CS now i have to update my Photoshop to CS3 so it turns out the most expensive part of buying a new camera is is not the camera, it is the software.
Now I understand why terrorits exist.
if anyone has an answer to how I can avoid having to mortgage my house so that i can use my new camera
    I would be very grateful.

    David,
" Yeah, noticed all film and camera technology ground to a halt after E6 was introduced in '77. "
Don't know what that's supposed to mean, but since it refers to my point about Film companies not sharing proprietary information, I simply meant just what I said. They don't and didn't. The DNG specification would force camera companies to share information they consider to be their trade secrets. They ain't gonna do it.
Additionally, the DNG specification makes no provision for technology already in use by one camera maker, Fujifilm, that sets it apart from others. They consider their secret their advantage and rightly so. Why would they conform to a RAW file specification that does not allow them to use their secret weapon?
As Mike says, It's all about market share. The only way Fujifilm can compete with a monolith like Canon is to have something special that the big guy doesn't. If Fujifilm isn't allowed to use its secret, or if they have to reveal it to a bigger competitor, they can't compete. The big guy would have the advantage both ways.
Fujifilm has always been a niche player in the camera business. They have had a very tiny piece of the camera pie, but their following has been very loyal. They have made very high quality medium format, range finder film cameras utilizing a larger than usual medium format size. Their equipment was highly prized by those who were interested.
Today, their flagship camera is a high dynamic range digital SLR which has a CCD sensor with 2 photosites (S and R to capture a few more stops dynamic range than "standard" CMOS or CCD sensors) for every pixel. No other camera has such a sensor.
Theirs is a niche market and they have been selling very well to wedding photographers (and many others) who praise the Fujifilm S5 for its ability to hold detail in the highlights of white dresses as well as deep shadows in the image area.
No RAW decoding software but Fujifilm's properly extracts the full high dynamic range information. Fujifilm refuses to give Adobe or anyone else the information needed to properly do it and reverse engineering apparently has not worked, or has not been worth the effort. ACR is particularly deficient with S5 RAW files.
All the Fujifilm cameras (S2, S3, S5) employ a hexagonal array, as opposed to the rectilinear array on all other cameras. The hex arrangement results in increased resolution in the vertical and horizontal directions but lower resolution in the diagonals. Rectilinear arrays are the opposite.
ACR HAD done a pretty good job with the Fujifilm S2 camera by reverse engineering the hex-related decoding, but the S3 and S5 high dynamic range files - not so good.
DNG makes no provision for the Fujifilm HDR technology. Why should Fujifilm play nice with Adobe?
I've only used the Fujifilm situation to illustrate. The concept applies to others as well. To compete, they need to have an advantage. DNG removes advantages.
There is a very big misunderstanding about standards benefitting the consumer vs standards becoming innovation-stifling constraints.
It was an advantage for all 35mm camera makers to make cameras which used the same size film. And it was an advantage for all film makers to provide 35 mm film at the same physical size. But those particular constraints didn't tie film manufacturers hands when cooking up distinctive light sensitive emulsions. In the digital world, DNG effectively prevents development beyond today's technology.
I realize, re-reading my previous post that I created confusion regarding the software that camera manufacturers produce. In general, the stuff SUCKS in terms of user interface, logic of user command structure, speed of operation, stability. As I've already said, in the case of at least Fujifilm, one must put up with that behavior to extract the best image quality from S5 RAW files.

  • Verizon data plan

I'm confused about the verizon wireless data plans for the iPad 3. The apple site has a 1 GB plan for $20! Bit hat plan is not listed on the iPad 3 site for Verizon. Has anyone confirmed I'd there is a $20 plan with Verizon?
Also, I currently have a $20 2GB plan with Verizon on my iPad 2. Has anyone found out if this plan can be transferred to an iPad 3?
    Thanks

When I ordered my iPad 2 I encountered the same confuse. It seems the Verizon people do not have a clue about the service that can be ordered directly on the iPad.
I originally set up a 2GB data plan for $30 per month. I quickly discovered that I did not need that much data and was able to change my plan to the $20 per month for 1 GB. Wait until your iPad comes. Even if you have to cancel the account on your first iPad and start a new one on your new iPad there will be less hassle than trying to set something up Asa Verizon store or on the phone with Verizon.

  • NFL Mobile Data Plan

I have been unable to run NFL Mobile on my Incredible for the last couple of days.  It was working before (although I no longer have free access to Redzone).  Now when I try to load it, I get the error "Your current data plan is not supported. Nfl Mobile requires a Verizon Wireless data plan of 2GB or more."  Problem is that I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered).  Even if I wasn't grandfathered, I certainly pay for at least a 2GB plan.  How can I get this app to work again?

    Hi lpgonzales,
It must be frustrating not being able to access the NFL Mobile application (this is one of my favorites). Try clearing the data on the application. Go to Apps > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select All > Scroll down to NFL Mobile and Clear Data > Power off device > Remove the battery for ten seconds > Place back in and power on. If this does not resolve your concerns try removing the application and download/re-install.
    Keep us posted.

Try turning on wifi and see if it works because this may be another issue with the app....  Also remeber that a number of users have had issues bacause of the network issue do to the 4g upgrads that is rumored on Nov 15, 2011.

  • Any News yet for Family Data? Or any Data Plan Discounts?

Its been over a month that Verizon changed their mind of not doing the Family Data Plan. Not just that, the iPhone 5's event will take place October 4th so there is supposed to be news soon. Are there any data plan discounts yet?

  • Looking to get a data plan for the sole purpose of playing online video games

    Hi everyone,
I live in the mountains of Pine Valley, CA and the seclusion is becoming intolerable.  I'm looking to get a data plan with Verizon to play online video games, namely Diablo 3 or failing that due to latency, then Civilization 5.  Can anyone give me pointers on if this would work and what plan I could get?  Currently, I have a plan with Boost Mobile which uses Sprint cell phone towers.  I tested my internet connection with speedtest.net and received a ping as low as 140 and as high as 1000, but I'm hoping the 1000 is just due to reception issues that can be fixed with a better antenna.    The 140 ping is a little high too but I'm hoping this will be better on the Verizon network since I think their cellphone towers are closer.  The closest landmark to me is the Golden Acorn Casino at 1800 Golden Acorn Way  Campo, CA 91906.  If anyone could tell me the distance from Verizon's cell tower to the casino and Sprint's and could estimate a ping value based on that, I would really appreciate it.
I like Verizon's data plan for 10gb but I'm confused on device connectivity.  Is this the data plan plus whatever router device I hook it up to? I would also need some sort of antenna and a router, wireless or wired.  Can anyone give me pointers on how to find these?  An estimation on Ping and bandwith speed and also on peak hours in my area would be nice too.  Thanks to anyone that can help me with this!  Oh, and while I don't think my area has coverage for 4g, though I'm pretty sure there is 3g, would I possibly get 4g if I had a strong enough antenna?

Homefusion comes with antenna that is mounted OUTSIDE of your dwelling. That why they send someone out to install it. It also comes with the router. You're thinking of Share Everything data only plans. Where you pay $20 for the mi-fi and then pay extra on the data pending how much you want.  Share Everything with a mi-fi and 10 GB would be $80 a month when you can get Homefusion for $60 for the same 10 GB. An considering the antenna is more power and outside you're a lot more likely to get reception with Homefusion. In either case it should be noted you'll need to pass a credit check and sign a two year contract.

  • Macbook using up data plan

Ever since getting a Macbook Pro, I have been using up over 13GB of my Verizon MIFI data plan.  I was at 6 or 7 GB before with my PC.  What gives?

There's no easy way to monitor bandwidth usage per process using built-in tools. The third-party utilities Rubbernet and Little Snitch are supposed to do it, though I can't vouch for either. Both were available as free trials, the last time I checked. I suggest you uninstall whichever you use when the question has been answered.
