  • BT Graphite 1500 answer machine

the answer machine doesn't allow messages to be recorded.
It answers ok, asks caller to leave a message, then after about 5 seconds closes call and no recording is left.
The answer and record option is on and I have changed the batteries.
    Any ideas?

    Hi phutcherson,
    Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like a fault, how long have you had the phone?

  • BT Inspire 1500 (Way to make it silent?)

I purchased BT Inspire 1500 and I would like a way to make it silent. I tried all settings and nothing works. It seems to me like you can only make the ringer silent. The problem is that there is a noisy beep that I don't see a way to switch off. I often go to bed early and I don't want anyone to wake me up, so that is why I bought a phone with an answering machine. At the moment all this phone does is make a lot of noise.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Have you checked the user guide out here// if you check out page 24 and page 25 there are different options for switching off the tone to both the handset and base station.
There is also a shorcut shown for turning handset tone off:
As a quick way to switch the handset
ringer off, press and hold *

  • Answer Machine for BT Freelance XB2500 does not op...

I have just purchased a quad set of BT XB2500 - these were to replace BT Struass 1500 Trio that went 'faulty'.
The fault was that when the answering machine switched in, it cut out and didn't offer the outgoing message and didn't record any messages. I purchased the XB2500 yesterday and upon setting them up and testing the answering machine.... I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!
I have had a look at the incoming line and there are 2 wires and no other connections/extensions on the system.
Can the incoming line affect the answerphone? It does seem a little odd. I have no other features set up on my line to affect it. I am totally lost and another £90 out of pocket.... can any body help?
    Thanks J

did you get the problem sorted as i am having the same problem with my phone

  • Inspire 1500-Nameing Handsets and Using Intercom

    Hi All
I have just set up a new Inspire 1500 with 4 x handsets.  I have named each of the handsets Bedroom, Study, Hall, Kitchen and am now playing with the intercom feature.
When I select Intercom I expected/hoped that I would get the list of re-named handsets but this is not the case, I still get a scroll down menu of Handset 1, 2, 3, 4.  Is there a way of updating the Intercom list to the new handset names Bedroom, Study, Hall, Kitchen?  I have tried to re-register the hand sets with the Base Station and this makes no difference.
    Thanks
    jhdeano

The only problem I can see with associating an aspire handset with the 6500 base station is that it "may'" not filter out the barred type of calls. It may be worth trying. If it does work perhaps you could come back to the forum and let us know. I am sure that the barring is done on the base station.

  • Answer machine

    Hello
Last August there was a huge thunder storm in this area and an electricity pylon was struck.
When I returned home from work my computer and answer machine did not work (although my home hub and telephone were ok ) and I assumed a power surge had killed them.
I replaced the computer and my broadband connection worked as it should however when I got around to replacing the answer machine the telephone worked but the answer machine would not record messages, I thought I had a faulty set so I exchanged it for another but with the same result.
I didn't get around to taking it back so last week I bought another answer machine but a different model and the same thing is happening, the phone works but it will not record messages. I took both sets to where I work, plugged them in and they both work perfectly.
I have contacted the BT fault line and was advised that there is nothing wrong with my phone line so I am at a loss at what to do next
Has anyone come across this before or has any ideas of what the problem might be and how I can fix it?
    Many thanks
    xxx

    Hi zara-p and welcome.
To be honest, most people I know who are BT customers have given up on answer machines. Have a look at this:-
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25504&s_intcid=con_se...
Replacing machines/repairing them is for many a thing of the past. Many handsets come with them built in, but the link above might be worth a look at.
I dont know why your machine wont work, and TBH, I wouldnt waste your time trying to find out. Sell it or give it to a friend or relative and use the service that BT provide Free of charge is my advice.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can send but can't receive faxes on HP Laserjet, on Mac 10.9 Mavericks with TAM answering machine

I have an iMac running OS 10.9 (Mavericks) and an HP Laserjet Professional M1212nf MFP all-in-one print/scan/fax machine connected by USB.  I have a telephone system with answering machine connected.
I can send out faxes from the HP and from the Mac (using Fax pdf).  What I can't do is receive faxes on the HP (I know that the Mac cannot receive faxes with this machine).  I've tried every combination of settings to no avail  even disconnecting the phone/answering machine to no avail.
Any ideas what settings I need?

    Hi ChuckStewart,
This is certainly a head scratcher! I have found some additional information, from the following link Using an HP Fax Product with a Telephone Answering Machine (TAM).
I found this blurb interesting, When recording the outgoing message on your TAM, the voice portion should be at least 10 seconds long, but no longer than 20 seconds . Record 5 to 7 seconds of silence at the end of the voice portion of your outgoing message (total outgoing message length would be your voice message plus the additional 5 to 7 seconds of recorded silence ).
I wonder if you might find something helpful in the document.
    Please let me know. thanks.

  • Fax and Answer machine issue

Now hat I have my HP6500A Plus connected the fax works great.  However my answer machine will no take messages.

    Hello A082692a,
First important question is, is it a real answering machine or something like a Voicemail service. With a real answering machine click HERE to see how to set up your fax and answering machine. Be awere of the fact that the message you record on your answering machine needs to be recording to several rules. But all this is explained on the page you can reach by clicking on the link above.
Voicemail service will most likely not work with the fax, but there are som e internet sites with thing you can try. A Google search on use a fax with voicemail will help.

  • Your automatic answerer is interfering with my answering machine.

I've had complaints from callers that when they call my landline phone, they hear a (female) voice message instead of my own answering machine message.  This has also happened at times when I've been available to take the calls; I don't hear the phone ring, and the caller tells me later that he got the phone co. message.
How can I get the phone co. message removed so calls will proceed directly to my home phone and my own phone message?

I just contacted a Verizon eCenter rep. through the live chat. She suggested changing my ring cycle (sounds like LOTR), but when I told her that I really just wanted to eliminate the Verizon voice message, she said she could do that. Hopefully it will be removed within the next 2 hrs.

  • Pixma MX 882 in if there is an answer machine on the line I can only receive faxes manually

I have a Pixma MX 882. I was told a while back by Canon Support that if there is an answer machine on the same line as the Canon that I can only receive faxes manually. Has Canon solved the problem.?
HP can do it, Brothers can do it, old Fax only machines can do it

    Hi mort,
This is true...but let me clarify the setup for you.  The answering machine must be connected directly to the printer.   Your phone cord will come from the wall outlet, into your PIXMA MX882 (L port on your printer) and then out (from the phone port) to the answering machine.  With your printer connected between the wall outlet and the answering machine, the printer can "listen in" for a fax on the line when the answering machine picks up.  Be sure the printer is set to Tel Priority mode and the answering machine is set to pick up in about 3 rings.

  • Answer machine messages BT freestyle 335

Is there anyway that I can listen to an answering machine message as it is being left without picking the phone up. I have had the freestyle appx 18 months and have yet to work out how to do this. I have read the quick start guide along with the full user guide on the site and nothing. As we get a few companies calling, cold selling, I like to wait until I know who is calling before I pick up the phone........please help.

    Hi georgeturner,
Are you given the option to change the year? I had a look at the userguide and it mentions changing the "date" without really specifying if you can select the correct year - another customer on the forum had a similar problem and by updating the year it fixed the problem for him.
Let me know how you get on.

  • How do i set my answering machine on again ?

When we were on a varication my brother told me how to set my answering machine off, it was by writing something on my Iphone, a code with ##- something, i don't remember and then the answering machine was switch off.. But now i want it back and i don't now how to do it.. Can somebody help me?

This would be something specific to the service provided by your cell phone service provider, not an inherent function of the iPhone.  You'll have to cantact your service provider and ask them about it.
