Answer machine messages BT freestyle 335

Is there anyway that I can listen to an answering machine message as it is being left without picking the phone up. I have had the freestyle appx 18 months and have yet to work out how to do this. I have read the quick start guide along with the full user guide on the site and nothing. As we get a few companies calling, cold selling, I like to wait until I know who is calling before I pick up the phone........please help.

Hi georgeturner,
Are you given the option to change the year? I had a look at the userguide and it mentions changing the "date" without really specifying if you can select the correct year - another customer on the forum had a similar problem and by updating the year it fixed the problem for him.
Let me know how you get on.

    Hi All,
I have set my handsets to the current day and time but the answer machine quotes the wrong day when speaking the message received details - it always 2 days out ie. later than it should be - when it should quote Wednesday as the day of the message Monday gets spoken out. Any idea why?
    How can I correct this?
    Thanks. George

  • Your automatic answerer is interfering with my answering machine.

I've had complaints from callers that when they call my landline phone, they hear a (female) voice message instead of my own answering machine message.  This has also happened at times when I've been available to take the calls; I don't hear the phone ring, and the caller tells me later that he got the phone co. message.
How can I get the phone co. message removed so calls will proceed directly to my home phone and my own phone message?

I just contacted a Verizon eCenter rep. through the live chat. She suggested changing my ring cycle (sounds like LOTR), but when I told her that I really just wanted to eliminate the Verizon voice message, she said she could do that. Hopefully it will be removed within the next 2 hrs.

    Hi
Can anyone help.  The keypad on the phone is locked and I'm therefore not able to make calls with the phone.  Can only receive calls.  Don't know how the keypad got locked.  Any help would be appreciated.

Er, you could try reading the user guide?
if you have lost it download another one.
I found one on the BT site where it says press and hold the hash key # to lock/unlock.

  • Please hangup message on answering machine

We are getting multiple "Please hang up" messages on our answering machine  ( yes we still use an answring machine)
I am assuming we are getting telemarketing calls and they are hanging up when answering machine answers.
Somehow this process is  generating that our line is open to Verizon and hence the please hang up message.
Is there any way to stop this from happening?
    Thanks

What OS are you running? I can almost guess it is Mavericks.
    Is the internet working fine?
Does the TC show in finder?
Have you tried to mount the disk in finder.. please try that and tell me what happens if it is there.
Is the TC available on the airport utility??

  • Answer machine

    Hello
Last August there was a huge thunder storm in this area and an electricity pylon was struck.
When I returned home from work my computer and answer machine did not work (although my home hub and telephone were ok ) and I assumed a power surge had killed them.
I replaced the computer and my broadband connection worked as it should however when I got around to replacing the answer machine the telephone worked but the answer machine would not record messages, I thought I had a faulty set so I exchanged it for another but with the same result.
I didn't get around to taking it back so last week I bought another answer machine but a different model and the same thing is happening, the phone works but it will not record messages. I took both sets to where I work, plugged them in and they both work perfectly.
I have contacted the BT fault line and was advised that there is nothing wrong with my phone line so I am at a loss at what to do next
Has anyone come across this before or has any ideas of what the problem might be and how I can fix it?
    Many thanks
    xxx

    Hi zara-p and welcome.
To be honest, most people I know who are BT customers have given up on answer machines. Have a look at this:-
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25504&s_intcid=con_se...
Replacing machines/repairing them is for many a thing of the past. Many handsets come with them built in, but the link above might be worth a look at.
I dont know why your machine wont work, and TBH, I wouldnt waste your time trying to find out. Sell it or give it to a friend or relative and use the service that BT provide Free of charge is my advice.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can send but can't receive faxes on HP Laserjet, on Mac 10.9 Mavericks with TAM answering machine

I have an iMac running OS 10.9 (Mavericks) and an HP Laserjet Professional M1212nf MFP all-in-one print/scan/fax machine connected by USB.  I have a telephone system with answering machine connected.
I can send out faxes from the HP and from the Mac (using Fax pdf).  What I can't do is receive faxes on the HP (I know that the Mac cannot receive faxes with this machine).  I've tried every combination of settings to no avail  even disconnecting the phone/answering machine to no avail.
Any ideas what settings I need?
    This question was solved.

    Hi ChuckStewart,
This is certainly a head scratcher! I have found some additional information, from the following link Using an HP Fax Product with a Telephone Answering Machine (TAM).
I found this blurb interesting, When recording the outgoing message on your TAM, the voice portion should be at least 10 seconds long, but no longer than 20 seconds . Record 5 to 7 seconds of silence at the end of the voice portion of your outgoing message (total outgoing message length would be your voice message plus the additional 5 to 7 seconds of recorded silence ).
I wonder if you might find something helpful in the document.
    Please let me know. thanks.

  • "file server is running on your machine" message

OK, this seems very weird & I can't figure out if the issue is in my new (simultaneous dual band) Airport Extreme or the Mac (iMac G5) I use to administer it.
When I try to connect to a USB drive connected to the Extreme from my iMac, & the iMac is connected to the Extreme by ethernet, I see the Extreme in the sidebar of Finder, but when I click on it to access the drive, I get a "connection failed" bar across the top of the Finer window. If I click on the "Connect" button at the end of that bar, I get the following message:
"This file server is running on your machine. Please access the volumes and files locally."
The volumes (the drive is partitioned into two volumes) are not showing up as local ones (in the "Devices" section of the sidebar), so I can't access them "locally."
BUT, if I turn on Airport on the iMac, I get the normal "Connected as ..." bar & the volumes appear as expected in the Finder.
The really weird part is if do not turn on Airport & I use the "Connect to server..." Go menu option & enter "afp://Extreme's_name.local" it connects & either or both volumes mount on the desktop as expected. ("Extreme's_name" is the actual name I have given the device.)
Weirder still, if I have one of these volumed opened in the Finder & click on the Extreme in the sidebar again, I still see the "Connection Failed" bar across the top +yet the volumes are there in the Finder window+, can be opened, & otherwise behave normally.
This behavior persists until I click the eject button in the sidebar, at which point the "Connection Failed" bar reappears & the volumes are no longer listed or accessible. Waaaaa?
FWIW, my MacBook has none of these symptoms. Whether connected by ethernet cable or wirelessly, clicking on the Extreme in the sidebar results in the expected "Connected as ..." behavior.
I tried researching the "running on your machine" message on the web & found some references the problem in connection with Windows (smb) sharing. Sure enough, looking in my keychain access file, I saw several passwords for the Extreme with the "where" info as smb://Extreme's_name. However, deleting these (& even all Extreme-related entries) had no effect.
I'm stumped. Any help or even just a clue would be appreciated greatly.

I seem to have eliminated the 'connection failed' problem & its accompanying 'file server is running on your machine' message as follows:
My Extreme was set up for its DHCP server to assign local IP addresses in the 192.168.2.100 to 192.168.2.199 range. This matched how my old SMC router had been set up for years. The SMC's DHCP server was set up to always assign 192.168.2.100 to my iMac's Ethernet MAC address. I did this because my iMac was set up as a webDAV server to publish an iCal calendar on my local network, using the address "webcal://192.168.2.100/ical/MyCalendar.ics." This worked fine with both the SMC & the Extreme.
I'm not sure why I decided to try it, but I changed the Extreme's DHCP server to assign local IP addresses in the 10.0.2.100 to 10.0.2.200 range. Obviously, this invalidated the address for the published calendar, but the iMac now connects to the Extreme's drive without any problems. (For those who care, changing the calendar's published address to "webcal://MyMac.local/ical/MyCalendar.ics." fixed that issue -- IOW, substitute the computer name for its local IP address. I probably should have done that to begin with, but hindsight is always 20/20, right?)
So my problem is solved, but I still would like to know why this worked. AFAIK, either IP range is equally valid for private networks. Any comments would be appreciated.

  • Fax and Answer machine issue

Now hat I have my HP6500A Plus connected the fax works great.  However my answer machine will no take messages.

    Hello A082692a,
First important question is, is it a real answering machine or something like a Voicemail service. With a real answering machine click HERE to see how to set up your fax and answering machine. Be awere of the fact that the message you record on your answering machine needs to be recording to several rules. But all this is explained on the page you can reach by clicking on the link above.
Voicemail service will most likely not work with the fax, but there are som e internet sites with thing you can try. A Google search on use a fax with voicemail will help.

  • Answer Machine for BT Freelance XB2500 does not op...

I have just purchased a quad set of BT XB2500 - these were to replace BT Struass 1500 Trio that went 'faulty'.
The fault was that when the answering machine switched in, it cut out and didn't offer the outgoing message and didn't record any messages. I purchased the XB2500 yesterday and upon setting them up and testing the answering machine.... I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!
I have had a look at the incoming line and there are 2 wires and no other connections/extensions on the system.
Can the incoming line affect the answerphone? It does seem a little odd. I have no other features set up on my line to affect it. I am totally lost and another £90 out of pocket.... can any body help?
    Thanks J

did you get the problem sorted as i am having the same problem with my phone

  • Adding tones to signal my home answering machine

I have my home number programmed on my iPhone with a comma (pause) and *1234 (a star and four numbers). This sends a code to my answering machine to retrieve my messages from outside. This has worked for years. This has worked on my previous iPhone flawlessly and automatically.
Last Friday I got a 3G new iPhone and never once have I been able to use that preprogrammed number successfully. I hear the machine answer after it is dialed and I do not hear the extra beeps going in to signal it.
After reading two threads on this board about this issue that people are having I performed my own experiment. I know it worked fine on my 2G phone. I turned off 3G. It worked. First time. I heard the beeps and my machine heard the beeps and I could control the machine remotely.
Perhaps 3G does not recognize the * ? Perhaps the duplexing is such that when the machine is 'talking' it doesn't hear the beeps being sent? Whatever it might be it is important for people to know I had success going back to 2G.
Oh if only att would return us all the extra $10 for this month the way Apple is giving 30 free days for the MobileMe rocky start!

This is a serious issue. I can't get my iPhone 3g to signal my home answering machine either with EDGE. I don't understand this. Please help!

  • Wrong Machine message with genuine Toshiba recovery disk

I have a Sat  Pro L300 EZ1004X and ordered a recovery disk from Toshiba after giving them the model number and serial number. When I boot from the disk I get a "Wrong Machine" message with an exit button that just powers off the machine, there is no exit to DOS. Booting from recovery partition by holding down 0 does not work either, just some colors at the top of the screen. The laptop was refurbished at a genuine Toshiba service center. The recovery disks are labelled L300 series. The machine was running fine until attacked by the Alureon virus and now hangs at the Microsoft screen on boot. I want to wipe the disk and start again. Net research indicated I may need a DMI reset utility, but the one I found at the Toshiba site does not list the L300 models. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You're right, Chris. If the recovery disc is the correct one, the DMI string in the machine needs fixing. Since the utility for that computer is not posted, you need to contact Toshiba. It's 800-457-7777 or..
