  • How to change an "answered question" icon to and "open" one

An hour ago this morning, I re-opened a thread of mine that had already been answered. Unfortunately, I could not easily locate the instruction or button that allows me to convert the "answered question" icon to an "open question" icon. I want to change it so those people who filter their screens to view only "open question" posts will find mine.
Please advise if this can be done. If so, how can it be done?
    Thanks, in advance.

Unless the question is the identical question, please open a new discussion topic. Otherwise, you will present us with a long chain of discussion to wade through to find your new question, and I know I for one...if I think I've already worked through a questions...don't want to wade through it again.
If it is indeed the same question, it is not as clear. It must be the IDENTICAL problem or situation you are facing to "reuse" a thread.
I recommend...especially if you are at all on a different tangent...referring to your earlier thread with a link. State your new question clearly in the title, and present your case succinctly, with links.
What sort of efficiency are you trying to achieve by reopening a question that has been "answered?" If you have already marked responses as helpful or as answers, there's very little pay for considering your reopened question. (joke) Help the Forum economy by opening a new thread!

Why is Apple such a freaking control freak?
    Hey Apple—quit fixing s**t that isn't broken!

You could use google.  If you want to only search these discussions forums use the following syntax in a google search:

  • My iphone 4s is disabled and I never synced it to anything (Reposting because I accidentally click answered question.)

(Sorry to repost thing I accidentally click answered question )
I just added a password to my iPhone 4s yesterday and guess what? I forgot it. I kept guessing and guessing until it was (and is now) disabled. I tried the restoration method but it says I need to enter my password. But for some reason it still says on my laptop that I am installing a software update (I am on iOS 8.1 and was going to update until this happened.). My iPhone does not say sync in progress or anything like that, it just says 'iPhone is Disabled Connect to iTunes' Will it work after software update? What do I do?

    Hi briana171,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you have forgotten the passcode to your iPhone 4s and it has been Disabled. The following resource will make you through the steps to resolve this issue, specifically erasing your device by one of a few methods:

  • Did anyone notice a lot of "Un-Answered" questions/problems in this forum?

I am new to this forum, but there seems to be a lot of un-answered questions.
Am I wasting my time looking for answers from Apple here because I am stuck with a Windows machine at my work place? I feel like the last option button at the bottom of this "New Topic" which says, "Discard & Cancel."

Welcome to the discussion list, Tom.
First, Apple doesn't answer her, fellow users do. So, yes you are wasting your time looking for answer from Apple here.
Second, I think if you consider how many Mac users there are in the world and on the discussion groups compared to how many iPod touch users there are in the world, you begin to understand.

Working on a MAC with a Kobo.  ADE won't let me read DRM books - 4.0 crashes when opening library books (EVERY. SINGLE. I have wasted hours on this and I'm getting really annoyed.

Thank you! This worked. But now I copied my files back, which was successful. But the last file did´t work. I even loaded this file from the bookstore. When I try to load this file, ADE crashes and gives me the following report:

  • Is there any way to delete my answered question?

i posted a question a while back... and just to let everybody knows im just new on the forum line... is it posible to delete my answered post? thanks

    Hi, adiv -
    No.
    As Niel stated -
"...the information in the thread may help people who have the same question or problem in future."
These forums work as well as they do because information is posted publicly and remains available to others who may have a similar question. Deleting an answered question would defeat that purpose, and would also change the basic nature of Discussions from a sharing community to a very self-centered mode.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go tomanage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)

  • Forget security answer question

im forget the security answer question

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

How to reset your Apple ID security questions.
Go to appleid.apple.com, click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email)
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'.
This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or  there is no rescue email link available, then click on 'Temporary Support PIN' that is in the bottom left side, and generate a 4-digit PIN for the Apple Account Security Advisor you will be contacting later.
    Next, go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
    A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.
