An ant just crawled into my macbook air, will it damage the hardware? It went inside my computer, and I don't know what to do!

As long as it doesn't step onto the circtury, you should be fine. Hopefully it dies and doesn't reproduce as above.

Graphics driver bug on MacBook Air late 2010

I saw a graphics driver bug on MacBook Air late 2010.
The problem is that some programs that uses graphics card will not display some drop down menu correctly.
For example this will happen on Windows Live messenger and Firefox 4 beta.

It does not happen when I ran it in VMWare fusion or other machines. So I am sure this is a graphics driver problem.
Does anyone know how often Apple push driver updates?
Or does anyone know anyway to solve this problem?
BTW, I tried to force-install a later nvidia driver from the official website. The drop down problem goes away but I lose the ability to change screen brightness.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am not convinced it is a hardware problem. For if I hold the key that is faulty pressed for a few seconds it works, and the also works for a while before it stops working again. This to me seems like it is software based. Is there a secure way to test software vs. hardware e.g. by booting from an external image into a shell only? I do not think I have an image on a usb, is there any online server that I can connect to to try it?

Photoshop CS5 Bugs on MacBook Air Fixed in Mountain Lion

Hey all,
I was pretty frustrated last November when I bought a new Macbook Air and experienced weird behavior in Photoshop CS5. Brushes would stop working. Tool icons would freak out. This was discussed at length on the boards, and Chris from Adobe said everyone at Adobe and Apple were aware of the issue due to video card incompatibilities (?) and Lion.
Happy to report that all that behavior has dissapeared with Photoshop CS5 running on Mountain Lion (beta v1). It works as it was meant to. Yeah!
Thought I would report back as all those threads have been locked for awhile.

Thanks to the USB hub, Now Huawei E303C Datacard is working all fine in my new MacBook Pro 13" i7 Mid 2012 model.
For experiment purpose, I purchased one USB 2.0 hub (Unknown Chinese model).
I connected Datacard to USB hub and USB hub to MacBook Pro USB port.
Hurray!! Datacard is detected by MacBook Pro.
So, the problem is with MacBook Pro's new USB ports (USB 2.0 and 3.0 integrated in a single port) and Huawei E303C Datacard.
It is a hardware support issue with Huawei E303C Datacard.
I hope this will solve your problem too.

Export bug with Macbook Air

I have a export problem that I cant find a fix for.
Everytime i export a video in FCPX, doesnt matter what I pick, the exported video glitches between two frames, going back and forth. I have tried all the export options. I also have tried to re-install FCPX with no luck. Please help.
I have latest MBA 13" with OS X 10.7.2 and latest FCP X

It´s .mov files and it was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II. It has not been converted - straigth into FCPX.
The thing is though, it worked perfectly fine before Apple lanunched an update (not the latest one, but the one before that). So after I updated it, everything went balistic.

MacBook Air 2013 Monitor slow response bug

Given that you purchased it only recently, if you believe this is a hardware fault contact AppleCare and have them fix it. What you describe is not a commonly known problem.
It's your Mac; if you want to modify it with third party junk like TotalFinder the consequences are also yours.

2012-model Macbook Air got Mavericks installed but boot up with 1-second brighter screen before logging into my account, is this a bug?

as above, never got this issue when i was using 10.8.
now every time when i boot my macbook air, just before logging into my user account, the screen blinks once(screen gets brighter a lot in a very short time about 1 second).
i've googled around, found there are some fellows who also have the same issue as mine.
Is this a bug with 10.9 mac os? will Apple fix it???

Mine is doing the same thing but it has happened to me before on other versions too.
I tried resetting PRAM and it didn't help.
Also running real laggy on bootup even thou I repaired permissions.
I think a patch from Apple fixed my screen before or it was just plain luck because it was working right before this UPGRADE.
I will be trying a clean install tonight or this weekened for sure to try and fix my issues.

ALSA microphone (bug?) on Intel C210 chipset (MacBook Air)

Hi,
I'm running Arch on Linux 3.10.6 on a MacBook Air 5,1 (late 2012).
Everything works mostly fine except for the microphone. The sound is provided by an Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset.
I'm experiencing the following, very annoying issues:
1. After resuming from suspend, the microphone no longer works
2. If I enable sound chipset power saving, the microphone never works---not even straight after booting.
Two important facts:
* The speakers always work
* The microphone seems to be wrongly mapped. Mic doesn't show up under alsamixer, only mic boost. Furthermore, arecord only captures the microphone sound if I record in stereo mode---despite the fact that the mic is mono. The mic mono channel is mapped to the right stereo channel.
Any ideas? People with similar chipsets should be able to help me too.

I had the same issued and for me, the patch worked perfectly.
Upgrade
sudo pacman -Syu
Then restart if linux kernel was upgraded.
Install linux headers
sudo pacman -S linux-headers
Install the mba6x_bl-dkms patch from AUR
wget https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mb/mba6x_bl-dkms/mba6x_bl-dkms.tar.gz
tar -xvf mba6x_bl-dkms.tar.gz
cd mba6x_bl-dkms
makepkg -i

Hello, when saving a document (specially via preview) or sometimes when I want to print - the screen doesn't show the entire window (so you can't see the 'save' or 'cancel' or 'print' button. Scrolling doesn't work either - so you have to guesstimate and use the tab button and just click and hope it works.
Does anyone recognize this, and is there a solution?

Zoom is also controlled by  (Apple menu) System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom.
If you cannot control your screen well enough to access System Preferences, press the key chord command option 8. That will toggle zoom on / off.

Macbook air bug

When i connect it to my thunderbolt display, it comes laggy. When i disconnect it it return more fast.

How can I tell my MacBook Air to automatically detect my Thunderbolt Display?

I have a brand new MacBook Air (13", mid-2011) running 10.7.2 (and all updates) and Thunderbolt Display (with firmware 22.2, the latest)
When I plug the thunderbolt plug into the port, I expect the MBA to recognize the display and automatically start using the display based on the last settings (arrangement, etc.) This is how every other display (Apple or not) has worked with a MacBook I've owned. This is one of the nice little touches that I really appreciate about Apple products.
What actually happens when I plug in the thunderbolt display is.... nothing. The MBA will work happily as if there is no external display plugged in until I bring up the Displays control panel and "Detect Displays". This is contrary to how it worked in the past and based on that experience, I consider the current behavior to be a bug.
Is there some setting I'm missing to make this work properly? It is pretting annoying to have to many times a day (in the morning and every time I take my MBA away from my desk). Is this a known issue that Apple will be fixing soon?

It's definitely not supposed to work like that...when you plug the display in, it should just turn on and adjust your displays. It works like that on my MBP. Kind of a silly question, but do you have the MagSafe from the display plugged in your MBAir too? Thats a requirement. Beyond that, it should "just work."
Not sure if there is some setting to enable...i haven't seen it. Call to support?

My Macbook Air with Lion does not show up on my network to any of my other computers (PC's) , even though it is connected to my wifi and does access the Internet. In addition, my other computers sometimes show up in Finder and sometimes they're not there. Sometimes they do show in Finder and when I click on them, I get "Connection Failed", other times, they connect. Also some shared folders on those other computers, which are PC's are not accessible, even though fully shared. My network is Apple Airport Extreme and works perfectly otherwise, including all PC's being able to see each other. Help would be much appreciated

I got the same problem. I want to access my shared folder on my home windows7 from my MBA. Tried many suggestions on the web but all to no avail. I thought that should be very trivial. Maybe a Lion bug?

Macbook air with 10.10.1 keyboard and touchpad stop responding after login screen

Keyboard and touchpad works only at login screen.
I have tried all the PRAM and SMC. reset stuff.
Safe mode, repair etc. Creating another account is not helped either.
I am also using 10.10.1 with macbook air.
I have also called the apple tech support and no results!
And this is obviously a software bug from so called robust yosemite!

2013 Macbook Air Sound Issues

Alright so I've had my 2013, 13" i7 8GB/512GB Macbook Air for around 2 months. A while back I began encountering issues where the system's sound would just stop working. This issue applies to outputting through headphones and the built in speaker. I pinpointed the problem to occuring only when I closed the laptop while a program was outputting audio through headphones. Examples of programs this has happened with include Spotify, iTunes, and anything that uses audion in Safari (including Netflix and Youtube). After ths occurs, the only way I have found to fix the problem is a complete restart. I am interested to find other people who have, or who have fixed this problem.
On an unrelated note, I have also found a bug where sometimes when I accidently press the power button once and put it to sleep, the computer will sleep but the backlight on the keyboard will stay on. When I press the spacebar to turn it back on, the backlight on the screen will turn on, but the screen will remain black and unchanging. Again, the only thing that will fix this is a forced restart.
Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Do not sleep your Air (close the monitor with headphones attached) with headphones attached, this is known to affect some Air under Mavericks.
* this occurrence is being looked into.
Much testing on my own and others as well show that in some instances this occurs in Mavericks.
If you choose you may contact Apple for an appt and diagnostics.
However as said, refrain from having phones attached when you close the monitor to prevent this until it is resolved
Also if you have the APP "BOOM" installed, uninstall it, this can cause same as Ive confirmed.
