Antenna Ipad 3 vs Ipad 2 vs Ipad 1

Hi
I recently bought my iPad 3. But I have noticed that the cellular signal is weaker than at the IPAD 2 and IPAD 1 (My dad and my sister have other Ipads). I put together in the same place and it showed clearly that the cellular signal on the iPad 3 is weaker than at the IPAD IPAD 1 and 2.
The Mobile antenna of the Ipad 3 is weaker than in the other Ipads?
Thnks
JuanJo

I just purchased the new ipad ( 16Gb) for my wife (she used iPad I) . I was thinking about iPad 2 but when I compared the new iPad side-by-side with ipad 2 in my local Bestbuy store, I never looked back ipad 2.
I also compared iPad 2  with my original ipad and they look the same in display performance. However, the difference between ipad 2012 and ipad 2 is huge, I would say you will immediately notice the difference like day and night! What's a huge improvement. Apple does the great job.
I read a lot on tablet, ( we buy tablet to read, don't we?), so retina display is so important to me. Everything appears on the screen is much better, including sharpness/colors of pictures and letters.
The retina display alone is worth $100 difference between the two generations, IMO.
I sold my Android tablet and thinking ablout selling or giving my original ipad ( 3G) as well to buy another ipad 2012. I made a right decision to buy the new ipad for her. After looking on the retina display, I don't  look elsewhere.
BTW, I don't have any issue with heating as some people complain. I watch Netflix movies and I think heating is in normal level even the ipad is enclosed by a leather case.
Better graphic display, warmer the unit is and longer to charger the battery.
If you can't spend much, then get 16G but I think ipad 3 is the way to go.

The new phone was restored from backup. It works fine but iMessage no longer syncs with my ipad. I've looked into the settings and can't see anything wrong? I can iMessage from my phone and iMessage from my ipad but they don't synch. Very frustrating. Would appreciate some help. My nearest spple store is 30 miles away. Thank you so much.

  • IPad Personal Hotspot antenna shuts off after a few minutes of non-use. This happens in both Verizon 3G and LTE areas. Turning off LTE does not help. Turning Personal Hotspot off and then on works. Does this happen on Mini and Retina?

iPad--third generation shuts off antenna/hotspot after a few minutes of non-use.
Happens in 3G and LTE VZ environment.
Turning hotspot off and on getsw things working again.
Does Apple have antenna on a timer so it shuts off after a few minutes?
Does this happen on Mini and Retina as well?

    Fixed!
Two things together have restored connectivity.
    1.  I changed the name under Settings > General > About > Name from My Name's iPad to iPad of My Name.  I read somewhere that iOS 7.0.1 or 7.0.2 (I forget which) sometimes had issues with apostrophes here.  Easy enough to test.
    2.  I then reset (again) the APN settings under Settings > Cellular Data > APN Settings > Personal Hotspot and reentered our provider's info (APN, Username, Password) there.
I don't know WHY it worked, but the personal hotspot is now happily sharing (again) internet connectivity with my MacBook Pro.

  • Ipad 2 antenna problem.

My  ipad 2 is experiencing an antenna problem.  Can this be fixed and is it financially reasonable to fix it?

    SummerGirl02-
Were these pictures placed in the DCIM folder by the camera, or did you copy them there from your computer?  I read somewhere that the pictures have to have names like the ones the camera makes.  Names like IMG_0521.JPG (Canon), DSC01760.JPG (Sony), or IMGP0021.JPG (Pentax).  You will notice they all have eight character names.
If that is not your problem, it could be that the Camera Connection Kit draws more current from the iPad than is allowed.  A previous update to the iOS lowered the allowed current, causing some problems.  Try updating to the latest iOS 4.3.3, and see if that makes a difference.

  • So I am trying to hook up a wifi antenna and router to pull a signal in for better hookup and when I turned on asus I must have answered a question wrong on setup so how can I change stuff so I can get iPad and router to work.

So I am trying to hook up a tired net antenna to an asus wifi router so my iPad can have a stronger signal, but when I turned on asus it went to auto window on iPad and I think I must have answered a question wrong. I can not hook up to Internet, can anyone tell me how to configure, or delete asus and start all over.

Have you tried erasing your network settings under settings/general/reset?

  • Ipad 2 replacement antenna

Need to replace the wifi antenna in my iPad2. The replacements I have tried so far don't pick up a signal beyond 15 feet of the wifi base.  Can someone recommend a good antenna and where I can get it?  I have no need to send the iPad in to the Apple store since I know how to replace the antenna.  I just need a reliable part.  Thanks in advance.

ifixit.com would be the place I would trust (beside Apple themselves) to get replacement parts. Here's the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi antenna for the iPad 2:

  • IPAD 3 Antenna Sensitivity for Cellular Signals.

My IPAD is deaf to celluar signals.
I know IPHONES are bad for cellular antenna sensitivity, but the IPAD 3 I have make them look like superstars.
With the IPHONE I get three bars on the signal and a marginal 4g or 3g connection.  The IPAD never connects.  Same spot, same option of 4g or 3g connection.
    The Wi-Fi connection is fine.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem??  Is my IPAD unique or is this typical for the species?

I don't know whether it should matter technically, but there are separate plans for LTE data, even on "domestic iPad" plans. When I switched from an iPad 1 to an iPad 3 (also in March 2012) and wanted to get LTE, I had to switch to a plan called "250 MB of data for 30 days - LTE" (where previously it had been called "DOM 250 MB for 30 days"). Same price, same separate account, both plans prepaid, different plan name, different signal access. I'm still on the second plan.
AT&T changes rate plans from time to time. They may not be offering the "250 MB of data for 30 days - LTE" plan to new customers these days. If so, I must be grandfathered into the old plan. They do still offer a 3G session-based plan according to their website.
Disclaimer: I'm in a different AT&T area (former Southwestern Bell territory), so plans might differ in your area.

My new IPad mini has poor wifi reception. It goes in and out.  My IPod, Iphone4, Ipad1 and Ipad2 work fine. What can I do?  Does anyone else have this problem?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • TS1398 Very weak WIFI on my new iPad MD511LL. Tried Apple suggestion, but they didn't work. Signal is variable from zero to two - never shows three 'bars' even on stronger wifi system. Could this unit be defective?

Just bought it last week. Have synced it with my main computer. It gets WIFI most of the time, but the signal never goes above two bars (curves) even when I'm in a strong WIFI area. Rest of the time it varies between zero bars (no service) to two bars - slow, slow, slow.
Already did the recommended shutdown and the WIFI on and off suggestions made by Apple. Already compared to other equipment, which receive a solid, strong three bars at all the same locations. Since this is the WIFI only model, quite alarmed at the problem. I need the WIFI to be able to pick up the signals better.
Could this be an antenna problem?? Behaves this way even when not in any case.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
