Anti glare screen - put glossy glass over it?

Hi all
I recently bought a 15" MBP with a high res anti glare screen - I noticed that the screen dosent have the glas front "cover" like my 13" MBP glossy has.
Is it possible to put this glass on the anti glare screen? I know that the silver alu frame has to be removed from the antiglare screen. But the question is - is it possible and has anyone done it?
Thanks Christian

Wow, I've never seen glitches like those before.
When I first got my late 2008 MacBook Pro, I had some "hiccups" with the video card which made it freeze when I used my iTunes visualizer and etc.
Apple replaced the internal components, and so far I haven't had any graphic related problems.
I'd say, Take it back to Apple if you have time to leave it for further testing.
From the looks of it, I believe they should replace the mother board (at least that's what they did for me when I had graphics glitches)
Hope everything works out for you!

  • Anti-Glare Screen

Is is worth the extra cost? Isn't the anit-glare screen just the glass removed? I'm thinking of buying a MBP 15 and trying to weigh both options.
    Thanks

It's all about preference...but after spending well over $2k on the laptop, an extra $50 is pretty nominal.
For me i went with the AG since i had a previous gen 13" with glossy screen and i got annoyed by reflections on the screen when using it in places with alot of lighting.
I do admit that the glossy screen had more of a "bling" factor cuz its all shiny but after a few weeks i just got annoyed.
IMO, glossy for bling and AG for function.
AG really should have been a no additional cost option but thats apple for ya...

  • U400 Anti-glare screen addon

Wondering if anyone with a u400 bought an anti-glare screen "protector" for their laptop. Did it work well, fade out colors too much, etc? Also, if anyone else with a glossy 14" 1366x768 screen has any input, it's welcome!
    Thanks

  • New Retina Screen VS. Prior Anti-Glare Screen

Just came from the Apple Store in beautiful West Des Moines, Iowa. Wanted to check this new Retina box out for myself.
Very nice image, for sure. I was expecting, though, less glare. It seems not to have as much glare as the prior incarnation's glossy screen, but more glare than the prior incarnations anti-glare screen.
Also, I ran the trailer for The Avengers on each machine side-by-side. I must say, the prior version's anti-glare screen seemed better. Not just in the anti-glare department, but overall image. And when I froze the same frame, it wasn't even close; the Retina screen was blurry and the anti-glare image (of Hulk) was smooth.
Now, I am curious if anyone else tries this out if they will have the same outcome. Could there be a legit reason why the obviously better image quaity of the Retina screen (look at the desktop) actually looks worse running this trailer?

None of the ThB drives on the market (few as they are after a whole 18 months in Macs) offer multi ports; in other words, they don't also have FW800 or USB or even eSATA - just ThB. That sounds like a requirement vs. what the manfacturers probably would like to do. Their forcing ThB down our throats - sure, you can buy 'old legacy tech' as they put it, but all ths means is the next versions will be ThB only as well. This, despite few drive options.
By default, you seem to be defending Apple putting out tech a month ahead of an adapter, which makes no sense. All they had to do was change a timeline for release on one or the other. Instead, they push out the 1.0 Retina MBP with no way to connect to the 'legacy' tech they pushed on us for a decade. So - yes - I will wait to buy if I buy at all, no, I won't buy a $2,300 box that cannot read any of my other four drives. Duh.

    Hi everyone,

    Hi cy3,
It is expensive ($40) but if it is eliminate the problem, then it is more cheaper than the medicine or eye exam you have to go thru by "forcing" yourself using your macbook.
If the light reflection that couse you dizzyness, try to work on environment that the light is behind your macbook instead of behind you that will reflect the light source to your eyes.
Maybe a special eyeglasses can accomodate that, but I bet it will be more expensive than the anti glare you just show.
    Good Luck.

  • Is there a genuine IPad anti glare screen to reduce the reflection/mirror effect when using outdoors?

The reflection in the IPad 4th generation retina screen when using outdoors or in bright light is very distracting. You look at yourself! Especially if using the pad on your knees.
I have fitted the excellent Moshi clear protection screen, but this does not reduce the reflection. Amazon sell an anti glare screen for the IPad 2. Anyone found one that really works, or is this something we must put up with.

Linehill again.  It seems that many users find the same problem, but no one has the answer! I have been experimenting with some ideas and have found wearing a black or very dark shirt makes a huge improvement if you are sitting down and hold the IPad on your thighs. Try it!

  • What is the best way to clean a Macbook anti glare screen

What is the best way to clean my Macbook Pro anti glare screen

I have used WINDEX ELECTRONICS for about the past 6+ months:
    http://www.windex.com/en-US/Products/Pages/electronic-cleaner-and-wipes.aspx
I apply it with a small damp microfiber cloth and wipe the excess off with a large microfiber cloth.  The display looks the same when it came out of the box.
THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH ORDINARY WINDEX GLASS CLEANER.
    Ciao.

  • Anti-glare screen protector on 5?

Should I put an anti-glare screen protector on my iPhone 5? Or does that diminish the retina display?

This really comes down to personal preference - screen protectors are designed for maximum visibility and there shouldn't be any perceptible difference in the output of the display - I have used my iPhone 5 in all types of light with and without a protector and I do see an improvement with the glare and I can't see a difference in the quality of the display but I can't predict how it will work for you.

  • Is backlight bleeding normal on anti glare screens?

I just purchased a 2012 15' macbook po and noticed baclking bleeding on the bottow right to center of the screen. being new to the anti glare screen, I just want to know if this is normal of should i get a replaceent? and/or what are the chances of getting a better one? i know the question is kind of vague. I would just like a second opinion here is a picture. and Thank you for any replys i may get

Apple has to the best of my knowledge not made any announcement on the Cinema Display being updated or replaced.
As a photographer, a matte screen is a must. I went for the Eizo CG220 since it offered full Adobe colour gamut. My photographs look stunning.
In light of your needs, I would suggest going for the matte screen. Glossy screens do offer sharper contrast, but colour correction can be a nightmare on a glossy screen.

  • Anti Glare Film VS Anti Glare Screen

I really hate the silver bezel around the anti glare screen that comes with the MacBook Pro, but I do NOT like the reflectivity of the glossy screen. I'm wondering, would there be any significant drawback to buying a glossy model and then applying an anti-glare film, as opposed to ordering the anti glare screen itself?

Hey Mmartino88, your best bet is to get one of these frame skins. I got one for my MacBook Air and looks really cool. They sell them for Pros as well. Here's where I got mine from www.precioustore.com

  • NEW Macbook Pro anti-glare screen choice

    Hi,
I did not see the NEW Macbook Pro anti-glare screen choice.
Did Apple Stop offering the anti-glare screen option on the NEW 2013 Laptops?
                      THANKS!!  - Randy

If you look at the specifications for the 15" non-retina MBPs, you will note that anti-glare option is available.
    Ciao.

  • Will there be an anti-glare screen for the new MacBook Pro?

will there be an anti-glare screen for the new MacBook Pro?

    Hi j,
Apple rarely announces upcoming hardware upgrades, so we'll probably just have to wait and see if that's something that happens in the future with the retina line. In the meantime, you can express your desire for one here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
