Antivirus scan and mobile applications files

Hi, Folks.
My nightly full systems disk antivirus scan takes a bit of time when handling <my account>/music/itunes/mobile applications (folder). Is it strictly necessary to scan this folder given that, in theory, it's contents come from Apple and and are aimed at iOS devices? Another way to word the question, I suppose, is: is it a low risk to have my antivirus scanner skip the Mobile Applications folder?
I assume, however, that skipping my iTunes media folders would present a considerably greater risk.

Your response is useless and tedious. All you had to do to make it of great interest is explain, in a semi-technical manner, *why* antivirus software is useless on Mac's. You see, if you had, then I would have been able to judge for myself and might even have joined you in your enthusiasm.
BTW, the other day, my antivirus software did point out that MACDefender.zip was, shall we say, suspicious. Of course, by then, we all knew that, right?
How about trying again with a more informative response. Even a url or two would be better, yes?

After the new 10.9.2 Maverick upgrade, my Photosmart C4480 3 in 1 printer can not scan and save the file to desktop or documents. You can only see the image in the print preview area. Does anyone know how to fix this or when a fix will be out?

After Aple support downloaded the new 10.9.2 Maverick upgrade on my MacBook Air, my Photosmart C4480 3 in 1 printer can not scan a document and load the file on to my desktop or document file. (You can see the doc image in the preview but it doesn't save it.) Does anyone know an Apple fix for this or when the fix will be out? After hours of trying reloading, and the usual fixes, etc. Apple told me to call HP, and HP told me they don't support Mac. It does not seem honorable of Apple to put out an upgrade and not tell people it will destroy their scanning ability, and that the only thing to do is to buy another printer/scanner.

Have you tried using Applications/Image Capture to scan.

Scanning and saving a file as pdf - 0kb Error

After a particular document is scanned and saved as .pdf file, the saved file does appear in its respective folder (Sharepoint 2013) but the size still appears as 0 KB (wherein the contents of the document are not saved).

Thanks for your response but I don't really understand your answer. So you're saying that a PDF can't be saved to a server?? Regardless, I've narrowed down our problem to one particular source where we are getting PDF's from. We've found an alternative method.

Why are there iOS Applications AND mobile Applications folders?

I am cleaning up my hard drive for 2013 and have disovered that my iTunes folder is the largest folder. Good for me.
Within my itunes folder are both an iOS Applications folder and a Mobile Applications folder They both have recent Modifed Dates and there is some .ipa overlap in terms of applications and serial numbers, it seems like the older stuff is in the iOS Applications folder. I own both an iPad and iPhone but cannot seem to fathom any consistency as to which apps go where.
Do I need both of these and if not is there an easy way to resolve the "problem"? (Assuming it really is a problem.)

Interesting, I only have the Mobile Applications folder. If there are any applications that appear in the iOS folder but not in the mobile folder, you can move them over to the mobile folder, and then delete the other one.

J2Me and mobile application interact with PHP

Our company intend to develop a mobile application to enable customer to login to our url by using mobile phone which enable to update their contact details and check their accounts status. As our Web-server does not equipped with any Java Server, we will use a php program/script to listen to any incoming string from the client's connection.
As we are new to java /J2ME programming; Is there any sample code that we can refer for this project.

I don't know what you mean by "page content like true or false". To capture the content you use HttpURLConnection and read the content of the returned InputStream. As far as what you do with this content from there I can't say. I don't know if the server is sending you some HTML which has the words true or false somewhere in it, or XML with some sort of response code, or just plain text with true or false, or something else entirely.

Tip : AS3 Libraries and mobiles applications

This is a quick tip.
If you need to serialize AS objects to XML (and deserialize), you will probably look for an existing library for ActionScript. You must know that the major part of those libraries aren't made for mobiles applications.
Those libraries will usualy work on Android but might crash your application if you deploy for iOS. This is usualy because the library try to use IO methods.
I tried asx3m and it crashes on iOS.
I suggest you to use FlexXB. This one worked for my project. Unfortunately, you will have to add anotations in your classes or create custom marshallers.
I also tried to use Blooddy crypto library to encode JPEG (this library is way faster than Adobe one). It works well on Android, but it crashes on iOS. The md5 hasher of this library is also unstable on mobiles devices (but work well in the Flex Emulator). On Android, the first hash is not accurate. You must hash 1 time to "initialise" the hash. On iOS, the hash is never accurate.
Libraries that are not made for mobiles should be avoid when possible, even if they offer nice features. If you are forced to use one, I suggest you to check the sources to see if they try to call IO methods.

Replacing certificates and mobile provisioning files

Im currently replacing certificates in an attempt to resubmit an app. (It wouldnt let me sign in and download using existing ones)
1 When I went into Keychain Access initially it confirmed by developer certificate was corrupted, so I presume this is cause of frustration.
2: I replaced both Dev and Dist Certificates
3: The keychain check said all was good on both, although these were renamed as I made them to make it clear I was viewing/working with correct files.
Now - When I go to replace existing certificates in app builder I get this message.
To be honest I have created so many certificates with all its processes in an attempt to get this to work I now have no Idea where this should go.
I do remember reading a tip somewhere about using web url in reverse as an identifyer but that was before xmas.
So - Where do I find the Bundle ID they refer too?
Long term there has to be an easier way to do this surely...

Bundle id is part of App id which you create in Apple iOS provisioning portal. make sure you have created your Mobile Provisiing files using the same app id/bundle id.

How can I search for document content, specific words, in my scanned (and searchable) pdf files?

When using spotloght to search my files for text within a scanned document, I may or may not find documents that were scanned by a scan program (ScanSnap) to a searchable PDF file on a firewire attached drive.
Is there a specific manner that yeilds useable results 100% of the time?

Spotlight should index PDF files (as well as Word and some other kinds of files) but it seems that PDFs are not created equal. I've seen and heard complaints that some scanner/OCR programs are saving files that aren't searchable and yours is one of them. Try opening one of the files in Preview and resaving it.

Scan and resave text file

Hello everyone..
Can anyone tell me if there is any way I can import a .txt file into flash, check for EXACT duplicate words and then resave it out as a .txt file with the duplicates removed ??
When I say exact duplicates I mean, for example, if the words success and successfull are in there it won't delete the word 'success' from successfull..

Here is an exmple of the kind of file I'm trying to edit (after modification taking around an hour) I would like to have each word on a line of it own but without duplicates..; if I can at least remove the duplicates I can go in and manually do the returns, that doesn't bother me too much just the duplicate removal..

I'm trying to log intoi Facebook after I've been hacked, changed password did antivirus scan and I'm locked out

I was on facebook and it was hacked. I notified facebook and deleted all remembered passwords in the system and ran anti-virus. Ever since then I've been unable to log onto facebook. Is this a problem with firefox or with face book itself? When I try to login using firefox I get www.facebook..com/checkpoint and doesn't go any further. I've changed my password and still cannot get into fb.

Flex 4.5 problem using image in Mobile Application (Android)

I have a problem using flex and mobile application...
I have an image with path = "/mnt/sdcard/images/20120202172020990.jpg"
Simply using
<s:Image id="image" source="/mnt/sdcard/images/20120202172020990.jpg" />
Get me an empty image on device, still using it on computer (desktop build / debug) it works fine...
I have enabled every kind of permission in the app.xml
Why I got this error?

I actually solved the problem using:
image.source = File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath(file_name).url;
using instead this one it will work only under windows...
image.source = File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath(file_name).nativePath;
I don't know if it's a bug or whatelse, but I think that the source property of Image passing a filename that start with / (/ is root for unix based OS, android, linux, ios, etc), will take is as a relative path instead of complete path...

Scan and Capture minimizes to taskbar immediately and does not allow scan selection

Scan and Capture was working great prior to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and (I think) and upgrade to V1.4. I vaguely recall using some app from HP to uninstall the previous version...
Current symptoms are that the app will fire up, briefly show the splash screen, and then immediately minimize to the task bar. Clicking on the app in the task bar will bring the splash screen back up briefly, followed by minimization again to the task bar. The app can be closed by right clicking the app on the task bar.
I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled to no avail. My guess is that there is some registry junk left behind during the uninstall that needs to be scrubbed. Probably a function of the uninstall of the previous version?
App works just fine on another Win8.1 PC with the same printer, so I doubt it is a hardware or network issue, however, for completeness, the scanner is an HP CM1312nfi MFP and the PC is an HP Pavillion, [email protected], 8GB RAM, running 64 bit Win8.1 Pro with Media Center.

To follow on...
I reinstalled the Complete Package. Subsequent to this install, the legacy HP Laserjet Scan (with UI from 2009) and the legacy Windows Scan and Fax applications connect and scan from this MFP just fine.
The Metro apps (Windows Scan and HP Scan and Capture) do not. The Window Scan (Metro) gives a "Problem Connecting to Scanner" error.
The HP Scan and Capture has the same behavior as before -- splash screen for a second and then minimized to the task bar. I have also tried to launch HP Scan and Capture from the HP AiO Metro app with the same results.
To sum up, the WinXP applications work. The Win8 applications do not.
Junk in registry? Or driver issue?

Scan.api error after scanning and then clicking no for no more pages. Acrobat x pro then closes.

I never had a problem scanning and saving the file before. But now I receive an error after I finish scanning, then hit "no" for no more pages to be scanned. Error message is as follows: Adobe acrobat error signature: AppName: acrobat.exe AppVer: 10.1.10.18 ModName: scan.api ModVer: 10.1.10.18 Offset: 00033117.
Then the program closes.
This is really driving me crazy because I haven't done anything different to my computer or the scanning process. Please help.

Application file system deleted R12.1.3

Hi,
In one of our development R12.1.3 instance(db 11.2.0.3) application file system got deleted accidentally. Please help us in getting the EBS instance up.
1. We have a backup taken on 27th Oct.(Both database and application )
2. We applied 8/10 patches during this period and couple of rounds of testing.
3. Application file system got deleted accidentally on 4th Nov. No issues on Database node .
I want to continue using the same database and old application file system.
Is it possible !!!!! (as we have applied patches within this period)
Please share your thoughts if it can be done ! ! !

Hi Djay,
You may restore the application binary files from your backup, and re-apply the patch. So the necessary application level binaries will be re-generated while the necessary coding at the DB level will also be re-applied.
Note: When re-applying an already existing patch it prompts you that the patch has been already applied and do you wish to re-apply. Just say yes and proceed
Also let us know, what file did you really delete so that we may better assist you.

Deploying the Application files (fmx, rep) in the network

Our application developed in Oracle Developer tools (version 6.0.5) is currently installed on individual local machines. Each user's PC have Oracle runtime and all applications files (fmx, rep, icons, bmps and dlls). This makes it inconvinient for us release the upgrade/patch files for the application. I would like to know if there any ramifications or impact on keeping all the application files on the network and have the users start and run the FMX from the network. The runtimes would still be on local PC but the application would be accessed from via the network.
What is impact of moving the application to the network?
Would we see any locking issues based on the call mode of the forms?
Would there be any performance issues?
Has anyone done this with no problems?
I appreciate your help on this.

You can deploy all the runtime and reports in one single PC and access the same through the network...so it becomes easy for maintainence and also any changes done need not be changed in the the users PC.
U need to do the following to access the form runtime and reports
through network
1.Keep all the runtime and reports in a pc(say PC1) and share the folder.
2. from the user PC access PC1 and map the shared folder to say Y DRIVE....
3.in the registry of the user pc....
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
EDIT THE FORMS50_path or FORMS60_PATH (depending on which form version u r using) and add Y:\;
do the same to REPORTs60_path...
4. create a LOGIN SCREEN's shortcut(which will access "PC1" for login screen FMX) on the users PC
NOw u can the access the all applications which are in "PC1" through network...
