Any 10.4.11/Apogee Symphony users?

Think it's ok to update a MP/Symphony/Rosetta rig?

I'm using an Apogee Symphone with Rosetta 800 and Big Ben. It all works great. I beleive that I'm now at OSX 10.4.11. I will confirm as soon as I get home today and let you know for sure

  • Apogee Symphony Users... 1.6 ms of latency? Hype, or the real deal?

Was wondering if any Apogee Symphony users could give me their impressions on using it, and Apogee converters with Logic.
The claim is there is 1.6 milliseconds of latency monitoring through Logic.
I'm about to pick up an Intel Mac (finally), and am seriously considering adding a symphony card and Rosetta 800 (to use in tandem with my Lavry converters) in order to get this kind of performance from my system.
Does this really work as advertised? 1.6 ms throughput latency would change everything for me personally. No more using latency-free software outside of Logic... that's REALLY tempting to me.
    Thoughts?

    iSchwartz wrote:
    1) FWIW, the Apogee's latency specs are good, but there are audio interfaces that (per their published specs) exhibit less latency at 44.1/48 than the Apogee at 96. These include MOTU, RME, and Lynx, to name three.
Good timing on your post IS. I was wondering this myself since starting this thread.
Here's the deal... I currently use a Lynx AES-16 PCI card to connect to 4 I/O's of Lavry 4496 converters. I also use an RME Fireface 800 (as an aggregate device in Logic) to have access to it's 8 D/A's, so I can create headphone mixes.
The lowest I can set my buffer in Logic with this set up is 128. Latency is tolerable, but noticeable. For most musicians, it isn't an issue, but a few feel the "disconnect", and over time this has started to really bother me. It's far from "ideal".
So a few months back, I decided I would use RME's total mix cue software, and monitor through the RME when tracking. I use my Lavry A/D's (with a SPDIF converter box) into the SPDIF input of the RME Fireface. This allows me to get the benefits of my Lavry "sound" on input, while monitoring entirely from the RME, thus allowing me to use it's latency free software.
I am now completely hooked on NO latency for tracking. I can't go back, you know? But this set-up is far from ideal, as there is some tricky routing going on to pull this all off, and I would REALLY love to be able to monitor through Logic completely, eliminating the need for latency free software.
So... I started looking at options a few months back, and the whole Apogee thing came to my attention. At the time, I was simply going to get a Lynx AES-16 PCIe card, for the new Intel Mac but Lynx hadn't finished developing the PCIe card yet.
But since I started gathering info, the Lynx AES-16 PCIe card has become available, and I started wondering... if I bought that, and then, maybe got 4 more channels of Lavry D/A's, to have enough outputs for my cue system... if I could get record with my audio buffer in Logic at 64, or even 32, surely the latency would be negligible... to the point where it sounded non-existent, even if technically it was still there.
So is anyone running buffers that low in Logic, getting non-noticeable latency, AND not getting clicks and pops in the audio as a result of such a low buffer setting?

  • Is there any other way to achieve per user call forward restriction other than to create multiple voice policies?

    Hello,
We mentioned the environment details below:
    Environment
In our PBX environment, currently a user can forward calls to any local (within a region) internal extension. But for external PSTN call forwarding, a user needs to send a request and be approved by their manager. And the forwarding restriction
is applied such that user is only allowed to forward to that particular PSTN number - to prevent toll fraud.
Moving forward to Lync, using voice policy's call forwarding and simultaneous ring PSTN usages, I can set it to allow forward and simultaneous ring to custom PSTN usage and a custom route that will only send calls to these pre-approved
    external numbers.
    Outcome
    But in such a scenario,
sSince all the custom external allowed numbers will have to be put into a single Route match table, User A will be able to successfully
set up call forward to User B's number. (if they come to know about it somehow, that is)
    rü
Route matching list will be very long due to the number of users per hubsite that has call forwarding enabled.
    Questions
Is there any other way to achieve per user call forward restriction other than to create multiple voice policies ? MSPL may be ?
    2. Is there a limit in the number of entries you can have on the Route pattern matching regex expression ?
    Please advise. MANY THANKS.

    1) I think multiple policies may be your best bet, though it's not a fun one to manage, I agree.  MSPL could do it, but it would be more complex to maintain in the end.  Even gateways have limitations on routes.
    2) I'm not aware of a limit, though I'm not saying there's isn't one.  But if you hit it, you could move to a second usage/route combo.
I'd suggest building out some PowerShell usage/route creation/organization script for this so it's not something that would need to be maintained within the GUI.

  • Apogee symphony 64 firmware problem

Having real problems moving from the Apogee Symphony 32 to the Symphony 64.
My setup is Mac Pro 8 core, 2008 running Snow Leopard
    Rosetta 800 audio interface
I changed the card over to the 64. I downloaded the relevant installer for my Mac OS, ie the Symphony 64 installer for snow leopard. I ran that. I did not uninstall Maestro before doing that.
I then got this dialogue "X-Symphony Firmware Mismatch
V0.2 X-Symphony Firmware is out of date for Symphony 64.
    Minimum V2.7 firmware is required."
No suggestion how I do this. Is the firmware on the card or in the Rosetta?
If it's on the card, why on earth is it out of date??? OK, so if it's out of date, how do I update it?
Also I don't know if I am on the current version of Maestro. I had Maestro in place when the Symphony 32 card was in there. Now the version is Maestro 1.9.18
    Symphony Daemon v1.6.21
    Driver v1.0.8
    Firmware v46A
    X-Symphony v0.2
If anyone can help me make sense of this I would be so grateful!!

yeah, you've gotta update the firmware on the X-Symphony card.
    http://www.apogeedigital.com/downloads.php#XSYMPHONY
you've gotta use a MIDI device to connect... it's kind of a pain.  unscrew the top cover of the box and connect via MIDI to the X-Symphony card, and run the firmware installer included with the above link.
    good luck.

  • Are there any links between HR organisation and user roles in R12

    Hi
Do you know if there are any links between HR organisation and user roles i.e. can a role be assigned to an organisation in R12?
    Thanks
    Sean

The thread stack sizes also depend on the type of threads you are
    working with.
If you are working with POSIX threads :
    % man -s 3C pthread_create
or if you are working with Solaris threads :
    % man -s 3C thr_create
For these 2 cases, the default stacksize is 1MB for a 32-bit process.
If you do not wish to use this default value, the man pages show
you how to change this size in your code.
There is a 3rd type of threads which you could be using that are
generated by the compiler when doing compiler parallelization.
By compiling with -xparallel or -openmp=parallel, the compiler
can automatically parallelize loops in your code and create
    threads to do this work.
For these type of threads, the default size is 4MB. However you
can control this behavior through the environment variable
    ${STACKSIZE}
The ${STACKSIZE} units are in KB, so to set your compiler
generated threads stacksize to 8MB, you would say :
    % setenv STACKSIZE 8192
If you are using Studio 11 as your compiler, see the "OpenMP
    API User's Guide" at :
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3694?a=load
and look at section 5.5, "Stacks and Stack Sizes"

    hi
A user master record defines the authorizations assigned to a user. Based on these authorizations one can access the master data.
Master data - it is the data which is used long term in SAP r/3 system such as vendor master , material master, customer master,
there is no such thing like user master data to the best of my knowledge

  • Logic Pro 9 with Apogee Symphony as Live Mixing Solution

We want to skip right past using a classic mixing board and employ Logic Pro with the Apogee Symphony system controlled by the Euphonix MC Control and MC Mix control surfaces as our primary live mixing solution.
    Is this possible?
    Has anyone else tried it?
    What pitfalls might we encounter?
Thanks in advance for your help

Its what I'm doing right now, but with the Ensemble and just MC Control in a project environment. Still setting that up with a NAS-config on the computer side, so havent shaken it down yet. Have high hopes tho. Lets see who posts back first.

  • Help with Logic Pro 8, Apogee Symphony System, and Nehalem 8-core Mac Pro

So here's the problem. I went on a shopping spree recently and purchased an 8-core Nehalem 8-core Mac with 14 GB RAM, Apogee's Symphony system (With Rosetta 800 and AD-16X), and I use this gear with Logic Pro 8.
I still get system overload messages. Sometimes with only 1 virtual instrument and 8 audio tracks!
What gives? I'm running the fastest machine on the fastest system with the fastest/cleanest hardware.
I'm running Logic Pro on all of its highest settings (like it should). Of course I could drop the buffer size and unclick a few things here and there. but why? Is my machine powerful enough to handle it or not?
I've deleted the plist a bunch of times and repaired hardisks and everything. any help from a certified LOGIC pro would be excellent and much appreciated! thanks in advance,

    ?It's highest settings?
Do you mean the sample buffer is at 32 or 1024.
Even though you have Apple's flagship system it's still possible for Logic to bring it to it's knees. High sample rates plus a couple of space designer reverbs can send a single core into an overload condition.
    Try these settings under Preferences/Audio.
    I/O Buffer Size - 256
    Process buffer - medium
Do NOT have the I/O Safety Buffer selected.
    More info.
What sample rate and bit depth are you recording at? ie: 48kHz, 24-bit?
When you open Logic's CPU meters are you seeing a single core spiking?
What effects are being used on the audio and single VI track?

  • Any way to store if a user visited a slide?

    Hi! NewB here.
I was wondering if there is a way to know whether a user has
visited a certain slide or not. I was thinking along the lines of a
variable, although I don't see a direct shot to coding. I do see
that JavaScript (JS) is available. I have never used JS, but if
this would be possible with JS, I could look into it.
Here is what I'm trying to do in case I'm going about this
the wrong way: I have set up a simulation assessment. Although
points are being captured, I don't care about the grading. This
will be part of a Help file or technical support document.
Our application has one (parent) object with many pieces
(children) that are on tabs in the user interface. For this
particular tutorial, they are learning how to set something up, and
to do so, they need to access and make changes to 3 different tabs
on the object. Since the 3 things they need to do are not
sequential, they can start on tab1, tab2, or tab3, and I'd rather
let them have that freedom in the simulation.
I have set up click-boxes for each tab. Now, once they click
on a particular tab, I force them to stay there by giving them
error messages if they don't do the next task. Once they complete
one tab, the click-boxes are again enabled on the other 2 tabs.
Also, the OK button is enabled, so really, they could shortcut the
whole simulation at any time by hitting that. Also, if they have
previously finished one tab, they can still click on one they have
already completed, at which time they will be led back to the
    "before" slide for that tab.
Is there any way to make this work without forcing them to go
in a certain order (that's why I was wondering if I could store a
value if they have visited a slide and use that later)? I'm not
sure there is but thought I would check. Thanks so much!
    Stephanie

    Hi,
There are methods to get the name, meta info of components etc. But they can be called only from within the component. You can check out the methods of if_wd_rr_component, if_wd_component. All these can be called only from within components.
What exactly do you want to do? If you want to include components dynamically, you can create a component usage group, and add new usages of components dynamically. That will solve your problem I think.

  • Any Way to Save a pdf User Manual?

I seem to recall that in previous versions of FCS apps, including Motion, you had the Help option to open (usually in Preview) a pdf User Manual. From there, via the Print dialog, you could do a "Save as PDF", into the folder of your choice.
I often like to have a searchable User Manual which I can access without having to launch the app itself. So I created a special folder into which I would save separate pdf copies of user manuals which had been incorporated into the apps themselves. But in Motion 4, all I'm seeing is an HTML Help Document, and trying to "Save as PDF" via the Print window only seems to let me save the one currently visible page, nothing more.
So -- is there still any way to create a separate, searchable User Manual for Motion (and for the other FCS3 apps), or have even pdf help documents gone the way of those two-ton paper manuals of yesteryear?
    Thanks,
    John Bertram

Yeah, the PDF functionality is lost within the FCS3 apps themselves. The Pro Apps team wanted to be able to continually update the Help files, so they were made (exclusively) web-based.
That resulted in a bit of an outcry. Thankfully, the team listened, we have to now visit the Help pages for each app (here's the one for Motion) and open/download from the View as PDF link.

  • Is there any way to create fields reports users can enter data into?

I am using Crystal XI to develop reports for my company and have not received any formal training on it.  I'm learning it fairly well through the help files.
One of the reports I need to create summarizes our scrap, rework, and additional incurred expenses for our monthly quality reports.  Most of the information is stored in the main program used by all employees, a very small amount of it is not.  I have created sub-reports for each of the different types of costs that are tracked in the system.
Is there any way to create an area on the report that our QA people can use to enter the items not tracked in the main system?  I am imagining that it would be through another sub-report of some kind, but do not know how to create the fields needed.
Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide, even if it is to tell me "You can't do that, ma'am..."  At least then I would know and wouldn't beat my head against the desk trying to figure out how to do it.

Is defining parameter prompts in the Crystal Report and displaying it in the report a possible workaround?
If you define parameter prompts, then Crystal will query the user before running the report - so this would be problematic if the user needs to reference data in the report to enter appropriate values (one possibility then is to use interactive parameters feature available in CR 2008).
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda
