Any 3rd party wireless cards that fit in Airport slot?

Hi,
I was wondering if there was a third party wireless card (preferebly N) that would fit inside an imac g4 airport card slot? I already have a usb solution but I would prefer and intergrated solution that fit inside the airport slot, as USB ports are sparse on the machine (3). The reason im asking is because the original extreme cards are hard to find as they arent made any more and they go for upwards of $30 for a used one and thats just for G.
Any suggestion?

Your question is really more about the iMac G4 and it's capabilities. You might get a faster answer if you post in the iMac G4 Forum under the wireless and networking discussions.

  • Are there any 3rd Party metric tools that does metrics on who access pages?

    Hello Gurus,
Are there any 3rd Party metric tools that does metrics on who access iviews?
I am inquiring on a tool that we can determine how useful the iview(s) to
    the users community.
I understand that SAP has an ADC project.  But we are also interested if there
are ant 3rd Party tool that can aggregate the ADC flat file contents and summarize
the data.  Additionally, if the 3rd Party has out-of-the box reportable iviews.
We are also open to suggestions of 3rd Party tools that can capture user's iview
metrics without using ADC flat files.
And finally, my wish list: is there is a 3rd party tool that can capture when users'
clicks in the iview.  That is the ultimate metric to absolutely know if the iview is
    useful to the user community.
    Thanks,

  • 3rd party wireless cards

Are there any drivers for wireless cards from a 3rd party, say netgear, had one laying around, tried to use it, I did try orangeware.com, but that didnt work, software did, hardware didnt, any Ideas?
my mobo has no provisions for airport.

Got an 802.11g PCMCIA card from MacWireless.com for my Ti Powerbook G4. Works fine; no problems with either Tiger or Leopard.
Per instructions, I started by removing the Airport 802.11b card that came with the G4. MacWireless accepted it for a rebate, which made the new card free. Easier than selling the Airport myself.

  • How to control an Apple Base Station with 3rd-party wireless card?

I recently upgraded my early 2004 Power Mac G5 2GHz DP to the 802.11n standard using a Newertechnology MAXPower 802.11n/g/b Wireless PCI Adapter to communicate with my new "n"-standard 2TB Time Capsule. My G5 shipped with an 802.11g-standard Airport Card which I disconnected when I installed the PCI card to avoid hardware conflicts. The new n-standard wireless set-up works without a problem, but having lost the Apple Airport Card, I no longer have the ability to control/manipulate the Timecapsule via the third-party card e.g. I cannot connect/disconnect my internet connection or otherwise troubleshoot the base station.
So, the question is, how can control an Apple base station with a third-party wireless card? As it stands now, I must boot up my laptop just to see if I have a connection.
    My thanks in advance,
    T. North

Thanks for the assistance. Yes, I can indeed administer the Time Capsule from inside the Airport Utility, but I am still unable to connect or disconnect the Internet connection like you can with an Airport card (using the Airport drop-down menu.) If my ISP signal drops for whatever reason (which is does often) I have to boot up my laptop just to reconnect. Is there some feature within the Airport Utility that permits one to connect/disconnect the signal? If there is, I haven't found it yet.

  • Can I create a LaunchDaemon for my 3rd-party wireless card?

    Hi there,
I wanted to get .11n wireless on my old Power Mac G5 (Quad 2.5) so I bought a third-party PCI-E card. It works fine, however it's not AirPort compatible, and so at present I have to run it from my Login Items, which in turn means the network isn't available until I login. It uses an application called RALink Wireless Utility.
Does anyone know if there is a way of creating a custom Launch Daemon/Agent for the Wireless Utility app so that I can get it to connect to the wireless network from the login screen? If that is not possible I could get the computer to login automatically on my account, but ideally it would be good to have the launchd option...
    Thanks!

    Hi BDAqua,
Sorry for not replying... I've been meaning to try this out but haven't had time yet, but thanks for the link and I'll let you know how I get on!

  • Did apple send an update that eliminates any 3rd party chargers?

Having an issue on my iPad Air. I have some apple brand chargers and some others around the house. Usually use the non branded because of the longer cord and bedside location.  All chargers were working fine until Tuesday. Now none of the non apple chargers will charge it from any location. They all make the usual sound when connected but now say "not charging". Nothing has changed on my end.
Did apple send an update that eliminates any 3rd party chargers? That would be very heavy handed and downright unfair.
Does anyone know what is causing this?

I believe that yes, the iOS 8.x update is more touchy/sensitive to what charger you use, especially on higher current devices like the iPad. I would assume that this behavior is to more strictly regulate what chargers work/don't work and to more adequately & safely and charge the iPad. I really doubt it was meant to "eliminate any 3rd party chargers". 3rd party chargers may not provide enough current to adequately charge the device, especially those of low amperage and/or those meant to charge the iPhone/iPod.
Check your 3rd party chargers and make sure they provide 10 amps or more of output current. Those that do not are more likely to not charge correctly and display the "not charging" message.

  • 3rd party capture cards

I just got a new Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro to use with FCE, but it appears that FCE doesn't support any 3rd party capture cards.... or am I just not looking in the right place ?

You're correct. FCE does not support third party capture cards. You need FCP for that.

  • Is any 3rd party hardware/platforms  required to enable communi with SAP?

    Hi Gurus,
What server side hardware/platforms are required to enable communication with SAP mobile devices? What would be a typical production setup? Would there be any 3rd party components here that would require licensing?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi,
if you want to communicate with SAP Mobile devices - you need a SAP Netweaver installation in Mobile UsageMode. This is called the middleware system. It is not recommended to have this setup onn your Backend system but to have a dedicated server for it - cause of Workload, performance and monitoring.
If you run MI client on a PDA - then you need to install NSICom Creme as Java runtie on PDA - but the license is already included in SAP MI lizensing cost.
If you have to support larger Datasets, then you might need to install DB2e as persistence layer. This causes an additional licensing you need to pay to IBM - I think via SAP, but well, at the end you need to pay something on top if you run DB2e. The normal used persistence is free of charge. It is called FileIO up to MI7.0, with MI7.1 it is called MinDB.
So all you really need, is a dedicated Netweaver Mobile Box.
    Hope that helps!
    - oh I have seen - check your other post on that topic as well .--- this post here is for occasionally connected apps - this other post talks about MobileOnline as well---

  • I have a PVR which supports DLNA connected to my home network.  I want to access files on my MacBook from the PVR.  I understand that my MacBook doesn't support DLNA. Is there any 3rd party  software that I can install on my MacBook to provide DLNA?

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me please.
I have a Personal Video Recorder (Humax HDR-1010S), which supports DLNA, connected to my home network via Wi-Fi.
I want to play music from iTunes and view photos from iPhoto from my MacBook (which is also connected to the home network) via the PVR / TV / Home Cinema sound system.  I understand that my MacBook (running OS X Mavericks) doesn't support DLNA server.
Is there any 3rd party  software that I can install on my MacBook to provide DLNA server?
    Thanks,

My recollection is that the iPhoto library has some fairly robust protections to prevent inadvertent or even deliberate changes being made that might have unwanted consequences. I'll take alook at my setup and let you know if I can see anything that might help you. Even if you get Serviio to "see" the iPhoto library, it almost ceratinly won't show the album structure and names. What I did is to export each iPhoto album to a standard folder with the appropriate folder name. These I keep on an external backup disc and Serviio can see these without trouble.

  • Any 3rd party Database Activity Monitoring products that read Archive Logs?

I've been doing lots of research to find auditing-related 3rd party software products that read Oracle's archive log files. Many products are available for 'log' monitoring for security etc., but so far I've not found any that read the actual archive log files themselves. LogMiner is useful, but need to know if other products exist.
    Any info is appreciated! Thanks.....

  • Any 3rd party utilities that fix full screen mode for multi-monitor users?

I am a multi-monitor user.  As multi-monitor users know, full screen mode is basically useless since if you try to go full screen on one monitor, it causes the other monitor to go blank and become unusable (at least with most programs).  Are there any 3rd party utitilities or fixes for this?
    Thanks

Spaces, which is what this functionality stems from, was limited in that it used your entire setup and switched all of the screens over; space to space. I never used spaces because I always had multiple monitors and I was always working with multiple apps simultaneously that I wanted to be able to reference while working on the others.
Now they call Spaces, "mission control" and changed the appearance of it, but the functionality remained the same, each workstation comprised all of your monitors, and would switch over all of them when switching to a new "Desktop".
Fullscreen apps wrongly assumes that it can take the functionality of the afformentioned MS/Spaces and use it for one app, negating the whole idea of why someone would have multiple screens (real estate to work with other applications).
If they stop considering multiple monitors as one Workspace, they can then make it so they are asynchronous "tablets" instead of one conjoined entity.
So, you say people have been asking about this for 2 years, I've been asking for this for 5!
The issue here is, the only answer is to not use it. Making Mission Control and Fullscreen apps completely ignored by people like us, where I could be using both functions to glide around my work station and three monitors, mixing and matching which apps I want to be viewed on each separate monitor, to perform one single task; together.
It would actually reward people who wanted to utilize Thunderbolt technology and have more then one monitor.
There is no telling why apple chose to push out something that would only support the casual user, with one display, but the only direct way to let apple know that we feel limited by the OS is to send feedback. Even though it seems that we are powerless in this situation, I hope that they do consider how to make this function better.

  • Help With Third Party Wireless Cards

Hello, I am needing some help with third party wireless cards. I have purchased and installed the Linksys WMP54G wireless PCI card into my G4. From what ive seen on the discussions page here, this card is known to work with the G4s in place of the more expensive Airport Extreme card. The only problem is that my G4 doesnt even recognize that the card is in the PCI slot. Ive tryed the other PCI slots and still nothing. Previously, i have tried using a belkin and a d-link card that have been known to work in the G4s as well, and had the same problem. I am 100% sure that the card is seated correctly, and cant think of any other reason why it shouldnt detect that something is in the slot. If anyone can inform me what im doing wrong, or has any info on how to get it working, that would be great. Thanks for your time,
    ~Jared
Powermac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.8)   2 gb ram, 200 gb hd, dual display

Yes, i run Digidesigns audio editing program called Protools on my Mac. It uses a PCI card to import mic/line audio signals into the program from the hardware interface. I tried moving the Digidesign card and putting the wireless card in the same slot, and still nothing, although the Digidesign card works fine in the other slots. Each time i moved the Digidesign card, it showed up in the different slots, although the ones that were open did not show up at all. Only the PCI slots that are in use show up in ASP on my machine. I have the FW-800 version of the G4, so im not sure if that makes any difference. I have never erased the PRAM before, would you be able to give me directions on how to do that? Thanks a ton for your help. =)

  • Any 3rd party armband suitable for Nokia 5630?

    Hi,
I've been thinking about getting a Nokia 5630 Comes With Music, but there's one thing that has been stopping me.
Isn't it little odd that this phone is targeted to music lovers, but there are no official armbands (for sports and jogging)? This is kind of a deal breaker to me, as I would love to listen to music whilst jogging.
I couldn't even find any 3rd party armbands, and with those there's always the risk that the phone doesn't fit snuggly (annoying when jogging and the phone keeps moving).
Please help me get rid of my money by recommending something to solve this problem :')

Why not try the Nokia CP-402?

  • Can any 3rd party sensors be used with this system?

I have several wireless door sensors currently in use with my ADT system that I plan to cancel soon. Is there a way to use these with the gateway?
Can any 3rd party IP camera be used with the gateway, or only the ones provided on your site?
Supported or not, just wondering if theses items will work. Thanx ~

Zwave is a Propiertary standard protocol.
Both ADT And Verizon are offering us off the shelf zwave devices.
So we "should" have been able to use any zwave devices.
    But no...
it appears that Verizon has decided to lock out anything they haven't sold us directly
    (lock out from their gateway).

  • Can't sign in using any 3rd party email client with my iCloud account on any Mac. Tried every settings, My iCloud only works with Mail.app

Can't sign in using any 3rd party email client with my iCloud account on any Mac or any other Mac. My iCloud will only work with Mail.app. All the clients I tried work perfectly well as long as I sign in with somebody else's iCloud account. But mine won't work no matter the client (Postbox, Unibox, Airmail...) and no matter the computer.
I can access my account on iCloud.com, but I can't use email clients without getting error messages prompting me to check my password or login.
I was able to use those clients in the past but a couple of months ago I got logged out of Airmail and the issue started just like that!
I tried every possible mail server settings including the following:
IMAP information for the incoming mail server
    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
If you receive errors when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
    Port: 993
Username: The name part of your iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker, not [email protected])
    Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP information for the outgoing mail server
    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
If you receive errors when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
    Port: 587
    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: Your full iCloud email address (for example, [email protected], not emilyparker)
    Password: Your iCloud password

Those are the correct settings, and they work with any email client that supports Imap.
    Try again.
