Any advice on exporting DivX

I would like to play my movies off a USB pen drive to a car T.V. which gives a resolution of 1440x234 I've coppied the specs

I obviously want to keep the size down
I usually go by trail and error on the settings but never feel happy that I knew what I was doing so.. How do I go about producing a tailor made divX file for this T.V.?

Have a computer with a Fresh MacOS install, and Fresh FCP install, and everything updated fully. If you are crashing all the time, that means something isn't right.

Ach... I found a solution thanks to previous posts which came to light after I'd posted what was obviously a question that had been asked before.

Whenever I try to store a lightroom preset using a folder on HDD it keeps jumping back to "export to mail". Any advice? Thanks!

Actually the headline says it all. I can't store preset that store on HDD. Lightroom always stores them as "export to email". Strange enough. Any advice here?

Hi,
If you have not already I would change the Slide size to something that has a 4:3 Ratio.
The Buddy maybe trying to scroll left and right to see the whole slide although this shoud be controlled at you end.
I would open the Connection Doctor during a Chat (iChat's Video menu).
Check that both Bit Rates are relatively stable (there is always some variance.)
Anything over 5% particularly if over 500kbps is likely to be causing problems.
You could try limiting the Bandwidth (iChat Menu > Preferences > Video section) to 500kbps at both ends
It may pay to drop to 200kbps as a test. (you may lose the Side by Side presentation at this speed).

I shoot and edit mostly wedding videos using my Panasonic HMC40 HD camera, and shoot in 720p. I am looking for any advice that you have learned yourself, or maybe see something I am doing completly wrong, and let me know.
Here we go: My normal workflow is to shoot my footage, and then use the "Log and Transfer" option in FCP7. Once it has completed, I start the editing process, by cutting, adding effects, slowing things down to about 50%, and adding some black and white. (simple stuff). Most of my timelines for these videos turn out to be around 20 minutes. Once everything is completed, I choose, "Export, to Quicktime Movie"

Once I proceed to export, this is where my problem comes in.
for a 20 min video, it is taking roughly 2-3 hours for export to a .mov file. Seems pretty unacceptable to me... (maybe this is normal though?...)

I have read that you should resize the frame to 640 by 640 or 1000 x 1000, and have tried both. I shot the footage on canon 70d using 720p60fps, and edited the footage with iMovie. Its been frustrating to see the finished product look great on iPhone, iPad, or mac but once i post the video- the quality gets blurry when you focus on the faces that are in focus. Simple export a ProRes 422 file, upload that by itself. Facebook, Vimeo, YoutTube, etc, all compress the video themselves. So don't compress it first, just upload it and let them do their own compression.

What happens when, after you connect your cam, you go to File > Import Media?
But before that, does your cam require you to export your video files upon USB connection? I have a JVC Everio HD and I have to "Export to Library" from the cam's menu first-thing. This was true even in prior iMovie versions.

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
* Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
* Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

NEED THE BEST QUALITY QUICKTIME MOVIE FOR DVD! THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.

I just finished a three minute piece that will be shown on DVD and projected to a sixteen foot screen. I usually just output a self-contained quicktime movie with current settings and then compress with bitvice. While I'm happy with those results, because of the size of this screening, I'm curious whether there might be better options for output to quicktime, such as uncompressed, etc?
I've also heard that I could output as a Jpeg, or a PNG file, but I'd love some advice on what works best and the workflow, as I need to get this done fast and can't really afford the time to experiment.

That will provide the best quality ... the quality won't improve over what you had in FCP. Depending on your source media type(s), you may have had a better quality export IF you had edited and rendered with another setting.

Premiere to Encore problems...any advice?

I'm about to rip my hair out so somebody please help me with this! I am new to using Encore, and am in desperate need of some guidance. Have looked on plenty of other forums and found no anwers. So here it is:
I have edited a HD sequence in Premiere, frame rate 29.97, it looks great. Then I send it to Encore through Dynamic link. All is well except when there is motion like a golf swing see below.. I've tried different export methods like P2 movie and Mpeg2 but i get the same problem. I've also tried different codecs and quality settings. Is this a interlacing problem? codec? frame rate? field order? bitrate? Is it something insanely simple that I am missing? ANY advice would be incredibly appreciated.

Did you convert the interlaced video to progressive somewhere?
Do you have frame rate conversions or speed changes with frame blending?
Did you accidentally invert the field order somewhere along the way?
If the answer to all those questions is, "No", then I'm out of ideas.

have you tried doing a save as to a different location? If that doesn't work, do a search here. I seem to remember people having the same problem.
You could also try doing an xml export (I think 5.1 has that capability).

Why don't I get any sound when export from imovie to quicktime DVD

Help. I am a new imovie user so hope not being stupid. am using G4 powerbook with OS X 10.3.9. imovie 3.0.3 and quick time 7.1.2. Have made 2 films so far - first exported fine into quicktime with sound. Second exports but without any sound. This film is 5 mins long. It plays fine in imovie, and if exported as low quality for web also records sound (when 188 kg), but big version for DVD gives the problem. thanks for any advice. Sue

Welcome to discussions!
It may be that your quicktime is not getting along well with you OS X version...try to revert back to another version of quicktime (BUT- I don't know if this will work with your current QuickTime though)

Having a prob importing a large file from a sony DR 60 external drive via log a transfer in FCP this is the first time this has happened have the sony plug. HDisc compatibility is sorted as the first 2 short clips are imported. Any advice will be welcome

I can think of 2 things to check.
1. The Scratch disc has plenty of space.
2. System Settings>Scratch Disc does not have a restriction in the Limit Capture/Export File Size Segment To:
