Any advice on visually impaired use of iPhone keypad?

I have impaired vision but would welcome the opportunity to use the features of an iPhone.
Can you give advice on the best model for me?

Accessibility features are identical among all iPhones running the latest version of iOS, so your choices amount to how much storage you would like, color, and cell service carrier. The models currently being produced are the iPhone 5s, the slightly less expensive iPhone 5c, and the iPhone 4s which is free with a new cell phone contract. I don't recommend the 4s because the only configuration available in the US is 8 GB which is a paltry amount.
If you do not require a cell phone, an iPad would seem to be the logical choice for anyone with low vision, since it's bigger. The only reason I mentioned this is that you specifically asked about the keyboard. If that is your main concern, you can always use a full size Bluetooth keyboard with any iPhone.

  • Is there any way to enable rSAP, use the iPhone as a modem, create sms folders, and show the day's calender on the home screen?

    Hi folks
Had iPhone for a while and generally happy, but it seems I still need to keep my old nokia E72 because I cannot seem to use the iPhone as a modem, nor does it support rSAP.
Also, while I like the threaded sms view, I'd also like the option to create sms folders to stash away my banking sms info, all of which comes from different numbers, and filled the sms inbox with hundreds of messages.
Lastly, having the meeting for the day diplayed somewhere on the home screen would be great if there were a way to do it. Yes, I can go into calender easy enough, but unless I develop the habit of checking it all the time, I often forget about a meeting whereas on the old nokia, it was always displayed.
What gives with the lack of flash support? Maybe ol Steve dislikes adobe, but it seems like a serious lack to me. Even the old nokia has some flash support.
Given that, I must say I love the seperate calenders and contacts. It's great to be able to keep home contacts seperate from work ones, but still have them on the same phone. Email is great two - full html support seems like a given but it works really well.

rSAP has largely been supplanted by ABAP, which the iPhone supports. Most modern smartphones, including the iPhone do NOT store any information on the SIM.
SMS inboxes. Not much to say. I've never had a desire to do this. I understand it could be useful, but it's unlikely to change.
As for meetings on the home screen... Wait for iOS 5
Flash: it's not JUST that Steve doesn't like flash. Adobe has failed to produce a workable version of Flash for iOS. Blame has to go to both sides.  I say good riddance to it.

  • HT1386 I replaced my iPad and now don't see the iPad backup in iTunes.  Any advice?  Should I use my latest iPhone backup or will that create problems?

I swapped out my broken iPad for a new one, and went to sync in iTunes and only see my iPhone backups.  Should I use those to back it up (most of the apps are the same across both, and same with the email, calendar, and contacts settings).  Will that create problems if I use the same backup for two devices?  Thanks!

No it will not create problems but if the iPad that you got is running an iOS less than what you are running on the iPhone, you will have to update the iPad first, before you can restore from the phone backup. You can't use the backup of a newer iOS on a device running an older iOS without updating the device first.

  • Traveling to Italy from US, advice for cost effective use of iPhone?

What is the basic 'need to do' to have access to make calls for emergencies only?  When wifi is available, will I be able to access without it costing me?  Can I do facetime via wifi?  Thank you.

    That adaptor should work.

  • Discoverer and Visually Impaired Users

Does Discoverer offer any features to visually impaired and/or disabled users?
    Thanks.

Discoverer is ADA compliant, so if you have a screenreader like JAWS, you can use it with Discoverer.
    Thanks

  • Can I use my iPhone to transfer music from my PC to my new MacBook?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and I really want to transfer my music from my old PC onto the new MacBook. Is there any way that I can use my iPhone to transfer the music?

    yes.
    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
also, there are PhoneView and iRip.

  • Can you deactivate the phone feature and still use an iphone?

Can you deactivate the phone feature and use an iphone as an ipod touch and still sync with iTunes?? I would like multiple answers so I can compare.

You can remove the SIM card to prevent any cell phone services and use the iPhone as an iPod Touch.
You can cancel your service with AT&T or use the SIM card with another phone, or get a new phone with AT&T using the SIM card that shipped with the new phone to activate phone and use the iPhone as an iPod Touch.
In order to install a firmware update on a no longer activated iPhone, or restore a no longer activated iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed, the no longer activated SIM card must be inserted in the iPhone to complete the process - the SIM card that was used with the iPhone when it was activated.

    Hi, ireland a.
I would recommend closing any open applications in multitasking and restarting the device.  If unfamiliar with multitasking, I have included a screenshot on how to process an application close.
iOS: Force an app to close
Once these steps are processed, attempt to send the photo again.

Doesn't matter.  That store is likely selling illegit iphones, brought oin from somewhere else.
The fact remains the UAE government does not allow Facetime on iphones legitimately sold there.

  • Is there a way to wire my iPhone into my household landline and use it without a sim as such ? any advice would be greatly appreciated

is there a way to wire my iPhone into my household landline and use it without a sim as such ? any advice would be greatly appreciated

Mobile devices do not get "wired" to anything.
There are devices that will allow for connecting a mobile phone via Bluetooth to the base station which is plugged into the phone lines in the home. Then calls can be placed/received from any phone in the home.
There are cordless phones that do a similar function.
Search google.... this has nothing to do with Apple or the iPhone specificially.

Did you delete these photos from your iPhone?
Look in the Camera Roll, not the Photo Stream.

  • Using my iPhone 3G in Italy - Any advice or info?

I will be traveling to Italy and am wondering about the best way to use my iPhone there w/o ending up with $1,000 of charges from AT&T after I return.
I have heard that if I keep it in Airport mode when I don't need data/phone, I can use apps like audio tours I can download from iTunes.
I don't plan to do much calling, maybe once every day or two to make reservations for trains or restaurants.
I would like to take pictures and upload them to FB each day, though. That might be expensive, no?
I'd also like to check email at least once or twice a day.
Any information you can share would be great.

This link may be helpful. You need to ensure that international roaming is enabled for your line/number by AT&T.

You can enable Airplane mode which disables all iPhone radios - phone, data, bluetooth, GPS, and wi-fi. With Airplane mode enabled, it is possible to turn on wi-fi access only. You can use this when there is an available wi-fi network that you want to access without worrying about receiving any calls or text, or data access via the cellular network.
