Any api/tools to convert other video format to 3GPP format?

i want to convert video format other than 3GPP format to 3GPP format(many j2me mobile support this format). NOKIA provide Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 to do this manually , but what i want is to convert it at the server side (the use case is: a user upload his/her video clip to a server and the server logic convert it to 3GPP format which can be played by most mobiles)
is there any java api on this?
thanks in advance!
daniel

  • How can I convert DVD- video into Apple's format so that it can be played and streamed from my Mac?

How can I convert DVD- video into Apple's format so that I can play the content on my Mac and also stream it to my Apple TV? A few years ago, I transferred all of my home videos onto DVD but now would really like to put these onto my Mac and stream them through Apple TV to watch on the "big screen". Any advice would be most welcome!! Thanks

    MPEG Streamclip.
Apple do not have their "own" format. You need to convert your DVDs to H.264 though.

  • Converting a video to mpeg-2 format for a TV station. Format profile set to "main@main" required. How do I do that? Help!

I am converting a video to mpeg-2 format for a TV station and they require me to have a format profile set to "main@main." How do I do that? Help!

Main@main aka MP@ML (main profile @ main level) is the conformance point for most
    cable and satellite TV systems.
The station should be able to supply you with specific specs but more than likely they are conforming to what DG deliverable specs also are for MPG-2. One of the big things is in the Xtras tab of the setting.
You must have the YUV 4:2:2 box checked. The caveat being you will not be able to check the files playback on your system.  To my knowledge QT/Mac has yet to come up with a way to playback these files(you can play them but there will be no picture).

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
See: iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
    Try MPEG Streamclip.

Really getting on my nerves since I bought this ipod how much trouble ive had with music and video's....might consider getting a Sandisk with its drag and drop.
anyways can anyone plz explain how to do it in itunes so it doesnt make me return this new ipod.

Search for __Skuld Video iPod Converter__. It takes a little while to convert each video file, but that's to be expected. Completely free, no watermark, no hassle.

  • Web-based API tool for remote edit videos

Hello, sorry for posting in a wrong place. I'm looking for an API for remote editing uploaded video files. Our website allows to record streams to MP4 file and storage them on our servers (mostly streamed games). Now I would like to edit this videos by simply cut (start video from here, end video here) and then export new file to Youtube. I need to do that remotly, not by additions software installed on users computers. Does anyone knows API like that? Twitch.tv has that feature, and I would like to have it too on my streamspot.tv webpage
    Thanks for help

  • How can I convert a video to a playable format?

This is a combined iTunes / iPod touch question.
I downloaded a video to iTunes. It is in 3pg format and it and plays perfectly in iTunes. However, when I tried to sync it into the iPod touch, it stopped with the error message that the touch could not play that type of file. So I used the "Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone" selection in iTunes and converted it to m4p format. Although this was able to load into the touch, it is corrupted to the point of being impossible to view or listen to. By corrupted, I mean that it "stutters" at a rapid rate. How else might I load the 3pg file into the touch, or how else could I convert it into something that is listenable?

3pg is an odd format... That or I just never seen it before. :P
iTunes just ***** at converting videos. So far all videos I tried converting with iTunes have resulted in the same error you got.
You're better-off using 3rd party apps, and then copying to iTunes, and then copying to the iPod.
Unfortunately I don't know of any conversion programs for Windows.
If you by chance have a mac, this program works great: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/flv2itunes.html
The mac version of Handbrake below works great, hopefully the Windows version does, too:
    http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
When converting with handbrake, make sure to use the iPod preset for the out-put video.
    Hope this helps a little.

  • How to convert a Video TS to a format I can copy to DVD

I have a DVD from a friend that he used Video TS format.
I was able to copy an image to a new DVD using Disk Utilites. It started to play the DVD but seconds later it said the DVD has a scratch or something else wrong. I then copied it using another DVD but again as I was test running, it errored out after a few seconds of running the video TS files.
I am not sure if there is a different way I can make an exact copy of this DVD.
It plays well when I insert it to my DVD Read Writer in my eMac. I can even run it straight from DVD Player, I can open the folder and runs fine.
But it stops and errors out only when doing an disk image in Disk Utility.
Anyone knows what I can do ?

    Hi Jose
You will certainly get lots of advices on programs to use here but I will share
a more brute and in my opinion higher quality way.
Use Your miniDV Camera. Connect it to a stand-alone DVD-player and copy
to a new miniDV tape. Use this in iMovie or FCE/P.
This way gives highest quality to my knowledg BUT DON'T be tempted to set
Your Camera into LP-mode. This will result with:
    - jittery and jumpy clips
    - 12-bit sound and because of this severe audio sync problems.
alt. Use a 90 min tape instead of 60 if You need to. They exist at least from
    SONY (premium).

  • Is there any way I can convert s-video to firewire in HD?

I am using sony video cameras with s-video or RCA outputs and I would like to use the firewire into to the Mac. Is there a device I can use to convert it to the Mac?

I'm with Grant on the issue of your camera...  Pretty much everything since the turn of the century (since Digital 8 more specifically) has been equipped with FW out to assist in capture. (More recently FW disappeared when videocams went tapeless.)
From a hardware standpoint you can capture VHS using either of those suggested devices (I favor the Canopus or DataVideo Digital-to-Analog convertors) but you're probably going to run into problems with the software end of the capture. I'm not sure that iMovie knows what VHS is, and unless you have an older copy of Final Cut Pro stashed away you're in trouble there too since the latest version (Final Cut Pro X) doesn't have much support for tape capture, much less VHS capture.
The smart money is to take the $200-300 you'd invest in convertors and buy a Flip or something that iMovie can talk to. Then you can get to the business of making that movie.

  • Converting .MOV video file into FLV format?

Hello, I finished editting a corporate video for client and they want to know if I can also send them an FLV format video.
Does anyone know how I can do this.  I edited video in Final Cut Pro and used Compressor to export my final .mov video file.
How do I make this a FLV file?
    Thanks~

The best method would be to use a Flash encoder to transcode the video.  Do you have a Flash encoding application?
Another method would be to export an H.264 file of the video.  When it's finished, change the file extension to .flv.  It should play in later versions of Flash player, but won't play in older versions.

  • Converting 500GB video to PC-compatible format? OS 10.7.4

    Hello -
I have ~500GB of resources for a short film on a mac-formatted drive. The resources are all in mac-compatible format (.mov; .jpeg & others). Is there any way to transfer these to another drive that is PC-compatible in PC-readable format?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Best,
    Rax

OS X can only read NTFS. To write to an NTFS formatted drive you need to install third party software on your Mac. To avoid that, you can format the drive from the Windows computer as exFAT. OS X can both read and write that format. OS X can also format a drive as exFAT, but there seems to be some kind of incompatibility. Often, Windows users can't access a drive formatted as exFAT on a Mac, but have no problem if the formatting is done from Windows.
If you need the drive to remain NTFS, then you can purchase and install Paragon NTFS for Mac, or Tuxera for Mac. There used to be a paid and free version of Tuxera, but I don't think there's a free version anymore.
As far as the "incompatibility" issue, that's likely on the Windows side. By default, Windows XP does not support exFAT. You need to download and install an extension from Microsoft so XP can read/write/format that type of drive. So Windows users who say they can't read an exFAT drive are most likely on XP. So if you know the drive is going to an Win XP system, make sure they have this extension installed.
