Any begginers make money using photoshop for logo design etc?

For example, on fiver, elance etc?

Hello,
I'm not a web designer, but I would recommend looking at Lynda.com as a resource. They have a number of free video links. If you subscribe to their (vast) video tutorial library, it is pretty reasonable on a month-to-month basis.

  • I can no longer use Photoshop for UI Design (PS CC + Retina display)

Since I bought the new MacBook Pro with retina display, Photoshop can no longer be an option for user interface design.
I'm runningn the last Photoshop CC update, and each file opens at 50% size compared to other standard displays, which makes working with old files frustrating. Besides, creating a new 1200 wide document to start a web design makes no sense (too small).
    - View > 200% isn't a solution, things look pixelated.
    - To increase the resolution from 72ppi to 220 (retina display) isn't a solution, it doesn't affect the document size
    - Working with a document with 2x size can't be a solution: I should create everything with a 2x size (stroke, shadows, even rounded corners), which would push PS even more far away from being a tool that can be used for UI design.
Should we just expect that PS on a high-res display behave like that? I don't think so. Besides, the guys of Sketch App (a tool for UI design, that I'm currently working with) found a solution - the retina canvas option:
You can choose to see bitmap images pixelated, but still the vectors will look exactly like on the browser. By choosing to see the document at the same size but with more details, retina users can enjoy the power of the new MacBook while working on UI design.
Am I missing something? Should we expect this option in Photoshop too?

It upsets me to see that this was initially posted almost a year ago and there was no answer. There also seems to be no answer to various other questions about the same issue. Adobe do you care? I am already guessing that Apple doesn't. I know that Adobe has been at the top of this industry. Time for someone else to compete? This is a highly frustrating issue for UI and web designers.

Identity cards are not things individuals typically make.
You can get yourself into big trouble forging fake IDs.

I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text  or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?

The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

What is the purpose of your business? For logo design?
Can anybody reply the best message in this...

    Hi Kittu,
There may come a requirement of creating a new attribute or method of a Business Object which doesn't exist in the standard Business Object.
In these cases, you may have to create a sub-type of Business object and write your own code(logic) for attributes or methods.
    Clarifications are welcome.

  • Using Photoshop for offset printing projects (packaging) - simple or complex?

    Hi,
I'm about to start a new project. It's a product package (box).
Normally, I would do this in Illustrator. However, I was wondering if I could do it all in Photoshop by saving the final output as a PDF.
I've only ever used Photoshop in 4-color process scenarios and numeric printing. In other words, "sky's the limit" scenarios, where all I need to care about is how it looks on the screen. I'm not sure how to attack this from the perspective of offset printing.
I've checked with the printer, and he says a CMYK PDF is fine. But that the basic rules of offset still apply.
First, is it realistic of me to envision doing this box in Photoshop? It would really save me a lot of time not having to switch back and forth from PS to AI the way I usually do in projects like these.
How would I go about telling a text layer to use a specific offset pantone, or pure black, for instance?
Am I making too big a deal out of something simple, or am I being unreasonably simplistic regarding something more complex?

...or am I being unreasonably simplistic regarding something more complex?
Probably yes (no offense). Just a few random thoughts:
    - you can't do die, glue and fold lines in PS as you can't do specific other custom print marks required for stamping, foil coating, varnishing or whatever
    - process colors in PS are limited to multichannel/ duotones/ tritones and since they will be raster, they will never print sharp, especially when printing on something like uncoated C or G flute
    - similarly, barcodes and other required markings may not print correctly
So no, there is possibly no way you can do this in just PS. In particular the cutting part will require a complementary EPS/ PDF based on genuine vector data and it really doesn't hurt to have proper alignement crosshairs, either.

  • Is there any way I can use photoshop on 2 computers?

I use photoshop cs6 on my imac. but I recently got a laptop. I would like to be able to use it on both. How can I?

    Hello,
Is the laptop also a Mac? You are allowed to install Photoshop on 2 personal machines (of same platform for the perpetual license. Either Mac or PC for Cloud Subscription)
Just can't use them at same time.

  • What is the best tablet for using photoshop for professional editing??

Okay, I know Apple and their ipads are popular.  But popularity is not what I'm looking for.  I'm looking for compatibility, between photoshop and the tablet itself.  I want to get over using the mouse for everything.  I'm not quite sure if apple is the best choice.  Or is it?
I'm very new to all this tablet stuff. lol  Please advise
Oh my goodness.  Is the Ipad not advanced enough for a full blown photoshop program?! I geuss I overestimated them. Goodness.  It really is just a on the go kind of thing?....  Again. I'm new to this whole tablet thing.  So if you guys know anything. Please advise lol.  I'm a complete Newbie.

Windiv, 'Tablet' - the generic term is used differently for each context. iPad is a generic tablet. While for Photoshop editing, you need a tablet such as Wacom Intuos - they're 'design tablets' in specific. They have 'full-blown' capabilities with Photoshop and majority of other Professional Graphic softwares.

  • Any chance of success using iMovie for Film Festival Submission?

Say with iMovie, say 11, 09, or my old HD?
Or do I need Final Cut, say Express?
Will I be able to submit a sufficiently high def version using iMovie 11? Or will the degradation be too much, supposing that I edit in iMovie, then burn to DVD with iDVD.
The film will be about 7 minutes and shot with Panasonic GH1 and a Go Pro in HD. There may be slow motion and a mix of ambient sound, voice, and music.
It'll be entirely shot outdoors under somewhat nasty conditions. Meaning no lights, usually no tripod.
The reason I mention these latter points is that perhaps the quality of what I bring back (shaky, low light) might be the limiting factor and not the image degradation.
I have made many iMovies for YouTube, but would like to go bigger, so to speak, in quality of video, not necessarily length.
Would I benefit from going to Final Cut Express? Or could I stick with iMovie?
Anybody out there ever use iMovie for something like Banff Mtn Film Festival?

    Yes, Banff Mtn Film Festival:
Here's what they ask (don't actually understand all the requirements, yet)
    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
For purposes of pre-selection, judging and festival screening, all
entries should meet the following criteria:
    a) Entries MUST be accompanied by one polyboxed DVD-R NTSC
(Region 1 coded), which will be used for adjudication purposes.
    b) Entries must also include a tape copy of the master. In order of
    preference, videotape formats must be:
    HD-D5 HDTV
    DVC Pro
    HDCam HDTV
    HDV
    Digital Betacam (525)
    DVCam (525)
    Betacam SP NTSC
    MiniDV NTSC
Digital Betacam 625 and Betacam SP PAL/SECAM will
not be accepted. Due to reproduction issues, MiniDV
    format is LEAST preferred.
    c) Film entries must be 35mm or 16mm with OPTICAL or
    MAGNETIC sound (no double band).
    d) Production attributes should conform to typical broadcast
    standards and include:
    • 90 seconds of leader which include black, SMPTE colour bars
and black with either 0 dbvu (analogue) or –20dbFS (digital)
    audio tone reference signals.
    • Please remove commercial blacks and include a production
slate prior to the program start.
    • 7.5 IRE Pedestal Black (preferred for NTSC).
    • Maximum 105% IRE peak whites.
    • Program start commences on the time-code hour.
    • Program tail of two minutes of black.
    • Digital content should be submitted with 48K audio and have
peak whites that do not exceed 105% IRE.

  • Using Muse for professional designing?

    hi everyone
i'm new to the web design world, and i've came across Muse just this week while browsing for web design apps.
Seems like its a good place to start.
My question is, would it be really 'ok' if someone made website professionally with the help of Muse? I dont really know how to explain this, so i'll try my best.
Lets say the website looks great, functions as needed etc etc, so aesthetically and functionality are as client wants.
But if the client comes to know that it was not done by coding, but rather by using an aiding program, wouldnt that make you look less professional?
I think its a bit like driving a manual transmission car vs an auto. When its manual it automatically gives you the impression that the driver must be better
(which is not the case, since i myself drive both but prefer auto for pure commodity) but maybe the comparison helps you understand better what i mean.
    thnks

It all depends on what the client needs, and the budget. A lot of small businesses don't need much more than a "brochure-ware" style web site. Muse is fine for that. There's lots of widgets and templates online to take care of many visual tricks or other important tasks.
Sites that have to do more complex things, like have php scripts auto-generate pages from a database and perhaps even tie that into an online store, will have to be developed with a lot of code writing.
I'm a graphic designer, not a computer programmer. But I'm trying to learn more and more about coding with HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, etc. just to improve my own skill sets. Lots of "graphic designer" job listings all call for competence in writing code. If a person is going to be self-employed as a web designer, he'll have to master coding at some point pretty quickly.

  • Using tables for my design

I cannot put anything in the middle, unless i use ap div
which i dont want 2 use because there handy but cr@p.
    refer to my site,

  • How to make a transparent background for logo

I've tried creating a transparent backgound for a logo in Photoshop CS4 in numerous ways such as saving the file as a png and using the magic wand (text resolution was very poor) but neither worked. My logo has text and an image.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I saved the file as a png and the background was not transparent--that is, it retained the white background. Please see the attached image for the pgn settings. In additon to a low resolution web version, I need to save a high resolution version for print.

  • I am relatively new to lightroom although i have been using photoshop for many years.

after opening, developing and copying a selected image, i make selections in the print section but when i try to print to my 2880, the program indicates in the upper left of the screen that it is in progress, then completed, but then invariably, lightroom quits without printing.  If i instead during my developing continue with editing in photoshop and print from there, i have no problem.  What am i doing wrong to force lightroom to quit ??     hope for some help,     owlbird

i am editing my own question by adding that in the last 8 hours i find that if i select my image from " collections" rather than from the folders, It works in the print section   ! BUT although i can size it and add my title, whenever i
request a watermark and try to print , it still quits.    Is this wierd, ???I am using  MAC OS X.
