Any caveats for importing 2.0 applications to a 3.1 installation?

I have 2 applications that were developed on HTMLDB 2.0. I want to import them onto a machine running Apex 3.1. Additionally I plan on importing 3 schemas into the Apex 3.1 instance from the oracle instance connected to HTMLDB 2.0. Can anyone explain the steps I would need to take to import the applications?

Just an update - it was because of the version difference, iTunes will not allow you to restore a 4.x backup to a 3.x phone. Once I upgraded to version 4.x again the backup re-appeared in iTunes and it allowed me to restore the backup.

Can I setup a short cut for opening an specific application? Just in the same way when we open Documents or Application Folders?

It can be opened by another person if they simply navigate to the Applications folder: unless you only allow them access to a separate account with Parental Controls in place (they can limit access to specified applications). And it's never wise to allow other people access to your own account.
If you want to open an application on a keystroke you will need a third-party application. QuicKeys can do just about anything but is expensive: there are other programs which can do this.

Any FAQs for importing analog video?

I have a lot of analog tape from a old Sony 8mm camcorder that I'd like to take digital. Any FAQs out there for this? Any recommendations about hardware that will integrate smoothly with iMovie? I'll be using the G5 iMac running 10.4.7 for the project. I imported a lot of digital stuff from a newer camcorder recently into iMovie 3 on this computer, and it worked flawlessly.

Any recommendations for an automated backup application?

Hi,
A company that I work for is looking for an automated back up solution.
Currently, they have Intel iMacs running 10.4.10. They want to have automated backups to their Windows server. The protocol used is Samba, if I am not mistaken. They do not want to back up their entire hard drives, only certain files.
The dot mac Backup application is not what they want.
I am not familiar with automated back up solutions in an office environment.
Any recommendations are appreciated!

I'm not sure if they want to spend the money on an Enterprise level solution, but if they do then there's one outstanding product: BRU.
If they are looking for something mainly client oriented but that can backup to a network device then my choice is Synchronize! Pro X because it provides an almost complete backup solution. About the only thing it cannot do is backup across multiple optical media. It supports backup to network devices and will even mount a network device if required. It also supports a fairly easy method of creating backup sets consisting of selected files and/or folders.

Any solution for importing archived songs from HDD?

My old laptop was stolen and I just purchased new PowerMac G5. Back when I imported my CD library (over 700 titles) I have made a backup of the created m4a's onto a HDD. I wanted to import the archived songs into iTunes, but after the "Adding Songs" Processing has completed - no sings were imported. I tried even the old version of iTunes (4 - the same as I've used to generate the m4a's) but the same result - I can't see any songs imported into my library. I tried copying the files onto the local HDD - same results. I tried another PowerBook - same...
There sure must be some way other then re-importing the whole library again...
Any suggestions will be much appreciated...

welcome to the Apple Discussions .. bad luck with old laptop ... can you see these files on the HDD ? ... if so use the Finder and drag them to your desktop 1st and then add them to iTunes.

Goto the attributes of the FM, in the application toolbar select <b>EDIT -> Interface -> Globalize Paramter</b>. This problem won't come if you do this.

Application for importing videos from a digital camera

I have a Canon PowerShot SD100 that I got a year and a half ago. It came with a CD that included software that could be used to import both the pictures and videos it took. However, after installing it, the CD got lost, probably ended up in the trash, and now I have no way to import the videos onto my new computer. (I use iPhoto for the pictures.)
Canon doesn't have a version of that same software, called ImageBrowser, available for download, and I've looked on my computer, but I can't seem to find any application that I could use to import the videos.
If anyone knows of a free application that would let me import my videos, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I don't use any software for importing videos from my camera I take the memory card out the camera. I insert it into my card reader. The memory card mounts on my desktop I can then drag and drop the movies from the card into my movies folder.

Any direct installer for Lightroom? Adobe Application Manager crashes every time (Mac OS 10.9.4)

I'm trying to migrate from Aperture to Lightroom. Needless to say the existing help documentation assumes the installer software doesn't crash!

Username and password for imported application

Hi,
I'm using webspace at apex.oracle.com for testing my application with apex 4.1.1.
My application was build with apex 2.0 at my local PC.
I have successfully uploaded and installed my application.
But now I can't login to my application, neither with my account as the
administrator nor with my imported account as the developer of my
application.
There is no problem logging in with my administrator account and creating
a new application. But that doesn't help.
Can I reset the password? Can I pass the application to another user,
i.e. the workspace administrator?
Creating a new user with the name of the old developer doesn't help.
Any suggestions?

No, I was never asked to upgrade the application.
Because I was unsure, I repeated the import of my application.
I have been asked if I want to change the application id.
I decided to set a new app id by apex automatically.
Now I have a second app with another id but the same content and the same problem.
a. I have made no decisions.
Now I checked a new way:

Security
Authentication Schemes
I see:
Edit     DATABASE               No Authentication (using DAD)
Edit     DATABASE ACCOUNT - Current     Database Accounts
Edit     HTML DB                    Application Express Accounts
I can click "Edit", under "Name" select a "Scheme Type" and I here can change
from "Database Accounts" to "No Authentication (using DAD)".
Now I can start my application. Everything is fine, except security I guess.
Now again I changed "DATABASE ACCOUNT - Current" to
"Application Express Accounts" and I can login with my Apex account.
That´s what I want. Great!

The audio is there. I've watched it in VLC, and the audio is there. Whenever I import the footage, though, it goes missing. Any ideas for how to fix it?

This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes" This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. I have not installed any new burning softeware. I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

I installed EP6 SP 13 with KMC and configure collaboration feature.
I tested application sharing and It works.
Then, I found problem.
Problem is that application sharing server doesn't support 1400x1050 display resolution. (only works till 1280x1024)
Is there any idea for solving this issue ?

I'm afraid this screen resolution is not yet supported. The official supported screen resolution is 1024x768 ! but as you stated it <b>can</b> work wit 1280x1024. You could open an OSS ticket and ask the KM Development for plans on supporting higher resolutions in application sharing and let us also know.
