Any Cell Menu Tutorials out there?

Hey All -
All is well but I'm trying to learn about the Cell Menu. No problems, but I haven't stressed this rig yet (ran ATTO on my Crucial RealSSD 128G though - right on spec)
Beyond my most pressing question - why (I think) my timings are reported as 7-7-7-19 instead of 9-9-9-24 - I'm looking for a site, a white paper, a guru-for-hire - anything that I can use to learn about the Cell Menu.
There's a ton of info on overclocking of course, but nothing like a general "here's how to read the Cell Menu."
Any thoughts on where to learn in-depth about the Cell Menu?
Thanks guys!

Hey HU - thanks for the reply. Yes it's interesting to me, I put the Uncore Freq to 10 and tested with Everest, and for some reason my RAM times all dropped back to what they were with CR set to 2T (even though I did set it back to 1T).
So I went back, changed Uncore Freq to Auto and now I'm back on top of every category.
Anyway, I guess it's like the articles say re: OC'ing and BIOS settings: "your mileage may vary."
My Uncore Freq runs at 2400MHz on Auto and 2600MHz on 10. I assumed the faster rate would perform better but Everest seems to like the Auto setting better.
Eventually I'll post in the OC'ing forum once I understand these relationships a bit more - Uncore Freq, Mem Ratio, etc.
btw, is Everest a "legit" benchmarking program? I read tech sites and most don't use it in their reviews very often. But it's the only one I've got right now, that and ATTO.
Thanks again for your help HU!
Shoot - I just noticed Task Mngr is only seeing 8G or RAM instead of 12G.
weird because the Everest tests were great - tops in almost every category, and Everest (and CPU-Z) report 12G installed. Everest shows 12G but on the Usage section it's only showing 8G.
I tried putting the Uncore Ratio back to 10 and still only 8G. Tried Auto again, only 8G.
I may just go back to the default 1066 clock - Everest gave me the best results with that.
Unless there are other ideas perhaps...? I'd like to be running the RAM to spec - I guess. Although maybe I should rethink that - I'm getting better test results with the "slower" clock and faster timings. (defaulted to 7-7-7-19 1T @533MHz).
I suppose all this has very little real-world impact anyway...(?)
thanks you guys!

  • Any good workflow tutorials out there for those moving from iPhoto Aperture

Any good workflow tutorials out there for those moving from iPhoto to Aperture 3?
Especially those that deal with using a laptop and off-line storage of photos.
    Cheers, Andrew.

There is no reason to not port a number from another provider (unless leaving a contract early and being charged the ETF) for if one does decide to switch back to their previous provider within the first 30 days after making the switch, the previous provider will take one back with welcome arms and the same phone number can be used this way.
Your way required getting a new phone number which can't be changed or potted after the fact for single line account.

Any Drum & Bass producers out there?
I'm trying to find the perfect bassline sound like the one bad company (drum & bass group) uses in "The Nine" and "4 Days". The basslines are basically full and warm with fuzzy modulation.
I've tried Atmosphere, Trilogy, NI Photone, and ES2-so far and there are some okay stuff in there but doesn't quite make the cut. Just wondering if there are any other virtual instruments I could check out or if there are any tutorials on how to program your own.

Check how many applications are starting when you log in, I found that if there was a lot of activity at login Finder did not display the icons on the desktop correctly, again like you it did not occur at every login, just occasionally.
For Safari have you tried resetting Safari, if that does not help you could disable plugins and extensions one at a time. You may find one of those is causing the problem.

  • My PC doesn't recognise my iPhone6, any trustworthy driver downloads out there?

My PC doesn't recognise my iPhone6, any trustworthy driver downloads out there?

Well, did you try on different USB ports ..? Once you connect your device in to PC, then unlock the device screen and see if device asks "trust this PC." or not.
As i said "try to use a different USB ports." Or, USB cable is the original one, right ?
If you run any antivirus softwares, disable it then. Besides, check the internet firewall enabled or not.
If iTunes does not recognize your device, then you do need to uninstall iTunes and then re-install it.

  • Any Better EMail Program Out There for Macs?

I used Eudora as my email program for 10 years and loved it. Unfortunately, it became very buggy on the Snow Leopard operating system. Entire mail boxes got corrupted. So, I had to find a new mail program. I was told that Apple Mail was the best and have been struggling to have it meet my needs for the past few weeks.
Is there any other program available out there that is more like Eudora, but still supported with a new version for Snow Leopard - or at least an be run on this operating system?
    Thanks!

IMHO, Mail is the best. It will take a lot of getting used to for someone migrating from Eudora, though. I used to use Eudora as well, but gave it up years ago in favor of Mail.
Thunderbird will have some features that Mail lacks, but in turn lacks a lot of the polish and some very basic features that Mail has. For example, my wife was trying just two days ago to send a message to a subset of a group defined in Thunderbird's address book, and after ten minutes of both of us trying to figure it out, we finally gave up and she used _pen and paper_ to note the addresses. Doing this would have been trivial in Mail. These sorts of little not-uncommon niggling issues would prevent me from ever using Thunderbird myself.
You could also try [MailSmith|http://www.mailsmith.org>, which was a pretty compelling mail client once upon a time, but which I haven't looked at in many years.

  • Any iPhone Application Developers out there?

    Hi All-
Any accepted iPhone Developers out there? I'm looking to partner with someone to create an application that would be a huge benefit for users of the iPhone. If accepted into the App Store, this app would be a great utility for all users. I'm not a developer and would love to find someone willing to work on this little idea.
    Thanks
    Dave

As others have expressed in this forum, I have a concern working at a defense company where cameras are not allowed. As cool as the iPhone is, I would not want to be fired for if Security discovers me with it!
I have read in other posts about people who have had the camera hardware removed for a fee, but this seems like a costly, extreme solution with the risk of breaking it and voiding the warranty.
If there are any iPhone application developers out there looking for something to do, it seems like it would be simple to develop a utility that would temporarily disable or enable the camera in a way that could be easily demonstrated to a security guard.
Are there any takers out there? Can this be done?
The camera cannot be turned off. Even if it could, the fact that it still has a lens isn;t going to stop security from stopping you.

  • Any good lab setups out there?

I've been tinkering with my desktop lab, a nested workstation running vsphere instances, virtual center, iscsi, etc....
I'm kind of stuck though, I want to do some labs, but there's not really any out there that seem to be interesting, without being a "pay for" lab book. Any ideas?

  • Are there any web-based products out there for client project and interaction...

    Dear Web Designers,
Is there any open source, free, php software packages out there (or web products - a doc com tool) that allows a web designer freelancer (like me) who has their own business to take in client requests or new project request descriptions and requests from anyone and allow me to respond back with an answer, a timeline, status on the project etc etc. (besides just a standard contact us form - is there any project managment tool for web designers that works well for that?)
    Andrew

Sure.  There are lots & lots of them.  It depends on your coding skills, which scripts and databases your server supports, and how many bells & whistles you want.

  • Any ipod touch cases out there for me?

I've been all over the internet looking for the perfect case for my 1st gen ipod touch. I've seen some really stylish looking skins, but I want the protection of a silicone or hard case (I think I'm more partial to silicone). Can I have both style and durability? Does anybody have any recommendations?

I ordered mine from ivyskin.com. (they make cases for iPods & iPhones) It's a hard case that completely encapsulates the entire unit, including a thin plastic cover over the touch screen to protect it from scratches. It's sleek design is lightweight and the clear case makes it almost an "invisible" shield.
At around $30 it's comparably priced with all the other cases out there.

  • Any Patient Tracking Program out there?

Does anyone know if there is any simple patient tracking program out there?
Functions that will be needed is patients demographic information, name ,age, sex, number of times they visited, patient number visits in a single day, as well as a way to bill them and invoice upon visit.

If there is nothing specific you can research FileMaker Pro for any ready made forms they might have that would be similar in nature to what you want.

  • Are there any reliable training providers out there?

I'm looking to take training (preferably with certification) in Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services and would like some recommendations as to credible training
organisations in the UK? Haven't got any experience with training providers so any advice would be appreciated.

    Hey Steven
Course there is, you will find out that there are good and bad training providers out there, to get the most out of training I would recommend looking at practical based courses when you are searching for courses. A credible one I would recommend to you
from past experience  is Aardvark Training and Consulting. From looking at their site they deliver the exact course that you are looking for.
    Here's a link for you

  • Are there any downloadable games still out there for 2nd Generation iPod?

I am searching for games that will download on an older iPod. Purchased two 2nd generation iPods on Ebay and am having trouble getting any games that are compatabile. Are there any still out there. Purchased these for 2 grandchildren. Help. Not only are there games, how do I download them. Can I do it from my computer? Can't find any in the app store on the iPod itself or have I just not looked hard enough.

They are there, but it's not easy to find these days.  At least your iPod touch can run iOS 4.2.  My old original iPhone can only run up to iPhone OS 3.1.3...
I used to be able to go into an app category in iTunes (on the computer), and sort the listing by release date, newest to oldest.  Then, I could go to the end of the list, and the older apps/games would be the ones that worked with the older hardware and iOS versions.  However, this method does not seem to work well anymore.  The lists do not appear to go back far enough, so the apps at the end of the list are still fairly new.
I found an app recently.  It's called VintApps.  You can go to the App Store using iTunes on the computer and search for it.  It costs 99 cents.  I can set it to "filter" based on iOS limitation (and other factors).  I can then browse in app categories (in the app), and it shows me lists based on the criteria.  Selecting an app from the list provides its description.  This lets me find apps that work with 3.1.3 (or 4.2 in your case)
Because older devices are slower (with a small screen), what I do is use VintApps on my iPhone to find something that looks interesting.  Then, I use iTunes on my Mac to find that app in the App Store.  If it looks good, I get it there (using my computer's iTunes) and sync it to my iPhone.
