I am new to sap bw sem - bps? can any one share me docs nor url nor pdf? . how to learn and what is the significance of sem any recommended books?

Doc to PDF conversion failed for Acrobat 9 on IIS7/win 2008 system

I wanted to convert a doc to PDF. But getting error when PDF distiller initialized.
Error : 006~ASP 0177~Server.CreateObject Failed~80080005
at statement : Set Obj = server.CreateObject("PdfDistiller.PdfDistiller.1")
This is done is classic ASP.
This works perfectly fine on IIS6/win 2003 with Acrobat 5 . but getting error on production server where IIS7/win 2008,Acrobat 9 is installed.
I have added all the necessary permissions.
What could be the problem?

But the same thing is working fine for Acrobat distiller 5 on IIS 6 and Win 2003.
With Acrobat 5,printer installed is called Acrobat Distiller and with Acrobat 9, printer installed is called Adobe PDF. This should not affect the distiller functionality/execution I think.
Manual Doc to PDF conversion works, means if document is passed to Adobe PDf it converts the doc to PDF.
Somehow automation is not working failing at statement
Set oDistiller = CreateObject("PDFDistiller.PDFDistiller.1")
Could there be case that Acrobat 9 doesn't support automation or need license or so?

Go to SA38 / SE38 and put this program name RSTXPDFT4 and then give the path where you have to save the PDF file and execute.
Provide the spool request number. You can get your spool request number via SP01 / SP02

Using iPhone as Storage for any docs

Does anyone know how can I user iphone as storage device? I had motorola phone with 8 gigs mem card, where I could drag any docs (word, excell or any pics and music) I know it's pain here already with all the podcasts that I downloaded to transfer to a different PC, how can I transfer Word docs?

You mean you want to be able to take work files from one computer, upload them to the iPhone, then download them another, different computer? Just making sure I understand what you want to do.
I do not know of any universal file transfer app like that, other than using some cloud-type storage perhaps as a go between computer(s) and iPhone.
For MSOffice docs specifically, there is QuickOffice, which allows editing of MSOffice documents on the iPhone. QO transfers files between computer and the iPhone via an embedded (in the app on the iPhone) wifi web server. You enable the file transfer web server on the iPhone, and then connect via a URL in a web browser on any computer you wish that is on the same wifi subnet. Once the web page loads on the computer, you can upload or download files to/from the iPhone.
Because of the app compartmentalization of the iOS, the office files on the iPhone would only be accessible from within QuickOffice.

It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):

i have written a program to calculate word frequency from the text file,
can any one tell me how can i make this program work for .doc and .pdf file.
i dont want to use POI for .doc.

Is there any way to set the default for *.doc document so that Pages opens them automatically?

I have a number of Ms Word documents because I used to have Word for Mac before the last OS release. Now, of course, when I double-click on them, I get a message saying that PowerPC isn't supported.
Now Pages will open these files. Is there any way to change the default for *.doc files so that a double-click will open them in Pages?
(Instead of me going to the trouble of finding out where they are actually located on the hard drive so that I can open pages and say - here, open this file--even though you didn't create it--)

Click on a .doc file and type Cmnd I to open Get Info. In the Open with: menu select Pages, then click on Change All…

Convert doc to PDF and make it available for workspace

Hi,
is there a way, how to convert a doc file to PDF file and make it available for the workspace (accept - deny scenario)?
Lets say, that I have a contract that has to be approved by my manager. I convert the doc to PDF file and send it to his to-do queue. He than decides if it is a good agreement or bad one.
I see couple of tricks in this. First, the converted file needs to have process fields included, so it has to be a form.
Converted file is a flat PDF. I tried to use DDX to merge flat PDF and form with process fields, however that throwed and error.
Workaround could be creating an envelope saying, hey, look in the attachments section, there is something you need to review.
I can create an attachment in the form with DDX code, however only in the DDX UI interface, for some reason, it wont work in the process in LC.
Also, I have difficulties with routes after user hits the accept, deny buttons in workspace, nothing happens :-(
Could you please give me some advices, what kind of variables I need, what types they should be and how the process should looklike? I want to invoke it over the WSDL so at least one document has to be passed over it. The envelope can be in the resources section in LC (makes sense, but I do not know how to address it in the DDX and afterwards)

Hi Jasmin,
I can add the converted document to PDF as a attachment to the XDP form in the workspace.
I am strugling now with that envelope (the XDP), cant render it to PDF and than workspace enable it. I will have a look around the web because it will be there. One question is can I control permitions on the attachment? I want just read only permitions.

Is there any Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator for PS EXPERTS?

There seems to be a lot of question about this product with no answers. When you call Adobe you get the run around.
How is the product supposed to work?
When a basic installation is performed it does not do what is expected.
If you are suppose to be able to create Postscript files or drop Office documents in a watch folder or email them to the server and it converts them. Why does it not work? These are the basic function not a lot of development required. The only files that are converted are .PS and then it appends .PDF to the end of it. (test.ps.pdf) if fails on all office documents with an "Error Code: 11,020 Reason: The source file you submitted is not supported by this version of PDF Generator. If this product does not support this function then why did the installation require you to install Office before the Livecycle product is installed?

Weblocation url for any content is erroring out

I have installed ECM in Linux with Oracle HTTP server (apache) & Oracle database 10gR2. In the content information for any content, the web location url is displayed like: http://http://servername:7778/.... there is an extra http:// in the beginning of the url. I have already checked the following files:
<CS_INSTALL>/config/config.cfg
<CS_INSTALL>/admin/config/config.cfg
Not able to resolve this issue. Appreciate any help in resolving this issue. Thanks.

Resolved this issue by removing http:// from the HttpServerAddress in config.cfg
