Any edits in Acrobat 9.5 cause error (109)

Good Afternoon,
I'm not sure what has changed recently, but a large part of my firm has started experiencing error (109) whenever they attempt to save after editing a pdf document. Most of them are on 9.5.5, a few are on 9.5.3.
My first advisement was to print the document to PDF and save that to their desktop in order to maintain their changes so they could then reupload to Sharepoint or bring the file into a binder in Engagement (accounting software), assuming some sort of interaction with the network was causing the error. However, that didn't make the error (109) go away. Even files that were printed to pdf and saved on the desktop cannot be edited and resaved on the desktop without that error reoccuring.
If it was one or two users, I'd suspect a rogue program of some sort was causing incompatibility issues, but it's getting into the low 30s now and I'm hoping to get this solved.
Thanks

Excellent suggestions Lori. We're unable to use Pro to troubleshoot at the moment, but we were able to see that all the files are generated by the same program under the description tab (GoSystems). I'm currently running through some test with my users to figure out how these documents are being saved.
We've narrowed the behavior to any deletion produces the Error (109) upon saving. This could be pages or even edits added during the same session. If any item is deleted, then saving the document will produce the error. Strangely enough, opening the document, doing save-as before any work is done, then overwriting the document with itself removes this behavior and the file behaves appropriately.
I'll let you know if any other problems crop up in Acrobat related to this issue, but for now it appears to be another companies template/print behavior + user issue.
Thank you.

Are you running updates from the Help menu in Acrobat or by downloading the updates. When you have problems, it is probably best to try running the updates as downloads from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. You will need to generally install the updates in order. You would reboot after the last update.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro causes an error when starting it - Adobe Acrobat has stopped working. How do I resolve this?

I've had Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for some time, but yesterday it stopped working and I started having an 'Adobe Acrobat has stopped working' error. It then tells me to Close the Program.
    How do I resolve this?
    Thanks and regards
    Roxanne

Thanks Pat. I was able to resolve the problem.
OS is Windows 7 Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.07.
I went into the Properties file where I identified that Users only had Read & Execute and Read properties, I changed properties for Everyone to Full Control. That fixed the problem.
I don't know how the properties got changed to just Read & Execute, but there had been an automatic update the night before.

  • Applying a signature to Acrobat 9 Pro cause it to close.

Whenever I try to apply a signature to a PDF it causes Acrobat I get an error window that reads, "The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read"". Acrobat then closes and when I re-open it and try to work on the same document if I click on the signature I get another message stating that the signature, "contains incorrect, unrecognized, corrupt, or suspicious data, support information: SigDict/content ilegal data". The certs on the user's PKI are good, and are the same ones that are in the signature. Any ideas? Thanks.

I see you have the TerraGo Toolbar installed in your image
I have found that the TerraGo Toolbar conflicts when trying to digitally sign a PDF file - I have not figured out why.
The only solution I have so far is to uninstall the TerraGo Toolbar.

  • Deleting iMovie files & exported movies causes errors in all of iLife

I just went through quite an ordeal...
In an attempt to clean up some space, I deleted a bunch of my iMovie project files and movies after backing them up (files in the default Movies folder). I have deleted iMovie projects before with no issues.
This time, it caused errors in iDVD, iMovie, and iPhoto...it would say: "Connection failed. The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again." It would say this over and over and over again and often completely hang up my application so that I would have to force quit. This would repeat itself over and over...
I read about this in other forums and erased .plist files in User > Library, etc...This solved the problem for other people, but it kind of made it worse for me. Long story short, I ended up having to restore from Time Machine my entire system just to get iLife working again... I also searched for Aliases and externally referenced libraries or files, and I do not have any.
So now I have those files again. I want to delete them again. But I'm afraid! (P.S. This may also be related to deleting the Aperture Trial Library in the Photos folder...I am also posting about that to the Aperture forum.)
Does anyone know what the deal with this is? How come before I did not have problems but am now? How do I safely delete iMovie files without having this happen again?
    THANK YOU!

iMovie is a non-destructive editor, meaning that all original clips are maintained in the folder, even after editing. Until you render the movie to DVD, all the original files are still "in the background". Kind of hard for me to explain. Others here could give more technical details. You would have to delete your movie from the folder to regain all the hard drive space.
If your idea is to archive your movies, a better method is to record them back to tape. Otherwise, get an external drive to store the finished movies and then delete the original files.
One word of caution about emptying the iMovie trash. This has been known to cause problems with a work in progress and it is generally advised to leave the iMovie trash alone until your project is finished and burned to a DVD.

I've tried an uninstall and re-install of both apps, cleared media cache, have plenty of memory.  Doesn't seem to have any reason to not work.  It will export just fine, but will not allow any edits, or even simple playback.

  • When editing DHCP Scope in IPAM, get "Error: 5 - Access is denied"

    Hello all!
I have a pair of Server 2012 DHCP servers configured for Failover.  I also have a Server 2012 IPAM server that manages the first server in that pair, but not the second one.  The reason is that I have the DHCP Failover Auto Config Sync tool running
on the first server and it can only be installed on one server of a Failover pair.
So, my diagram would look something like this:
    IPAM --manages--> DHCP 1 <--Failover/Auto Sync--> DHCP 2
So, here is my problem.  I can make a change to a DHCP Scope directly on DHCP 1 and it is instantaneously replicated to DHCP 2.  That is no problem.
But, when I try to edit the same Scope through IPAM, it fails and returns the following error: (Error:5 - Access is denied.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
One of our service engineers here was able to reproduce the problem by removing the
IPAM computer account from the IPAMUG security group in Active Directory.
Interestingly, doing this does not change the status of the server from green to red in terms of manageability.
Can you please check and see if this is the problem?
    Thanks,
    -Greg
P.S. If this is not the problem, please answer a few more questions:
Is the IPAM and DHCP server joined to the same domain?
Are they multihomed servers or have only one NIC?
Are you using the same user account on IPAM and DHCP server?
Note: I tried reproducing this and when the IPAM server is removed from the IPAMUG group it does cause Error 5 - Access is denied, however I was able to get the status to turn red after doing this. I think it is critical that an Active Directory update
occur, so you should try running gpupdate /force on your DC, DHCP server, and IPAM server.

  • AcroMissingCompWClass Acrobat.exe Bad Image error message

Hi, I have a Windows 7 PC and InDesign, IIustrator CS4. When I try to print I get AcroMissingCompWClass Acrobat.exe Bad Image error message. Has anyone come across this?

My Acrobat 9 Pro freezes constantly. Seeing a pdf inside mutiple browser is not possible. Most of the time Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat Reader X starts within 5 min! As soon as I do anything, the top bar that shows "File", "Edit" etc. dissapears and averything freezes! Security software with possible firewalls I've uninstalled. Un- and re-installing Acrobat doesn't change anything. I'm using MS Windows XP, running Adobe CS4. Making any pdf's is no problem. I just can't see them. I can open a pdf inside Illustrator but that goes page by page. Any help?

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Reinstallation Errors

My hard drive crashed on my computer (replaced with new one) and I had to reinstall my Adobe CS5 and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. All of CS5 reinstalled fine. However, everytime I reinstall Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it errors every time. It will install, but whenever you open the program, it immediately stops working and errors out saying Adobe Acrobat 9.3 stopped working. Windows cannot find a solution and then closes.
It never gives me the chance to enter my product key or register the product. I went to the Adobe Product page and tried downloading and installing all the updates, but nothing works. No matter what I do it closes right away. Any ideas?
My PC is on Windows 7 - I had to initially install Acrobat on this PC when I got it a year or so ago and it worked fine. Not sure what's changed.
    Thanks.

I just tried reinstalling it - again, it wasnt giving me the option to register it or anything. Would close the minute I opened Acrobat.
So I opened the Acrobat Distiller that installed with Acrobat and that asked me to accept the agreement and register the product. Once I did that - Acrobat started working again!
