Any Experience w/ Brand X FM Transmitters?

I have 2 different Brands and types of FM tranmitters that plug into the bottom connector of my iPhone. They were advertised to work with both ipods and the iPhone.
Alas, the music keeps playing on the speaker and doesn't transmit. The charging part works though.
Has anyone else had any positive or negative experiences with this type of transmitter?
My 3rd older one that fits into the hadphone jack works fine.

I went to the Apple Store and they told me that there wasn't a cord that would allow me to play my music from my iPhone to my car stereo.
So...
I bought an iPod because I wanted my music in my car.
I also bought this Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for my iPod as well. I found a radio station and it worked perfectly.
I thought to myself, why not try to hook my iPhone up to that cable and see if it worked.
Well it did and so I took my iPod back and now am able to use my iPhone in my car using the Kensington cord!!
Here is the link to that cord:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=F92 F7BFD&nplm=TD145LL/A
It just goes into your cigarette lighter and then you set a radio station on the cord and then tune onto the radio station on your car.
Hope that helps,
Sam
P.S.- Your iPhone is going to tell you that the product is not compatible with the iPhone and would like to know if you want to put it into airplane mode.
Well just select "NO" and then your phone will work like normal and play your music through your speakers and it will still be able to receive calls while listening to your music, the music will just fade out while you are driving and allow you to answer your call and then once you are done, continue playing your song right where it left off.

  • Any experience with Apple fixing Iphone just after warranty has expired

My iPhone has just past a year old, actually it's now 54 Weeks since I purchased it. The Touch Screen has just stopped working, it was fine, I went to unlock it and it didn't respond. I've now reset, restored etc and the touch part of the screen is just dead.
Has anyone had any experience getting Apple to fix a phone after the warrenty has expired? The touch screen seems to be a common problem with the phone, and it renders it completly useless and if just happens to fail just after the warranty has expired the only option is to pay for a brand new phone, or use the $199 service option.

Call iPhone support or talk to a genius at an apple store. If it is an issue that is really common they might make an exception to the warranty. Can't hurt to ask if you have the time to wait on hold.

iTunes update 11.0.2. (loaded automatically in the background and signaled in the App Store symbol is delivering failure 103 if I try to install it - any experience how to fix it?

Try just downloading and installing from the Support site - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1614 - instead of the Mac App Store.

  • 5300 RAM showing up as 3200 in Quad, any experience with this problem?

Hello, just received a 2 gig kit for my G5 Quad (2 - 1 gig sticks from Crucial). System Profiler shows it's speed at 3200, lower than the original 512 RAM which is 4200. Crucial says it will only reach 4200, but why is the new RAM showing up at 3200? Tried removing original RAM and only using the new, same speed displayed - 3200.
Has anyone had any experience with this oddity? Any idea if the RAM is not performing or the Mac is not giving accurate speed data?
    Thanks, Steve

Memory identified as PC2600 in MDD
    Symptom
Apple Hardware Test identifies the computer's memory as "PC2600" rather than "PC2700".
    Products affected
    * Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors)
    * Apple Hardware Test version 1.2.6
    Solution
There is nothing wrong with your computer's memory. This issue is addressed in Apple Hardware Test 1.2.7. If you have version 1.2.6 and are experiencing this issue, contact AppleCare for a replacement disc.
Apple is aware of that. It first showed up in 10.3.0 and has been there ever since. The issue with the above DDR2 is I think different and unique.
With the MDD, Apple used Micron in the system I got, and I added Crucial. Both show up as '2600.'

The RS480M2-IL haa a CnQ option in Bios.
Installing the AMD driver and setting the Power Scheme to "Minimal Power Management" in Power Options is required to enable CnQ in XP.

Check how many applications are starting when you log in, I found that if there was a lot of activity at login Finder did not display the icons on the desktop correctly, again like you it did not occur at every login, just occasionally.
For Safari have you tried resetting Safari, if that does not help you could disable plugins and extensions one at a time. You may find one of those is causing the problem.

  • Question:  Do I need to run and anti virus program with MAC OSX Lion? Have heard different opinions! If so what would you recommend? Was looking at Sophos. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Do I need to run and anti virus program with MAC OSX Lion? Have heard different opinions!
You will continue to hear different opinions here, where thoughts range everywhere between "anti-virus software is the evil spawn of Satan" to "anyone not running anti-virus software is a fool."
Truth is, this is still a very personal decision on a Mac. Depending on circumstances, it is still very easily possible to stay safe without using anti-virus software, but circumstances and personal preferences vary widely. Besides which, anti-virus software cannot even remotely provide you a guarantee of protection!
To learn how to stay safe (with or without anti-virus software), and how to decide whether to use anti-virus software, see my Mac Malware Guide.

Has anyone had any experience using 'MacKeeper'?

I am afraid its worsen then THAT!!. I bought two licences from those fraud spammers, liftetime with "satisfaction or moneyback guarentee".
Both my Imac and MacPro kept crashing after installing it. All the helpdesk from zeobit did for me was sending me mails i should re-install osx and mackeeper.
When that didnt help, the gave in. I asked my money back, as in the guarentee. Thet denied flat out. "Sir this is not OUR software causing the problem, but OSX. Go there with your complained!"
Alsoo there newsletter......i UNLISTED 9 times now and still i get 5-8 spam mails a week.

  • Any experience with logitech v400 cordless laser mouse?

I'm still looking for a good mouse, either bluetooth or USB-cordless for my iBook. I recently learnt that Logitech has a new notebook mouse: logitech v400. If anyone has experience with this mouse I would appreciate hearing their findings.
    thanx, Frank
    iMac G5 1800 mHz & iBook 12' (1,33 mHz, 60 GB) Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Nick it's a USB. I have the MX1000. As I told Frank I really don't have any experience with the others so I couldn't really say. I went from the Apple one button to an Microsoft Intellimouse. I realized I liked all those buttons. A lot! So when I decided on getting a wireless I wanted one that had plenty of buttons!
The MX1000 had just came out and was getting real good reviews and I checked one out and liked it so I asked Santa for it last year and I must've been a good boy because my wife.... I mean Santa brought me one.
I would imagine you could check into exactly what feature each one has and find one you like.
I really like the idea of never having to put batteries in it. It charges off the base/receiver. Mine usually lasts about 3 weeks between charges and it takes about 4 hrs to charge it. It has a batter meter on it so I know ahead of time when it's low and I usually just put it in the charger overnight.

  • Any experience with refurb iMacs?

    Howdy all...
Wondered if anyone here has any experience with purchasing refurbished units from the apple.com store site? There seem to be a few deals there, and they do offer applecare, just wondering if maybe that's where all the lemons end up?
Any experiences at all would be great to hear, and don't need to be limited to iMacs... just really interested in the refurb experience as a whole.
    Thanks,
    adam

I bought a refurbished BlackBook at the end of June and it arrived in absolutely perfect condition - it even smelled new.
Refurbs are a great value. You get a discount, the full one year warrantee, and the ability to extend that to three years with AppleCare. For all intents and purposes, Apple treats it like a new unit.
I have even read here about people getting "free" upgrades with refurbs. Apple advertises the base configurations and ships out whatever they have in stock. Sometimes that means a larger HD or more RAM, but do not count on it. I would hold off on ordering RAM or a larger HD until you actually receive it to see what it comes with.

  • Any experience with Object Types and Forms6i / 9i ???

Has anyone got any experience in working with Object Types and Object Views together with Forms 6i or 9i???

    Hi AnneCarmen,
    Check this small video, http://project02.businesscatalyst.com/Jing/2012-07-13_0508.swf
This is just an example where I am trying to demonstrate how the html embedded into the frame sticks to only one image and not to all the other images. Also, how to keep the thumbnails. Under menu options you can modify the transition and speed option as per your need.

  • I have paid and downloaded LION and want to update my IMAC, can i just run install and it keep photos settings etc from Snow Leopard or is a full reinstall with wiped hard drive, anyone have any experience of this and do i need to run a backup beforehand?

Always backup your important data before upgrading to a new Mac OS X.
Lion doesn't erase the drive but better to be safe than sorry.
And run Disk Utility  (Applications/Utilities). Verify and if necessary repair the startup disk before upgrading.

  • Macbook Pro with SDI in -- any experiences?

    Hi there,
Does anyone have any experience with this device which expands the ExpressCard34 slot to an external PCI?
    http://www.mobl.com/expansion/products/expresscard_expansion/index.html
It seems like a dream option for getting an SDI in for my laptop, and it can be powered by 12V batteries via XLR4.
I would want to put a Decklink or AJA card in there, preferably a Decklink 'cos they're cheaper -- primarily for capturing SD but I'd like the option to capture HD.
Has anyone tried this or have experience of a set up like this -- or can you see any pitfalls? The compatability of the device and these cards is unclear -- they haven't been tested by the company.
    Thanks for any help.

looks good, and Magma have been doing the expansion chasis thing for many years so have a good track record ... mind you, at 999 bucks a pop, its not cheap.

  • Any experience in moving Planning, BI+ to new servers?

Does anyone have any experience in moving Planning and/or BI+ to a new server?
We have all middleware services (9.3) running on 2 windows machine and Essbase server running on Solaris and need to consolidate the two windows machines into one.

Yes, it really is that simple. It's even easier if you have to upgrade the agents. I've already done this to migrate from SCOM 2007R2 to 2012R2. I stood up the new environment, imported the MPs and then ran discovery for the systems I wanted in that environment.
The new SCOM 2012R2 MG deployed/upgraded the agents and they were "dual-homed" reporting to the old 07 and the new 12 instance. After I was happy with the new 12 instance, I just removed the configs from the 07 agents and shut down the 07 management
    group.
