Any exporter developers interested in an open source plug-in project?

Most of the discussion here in the past few months has been about exporter  plug-ins, so I know there's no shortage of exporter developers on this  forum.
There is a very useful frameserver plug-in that's used to export video out to a tiny signpost file, which can then be used as an input file for other programs.  This has been a crucial part of the workflow for those using other applications for video processing or final encoding.  This exporter has been maintained and updated through CS4, but the original developer, Satish Kumar is unable to continue working on the project to update it for CS5.  So he's made his plug-in open source here:
http://code.google.com/p/frame-server/
Meanwhile, those who used it up through CS4 are voicing their interest in seeing this exporter working in CS5:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/727162?tstart=0
So if any developers are interested in contributing to a open source plug-in project, you have one waiting for you.

Just wanted to provide an update this thread - the exporter has been brought forward to CS5, thanks to some coordination between interested users that were willing to pool their donations together and pay for a developer.  Very nice to see this project taken care of!

  • Open Source Log Analyzer Project

    Hi people,
    I have a question whether there is a open source project which analyze logs from database. I mean I have a table(Log table which is like syslog message format). I need to analyze this table with a web based project. So, Do you know any open source project that do this? Thanks

    Huh? How is this question related to JSF?
    Anyway, is Google installed at your machine? After feeding it with the topic title "Open Source Log Analyzer Project", it told me here something about AWStats and SourceTree and so on. More can't I (and Google) be of help.
    You can also consider writing one yourself with help of smart coding and nice API's like JFreeChart.

  • Director 11 - Any exporter improvements?

    Now that Adobe has announced Director 11, will there be any
    improvements in the situation with modeling and animation
    applications exporting W3D? This has been a weak spot for a long
    time now. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to use
    Cinema 4D, which exports keyframe based motions just fine but not
    bones. I can't seem to use any of the great joint / skin stuff that
    MOCCA has because it doesn't survive the export. It seems as though
    3ds Max is the only really usable application, as far as i can
    tell.
    It would be great if Adobe could release and support
    exporters for the others, such as C4D, Lightwave, etc. A Blender
    exporter would be great for open source people too. If they really
    want to kickstart this thing, they need to help us get our stuff
    into W3D! IMHO
    Is anyone having any luck with character animation in
    anything but 3ds Max?

    Hi there, The cheaper option to Max is Newtek Lightwave whos
    w3D exporter
    can handle weight mapped bone animations no problem. See my
    Elfric toy for
    an example...

  • Open Source Developer

    Hi everyone,
    First post here as I'm not a Java developer, but I'm looking for help in your community. Sorry in advance if it is not the right place to post that, maybe you can redirect me if it is the case.
    I'm a flash actionscript developer and I've started an open source project some months ago.
    The project is an AS3 flash framework that is meant to be generated, this framewok is an MVC framework and manage the body of a flash site. The idea is generate the body of a flash site through settings.
    I'm working with another flash developer who is also a Java beginner. We have started to build a software with SWT. The first version is far from what I'd like to do but will be a very good start as a demo to show the potential. This first version is at the moment half done but unfortunately the other developer doesn't have a lot of time anymore.
    I can write myself a bit of java but I clearly don't have time to work on both side, Java and actionscript. I'm using already and successfully the flash framework in real projects and I still have a lot of work on the actionscript part, it makes unable to go further with the software at the moment.
    I don't know how things are working in the Java community but in the Flash one there are tons of free open source library/framework/project released. All these people are working freely on their project (probably at night as I'm doing :) ) because the're happy to face challenge, help the community and help developers to go further.
    I'm looking for one Java developer (and probably more later, as well as flash developer) interested in the project and willing to help me to finish this first version.
    The flash part is working already but not released to the public, you can contact me to join me or just to ask me more information (and see the framework and the application) or help me find someone.
    You can contact me on my blog:

    Thanks for your time.

    Sorry Romu, but this against the CoC and [Terms of use|http://www.sun.com/termsofuse.jsp#g2_1] here.

  • Flex is open source, what about adobe flash?

    Hi all,
    There is some confusion on our Flex team. We're aware of the
    Flex announcement that Adobe intends to release Flex under the MPL
    at some future date. Some of the developers on our team, however,
    believe the Adobe Flash plugin in browsers such as Mozilla are open
    source as well. After googling, I could not find any indication
    that adobe Flash is open source. We're aware of Gnash, etc, but our
    question relates specifically to Adobe Flash - is it open source or
    has there been an announcement that Adobe intends to open source
    Flash browser plugins? What, if anything, is open source concerning
    Flash?
    Thanks,
    iksrazal

    Flash will not be open source.

  • Web Dynpro for Open Source

    Dear Web Dynpro community,
    please have a look to Benny´s  blog under http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3417200ID0731044050DB00226095944409325288End?blog=/pub/wlg/16004 raising the question whether Web Dynpro Java should become Open Source.
    It would be very interesting for me to here your opinion about this. What are the benefits in doing this? What are the risks? Would YOU like to actively contribute?
    Thanks in advance
    Jochen (Product Owner Web Dynpro Java)

    Hi all,
    <p>
    let me add some comments on some parts of the answers (also in the two blogs around this topic ..).
    In general it is really interesting to see that there seems to be a real interest for an "open sources" Web Dynpro for Java. This is motivating to go into this direction and to further discuss this here within SAP.
    <p>
    Some technical comments: I agree that an open-source WDJ (in the ideal world) would include also the WDJ tools parts and most probably also UR ( = Unified rendering) as the underlying (HTML) rendering technology. Also NWDI is somehow part of this game. BUT: I do not think that such a big step is realistic and feasible. Instead of this the first natural step for me would be to open-source the WDJ runtime part. This WDJ runtime contains all important parts needed to run WDJ applications (including the control libraries, the different CMI model implementations, the different clients and last but not least the server-abstraction layer).
    <p>
    This server abstraction layer (SAL) is most probably not know by the WDJ community as this was never rolled out in the past. As the name shows this layer encapsulates the server environment "hosting" the WDJ runtime. This allows us even today to run WDJ applications besides the SAP JEE  also in top of a simple TomCat installation. This version is used for a long time for control development but was never rolled out.
    <p>
    In the labs we have WDJ application running on Amazon Cloud, on Google App Engine, on Bea and also on top of Geronimo.
    Not all of these server abstraction implementations are fully working for the moment and not all features are available for all implementations - but it would be really straightforward to provide all these implementations - in the ideal case of course via a active open source community ,-)
    <p>
    Besides the platform implementations I see some other areas how an open sourced version of WDJ could be extended:
    <p>
    The combination of WDJ projects with Maven. This is also on our internal development list but due to prios this was never started.
    New controls. Also without open-sourcing the UR layer I see a lot of potential to extend existing controls or to build completly new controls.
    "Generation-free WDJ" - the idea would be to provide a WDJ version which is not depending on a complex generation framework. This would be of course one option but a "generation-free" WDJ would allow you to code your WDJ apps / components completly without any generation.
    Extending the usage scenarios for "system components" - this kind of WD components is used to extend WDJ runtime capabilities. Currently this is only used for the "Technical Info" and the UI of the implicit personalization but there is a lot of potential to extend this.
    <p>
    This is only a very short list of things I have currently in mind - for sure you will find more.
    <p>
    Have fun at TechEd Phoenix
    Best regards
    Jochen

  • Titan Eclipse plug-ins released in open source

    Dear all,
    we are happy to announce that the source code of Eclipse plug-ins, after being migrated to ANTLR 4, has been released in github, see https://github.com/eclipse/titan.EclipsePlug-ins,
    together with a number of new test ports and protocol modules.
    The Eclipse plug-in installable package can be downloaded from https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/titan/TITAN_Designer_and_Executor_plugin-5.3.pl1-opensource.zip
    , and it contains all external dependencies of the plug-ins not available in Eclipse directly (not part of an Orbit package).
    It is a zipped update site, which , when downloaded , can be unpacked and used as a local update site to install the plug-ins.
    With this, the open sourcing project of Titan can be considered completed.
    Eclipse Titan consists of the compilation and execution environment, including native codecs for BER , generic binary, generic text, XML, JSON,
    plus a number of utilities for log handling, XML schema conversion etc. (see https://github.com/eclipse/titan.core);
    the afore-mentioned set of Eclipse plug-ins (Designer to assist in developing TTCN-3 code; Executor to control execution from Eclipse;
    LogViewer to represent logs in a graphical format; Titanium to assist in code refactoring, code smell detection etc.)
    plus a tool-box which at the moment consists of 17 test ports and 33 protocol modules with different encodings and a library of external functions.
    Depending on requests, more protocol modules and test ports could be released later.
    Titan development will continue internally within Ericsson, but we hope for contributors, either for TTCN-3 code,
    or for Titan core/plug-ins and test ports/protocol modules respectively, especially for domains not yet covered by Titan.
    On behalf of the Ericsson Titan developer team

  • Open Source project - request for interest

    Hi,
    I know this may not be the most appropriate place for this but I couldnt find anywhere else. The project is due to start up in early 2006. The technology is Java based and supports J2EE. It enables developers to work at a high level and generate apps very quickly and more complex functionality can be built using Java to address requirements.
    I thought I would post this here for anyone interested in participating in a new Open Source project for a Java development tool.
    I apologise in advance if anyone gets upset over this post - but I thought Java developers should be aware of the project.
    Thanks.
    Be in at the start of an exciting new Open Source initiative!
    If you're a Java developer and you'd be interested in participating in the development of a new UK-based Open Source project then read on.
    The project would seek to take an existing, powerful J2EE-based rapid web application development tool on to the next level. Sitting happily alongside other well-known open source names such as Red Hat, MySQL and JBoss, it enables the building and deploying of J2EE-based web applications in a fraction of the time that it would otherwise take to develop them. But the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
    So, if you're interested in contributing to the evolution of this project please email us at [email protected] with your contact details and we will be in touch with you.

    Thanks for the ponter, I will check it out.

  • Yoga 13: any chance for open source Synaptics touchpad driver or touchpad API?

    The Yoga is my 1st Windows machine in years. Coming from various MacBook(s) Pro(s) I dearly miss the capabilities and configurability of Apple's multitouch touchpad. While responsibility of the Synaptics device is fairly decent I haven't found an experience that is anything close to the one perceived on the MacBook touchpad. Latter in combination with BetterTouchTool is my weapon of choice when it comes to productivity. It offers almost unlimited configurability, that is, I can design/configure any gesture I desire and link it to a keystroke for instance. It's just perfect since I am not into Apple's predefined gesture settings at all.
    Now I have spent endless hours in getting this back on my new Yoga. At least I am now able to use 3 finger swipes for back/forward navigation. However, this is just a fraction of what I need/want. That's why I am looking for a way to either be able to modify the driver myself (open source, Lenovo/Synaptics?) or get access to an API I can build on. Obviously I'd prefer latter option. Synaptics is touting their Gesture Suite but I cannot find a download somewhere. I'm afraid it's OEM only. And if that's the config app that comes with the standard Synaptics driver it's just pathetic.
    So does anyone have a clue on how we can significantly improve the performance of this otherwise very nice laptop?
    Thanks in advance,
    stfn

    just wanted to say that I open-sourced the work I completed on the project:

  • Is there any product that is same as oracle coherence but is open source?

    I donot know if it is suitable to post this question here, but I really want to know it, so please help me~
    Is there any product that has same function as oracle coherence but is open source?

    You may have a look at for instance JBoss Cache. It does however (as far as I know) lack Coherence most useful (and powerful) caching architectures (i.e. "partitioned" and "near" caches). Nor do I belive you should expect the same level of stability or proven track record for use in demanding applications as coherence has.
    This said I think it can be a perfectly useful product for some applications were you don't need the most advanced features and don't have the budget for Coherence or some other commercial product - it is after all a lot better than writing your own project specific caching solution...

  • Any open source component libraries...?

    I could very well be getting ahead of myself but Ive been curious as of late. Are there any Open Source groups out there (that browse these forums) planning on developing some component libraries for JSF? I definitely see the need for some extended functionality in the area of data access.

    Yes.... I've been working on one, but unfortunately, I can only do this in my spare time, which has been quite limited lately due to other projects. We'll announce something in this group when there's something worth taking a look at. Right now, there are only about 5 components, and two of these are layouts, containers, rather than widgets.
