Any further info on microphones for recording

Anyone see any speculative or "soon to be released" ads? Having "Twilight Zone" on my iPod is a great novelty but being able to record my gigs would be pragmatically utiitarian. dennis a.k.a I wan't what I want now!

The built-in microphones on the camcorder are fairly similar. When you're recording music, we recommend the use of an external microphone.
The mic you use really depends on what you're recording and where.
So we may better assist you, please provide a bit of information regarding the type of recordings you'll be making, the music and the setting (i.e. what kind of venue, your distance to the music, etc).

I'm a Garageband and digital audio newbie. I understand you can connect a microphone to record in, instead of using the built-in mic. Can anyone recommend a couple different good quality mics? I want to record an acoustic guitar. Or maybe a web link that discusses how to do this?
Also, in the Garageband Help it describes as an alternative using an audio interface between the mic and the computer. Can anyone recommend something for this? Again, maybe an online article that discusses this in more detail?
I can't really find any specific information to help with this other than the vague sales and Help material.

My personal fav's for the sound quality and price point are the Apex 415 and Apex 460. Both are condenser mic's so then need phantom power, but the 460 comes with a phantom powered preamp so you should be good to go assuming you have an appropriate interface to your mac. Price on them is ~$160CDN for the 415 and ~$260CDN for the 460. The sound quality on these is stunning - rich, warm, and exceptionally detailed, especially compared to the shure SM57's. I will agree though that the SM57 is a terrific all-purpose mic (the design hasn't changed in 20 years, it's hard to argue the accepted capability of these mic's!), but I've found that it just hasn't been able to do justice to the rich sound of my Mesa/Boogie MarkIV. Last night I was practicing with my band and was testing out an Apex 415 in place of the SM57 I usually use to mic my guitar cabinet, and when I played the sound back, I commented to the drummer that it sounded really good. He was looking directly at me, listened, and after a second realized that I wasn't actually playing my guitar and was instead playing back the recording. The expression on his face was priceless..."holy $hit that sounds good, I thought you were actually playing!".

I have a video iPod and a plug in microphone to record voice memos. It's high quality and I love it. Is there one for the iPhone?

Most small and large diaphragm mics under the 700 price point tend to have WAY too much "zing" on their frequency curve. You think they sound great upon first using it, but once you start stacking up tracks with it, it starts to sound like a pack of bees swarming around your studio

I played a session 2 weeks ago, and the engineer mic'd my acoustic guitar with two of the blues... the Kiwi model, perhaps. It sounded excellent, and based on that one experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend those mics.

I'm a musician who plays live at jam sessions here and there and would appreciate some easy and decent recordings. As absurd as it sounds I sometimes record my playing through my Sony digital camera ( it has mov. capabilities) and the sound isn't that bad so obviously I am not looking for CD quality. Premiere Pro crashes whenever I enable my onboard microphone for recording voiceover

I wanted to record a voiceover to an edited piece - it's not important the quality of my voiceover, so I planned to record using the onboard microphone on my Macbook Pro (OS10.6.6, 2.66 GHz Interl Core i7, 8GB RAM).
If I go into Preferences > Audio Hardware and select Built-In Input it crashes Premiere Pro. I've submitted a crash report - but wonder if anyone has encountered anything similar or might know what I might do to avoid this or what might be causing the problem. I know that I have recorded voiceover before using the onboard microphone so this seems strange. (I've checked and the same problem occurs in After Effects - and it happens anytime I select one of the options that includes my onboard input. I am able to use my built-in microphone with other applications such as quicktime and camtasia, and no problems).

Has anyone encountered this problem or have any ideas how to fix it? I've seen several other people complain about the same or similar issues on other forums but can't find any solutions. I ended up needing to export my video from Premiere Pro and then add the voiceover in iMovie, and I really would have preferred to remain in PP. I'm confident it's not a hardware issue, so wonder whether anyone has any ideas about how to fix it...?

You likely have polarized sunglasses. If you turn your iPad from portrait to landscape (or vice versa) you'll be able to see your screen. I've experienced that with my sunglasses... The workaround to rotate it 90 degrees works for me

Help - Arm for record?

I am using Adobe Audition 3.0
I put together some mp3 tracks using multi track viewer, like a trailer.
I want to record and save this but there seems to be a problem as when I click the record button it straight away says "at least one track must be armed for recording". I then look to each track where it says "R" in small, and when I hover the mouse it says "Arm for record". However I cannot click this as it is grey.
What do I do? How do I record this as trailer, I do not want to use microphone for recording my voice, I just want this trailer to be saved as MP3 so it can go on disk. Last time I made trailer was on Apple Garageband and I wanted to record to save final version and was OK. I did not use microphone because I did not need to use voice.
Please help me, I would appreciate.

I could be mistaken but I believe you are talking about mixing down your multitrack files into a single stereo file.
To do this, click edit from the menu, and mixdown, all tracks as stereo.

Trying to record Stereo Mix with a monitor through my headphones. Using Screenium to record Audio and Video, using Avid MBox Mini with MXL 909 Microphone for the audio through the interface.

Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio. I have all that figured out. I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs. What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix. I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone. I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone. I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
Problems I have run into so far:
-Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone. Can't figure this out
-Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower. Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
-When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
-I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't figure it out
-Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.
Summed up:
Trying to record:
-Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
-Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.
-Record screen gameplay through Screenium
I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps. That is done and these are my current settings:
Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record. Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel) Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it. I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?
If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

Price anyway cannot be changed once GR is posted on the PO item, it can be changed only by cancelling the GR, the same applies to IR too.
But quantity can be changed at any time.
So if you are looking at blocking qty too, then a customized message through save exit is the option, I am not aware of any standard SAP messages that can be configured to achieve this..

You are right, Adobe does not support CS5 because it is no longer sold.
Simply download the trial version of CS5 from this Adobe web site and input your serial number.

this one is actually a really rare symptom of a flaky connection to the ipod on a Windows PC. there's more going on in terms of hardware on nanos and 5th gens than in the earlier models ... so if the connection is flaky to precisely the right/wrong degree, itunes will see the ipod, but misidentify it as an earlier version of ipod.
tracking down the cause of the flakiness can be tricky ... as you already know ...
just checking. have you tried connecting with a different (known-good) USB cable? does that seem to have any impact on the rate of occurence of the problem?
