Any Good Oracle Authorized Traning Center Online?

Hi
I am looking into being a OCP. It seems like after I got my OCA I would have to complete at least one of the approved courses.
I am interested in "Oracle Database 11g: Data Warehousing Fundamentals". It doesn't seem like any Ontario (where I am) Colleges in Oracle Workforce Development Program offer this course. I am curious if there is any Oracle approved online school that offers this course (with a more reasonable price tag of course)
thanks

I know that some colleges are authorized to offer Oracle courses with much better prices. There are a few in my area. The only problem is that they don't have offer the one class I am really interested to take. That's why I was wondering if I would be able to take these classes online, but not directly from Oracle UniversityNot all teh courses are given to the partners or institutions like colleges. I don't know what governs the distribution but it makes sense to keep more tougher courses like, RAC, Performance Tuning and others like these restricted to OU premises only as they don't just need a trainer to teach but demand state of the art infrastructure as well to let teh hands on go on. So if we see that, the price seems to be viable. But yes, you have to come to OU only for some of the courses without any other chouice or option.

Are there any good DVD authoring programs for Mac now that Apple has discontinued DVD Studio and iDVD? I need to make DVDs that have interactive menus and such (Final Cut X and Compressor 4's DVD option is a little cheap and doesn't provide any kind of professional DVD authoring). Any ideas?

This comes up a lot these days.
Practically speaking, there are really four options for the Mac platform: Toast (<$100),  Adobe Premier Productiom ($1,600 to buy or $50/month to rent),  find a copy of Final Cut Studio from 3rd  party (+/- $1,000 new) or a boxed edition of iLife to get iDVD ($50 - $90 on Amazon new).
The other question everyone has is how many OS versions before iDVD or FCS breaks? No one knows, but Apple has said they're no longer supporting these legacy apps. Of course, no one is mandated to upgrade to a new OS unless they buy a new computer. So if it works on a system, stay with it as long as it makes sense.
    Good luck.

  • Approval of OCP Course Reqm't from a Non-Oracle-authorized training center

    Hello,
I am currently an OCA, but would like to get my OCP certification. I took an instructor-led training, specifically a 3-week course covering one week of each: 1) SQL Fundamentals I, 2) Program with PL/SQL, and 3) Oracle Database Administration Fundamentals. I took my two Oracle OCA exams from the training center after the three-week training course and also received a certificate from the training center confirming that I completed the course.
However, the training institute is not an Oracle authorized training center. Does this mean that I will not be able to get credit for these for my OCP certification since the training institute is not an Oracle authorized training center?
    Thanks.

Just to clarify .... as far as i know ..... and this is all as far as I know ....
The hands on course requirement can be met by a approved course on the selected list of the certification taken from an Oracle Approved Education Center, Oracle Unversity, or WDP.
It is possible for a WDP institute to be offering Oracle Training outside of the WDP course, this would not be acceptable for certification. It would be nearly impossible for a student to realise this with clarity. (As far as I am aware WDP training would be characterised by a limited number of hours per week, about 4 or so, as far as I am aware if your training exceeded this intensity you should not be on a ).
It is perfectly possible for a institution to offer training for certification training without delivering oracle approved OAEC or WDP courses; however :
    - The training will not qualify for meeting hands on course requirements.
    - It may be that the institute shouldbuy relevant oracle licenses from Oracle.
    - The student is pleased the training gets them their OCA; however it is only afterwards they realise it does not help towards a DBA OCP.
From your point of view it is worth remembering PL/SQL OCP and FORMS OCP does not currently have a hands on course requirement; so you could pursue that i suppose.

Can I store pdf in blob, and still search words in the pdfs?Probably not, no. If you want to search the data inside Oracle, you'll want to look at Oracle Multimedia.I think the correct answer is "not efficiently". :-)Well, there is nothing that prevents you from building Oracle Multimedia yourself and getting similar levels of efficiency. Other than a desire not to invest dozens of man-years replicating delivered functionality, of course.

  • Any good online resources for pages templates?

I typically use Google docs for basic word processing. Needed some more robust features from time to time, but I hate having to run Word in VM Ware and not a fan of Word anyway. Really loving Pages so far.  Any good online resources for pages templates?

There are several options for templates you can use in Pages. First, there those submitted by other users & available at iWork Community.
You'll find some links in the Resources section  here.
I haven't tried these Microsoft sites for awhile, so I'm not sure if these steps are still valid, but it does give you a starting place.
Try Microsoft Office templates. to find links to many PC templates. Then comes the Microsoft trickery part. Choose the category then sub-category & then click the name of a template. Next is a page with a "download" button that takes you to the "Your operating system doesn't meet system requirements" page. All that means is that you can't use their automatic download service. Click the "download now" button in the section to manually download. Somewhere along the process was a license agreement. The file I chose downloaded as 06369101.cab. Double-clicking it launched Stuffit & resulted in a folder. I then had to change the .dot file in the folder to have the .doc extension. It then opened in Pages with only one unsupported warning.
The Mactopia site has a lot less templates to choose from, but was less involved to download. Most templates for Word will open nicely in Pages. I haven't come across one that doesn't, but that doesn't mean someone else might. The only thing to watch for is the file extension. Some Word templates have an extension other than .doc. You will still be able to use them, just change the extension to .doc in the Finder or Pages won't recognized them as Word files. Of course, you can't change just any file's extension to .doc & have Pages open it. It must be a Word document.

  • Any good APEX training class in NJ?

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to APEX. I'm at the point that I think I could use some serious APEX training.
what's your thought on APEX training? Did you folks just pick it up by yourself? How? BTW, the thousands of pages of User Manual/Advanced Tutorial do NOT help much, sometimes, they could be even confusing.
Any pointer to any good APEX training classes in NJ is appreciated. For some reason, APEX training in NJ is not on Oracle University's schedule. Or any other alternative? via video?
    Thanks much,
    Helen

I took the first two courses on APEX from DBCON (http://www.dbcon.com/courses.html). It's an online course which I'm not a huge fan of normally, but these two courses were helpful for me. The courses also included the "Pro Oracle Application Express" book which has also been helpful for me:

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no relationship with DBCON whatsoever. Just my two bits.

    Hi,
Do you have any good info on CC&B ? If you have any info or documents on CC&B, please send it to me.
I will really appreciate your help.
    Thanks much
    Younas Khan

A great source of information are the white papers listed on http://blogs.oracle.com/theshortenspot/entry/whitepaper_list_as_at_november
Next the online help of CC&B will give you a lot of information on the system and the demo database contains a fair number of examples for your reference.
You can check out the Oracle Support Community site for CC&B: https://communities.oracle.com/portal/server.pt/community/customer_care_and_billing/366
Training material is available at Oracle University but comes at a price.
