Any Headphones I plug into my Macbook it only Plays sound out of the Left Earphone??

I got New headphones and after about a week i noticed when I plugged it in it only played sound out of the left headphone, i plugged it into my phone and I pod and it Played out of both, then I plugged in different headphones into my Macbook and had the same problmem. I took a thin cotton swab and a TINY bit of rubbing alcohal and cleaned it out, still didnt work. Any ideas would help thanks! Im in panic mode!!

First check the balance in the Sound System Preferences.
If that is set correct I would bring it in to an Apple store and have them take a look at it.

Step 1:
In troublshooting the problem you may follow the steps provided below.

If the issue persists then I suggest you to follow these below mentioned steps to mute all other sounds when windows detects any communications activity.

c. Click the Communications tab.
d. Click on the radio button according to your convenience, under When Windows detects communications activity.
After performing the above steps you may check for the issue.

Macbook pro only uses 4gb out of the 8gb installed..

I have an early 2011 15" i7 macbook pro, I upgraded the memory ram to 8gb. when i go to activity monitor it shows the 8gb but it never uses more than half, even when im running multiple software at a time like autocad, illustrator and other 3d modeling software... please helpme i thinkf its vmware fusion which i have installed but not running, I havent find a way to fix this and its driving me crazy since i feel i installed the 4gb extra for nothing....

Volume is muted and no webpage with sound is up. Is this a warning sign? If so, of what?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

2 thunderbolt displays worked fine daisy chained, moved one to work in other room, now only one will work. both work independantly or both plugged into my macbook pro.

I have 2 thunderbolt displays and have had them daisy chained for months where I only would plug one into my macbook pro 15" retina and both displays have worked great. The other day I moved one of them into the conference room, connected also a HDMI cord to a projector to do some work with staff on software design.
I brought my thunderbolt back into my office and plugged it back into the other thunderbolt dispay, then plugged the other display back into my macbook and started it up and now I can only get one to work daisy chained. They both work great independantly or if both of them are plugged into my macbook pro, but not daisy chained any longer.
Is there a setting I need to look at to maybe reset so that my macbook pro will use both thunderbolt displays daisy chained?

Could be a poor ground. Try plugging the monitor directly into the wall (no power strip) and see what happens.

When I connect it to my iMac (with up-to-date OS X Yosemite 10.9.5) - it doesn't work.
Specifically - iTunes automatically launches, but then quickly shows a dialog window that says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone. This device is no longer connected."
Meanwhile - on my iPhone - in the upper right-hand corner (where the battery life is displayed) - you can see the "plugged in" icon (lightening bolt) rapidly blinking on and off.
In other words - it seems like, when it's plugged in - it's rapidly connecting and disconnecting (several times per second).
If I click "OK" on that dialog window on iTunes - it instantly pops back up, and continues to do so as long as I keep the iPhone plugged in.
I have tried all and stile did not resolve my problem. I tried to restart both devices, try different cable (I have original cable). Both devices are new and software's are update it on latest versions.

Headphones + speakers plugged into SB Live

Okay this is bugging me. Yes, I know my SB Li've! is crusty and old, but I'll replace it when I go PCI-E.
Basically, I have 2 speaker/sub plugged into output and headphones plugged into output 2. The only way I can get sound out of the headphones is to set it in 4 speaker mode in the mixer - as in my speakers are now front channel and my headphones are rear channel. No good. Is there no other way to do this other than unplugging my speakers and replacing with headphones every time I want to use them?

As suggested already, but aren't these just 2 equal stereopairs when using 4 speaker setup --> stereo not splitted for 4 speakers?

To me this works perfect with Audigy 2 (meaning 2 stereo outputs with speakers set to 4).
I use "Nati've Instruments BeatPort Player" for music playing, which supports ASIO driver mode --> ASIO allows to set stereo output to any of the 3 LineOuts found from the back of the card (speakers need to set up right so wanted ports are available (eg. 2/2. (line ), 4/4. (Lines & 2) etc.).
If I want to output from two sources simultaenously then I need just
- activate 4 speakers output
- set BeatPort Player output to rear L/R
- set other player output normally

You might need to clean the headphone port (I was in the same situation and this worked for me). Dirt, dust, and debris accumulate in the port and eventually the computer registers the debris as headphones being plugged in. After cleaning the issue was resolved.

If your computer is running Windows, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Check to see if "Apple Mobile Device" Service is Started. If not right click on this service and select Start. Also make sure Startup type is set to Automatic. If not, right click on this service, select Properties and set it to Automatic.

Try going to settings> general > reset> reset all settings. If that doesn't work. Place a headphone jack in there and just pull it out a couple times. The problem is either your iPad setting is stuck or there is actually a hardware problem and moving the jack in and out might fix it
