Any HH Firmware updates planned?

Are there any HH fiirmware upgrades in the pipeline?
I have been suffering with my hub needing a reboot every so often as it slows down, NAT issues with Xbox360 and other minor annoyances. Will these be getting fixed any time soon?
Thanks

I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying here. See my other thread on the pointless waste of time I've spent trying to get my hub to stream media to a console, which seems perfectly within the abilities of a cheaper, older non BT unit.
I am totally exasperated at the attitude of BT. Basically today I've been told that a NAS solution is not supported as it is "incompatible" with what I am trying to do. What I am trying to do is not rocket science, and is surely within the realms of the aspirations of BT wishing your hub to become the centre of media sharing in the home!?!!
How do I feel today? Pretty damned annoyed. It's clear that there is a myriad of problems with BT hubs that do not live up to expectations. BT claim that these forums are scanned by moderators who are aligned with product.
Really?
If one of these moderators would stick their head over the parapet occasionally to engage with the customer it would be a revelation, probably to both parties....
Right now my anger stems mostly from what seems to be a position of utter arrogance on the part of BT. So what I am trying to do is unsupported due to "incompatible" hardware? Strange how swapping out a BT hub for another brand fixes the issue is it not? Someone please tell me where this incompatibility is documented, apart from the rather creative imagination of BT.
If these forums were scanned regularly it would not take long for someone to realise that there are many issues being experienced with that wonderful black box. Some 2 way dialogue would be constructive here, BT.
Whilst I am still willing to listen to suggestions to resolve my issue, which would no doubt help others, I will also start looking for another ISP and phone provider that might be more interested in a customer's requirements.

  • Any new firmware updates for Linksys E2500 yet?

I heard about this http://www.komando.com/news/241801/self-replicating-virus-infects-and-breeds-inside-linksys-routers and wondering if there are any firmware updates yet but I havent seen any unless one is being worked on?

If your router is infected, you can reload the same firmware and get rid of it (but of course make sure you disable or change the remote management port so it is not still vulnerable).  The new firmware expected to come out will fix the vulnerability, but in the meantime, you can stop the attack by reloading...rebooting won't do it.

  • Questions related to SMC and firmware update

In 2005 just before Tiger OS was launched, I purchased the iMac G5 which was introduced in Oct, '04. This is a 1.8GHZ-17inch iMac, and I would like to find out if there is any firmware that need to be updated.
I tried to reset the SMC - shut the computer, unplug power for 15 seconds, restart - and have not noticed any changes with the malfunctioning sleep function. When I click it to sleep it immediately shuts the system off.
I can't determine if this is caused because I never have updated the firmware, or because the SMC needs to be reset.
Would any required firmware update would also show when I run the update software application? If not, how can I find out if any firmware for the iMac model needs to be updated?
To reset the SMC for some computers one needs to open the system and reset a button in the motherboard. I don't wan't to do that unles I need. I also need to know where the reset button is located.
Your help and/or comments are appreciated.

I'll second that -- everything sounds normal -- Mac's just run hotter at times -- in real-life use, you will probably find it doesn't get that hot. Those tests are literally for the birds. Too many people in these forums give too much bad advise, and it leads to people being worried about nothing.
In general, you will do better with chat forums in other sites, rather than this help forum, because 99 percent of the people who post here are those who have some kind of problem, and rather than going to their apple store, they post and post their problems over and over here (and other sites).
The likelihood of you having any real-world problems are pretty much nil.

  • Apply EFI firmware update whilst booting from USB drive

I am considering converting one of my Macs to a Windows only laptop (i.e. only have Windows 7 installed on the internal drive - achieved via Paragon CampTune software).
I will keep a bootable copy of OS X on an external USB drive.
My only concern is whether I will be able to update the EFI firmware if/when an update is released. If I boot from an external USB will I be able to apply such an update?
Also, does Apple software update alert you when firmware updates are available?
    Thanks

You can perform all of the same functions on your machine booting from an external drive.  So yes, you will be able to download and install any firmware updates using your external drive.  Software Update will inform you of any needed firmware updates.

  • Any plans to fix wireless networking after the 40S51U Firmware Update 2.2.5 broke it?

After the 40S51U Firmware Update 2.2.5 wireless passwords must be re-entered every time the device is powered on. It's been almost 4 months since the untested patch was released – is a fix coming?

You're the only person I can remember having that issue. You should call customer support.

  • Planned firmware update for previous dual band 2.4/5 'N' Airport Extreme ??

Hi, I purchased a Airport Extreme dual band 'n' router about 2 months ago. Now that the new generation has been released, is there a planned firmware upgrade available to previous generation users to move from the 'n' draft to the finalized 'n' specs? Also, is there any major changes from the n draft to the finalized n that improves performance, stability, etc...
Just curious want options, if any, people like me have?
Lastly, any chance I can bring in my APExtreme into the Apple store to get an upgraded antenna installed??

Now that the new generation has been released, is there a planned firmware upgrade available to previous generation users to move from the 'n' draft to the finalized 'n' specs?
Apple normally does not announce any firmware updates, so it would be pure speculation as to if and when they would provide one specifically for the finalized "n" spec.
Lastly, any chance I can bring in my APExtreme into the Apple store to get an upgraded antenna installed??
Since Apple has never (to my knowledge) offered an internal antenna upgrade for any of their wireless products, I don't think this would ever become an option. My guess is if it did, it would not be cost effective for you to go this route.

  • Any good reason to apply firmware update 1.2?

Just for those of you with a 2.17 Ghz iMac Intel Core2Duo (purchased December 2006) 20" model, is there a good reason to apply firmware update 1.2? I.e. does it improve compatibility with any other updates? I currently have Boot ROM version IM51.0090.B03. I didn't want to apply it unless absolutely necessary, or if it improves anything. I prefer to say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

a brody...I did apply 1.2 the same day as it came out....wasn't having a problem before and did not have a problem after...saw no change....ain't broke ,don't fix it....for you 2 Al...
    but you are both behind

  • Any fix for MacPro Fan problem caused by the last firmware update?

    Hi,
My macPro's fans have been going balistic on restart from sleep mode ever since I loaded that last firmware update that was supposed to address the MacPro fan control.
Any word on a fix... Is this overspeed damaging my hardware?

It is a bug in the firmware update because my MacPro never acted this way before the update was loaded...
Many have reported the problem... and some have not experienced it... Go figure.
Logic says this is not a bug. A bug with the firmware update would be universally felt, no exceptions. Firmware doesn't change its format out of the blue when it chooses to. What it does say is there are some Mac Pros that for whatever reason are not getting sufficient cooling in their position on the desk/floor, or the climate they are being used in. Since Apple does not publish the temperature limits internally for its machine, the best thing is to report this problem to AppleCare, even if the hardware test comes out negative.

  • Is there any way to get firmware update for my DVD-RW Drive from Ultra 40?

Hi, I have Sun Ultra 40 Workstation which comes with Matshita DVD-RAM drive.
While I do enjoy working on my U40 workstation, its DVD-RAM drive is wll pretty bad.
It just fails to burn DVD/CD-R/RW media too often.
Yes, I got it serviced, but it's just the same.
So my final hope is to get the latest firmware, becuase latest firmware often solves such media compatability issues.
Mine has D100 firmware and I find other people who has the same drive on different system have D101, D200, D201 firmware.
So does anyone know how to contact Sun to get the latest firmware for my DVD-RAM drive?
I did contacted Matshita for this matter and they tell me to contact Sun. But I cannot even find email address for Sun Support or any. sigh...
    Thanks.
    Sang

    Hello Sang,
I have Sun Ultra 40 Workstation which comes with Matshita DVD-RAM drive.
Mine has D100 firmware and I find other people who has the same drive on different system have D101, D200, D201 firmware.
So does anyone know how to contact Sun to get the latest firmware for my DVD-RAM drive?
I did contacted Matshita for this matter and they tell me to contact Sun.
I did review the Full Components List for the Ultra 40. The only DVD drives listed (Part No. 370-7970) are Panasonic UJ-485 and Teac DV-W28SLA-093. Both aren't capable of reading or writing DVD-RAM.
In some countries Panasonic uses Matshita as brand name.
I did a search on SunSolve with the keywords DVD firmware.
Sun supplies only firmware updates for two DVD readers: Toshiba DVD 1401 (fixes: unable to boot from Solaris 8 DVD) and Toshiba SD-C2732 (fixes: returns incorrect data).
I was unable to update the firmware of the SD-C2732 (Sun part) with the Sun patch. The drive was attached to an Ultra 10 (with an adapter). I ended attaching the drive to a PC and using a DOS boot floppy with the Toshiba flash program and the Sun firmware.
Regarding you problems with the drive: Have you tried another brand of media. The Ultra 40 is under warranty (GA date was February 14, 2006).
Use the contact information from your other thread.
If you search the net for firmware you can locate sites that offers region-code-free firmware for several drives. Usually they provide a flash program (requires creation of a DOS boot floppy). Using these programs/firmware voids your warranty. Maybe you can not revert the firmware upgrade.
These slimline drives have no jumpers, the installed firmware (of the drive) determines if the drive is master, slave, uses cable-select (CS) or reversed CS.
