Any idea how this art style is achieved?

The style in question is this:

I was wondering if anyone knew how the effect is achieved and the types of brushes or other effects you need to draw in this style.
The reason I am asking on here is because the artist who made these is very hard to reach.

When I'm in the painterly/sketchy mood, I usually go to a program like Ambient Design's ArtRage or Autodesk's SketchBook Pro.
I know Photoshop is more than capable of doing something like this but I'm far more comfortable in an app designed expressly for painting or drawing.

Firefox fails to import history, cookies, favourites etc. from opera; cookies etc. are not listed in the space where you can select the items you want to import any idea how this comes? thanks!

In the importing operation Firefox detects Internet Explorer and Opera as installed browsers. When i select Internet Explorer cookies, history, favourites etc. are listed in a box where you can select the items you want to import in Firefox. When i select Opera no items are listed that can be imported. Any idea how this comes?

I think that what you are searching be in Tools >> Options >> Privacy >> On Firefox will: change to "Use custom settings for history" then Button Show Cookies will be allowed and you will see the cookies in your browser in the next window
If you uncheck "Accept cookies from sites", probably the sites that need cookies will alert you that you need active the storage cookies

As Léonie wrote Aperture can add a watermark file to an image on export but I find its ability to do so limited.
Another option is the free plugin BorderFX . It has a lot of capabilities that are very useful when using Aperture. Even if you decide not to use it for this you should check it out.

Well, I know in iOS 5 they can be linked to e-mail accounts, not sure if you had that setup or not.
For future reference, use a program like Evernote, amazing and free, plus dedicated PC apps if you want to view notes on your computer.

Well I don't think it was done with screen capture but you can easily do something like that in After Effects or Flash.
But if you use Photoshop you simple make another layer for each size of the tear drop.
I would make two documents one that is large enough to make the background darker gray color so that when it is move will still over the fram of the background image.
You make that document a transparent background rather than white.
Then fill it with black or a dark gray and give it a transparency then make a selection of the teardrop shape and delete it from the fill color.
Then turn that selection into a path and stroke it.
Then make a document the size of the background image with the background image either opened or placed in it.
Then copy and paste the Gray transparent art from the other document and turn on animation in the PS window menu.
Use the time line method,
In the time line expand the dark gray layer and click the clock icon next to position and you will see a diamond shape appear at the first frame of the time line for that layer.
Now move the tear drop to the starting position then the time line frame indicator to the frame where to you want it to reach another position and then move the tear drop to that position, you will see another diamond appear where the frame indicator is, this is a key frame.
You move the frame indicator again and then move the teardrop again.
The white text is done naturally on a layer with white text and no background color and you move it he same way.
When you resize the tear drop you do it by copying the layer resize that copy you place it in the time line under the first teardrop layer but start it where you want it to first appear in the animation
At the same time you end the first presence of the first layer by resizing its duration in the time line. Now the first one disappears and the second size appears you can fade then as well.
Same with the text.
In photoshop it is more difficult than in after effects but you can get similar results. But it is still not too difficult. Animation requires a bit of patience and logical thinking and a there are mistakes to be made.

I installed Firefox v7.0.1 and I wasn't able to figure out how to pin the bookmarks to the left of the screen as in earlier versions. Any idea how this can be done in v7.o.1? If it's not possible I'll have to stay with an older version or go back to I.E.

Does that make sense to you, you're going to back because you can't use a new option so the tabs are the same as before.
Right-click on a tab and choose "Pin as app-tab", and never do anything unless you know how to reverse it -- "Unpin tab" or delete the tab like any other tab.
I would suggest you bookmark the tabs you want as app tabs into a folder, so that you can periodically recreate them. Do not include your home page in your app-tabs or you will have two copies at Firefox startup.
Although I don't have a problem with them disappearing when I start Firefox, they always seemed like a potential problem over time. I use them but I often do start them over from a bookmarked folder so the are "clean" only one page per app-tab. Besides app-tabs can be accidentally closed like any other tab (use "Ctrl+Shift+T" to restore a tab, if you notice the loss immediately).

Apple TV quits unexpectedly and when I look at the Mac Mini where the Music is coming from, it says someone else is using the Apple TV. Any idea how this happens? All s/w is updated. Re-booted all h/w.

The Apple TV will play four or five songs from the Computer, and then stops suddenly. It's worked fine for months until a couple days ago. The message says the AirPlay/Apple TV is being used by another person. When I go down to the tiny icon in the iTunes box (lower right), it only offers Computer as option and no longer shows Apple TV as option.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

Converting numerous strings to one string - any ideas how to do this?

I've written a test main class where the user inputs, via the keyboard, one integer value and four strings. I've already converted the one integer to a string value, but I now need to convert all of the strings to one string

The Bluetooth low energy protocol is not backward compatible with classic Bluetooth protocol. My iPhone 4s can not find my sonny in-dash player. However my iPhone 3GS does it. Very disappointed with this. Any idea how it can be fixed???

You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player? Not knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

M…oSoft products aren't allowed on my machines but I use LibreOffice which is a clone of Office.
When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.
