Any idea how to voice chat with yahoo users ?
Hi,
I need to voice chat with my brother. He uses yahoo messenger and he refuses to use skype for some reason
I have tried :
1. Gyache : I did not manage to install it. Moreover, some people on the forums are saying it supports voice chat rooms not voice call.
2. Skype : My brother won't use this.
3. Ekiga tweak to call yahoo : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414121
This is not ok too.
I need something which will let me voice chat with my brother . And it is also required that my brother need not do anything ( like accepting buddy for the ekiga case ).
4. Empathy : Wha. How to install it properly ?
5. Kopete : Are you sure it has voice chat ? I did not find anywhere that kopete supports voice chat.
6. Meebo : I clicked audio call after logging in. But the page keeps saying pudding media is loading. It actually never loads.
Please help. This is the only thing i am missing in linux and only reason i still have to use windows :(:(:(:(
I am using OSS 4.1 and opera web browser and flash version is 9.

There is also Trillian that works for Audio only in it's Basic version and does Video for it's $25 Pro version.
Moving away from the AIM based service there are other options.

I don't think the web-based Yahoo Messenger supports video, so nothing you can do with that.

I think there are Mac compatible MSN clients that will do video, (i.e. aMSN) Also, Microsoft plans on releasing an updated version of Messenger for Mac soon.

GoogleTalk does have a browser based video chat, but your friends would need to install a browser plug-in. (which I would assume that can't do either)
The best option is Skype, but also requires an install on their end (I would think that the internet cafes would/should have this available)

I Have a new mac book pro with OS X 10.9.5 and now my CS4 is Not Working anymore. It tells me to Contact Adobe Support regarding the licence - but that Seems impossible. Any idea how to solve this?

The Bluetooth low energy protocol is not backward compatible with classic Bluetooth protocol.
My iPhone 4s can not find my sonny in-dash player. However my iPhone 3GS does it. Very disappointed with this.

You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player? Not knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.

I imported about 300 RAW images yesterday and worked with them for about an hour. iPhoto locked up on me and I rebooted. After I did the event icon for that event is now gray and it says there are no photos. I know the photos are there. Any idea how I can recover them?
a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

I have tried to restore my old iPhone 3, but when i tried the itunes logo and a pic of a USB cable have come up on my phone and now i cant do anything with my phone.Any ideas how i can fix this? I am using a T61 ThinkPad with an external hard drive and my itunes library keeps disapearing but remains on the external drive. Any idea how to fix this so my music doesn't disapear all the time? It's a real drag pulling music back into iTunes each week

Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory.
