Any Idea if a first Gen. Intel MacPro 2.66 Xeon Dual Core running SL will run CS5 in 64 BIT mode?

I have a Intel MacPro first Generation Dual 2.66 Xeon processor machine running Snow Leopard and I was wondering if it will be able to run PS CS5 in 64 Bit mode or does it have to be a later generation MacPro?

The original question was 'answered' with questions because the original question was so odd. CS5 has not been announced so no one can state what it can do. This is not rocket science about software that has not been released yet. If someone knows the answer to the question, they are not allowed to say anything yet. This is how prerelease Adobe software is handled.

I've done this, but couldn't gather clear information about whether the graphics card was suitable for Premiere CC? Using CPUbenchmark it seemed to me like it would be suitable. Its unlikely we would use After Effects CC but would be handy if it would work.
Also the G2030 dual core? Can you recommend how I find out if this would work, as the site states the requirement to be a Dual Core2... does this mean the software (Premiere CC, Photoshop CC, Indesign CC etc) would not work at all?
Any guidance helpful.

First Gen Intel iMac

I have a first generation intel iMac and the screen has vertical lines all over it and it is near impossible to see anything. I love this machine and it am not ready to totally replace it just yet. I purchased a cheap 20" monitor and connected it via the mini dvi to vga adapter and all works great.
Now on to the question. Is it possible to turn the display off on the actual iMac? I have the displays mirrored. The iMac display is just too distracting and I would like to turn it off and have the external monitor as the only one on. Is this possible?

Any ideas for resolving IE "Page Cannot be Displayed" issues being encountered in Viewer using 11.1.1.7 in SSL mode, works fine w/Firefox & Chrome, or IE using nonSSL.

Wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue. We have tried to work an SR on it, but just have not been getting anywhere w/support.
We recently upgraded from 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7.
When using a SSL connection (https://...8094), our Discoverer Viewer IE users are encountering "Page cannot be found" errors when running reports and when trying to export. The problems are not encountered for users utilizing Firefox or Chrome, just IE.
A couple notes:
We've found that by dialing down the number of rows to display, that will most often allow the report to work, e.g. if the report is set to display 25 rows, the report will fail and we'll just get the IE "Page cannot be found". If we change the display rows to 5, then the exact same report with the exact same parameters will work. Although it would be nice to be able to display more than just 5 rows of data :-) .
When the report runs successfully, we've also found that users get a lot of failures when exporting to .XLS. Often they can be successful exporting to .csv instead of .xls, but some reports still fail to export .csv.
We didn't have any of these issues prior to upgrading from 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7, and again the issues only impact IE users when connecting in SSL mode. If we test the exact same reports/parameters using a non-SSL connection (same web-server, just using http://....:8090 instead of https://.....:8094), everything works great. Something just doesn't seem to be compatible between IE, SSL and the Web Server for the page calls over some certain size.
Just wanted to reach out to see if any Disco Web Server gurus out there might have any ideas of things for us to try.

So, I did this:
edited $INSTANCE_HOME/config/OHS/ohs1/ssl.conf file.
Commented/removed the following section (Took a backup of the file before modifying it)
BrowserMatch ".*MSIE.*" \
nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \
downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0
opmnctl stopall
opmnctl startall
The Viewer problem seems to be gone. Oracle is adding a note to MOS for this issue, possibly with this solution.

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

So, I made the mistake of updating Garageband 09 to GB 11 without exporting my songs first. When i try to open one of them it freezes up and won't respond then the program crashes.... any ideas?

You can get a first-gen Mac Pro on eBay for around $300. It can run OS 10.4 through 10.7. Something to consider, depending on the cost of a logic board and the hassle of replacing it. First, I suggest you limit the subject line of your question to a few words which will help someone identify the problem you are encountering. Putting the entire question there looks as though you are shouting.
It would help anyone to identify your problem if you were to say what video codec (file format) you are using, and describe the method you are using in your attempts to export it.
You could also list any relevant error messages you encounter.
What version of FCP X are you using?
All these things will make it easier for people to help you.

If those features are important to you, many have setup a Mac Mini with Equinux MediaCentral, or similar device as their media center. There are probably other similar software as well.

CS6 Photoshop crashes when trying to use type tool or opening up .psd files. Any ideas on how to fix it???

I have Adobe CS6 Design Standard (MAC). I have had it about a year and a half and use it a ton! Just yesterday while I was using Photoshop, I clicked to use the type tool, the "initializing type tool" box popped up then a few seconds later the whole program crashed. I tried opening it back up and every time I did it just kept crashing. I restarted and shut down my computer, but still no solution. I even uninstalled the program then reinstalled. Same thing. All of my other tools work just fine (brush tool, eraser, crop, etc.). Also, when I try to open up a .psd file the program crashes as well.
I tried searching the internet for solutions, but couldn't find much. One suggestion was to delete the Adobe Photoshop program settings file, I did that but it still didn't work. After each crash a report would be sent to Adobe, then another window would pop up saying that Adobe has found a solution for the recent crash. There is a link that says "please CLICK HERE for further details" but the link doesn't take me anywhere. It just doesn't work!
Has anyone had this happen to them? Any ideas on how to fix it? I really need to get this up and running again!!!

This is a user to user forum and Adobe Staff does drop by.
First thing to try is Reset the Type Tool by right-clicking on its' icon in the Options bar.
If you still have problems, it could be related to fonts. Here is a step by step troubleshooting help doc for that.

Can't back-up new iMac with fusion HD. The back-up proceeds to within 10% of the total storage needed and then the "of" number increases. I suspect there is a problem with backing up the fusion drive. We have a new 3 TB time Capsule. Any ideas?

When you setup the wireless and ethernet in the computer.. ipv6 will be on automatic.. this is wrong for the latest TC firmware and airport utility. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597
Go to the wireless and ethernet setup in preferences and change ipv6 to link local.
Once you do the big backup by ethernet the wireless will function fine for incremental.. it is obviously not estimating the size correctly..
A full back-up on the iMac would be about 650 GB. The partial updates that I have been trying start out at 115MB and keep growing indefinitely. The original back-up never finished nor have any of the follow-up attempts.
The first estimate should be the full backup but it will keep growing as the backup advances.. I would also delete any inprogress files to make sure it is not messing up .. delete even a sparsebundle if there is one for the imac on the TC and start afresh once you have ethernet connection.

Pondini may have some other clues there to give you an idea of why the backup is slow or not finishing.. there is a lot of issues with TM when it decides not to work.

I get this error when trying to run freshclam, I have corrected the permissions as suggested in other posts.
ERROR: Can't open /var/log/freshclam.log in append mode (check permissions!).
ERROR: Problem with internal logger.

Ahh. So you are running freshclam manually then. Now that explains everything.
1. freshclam only updates ClamAV's virus database, not the application itself.
2. freshclam is run automatically based on the update settings in Server Admin (once a day is enough)
3. to run freshclam manually (which is pointless) you need to become user clamav first, this is why you got permission errors.
BuildSmart will update your system to the latest ClamAV version (and lots more). However, you seem to be very unexperienced with unix (no offense meant) and ClamAV is only x.xx.1 version behind, so I would leave things as they are for now.

My computer is constantly freezing due to spikes in "data written" in my "disk activity," any idea how to fix this?

The more I use my Macbook Pro lately, the more it freezes. I check the control panal immediately after it freezes and I notice a spike in "date written" under the "disk activity" catagory. Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?

Open Disk utility and run Repair Disk in First Aid.
