Any idea why my macbook pro won't allow me to save anything?

I have plenty of free space- when I click 'Save As' in Illustrator the save window pops up but then disappears again in a second before I am able to save it. The same thing is also happening in Safari browser. Very odd as it has only just started doing it after having this mac for 3 years!

Try a safe boot, some times this can fix some glitches, power off, power back on holding the shift key till you see the progress indicator (note this will take longer than normal) login, logout. Boot normally.

For your issue - Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.
Change your router channel. Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router. Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.

Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.

Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.

Mac won't allow me to save anything to external HD.

I have an early 2011 MacBooc Pro and I have a brand new never used 500GB HP portable Hard drive, whenever I attempt to save anything or transfer anything from the HD it will not allow me?
Something about permissions...
I know its vague I'm completely idiotic when it comes to computers.
Any help would be appreciated.

maybe it's because your Hard drive format. is it NTFS? If it is in NTFS format, then your macbook pro won't allow you to write data on your HDD, it's only allow you to copy data from your HDD into your macbook pro's drive.
I suggest that you buy software Paragon NTFS for your mac, or you can simply re-format your HDD into exFAT, because mac osx is now fully support exFAT format. To do this, you can simply format it using windows based PC or using Disk utility in your macbook. hope it helps!

In iPhoto it was possible to go into the iPhoto prefs and set up Elements as an external editor. After using “Edit in” the image was saved back to the iPhoto library. Photos for OSX is very new, so I’m not sure whether that is possible with the new app. Have you looked for the prefs/settings? You could ask a question on the Apple forum:

Any ideas why my HDMI cable won't work anymore?

I have a 2011 MBP and a Belkin HDMI cable. I've used the cable to connect to HDTVs and a VVME brand projector. When I connected the cable into my MBP it would always just work. Now, for a brief period my laptop screen goes blue like normal, but nothing appears from my computer to the projection screen, and then my laptop screen goes back to normal. So although the HDMI cable is connected from the projector to my MBP, nothing happens anymore. There isn't a galaxy screen or anything, the screen just says 'No Signal'. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Local retail stores vary according to their inventory, more than likely the have Lion ready MBP. Call and ask.

MacBook Pro won't allow me to copy/unrar .RAR Files (error code -36).

So basically, I've been downloading a lot of .RAR files and its been fine until now. I can't copy/unrar anything. I tried so much I even upgraded from snowy leopard to Lion. I'm pretty angry and I've tried dot_clean /users/manraj/desktop/
I've reformatted my externals and honestly I can't even Time Machine back it up let alone copy it. Genius Bar won't help at all because they never back anything up. If anything they aren't responsible for loosing your files.

Is this an external drive, internal drive, both? Did you put a tons of files on your desktop which is bad thing to do with OSX?

If copying to a FAT drive you may be encountering FAT format file size limitations (4GB for FAT32).

My Macbook Pro won't allow me to update from Quicktime 10.2 to 10.7

I need QuickTime 7 on my mac to play some files for work, and already have QuickTime 10.2 on it, which my Mac won't allow me to uninstall. And when I try and install 7.7, I get an alert telling me that 'This version of QuickTime 7 can't be instralled on this disk because QuickTime X is already present. Please use Software Update to install the appropriate version of QuickTime for you Mac.'
Yet when I use Software Update, there is nothing to update.
Any ideas?

My MacBook pro won't allow me to double click to open files or select the music I want to play, how do I fix this?

When going to open a file or select a song to play in iTunes or opening links I used to be able to double click on my track pad to open files or links, now I have to tap once with two fingers to open the "right click" option on a normal mouse pad to be able to select it. How do I fix this in order to be able to just double click the track pad to open the folder or link?

I don't recall dropping my MBP, but suddenly the screen refused to stay latched at all and would easily fall open inside my bag (and wake up the mac) if nothing was pushing against it. I decided to find out why.
I found that the hooks in the top part of the case would come down normally, but even then they would not latch. I opened the case, and found that parts of the latching magnet that the hooks hook on to had broken off, on both sides too:

The mechanism is part of the lower case. To find the model number of your case, look here on the bottom of it:

Because the CD slot in my case is also bent such that a CD won't come out anymore I'm considering replacing it (and while I'm at it, i'll probably get a big harddrive and a $55 RAM upgrade to 4GB too. And maybe a new logic board as my graphics chip is unreliable.)

Any idea why this desktop file won't launch the application?

I have been trying to get this desktop file to work so I can launch epsxe faster. However, it does not do anything when I try to run it. Mind you I do have the permissions and group set correctly. Here it is:

You REALLY do have permissions set correctly? Mind posting a "ls -la /opt/exsxe/1.9.0/"? Have you tried setting Terminal to ture? You could run it in the background with &. Also, have you tried reading the manual pages for your PSX emulator?

MacBook Pro won't allow website to use camera

Hey fellows.
So, I've been trying to use a few different websites, the likes of www.6rounds.com and www.stickam.com, that allow you to video chat with people. Whenever I try to make sure my camera is working, though, it refuses to acknowledge it. I have the macromedia settings set up properly, and I can open photobooth, and immediately the green light opens. As soon as I switch screens, though, it disappears, and even with it open in the background, the camera can never be accessed.
Any help? It would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the software's ability to access the hardware is the point of failure. If the camera works in Photo Booth, it's not an OS X issue.
