Any Illustrator book recommendation?

I know how to use Illustrator, I'm definitely not a beginner. But what I am looking for is a Illustrator book that has master techniques; mostly creating text and text effects for logos . Most of the books I read are about brainstorming or how to get inspired.
I'm looking for techniques to take me to the next level. Any recommendations?

Different learning styles. The OP asked for a book.

  • Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript for flash?

Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript
    for flash?
    Intermediate level
I have been using flash for about 2 years more as a hobby
than anything else, some websites etc but now I realise I am going
to need to learn more actionscripting to do what I want, I have
come to terms with the simple stuff like goto – basic
variables – load mov – enough to programme up website
    navigation.
I ideally want to learn more about the dynamic side of flash,
mostly for designing user interfaces and websites etc
I’m after a book that doesn’t get too heavy too
fast yet I’m a little past the more basic functions
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers

  • Book Recommendation for Fathers Day?

I'm waiting for Illustrator CS4 Wow! to come out here in the UK as my next book purchase and I already have a couple of basic manual replacement books which I am steadily ploughing through.  I wonder if anyone could suggest a couple of titles I could give to my kids to distract them from the inevitible cheap aftershave alternative?
I would like either a book that discusses more intermediate issues in Illy rather than the kind of very basic manual replacement books or if you're up for it, suggest a couple of illustration techniques that might be useful and help with my drawing.  I realised pretty quickly that a) Photoshop isn't good at taking your photos, b) Dreamweaver isn't that good at writing your code and c) Illustrator isn't up to drawing your drawings - Maybe a clickable "Inspiration Panel" should be a feature request?
So either any recommendations for drawing techniques that would be useful for digital art and/or recommendations for interemediate level Illustrator techniques?
    Many thanks
    Martin

Thanks for the suggestion but that's one of the books I already have
and think it's one of the best Adobe Software help books I have out of
all of them.  It's really well written and covers a lot of material in
a practical way.  The other Illustrator book I have is by Deke
McClelland which I find to be more like a reference manual than Mordy
    Golding's.

  • Any good book about LabIVEW for IMAQ Vision?

I am very new to IMAQ vision (LabVIEW). I tried to read all of the tutorial on the NI web page, but it doesn't help that much. Is there any book recommended for the beginner (LabVIEW for IMAQ)? What I have to do with IMAQ is to write a program to measure distance, identification part whether it's present or absent, and measure angles.

If you're new to IMAQ Vision, your best bet is to take one of the Machine Vision and Image Acquisition courses offered through National Instruments. Go to www.ni.com/custed to find a course being offered in your area. Another option is to use Vision Builder which is a great tool for beginners because it lets you test most of the functions and prototype your application. When you're done, Vision Builder will build the LabVIEW code for you. If all else fails, go to www.ni.com/ask and email us some example images. We might be able to build some example programs for you. (no promises, though)

  • Best CS2 Illustrator Book

Been using Appleworks for years on Macs. Time has come to learn Illustrator. I just installed
CS2 on my iMac G5 running OSX 10.4.11. I'm hoping someone can recommend the best book to help me learn Illustrator.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lenny.

Real World Illustrator book by Mordy Golding is excellent and the way Mordy writes and describes the steps they are easy and intuitive feeling when you try to follow them. Not art all mysterious as many books on learning applications are written.
He also has a site with many interesting techniques and tutorials.

  • Made The Switch!  Any Good Books To Help A PC Vet?

Anyone know of any good books to read up on to get used to the Mac? Ive been a pc guy forever and would like a "guide" to ease me into the Mac lifestyle.

Yes I would recommend getting Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: Peachpit Learning Series (Paperback)
by Robin Williams. Amazon is currently selling it and I'm sure you can find it on e Bay too. The link to Amazon is here.
Also the links that were provided are excellent and a great starting place.
I bought her Leopard book a couple of years ago and found it invaluable when I was making the switch.

  • Finding illustrated books

I'm having trouble finding illustrated books. In my case it's cook books, but the problem could relate to most reference, coffee table, or children's books.
Cook books are pretty useless without photos. I understand that the decision to include them or not is the publisher's, not Apple's, but the point is that I can't see how to tell whether or not a particular book has them. Downloading a sample doesn't help, because nine times out of ten I only get to see the acknowledgements and contents pages, not a sample of actual content.
While samples that show you what the book is actually like would be the ideal, I'd at least expected that books with illustrations would be labelled as such in the store (actually both would be good, then I wouldn't bother downloading samples when there are no pictures).
At the moment I'm thinking the book store is great for fiction, but hopeless for books that need richer content, and am tempted to give up and go back to paper books
Sadly the problem isn't exclusive to Apple; the Kindle store is just as bad. In fact it's worse, because the description you see is often from the paper book, mentioning illustrations, while in fact the Kindle version has none.
Does anyone know of a good way to find illustrated books, short of buying and taking pot luck?
    Mark

I'm not sure what you are specifically looking for but each product page on OTN(e.g http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev ) has links to sample code, tech papers, 'how to' notes etc.

  • Book recommendation for Content Networking?

    Hi,
Is there any books outhere on cisco CSS, GSS for a good readup?
I know there's a whole lot of docs fr univercd, but was wondering if there are actually books on these products?
    Thanks.

Thank you for your book recommendation. This sounds like an excellent book for learning Flash. From the description on Amazon, the emphasis of this book is on learning Flash with just a little information about ActionScript 3. Perhaps there is enough ActionScript 3 information in this book to get a good foundation with ActionScript, to learn the terminology and syntax?
