Any iPhone 3G screen capturing software avilable?

NO! I dont mean capturing a still image! I mean I want to to be able to control and see the iPhone screen om my computer and record what I do as a video file. Like what you see on some iPhone training videos.
thanx.

cerealz - known issue when upgrading to 3.0.
3.1.2 seems to have fixed it, but it wipes out wifi connectivity. See this thread:

Over 1300 posts with same problem. I think I might have found a $.99 fix at another discussion board. (There are multiple discussions out there !!) See page 89 of above mentioned thread - see my post at end.

  • Video Screen Capture Software

Does anyone have any advice on their favorite screen capture software? I've done some searches and seen reference to a few types (iShowU, CaptureIt!, ScreenFlow, etc.). There are a bunch of options and I'm not stoked with SnapZ Pro, which I had been using before.
Is there a consensus on the best program or is it more of a favorite flavor thing?
    Thanks,
    Stef

iShowU can do pretty well everything and anything.

  • AVI Screen capture software

A while back someone was looking for screen capture software. I found this free software which works rather well.
    http://www.bobyte.com/

I use both CamStudio and Microsoft's Community Clips.  Both are freeware, and I've had no problem with the quality of the video.
File size is more of an issue -- both applications default to autoadjusting settings during recording to try to maintain the best quality, and I've seen a lot of variance with the file size in the end.  Community Clips isn't very configurable (what you can configure has to be done by editing a profile for Windows Media Encoder) and I haven't been tremendously successful with changing options in CamStudio to limit file size while still maintaining quality.
I've been more successful by paying attention to factors outside of the actual capture software:
    1. Use a lower resolution on my monitor while capturing.  (When I'm working, I like it up at 1920x1200, but turn it much lower for capturing.)
    2. Turn the color scheme down to 16-bit.  (Not a big deal when I'm recording podcasts of programming examples, etc.)
    3. Capture in region mode or application mode, rather than full desktop.
    4. I tend to capture short segments, then put them together in PE.  That way, I can easily re-record a segment and try adjusting it with some small tweaks.
I've only been doing this for a month or so, but these applications have worked pretty well for me for producing content at work.

  • Screen capture software?

My job just became more mobile so they bought me this new
souped up laptop to handle my new challenges...I've always used
Roboscreencapture as my screenshot utility (more versatile than the
Captivate screenshot solution), however it's not only discontinued,
but seemingly no longer available anywhere even as free-ware....So
that brings me to my question - What are you using as a screenshot
solution, for when Captivate's screen-capture utility will not do?
If you're aware of a decent freeware solution for a temporary
    basis, please share...

    Much more.
Personally, I'm very fond of TechSmith's "SnagIt". But it
will set you back about $40. The up side is that it's totally worth
    it.

I can vouch for both those suggestions :)

  • Video Screen Capture Software and FCP

I am shooting a video and need to incorporate some video screen capture software. There will be an audio overlay, so I do not need to record audio simultaneously while recording. I will be encoding with H.264.
    What should I use?
    Thank You!

iShowU and ScreenFlow are too very popular capture utilities.
    I prefer the latter.

  • What screen capture software is available to Mac users?

I'm considering buying a Mac to produce online presentations.
I've seen screen capture software from Camtassia and Screenflow.
Camtassia seems most popular with PC community but what do they (we currently) know?
I've heard that there's a screen capture tool within Mountain Lion is that true?

Thanks Grant. It sounds as though I can safely buy a Mac without worrying about software

  • Aperture cannot import iPhone 3G screen captures

I have no problem importing regular pictures from the iPhone camera roll into Aperture. All software is the latest version. However I cannot import screen captures from the iPhone. In Aperture's import window, there is a dotted line in a square shape outlining where the screenshot should be, but no image appears and the box can't be selected.

Actually the box can be selected, but you won't be able to see it. I have the iPod touch and the operations are pretty much identical. Any images in that Saved Images folder on the touch or iPhone can be imported into an Aperture Library.
Bring them all in, then delete what you don't need. Then, on the iPhone, go into the folder and delete all of the images, otherwise the next time, they will all be available and, if imported, you will have duplicates.
I guess the way to think about it might be to imagine what a roll of film was like: we could not see the photos, but had a fair idea (on a single roll -- not a major shoot) what we had on there.

  • Looking for good screen capture software

I'm helping re-do part of our campus website and I'd like to do some tutorials that involve screen captures and videos much like the Apple "How To" videos for the iPods and Mac OSX.
Do any of you have any recommendations? I've seen a program called MacCapture for $29 but wanted to see if anyone has either used it, or has a better recommendation.
    Thanks!
    JG

I like SnapzPro the best for this purpose.

  • Podcast Publisher in OS x lion crashes every time I try to do any video or screen capture?

I'm new to Podcast Publisher on 10.7. I've used Podcast capture and producer in 10.6 along with a server. I cannot get Podcast Publisher to work much at all. I've recorded video or screencasts and it will spin and eventually crash. Trying to open video or screencasts that were previously recorded results in a crash as well. Audio seems to work just fine. Any thoughts?

Podcast Producer requires OSX Server and I'm afraid I can't advise on that. You could ask in the Mac OS X Lion Server forum.

  • What is best screen capture for video to be edited in FCP?

    Hello:
I need to add some video from a client's website to include in a video being edited in ye olde FCP 7.
The rest of the video is ProRes 422.
Is there a screen capture software package that can capture in a compatible format and be high resolution enough?
I have looked at ScreenFlow and Camtasia for Mac but they don't have much info on their sites about video specs.
Client wants to capture a webcast and show the video in context of the website it plays on.
I could just shoot the screen with my HD camera but I'm hoping there is something better out there.
Oh - and yes... I have thought of cheating it.... superimposing the original video into a screen grab of the website but the client doesn't have the original video.
    Thanks for any info.

I've been using Camtasia recently and there's a 30 day trial
    http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw6J2eBRCpqaW0857k9p4BEiQAWar YbCmQ3HIjSWIUtIo6lldJhPTa488h8EmZlSh6hpLHdHIaAqYQ8P8HAQ
And you can record the entire screen or choose just a smaller area.  Great for capturing video on a website

  • Screen Capture Solution, and/or HD Recording

I am part of the video conferencing group at a university.  Aside from broadcasting classes, we also archive them and provide media recording solutions for faculty and staff.  In the past, we have used the Flash Media Live Encoder to record A/V streams, and later host them on our Flash Media Server for later viewing.
Increasingly though, our professors have been requesting a way to capture their Powerpoints/Documents/Etc. off of the computer in full resolution while they are teaching the class, and having the standard video image of their lecture attached to it in some way.  We have tried using Sonic Foundry's MediaSite device, and while it gets the job done (simultaneously records audio, video, and computer screen), it is tedious to work with, as it uses it's own proprietary player.  What we really need is something that records one large FLV file, with the video image overlayed on top of the computer image at high resoution.
Now, does Adobe have any software/hardware that can capture all three, whether it integrates with Captivate or is stand-alone?  If not, then is there a way to get the Flash Media Live Encoder to record at HD resolutions? (if there is, we have PiP equipment that can feed two video sources simultaneously)  Right now, the max resolution our Encoder will record at is 720x576.

You can try with free screen capture softwares like :
    UScreen Capture
    VHScreen Capture
    Camtasia
Also there are many device which can do this like Vision RGB, Epiphan etc.
These devices gets listed in FMLE as anyother normal video device. For audio you van attach any mike on your computers and can use the sound card of your system in audio device list.
These devices lets you capture HD video at maximum 10 FPS depending upon your machine hardware capabilities but i think this FPS is more tha sufficient for power point slides and presentations.
Also please keep bitrates little bit high because of high size video.
Please let me know if this works for you.

  • Screen Capture and Recording

Anyone have any recommendations for Screen Capture/Recording software that is compatible with MAC. I would like to build some tutorials to illustrate some recording techniques using Logic Pro and need something that can record my steps visually and then be importable into Garage Band or iMovie as a movie file so I can layer sound over it.
I am looking at options from cheap to expensive. Any input is appreciated.

  • Way to Get DVD Screen Captures?

    Hi, all!
Since this is my first Mac with a DVD player, I'd like to try and get some screen captures from some of my fave DVDs with it. It doesn't seem possible with the software it came with-I tried the Grab tool, but it doesn't work while the DVD player is going.
Any good Mac screen capture programs out there that anyone can recommend to me? Or is there a way to do it without installing new software, and I'm just missing it?
    Thanks!
    Sue

Thanks, guys!!! I've been trying out the CaptureMe, works like a charm! The Widget goes all wonky, for some reason, but thanks anyway!
Re: the copyright issue: thanks for the warning, don't worry, I'll be good!
I also recommended CM to my sister, but all of her captures so far have turned out black. She's on a iBook 600 using OS X 1.5.1. Could she have some sort of capture-blocking feature on there (she bought the laptop used from eBay several years ago)? Or is there another problem?
