Any issues with clean install of Lion having Creative Cloud installed

I am going from Snow Leopard to Lion and want to do a clean install. I would assume that I deactivate the software before the install which will allow me to download and reinstall all Creative Cloud apps. Is this correct or are there other issues I need to be aware of - thanks.

You are correct.

  • Issues with clean install of Snow Leopard in Leopard MacBook

    Hi all,
This is the sequence of events:
    1) MacBook from 2007, running Leopard.
    2) Got Snow Leopard, did the install on top of the existing OS, just as an "update".
    2) After machine restarts, several issues were detected, apparently all OS related: Finder crashed, Apple Mail didn't even open, etc.
    3) Download software update from Apple.com (for "performance improvement"). Installer itself crashes!! Can't install update.
    4) Decided to go for a clean install with complete restore of hard drive
    5) Put in Snow Leopard DVD, boot from it, erase and format hard drive. Got a "Can´t install... contact the manufacturer" error.
    6) Don't have my original Leopard OS DVDs at hand at the moment, but will try that later.
Question is: to do a clean install, after restoring the hard drive, do I need to install Leopard first, and only after that Snow Leopard?
(I tried installing Leopard from the DVDs of another MacBook (2008), that didn´t work either. I gather it could be small hardware differences, so I'm still hopeful for when I try with my original restore DVDs...)
Any help will be greatly appreciated!! I mean, this is was supposed to be a no-brainer... :-/

    1. You have some peripheral or RAM that is not compatible with the installation.
See my FAQ*: http://www.macmaps.com/badram.html if there are no peripherals attached. You need a minimum of 1 GB of RAM to install Snow Leopard.
    1. No peripherals. RAM is only what came with original machine. Have 2GB.

    2. Will verify this later with the original installation CDs. It would be bad news... my MAC was running completely fine before Snow Leopard!!

    3. You are using the wrong installer disc. For a 2007 machine, only a copy of Snow Leopard which looks like * that does not say Upgrade or DropIn or OEM will work.
    3. I have an Install DVD, just like that one.
Thanks a lot for the input! Greatly appreciated.

  • Re: Satellite U305-S7477 - issue with clean install from recovery disks

Im trying to do a clean OS install of Vista onto a new hard drive, the install runs correctly but at the end, instead of it requesting me to create a user id and password as the machine does at first boot up when new, it shows a login for administrator with a message that the administrator account has been disabled, and another to input a pre-existing user name and password, which I do not have since this is a clean install.
Does Toshiba want me to only run the recovery on top of a pre-existing OS install? That would be quite a limitation, and would prevent one from recovering their machine after a hard drive dies.
Any thoughts? I did look thru the docs for a default password, but if it's there I didn't find it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello
To be honest your issue is strange to me. The fact is, for operating system installation you can use either Microsoft installations DVD or Toshiba recovery DVD. In both cases when installation is almost done you must enter your username and password (optional). There is no difference at all.
I have done recovery installation many times under WXP and Vista. No difference at all. Username must be entered always and I didnt notice such issue as described in your posting.
So please try to install OS again and be careful with each installations step. All recovery installations images are tested and I cannot imagine Toshibas people can oversight something like this.

I want to buy a new Macbook pro 15", but I don't like Lion, I want Leopard installed, is there any issues with drivers or any other I should be aware of?

Hello, I've tried Lion from the day they released to last week I got my computer formated and with leopard again, on my iMac 24" from early 2009 2.9 Ghz core 2 duo, and I have installed 8 Gb of memory, and i have some complains about it, there are some cosmetic issues but mostly I'm concerned about issues bellow the hood, as I'm a stock trader and I depend completly from my computer's performance, let me explain:
    Superficial issues:
    1. They took off "spaces" and I liked it.
    2. I dont use the magic mouse, I need a more accurate mouse for my charts, and it seems they built the entire OS assuming you would use the magic mouse for gestures, scroll, etc to try to mimic in some way the Ipad and Iphone functions, but what if you arent using it like me?
    3. I never used that little rocket icon that makes all your apps appear and that could be one of the "improvements on Lion", at first sight it looks nice and slick, but if you try to use it and make it part of your daily use, you would find it is useless, it is a pain to try to arrange it the way you like it, so I rather use the spotlight to search for my apps, its faster.
    Now the MOST important, 'performance':
    1. It completly suffocate my computers hardware Leopard much more lighter, beggining from the start up that taked almost 1/3 or twice the time, and I think Lion has some bugs bellow the hood, i was doing my normal stuff, some apps running and everything, and suddenly I started to feel the computer a little slow, safari taking forever to open the pages for example, and I opened the activity monitor to see what was going on, and it was there, I was using 4 or 5 gb from my memory, and CPU making insane peaks, and Im using 2.46 gb as im writing it doing exactly the same stuff, (but Im happily using Leopard now), and it wasnt once, as i told before, I used lion since the day they released it and happened several times until it drove me nutts. But leopard not problem in that regard at all, Never.
hope this helps, and hope some apple guys read that because lion resulted in a big disappointment for me.

  • I have a MacBook 5,1 (13.3" aluminum from 2007 or 2008). Automatic updates will only let me get to OSX 10.5.8.  Can I upgrade to Snow Leopard, Lion 10.6 or even 10.6.8?  Also, will I have any issues with my iPhone if it's updated to iOS 7.1?

The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.8 Mountain Lion without going through 10.7 Lion with the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody. The Model 5,1 will probably run 10.9 Mavricks when it comes out.
10.8 Mountain Lion is a download from the App Store, the price is $19.99.
Mountain Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.8 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Mountain Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mountain Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • Any issues with having Personalization in Dev and not Production

Hi, I'm wondering if there are any issues with having Personalization configured in our Dev and not Production?  If you run a create a query or Web Template in Dev with personalization and transport it to production which doesn't have personalization will that be a problem?
    Anyone?

It should not be a problem.
Personalization just saves values for a variable in an ODS on the current server. The values don't get saved along with the query, they just reference the query ID (if saved for the query only).
    Hope this helps...

  • Are yo having any issues with mac os x the latest update heres the fix

ok a lot of people have had issues with installing the update via the software update option in mac os x tiger now let me explain something first it is not apples fault they did not expect that tons of people would be downloading this update at once which caused problems
some of the issues people have run into are
1.the cd rom after the update the superdrive or regular super drive will not read cds
2.your photoshop application stops working or any adobe product stops working
now the simple fix is this
go online to apple.com select the download section in the support area of this web page once this is done
go and download the update manually and run the update manually this will correct any issues with the update including cd rom drive errors and even adobe product errors

tiger now let me explain something first it is not
apples fault they did not expect that tons of people

    problems
Since Apple know exactly how many systems are out there, have experienced download demands from previous update releases, they very clearly know the kind of demand there will be when a new update for MacOS is released. The issues with Software Update are nothing to do with this - and indeed, historically there have always appeared to be a small proportion of systems that have not functioned correctly with a MacOS update - a quick perusal of MacFixit going back some years would evidence the fact.
When Software Update downloads the wrong components, it's not volume of traffic that causes it, but that when Software Update examines the specific system, it finds components that cause it to misidentify it.
some of the issues people have run into are
1.the cd rom after the update the superdrive or
regular super drive will not read cds
2.your photoshop application stops working or any
    adobe product stops working
There are many reasons users may suffer these, and similar (and very DISsimilar) issues, not just from the update itself, but prebinding, permissions, system caches, font files, plists....
now the simple fix is this
go online to apple.com select the download section in
the support area of this web page once this is done
go and download the update manually and run the

You omitted to mention WHICH update file to download - which is the critical part of the advice. Users who experience problems with the update as downloaded by Software Update, should download the 10.4.8 'Combi' update file from the apple/support/downloads page. The combi (combined) update contains the entire thing, not just the bits tailored to what Software Update takes to be the specific system. There are two versions of this file - one for PPC systems and one for Intel - it's important of course to select the correct one for the type of system, being used.
People often say that the Combi update fixes their problem when in fact what may well be happening is that by installing the combi update version, it overwrites faulty files (plists for example) that had caused the problem the user experienced. Installing this version of the update can certainly RESOLVE these kind of problems, but is not the only way to do so.
Simple and easy when it works - undoubtedly so.

  • OSX Mavricks - Any issues with Adobe CS?

Just wondering if anybody has been using Mavricks at all and if there are any issues with Adobe CS at all.

Okay, well I can give a good report on this since I installed Mavericks today and am working with InDesign CC...which, as we all know, already has slowness issues. Well, last I tried to do a simple upgrade to Mavericks and was not able to do it! Seems like the Apple Gurus formatted my hard drive in a way they were *not* supposed to when I had them replace the hard drive at the end of last year, after a hard drive recall for the iMac 27"'s...grrr...THANKS Apple Gurus! So I ended up having to wipe the drive before being able to install Mavericks....then imported all my data over and it worked GREAT! (First time I have done this since I used to always prefer a clean insteall and installing everything from scratch but just did NOT have the energy or will to do it this time around! I was IMPRESSED and all worked well!
And now on to the nitty gitty of my post....long story short, everything worked well EXCEPT for InDesign CC which was slooower than EVER. Before the upgrade, I had gotten it to a point where it was ACCEPTABLE to work in speedwise. But now every little keystroke had a HUGE lag...even selecting a tool from the toolbar would take forever. And typing or selecting text....forget it I wanted to put my head in my arms and cry my heart out. I am in the middle of some huge projects and need to get them done.
And yes, I KNOW...I KNOW...I should NOT be doing something so risky as updating my OS when I have so much work to do. BUT I DID take all the precautions and make all necessary backups prior to doing so!! It is just in my BONES and probably in my DNA that sometimes I just cannot wait to do things like these major OS upgrades...otherwise a little inner voice will keep nagging at me...and I won't be able to concentrate on anything else until I get it done...so I just HAD to go ahead and get it done! I REAAAAALLY wanted Mavericks installed!
And now for the GOOD NEWS! After trying everything else I could think of, I reset the ID CC prefs (which should have been the FIRST thing I did!!) by htting CMD-OPTION-CTRL-SHIFT upon starting ID CC and.....suddenly...lo and behold....WOW....suddenly everything had dramatically speeded up in InDesign! EVERYTHING! Text selection, typing, selecting tools and everything else. I have no doubt that most people who are having slowness issues with ID CC have already tried this and are still experiencing slowness issues....but this worked for me today at any rate. I will keep you posted if I experience any more issues after this.
All I know is I am a happy camper and ID CC seems to now be working faster than it has before.
    So...that's my news:)

  • Some issues after clean installing windows 7 pro 64bit

    Hi,
I have a couple of issues, I clean installed windows 7 pro, 64bit, (vanilla) restored my license with ABR and used system update to download all the drivers. (no issues until here) But after restarting the system, I found this issues:
    1. I have to put the bios in legacy mode for system to boot. Otherwise it gives me a "no operating system found" message. Is there any way to make a proper installation for the system to boot in UEFI and LEGACY?
    2. System update didn't install thinkvantage center. (the program that stays in the taskbar). Should this be installed manually? Or system update should have installed it?
3*. I can not use lenovo driver page of my x120e. In IE it shows me repeatedly the wizard to choose my model, although I enter the correct info there. It starts all over again and again. Tried opera, I can see the drivers page, but I can't browse, or expand none of the sections. (all I can think of this, do I need java for the page to work?)
3*. UPDATE: After installing IE 9, java and flash player, still not working. Opera too. Google Chrome works fine.           What's the matter with IE and OPERA? What component do I need to make IE work with lenovo drivers download page?
Can anyone help me? Never had to deal with these issues.
    Thanks in advance

  • Any issues with using LDAP on LINUX for GRC 5.2 UME?

Our company is converting our LDAP servers from AIX to LINUX.  The DNS name used in our UME connection should not change.  Are there any issues with using LDAP on LINUX?  We are currently on GRC 5.2 SP9 (in the middle of upgrading to SP12).
Also, I have been trying to connect our test UME system to a test LDAP box that has already been converted to LINUX but keep getting a 'connection failed' error when I try to test it.
Do you have to reboot the server to test changing the LDAP connections?  I've been trying it by going into UME, pulling up the LDAP tab, hitting the Modify button, entering the new userid and password for test LDAP, and hitting the Test Connection button.  I've verified that this userid and password is correct for test LDAP.
Is there a way to get more information about why the connection failed?
    Thanks.

I've been told by our LDAP Support group that none of the other configuration settings should have to be changed.  I should only have to change the id and password to connect to a test version of LDAP instead of our regular connection to the production LDAP.
Can you test a connection for a different userid/password without having to reboot/restart the server?  Do I need to change these two settings, save then, reboot/restart, and then do the Test Connection button?
    Thanks.
