Any known issues with Unicode apps in System 9 Analytic Services ?

We have installed System 9.2.0.2 Analytic Services on an AIX server. It was installed as a non-Unicode server. I am exploring enabling the server for Unicode, and then setting non-ASO apps to Unicode enabled. We don't need multi-lingual features, but we would like to be able to have calc scripts, report scripts, and load rules with names more than 8 characters long. Apparently, during the planning for upgrading to System 9, a consultant advised against setting Unicode on. But no specifics were given on why he advised against it. Is anyone aware of any downsides to Unicode enabled ? I know that ASO apps can't use it, but the server is supposed to support having some apps running in Unicode mode and others not. It's understood that if you have a Unicode app, and it needs to switch to ASO, that any long names would require name changes. The thing I'm wondering is why that consultant said that, so I wonder if anyone knows of issues. If no issues are known, than can anyone who is running Unicode mode in System 9.2 speak up and tell me that they are doing fine with no issues ?

I'm afraid a new SSD won't be different from your bad USB stick. I had similar issues over USB with both a (no-brand) stick and TWO 64gb Kingston SSDNow's (running Kubuntu 12.04 with Kernel 3.11, ia_64): it all runs exceptionally well (wanna know how it feels like booting in 5 sec?) for a few days - then suddenly you find yourself facing that dreaded (initramfs) prompt. You ask yourself: why? Did I upgrade grub lately? Did I upgrade the Kernel? I don't recall so. Ok, let's fix this... insert favorite live cd, boot, fsck...what???? THOUSANDS of errors??? Hundreds of files and directories corrupted, and the system is unusable - Reinstall everything from scratch onto another drive.
Rinse and repeat: did this 3 times. Then I found this analysis:

I also suspect USB power interrupts more abruptly than SATA power, at shutdown - basically aggravating any power interruption damages. So now I'm going to:
- buy an Intel S3500!
- add commit=1 to my mount options in /etc/fstab
- edit shutdown procedure to add a 5-10 sec pause after unmounting drives.

Are there any known issues with 64 bit Essbase and other components (Planning, EAS, Provider services, EAS, Workspace and Reporting) in 32 bit?
Version is EPM 11.1.1.3
The reason for choosing ESSBASE 64 bit is of course performance. We decided to stick to 32 bit for the web applications due to some known issues and bitter experiences in past in this version with 64 bit web deployments.
OS is Windows 2003 Server (64 bit for the ESSBASE server and 32/64 bit for the application server)

Are you gaming or watching videos when the unit heats up? As your core temperatures rise, it's normal for the fans to speed up - but if you're not running any CPU/GPU intensive apps, it's not normal for your MBP to heat up or for the fans to run high. Download the free iStat Pro widget and either record or take a screen shot of your temps and fans speeds. Oh, and your MBP should not heat up just because you're using the power adapter.

Are there any known issues with accessing encrypted columns via a database link that is masked by a synonym?
We are experiencing unexpected results when the encrypted column is anti-joined through a not exists, to a local encrypted column of the same datatype The encrypted columns are person ids. If the expected person id is hard coded, the results return correctly. The local database is 10.2.0.4.0 and the link is to a 10.2.0.3.0 RAC.
Both enrollments and person_ids, below, are synonyms to the linked tables.

It works fine in Firefox but loads forever in explorer 8...
The cause of the problem is not the same.
In your case it takes forever to load the thumbnails from flickr.com; the SpryDataSets without the loading of the thumbnails works as expected.
Remember that ALL of the thumbnails for each 60 odd projects are downloaded from flickr, that is about 1800 thumbnails.

Animation I was working on that had been performing in browser fine suddenly stopped working, and was not related to any action I had done at that point. Also was working in it today and program stopped responding to key board short cut commands.

I am having a whole slew of odd interface problems with a fresh 2014.1.1 on a fresh macbook pro with latest Yosemite. Program locks up, cursor selections don't show, things disappear. I have a mac mini also and the program runs fine on it. Is there possibly something related to the solid state hard drive in new macs?

Are there any known issue with the HP 3005pr USB 3 replicator ?

Hi,
I recently ordered an HP laptop Pavilion dv6t-7000 with Intel i7 and nVidia video. While the unit isn't due to arrve for about 2 weeks, I'm looking for a docking station/port replicator.
Are there any known issues with the HP 3005pr USB 3 replicator ? Does it fully support Win7 64 bit? I am also considering the Targa U3 unit, but I'd prefer HP if I can be assured that it works.
I'd like to be able to leave the laptop closed when at my desk so I can use an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Does HP make this device or does a 3rd party make it for them?
I've read so many stories on various forums regarding these things.
Any suggestions from HP or others? I need to order something soon, but I don't want head aches when it arrives.

Are there any known issues with the latest update to iTunes on Windows 7 maxing out the processor and nearly bringing the system to a hault.

Has anyone experienced an issue with the latest update to iTunes (11.2.0.115) for Windows where iTunes pegs out the processor at 97%, 98%, and holds there for maybe 15 minutes before dropping to 50%. During that time, the system is basically useless. You just have to ride it out. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

As a testing purpose long time back i did this. I did this step by step
I installed SCOM 2007R2 with SQL server 2008 with SP1 initially.
Then upgraded to 2008 SP2.
Then upgraded to 2008 SP3
Then upgraded to 2008 R2.
Then upgraded to 2008 R2 SP1
Finally to SP2
I dint find any issue.
I just kept on adding service packs upon each other. Except for upgradation to 2008 to 2008 r2 i used the installation media then the SP1 & SP2 files. to upgrade to service packs.
If you want to go to directly SP2 i would suggest you install SP1 and then install SP2.
Every thing is fine in the LAB equipment i tried this.

Any known issues with HCM 9.2.006 PUM image?

I am facing issue with the HCM 9.2 Demo image. It tries to create the virtual disks. When its creating the 4th disk, it hangs after creating about 10GB.
Is there any workaround for this issue or re-downloading will help? I have downloaded it a week back.

Your title has a question that I'll answer below. (Then you describe an issue that I'm not sure is impacted by either of these issues.)
One is unique to OVM and occurs when there are more than 4 disks. The default mode is PVM and that only supports 4 disks. So it is necessary to edit the VM to use PVM drivers AND SAVE, since PVM will support more than 4 disks. (I believe this was documented in the installation notes.) Note: if you simply view the configuration ***but do not save it with the PVM selected***, you loose the 5th disk. Recover by re-importing the template.
The second issue is related to the swap volume. There was a bug where the swap was attempted to be mounted by label and the label was incorrect, hence no swap. That is fixed in bug 18546213. The fix is to mount SWAP-VM as the swap volume in /etc/fstab.

Any known issues with updating to the Windows 8.1 RTM?

The Windows 8.1 RTM is finally on MSDN. I was looking to run the update and wanted to see if anyone has upgraded and see if anyone has seen any issues with CC.

In case anybody else is using Windows 8.1 on 3200 x 1800 resolution and experiencing the same problem, I think I may have found a workaround. At least on this laptop (Dell XPS15) I can right
-click on the EDQ application in the Start Menu and choose to Run with graphics processor / High - performance (NVIDIA) processor. This appears to render the EDQ canvas with sympathetically sized fonts making the processes, and the attributes within processors, readable again.
I would be interested to hear if anybody has some Java font parameter that can be set to control the font size on Java applications, but for now the problem I had appears to be solved.
