Is there any known problem using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 with Java 1.7?
I have already downloaded Java 1.6 but don't know whether I need to uninstall Java 1.7 first. If don't need to uninstall Java 1.7, how can I set Oracle SQL Developer to run with Java 1.6?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
One prior post discussing the use of Java 7 is:
SQL Developer 3.0  and Java SE 7?
There is no need to uninstall any Java version (except if you have disk space constraints) and no problem switching between Java versions. This may be controlled in the sqldeveloper.conf file in your ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin directory via the SetJavaHome line. For example:
    #SetJavaHome ../../jdk
    SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_26
    #SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0Regards,

  • Any known problems w Win7 updates in either Bootcamp or Parallels?

I have been running Win7 I think 32 bit in Bootcamp & w Bootcamp set up as a vm in Parallels 5 on my April 2010 MacBookPro w Snow Leopard latest update.
I have decided to update to Mountain Lion which meant I needed to either upgrade Parallels or just go to using Bootcamp which is a pain w having to re-boot.
Got an offer for a Parallels upgrade from ver 5 to ver 8 so decided to take it. I also have downloaded Mountain Lion.
I have not been using Windows very much in the last year + so had not thought to run Windows updates although I did keep the Security Essentials updated.
But I figured that before doing the upgrades that I should have my existing setup updated. So I ran Windows updates & saw some going back as far as Dec 2011. After restarting a few times & closed it & was on the Mac side & tried to start Parallels Parallels opened but when I selected my Bootcamp vm, I got an error message saying the version of Windows is not supported by Bootcamp. Huh? I just ran the updates which should not have changed the version. I think I had also updated Bootcamp which I had avoided doing since I had read of some problems w that & Parallels & I had had major problems in early 2011 that we never did figure out, but Genius bar ended up replacing logic board, HD & bracket &told me to only gradually install what had been on there besides Apple software.
So I went ahead & shut down & tried to start up in Bootcamp. About half the time since it gives me a message that it couldn't start normally & asks if I want to fix it. I've been saying no. 1 time it got stuck tryig to fix it so I finally had to power down.
Parallels suggested doing a clean install when I asked about it. I did not feel comfortable adding new updates to software that is not stable.
I am also I think going to get rid of the Bootcamp partition (which I had wanted to make the windows part smaller rather than 50 50.)
But I'm concerned now about when I do reinstall Windows7 (which I'll likely have to call Microsoft about since they may think it is a not allowed additional installation. Not sure whether I've gotten my 2 installations since the last time or not.) Whether I will get the same problem if I do run the updates? But I know they have a lot of security updates that are supposed to be installed, but something messed up my system & I don't want to have that again.
On another but related note, since I will be doing some major changes I'm backing everything up. But I never have got the hang on the file structure in Win7. So I ran Windows backup using the default which shows that it backedup files in libraries & personal folders for all users. Would that include my Outlook data & emails? Most of that has already been gotten over to the mac side--although they did me a disservice I guess it was when I was switching from Win mobile phone which I synced to Outlook to my iPhone 4S. Apple store didn't pay attention that I was switching from a PDA phone & I should have 1st synced my iPhone to Outlook & then synced it to my Mac applications. Instead they just transferred the phone info like Verizon would do which is really lame for someone already using a smart phone. I lost my contact pictures & other info  got messed up.

ran windows7 ultimate 64bit under lion bootcamp without problems at all
    updated to mtn lion
and ran windows8 pro in VirtualBox which is a free alternativ to parallels without problems at all
updated the windows 7 to windows 8 in bootcamp
because it's still using the win7 drivers sometimes it fail to boot and reboots but it always get up the 2ed time
and once inside win8 it have yet to crash
and yes windows update should include all application data which include outlook stuff and windows live mail stuff too if you use that

  • Cannot open any pdf or delete or update old adobe reader

I am having the same issues as MANY others.  Obviously Adobe has been corrupted or hacked.  DAYS of this already.  Cannot open pdf files or any other downloads.  Errors of all sorts come up when trying to update or delete and re-download.  Why can't you fix this issue already??  Work needs to be done, many are time sensitive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I just check that you are running the latest services pack for Windows XP (SP3)?  There is also a repair option for Adobe Reader, which under Windows XP can be found at Control Panel->Add Remove Programs.  If you try that, it might clean up something that has somehow become corrupted.  Finally, the Adobe Labs site has a cleaner (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html), which will clean Adobe Reader 9 and X (but not XI I believe).  Depending on your version you might try that.  If you use the cleaner, uninstall Reader first, run it and then reinstall reader.
I'll check back on the forum to see if this helped.
    Thanks,
    Matthew

I followed the FAQ troubleshooting and that didn't help

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Any known problems with Gnome 2.28 before I update?

Hi, I would like know is there any known problems with Gnome 2.28?
I read that there are a login/logout time increased, something else?
    Thanks in advance!

when I upgraded to 2.28, icons in the menu appeared and I'm not able to disable them... other than that gnome 2.28 seems fine to me.

  • Firefox or Adobe will not allow downloading useable PDF files anymore. Started with last update of Adobe/Firefox.

For the last few days, I think it was after an update in Firefox or an update in Adobe reader, I cannot save a PDF file from the web and then open it with either Adobe Reader or PDFlite.
The file opens and I can read it just fine within Firefox using Adobe Reader, I guess as a plug in.
But if I save the file as a PDF it saves just fine, with a PDF extension, but when I try to read the PDF file with Adobe or PDFlite it gives an error message - "Adobe Reader could not open <filename> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
I download a lot of datasheets so this is suddenly a major problem for me.
    Thanks - Don

Hi Don, there might not be an advantage for you if Adobe works well for you. There are some articles on the motivation for developing a non-proprietary PDF reader -- which is definitely a work-in-progress -- but I don't have the references handy.
Let me tackle some of those individual items:
    (1) Unknown publisher warning. This is odd, do you notice that with any other downloads?
It might be a feature of Windows download security. By default, Firefox marks downloads as having come from the internet. You can turn that off by turning off Firefox's antivirus integration. Your real-time AV software still will check files once they are downloaded; this feature is really for people who do not have full-time AV, only on-demand AV.
    To toggle that setting:
    (i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful. This is Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''scan''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone''' to switch it from true to false. You're done with about:config.
    Does that affect the warning?
    (2) Where do you see "Save as PDF"?
I have "Save Page As" on the menu. That worked when I tried a simple PDF. By worked I mean it opened without complaint in Adobe Reader. I suspect it's doing the same thing as the download button.

  • Updating eMac from 10.4.0 to 10.4.10: any known problems

We bought my wife a late-generation eMac from the Apple refurb site about 18 months ago. that came with Tiger 10.4.0. Because it's been so stable (we can't remember a single failure) and my wife is nearly always using her computer, I never applied the OS updates.
Now she's traveling for two weeks and I'm retired, so I'm considering taking her Tiger installation to the top (we'll wait to see if Leopard in in the budget)
I know with some older version of OSX, there was a order issue with SW Updates. Example: some Beige G3s had problems if the 10.2.8 Combo Update was run on a system with the base install (10.2.3). They needed "stepping in" (base > 10.2.4 > 10.2.6 Combo > 10.2.8 Combo) to work properly.
I know to run Repair permissions before and after any SW update. Any known problems with taking a late eMac all the way with the 10.4.10 Combo updater? I'd hate from her to home home to a problematic computer!
As the computer in my equipment line below is not hers, here are the particulars for her computer:
    eMac ATI graphics 1.42G—512MB RAM—80G HD—combo drive—10.4.zero
    Thanks in advance,
    Allan

I recently updated my eMac from Panther (10.3.x) to Tiger and let it go ahead and update by downloading the 10.4.10 patch from Apple. It has been some weeks now and so far no issues to report. So it seems ok. And my eMac is a version before yours.

  • My daughter has 2 websites she can not fully access because the iPad won't download updates for Adobe. What is Apple doing to solve this problem?

My daughter has 2 websites she can not fully access because the iPad won't download updates for Adobe. What is Apple doing to solve this problem?

Flash has been used for more than just displaying videos. The Vote choice your daughter found is one of those flash type sites that will not display on iOS devices. There are now over 100 million iPads, and who knows how many more iPhones out there. Developers who want their content to display on all these devices will have to move away from the old Flash technology.
There were some version of Flash that ran on other brands of tablets. But Adobe has stopped all development of Flash for all mobile devices. As time goes on and mobile operating systems evolve the no Apple devices will lose their ability to run Flash too. Web developers need to move on to cleaner, more efficient types of programming.

  • I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader when prompted. Since then I cannot use Safari File Print to print web pages - the printer dialogue window opens but the page is blank. Also, when I try to use the safari Help button, the dialogue box is blank.

I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader update when prompted. Since then I cannot use Safari>File>Print to print web pages - the printer dialogue window opens, but the page remains blank. Also when I try to use the Safari Help button, the dialogue box opens but remains infuriatingly blank. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
