Any Level of Phase One Support?

Does Aperture provide any level of Phase One support? Right now, we use MediaPro and are considering moving off of it. We just use it as an image DB. So, it holds file location, EXIF data, thumbnails, and tags that we enter. If we go that same support from Aperture, that would be fine for now. We could continue to use Capture One for RAW processing.
Thanks,
Gary

The Phase 1 RAW format is pretty wacky. To get speed out of it, it's actually 2 sensors that take a picture at once, and then the images are joined using an algorithm which is customized to each camera (based on testing Phase 1 does at assembly).
It's tricky, and until LR 1.2 LR didn't support it either (well, there was "experimental" support which led to some images being good, others being bad).
Anyway, it's a resources and expense issue, I'd assume. Be sure to submit feedback via the official mechanism in addition to just noting it here.

  • Does LR5 FULLY support Phase One P65+ Raw files?

    Hello,
I know the files are "supported", and will open. However, the quality is quite bad and nowhere near as good as opening the same file in Capture One. Also, long exposure shots see the "black frame" totally discarded and the images are extremely noisy. Phase One support say it's because LR and CS6 are only using a portion of the Raw file and to ask Adobe.
I would migrate to LR5 today if there were a fix or an explanation. Capture One forkflow doesn't suit me. However, the quality is just too bad to accept.
    Any ideas?

    Enrico.

  • Exporting Phase One Camera Files

    I'm confused...
It showed in the Richard Burbridge using a Phase One back in the demo.
I can't get any of our Phase One raw files to export larger than the 72ppi. I'm I doing something wrong?
    Hollis

Hi Hollis, welcome to the forum.
Aperture doesn't support RAW files from any MF back (yet?) - what you are getting is based on an embedded thumbnail.
I guess that the video cheated somewhat by having Capture One doing the converting and dropping the results into a hot folder to import that into Aperture.

  • Phase One RAW file support needed

Full support for Phase One files would be nice.
If you plug in a CF card containing Phase One RAW files, Lightroom pretends to import them but it only imports the thumbnails. The work around is to download the CF card files to the hard drive and then ask Lightroom to import the folder. Once this folder is in Lightroom you can then ask for DNG conversion. It's a bit of a pain to say the least. I expect it's Phase Ones fault for chosing .tif as the extension for it's RAW files.
    Any better workarounds out there?
    Damien.
PS: I love Lightroom and welcome further development.

maybe i was doing something wrong, but i had no problem working with p20 and p45 raw files in lightroom. i did not import them from a cf card, though, as they were already on a hard drive.

Is this the app you're referring to?

As you'll note it's made by Presselite and that page has a link to their support.
Also, you'll find it best not to post questions about iPhone apps in the AppleWorks forum. Best to contact the makers of the app.

  • Phase One P25

I am completely confused. LR has claimed that they support Phase One P25 with the release of v1.1, however after recently purchasing a P25 non-plus series, I am unable to import the RAW files. Typically the files come across as a small Tiff image even when the come off the card directly. I have been using LR since its been in beta and the idea of using Capture One makes me cringe especially fine tuning my work flow within LR and loving it to say the least! Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Moving forward, Phase One believes they have such a superior product with Capture One they will not address any problems with LR, per a regional manager. Must be nice to be that good...NOT!

I did thanks however I'm still feel my question is has been unanswered. It doesn't appear that there is a solution for the problem either.

  • Phase One .capture files

    Hello
According to the Camera Raw readme file Phase One files should be supported. But I cannot get this to work. I have a bunch of .capture files shot with a P25 - but neither Bridge, ACR 4.4.1 or Lightroom 1.4.1 knows what to do with these files.
What's wrong? Aren't the .capture files supported after all?
    (I'm on a Mac Pro, Leopard, CS3)

Peter, as Thomas said, even with the .TIF extension they are indeed raw files. Ive never had any issues with either P25 or now P25+ flies opening in CR or LR.
Perhaps a bit more info would be helpful are you seeing any previews in Bridge or just a generic file icon? Have you tried purging the cache in Bridge? Any error messages popping up?
Ive never shot tethered so I suppose there could be something happening in C1 but it would seem unlikely that it would alter the original raw file.

  • Phase One Plus Backs

I had no problems working with my Phase One P30 loaner back. All files woulkd open in Camera RAW 4.1 (Windows XP). I just rec'd my Plus back this afternoon and find that it is not yet supported. Any idea of when the Plus backs will be supported?
    Thanks in advance
    Don

Once you have used Phase One's RAW processor you won;t go back to photo shop... For $79 to $450 depending upon which version you need you can solve the problem.
The expensive one is only fully utilized with a mac wired up to the camera back during capture... the LE does most of the necessary things for $79 to $99... you need version 3.7 to be up to date. 4 is coming soon.

  • Imacon, Phase One MF digital backs

I love Aperture, but, if Apple labels it like the tool for _Professional Photographers_ I think it must have an ability to understand raws from digital backs. Moreover, it says it supports DNG (Adobe), but DNG from Leica only draws a small preview inside Aperture, no full image file. And it must have tethered shooting support instead of automatic import via scripting! Otherwise it's just a wonderful rating utility with nice controls and (I believe in it blindly) cool raw conversion.

Phase One backs are the most used high end digital back for professional photographers who need the format and quality that they produce and blow away any file that is produced by a Canon 1DS MK11.... i have both and use both extensively.... each for different types of job.
But Phase One makes you use Capture One software (which they also sell for use with Canon cameras etc) They probably won't let Apple into their closed file system...... keep revenue for them to sell the software upgrades etc. The latest Capture One version 5 is a dog's dinner and Aperture 2 blew it away as an editing and organisational tool.... Ap 3 takes this even further......

  • Phase One .IIQ/.TIF

    HI everyone,
I'm having a problem with Phase One .IIQ and .TIF raws from a H20 back importing into LIghtroom 2.6.  When I import using the .IIQ suffix the import stops with an error and no images are imported.  When I switched the suffix to .TIF, images import but only as thumbnails.
The H20 is a supported camera according to ACR documentation.
I am able to import .IIQ files from a Phase One P25+ back just fine.
I would be grateful for any help.
    Best regards
    G.A.

Which specific back are you using?
Given that you have a ColorChecker chart, have you considered building a custom profile using the DNG Profile Editor?

  • Phase One Raw File have lines in them (Lightroom 2.1 ACR 5.1)

when importing Phase One P25 raw files, Lightroom is displaying tin lines across the image. those lines are not appearing in any of the Capture one Software 3.7 4.1 or 4.5 I guess ACR is not reading the Digital Back Calibration Data. I am managing thousands of Images in Lightroom and I don't want to move back to Capture one as it is very limited in terms of its meta data management and no spot removal yet.
if I convert the Raw file (IIQ Small or Large) to DNG using Capture one then Lightroom reading the DNG file without the Lines but the file size is 44MB instead of 15MB of the IIQ Small (Phase One Raw Format). obviously duplicating all my images to DNG Quadrupling disk space is not something I want to add to my workflow.
Adobe, can you improve the way you read the Phase One Raw Files?
I use Phase One P25 Digital Back with the latest firmware 3.6 , Windows XP 32 and 64bit and Lightroom 2.1 (this problem appears on all Lightroom Versions including 1.4,2.0,2.1)
I can send to adobe some Raw File Example or assist in any way I can to find a solution.
    Please Help!

Following does not alleviate the problem, but it may shed some light on the underlying reason.
Phase One are fooling their customers with the promise of 16bit depth. However, in fact that is only 14 useful bits; the two low order bits *must not* be used, for they represent mainly the pecularities of the hardware.
The following capture is from a P25+ raw image (converted in DNG by the Adobe DNG converter), but only the two low order bits are processed. These should be random on their own, as theoretically they would represent the finest transitions. The two thin vertical lines show the seams between the chips; their location depends on the particular camera copy (I have seen one or two seams, i.e. the sensor is made out of two or three chips, but perhaps there can be more).
The horizontal stripes cause posterization if an extremely underexposed image's brightness gets adjusted; the seams can become visible as thin lines.
The image is in the "native" (landscape) orientation. The orangy rectangle is not part of the image.

    Hi
I just tried to install VS2013 update 1 ("Run As Administrator") from the ISO image and the installation finishes with a lot of messages like these:

My Visual Studio still seems to load following the failed installation, but I'm not sure if anything is broken yet.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?
    Thanks, Greg

    Hi Greg,
Most of the same error as far as I see are due to corrupt installer. Please try use fciv.ext tool from this site:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290/en-us
Then use sha-1 number to compare it with the one listed here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41650
    SHA-1: 51403CAF8E5E9799ACF1F3A0DA0E46390CD2FB16
If it is not the same, you have to redownload your ISO, it is corrupt.

  • Nesting of AGO or TODATE functions with differing level arguments is not supported

I have a column in BMM which calculates the Year-To-Date Sales. This function uses the ToDate function to caculate the YTD.
I need to develop another formula column which shows the last-year's YTD.
I develop this formula in BMM by AGO on the YTD column which already uses a ToDate function.
In BI Answers when selecting this column, results in the below message:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 22044] Nesting of AGO or TODATE functions with differing level arguments is not supported. (HY000)

To reply to my own question. It appears I got it working, that is, the error message problem is solved, but I still have questions on how to use these functions.
To get it to work, I added the primary key D_TIJD.TIJDKEY at the level of the lowest grain in my dimension (level tab).
What I still wonder is how to make it select the right values. I have the following hierarchy: bookyear - bookperiod - week. A bookperiod contains 4 or 5 weeks (4,4,5 in a quarter), so 12 periods in one year. I defined a measure at period level and another at that level with the ago function, that should return the figures for that same period of the year before. My first question is, whether to go back 12 periods or 52 weeks (which is the lowest grain in my dimension)?
The second question is how to use a combination of TODATE and AGO so that if I calculate the current period (of which only 2 weeks are passed), I also only want to include the same two weeks for that period one year ago in order to make a correct comparison. How do I do that???
