Any methodology to secure a document on Sourcing Approval ?

Hi All,
I have a use case where we need to secure a document/attachment on the Sourcing Approval. The need is to publish this document to supplier portal at the facility level only and, at the same time, restrict view from selected internal folks that also need to approve the Sourcing Approval. Originally we believed we could secure this particular document with SDM on the Sourcing Approval and have since found that "Publish to Supplier Portal" does not actually function as intuitively expected. Also found it noted in the documentation that it does not actually publish. I have also attempted to use OLS to secure an attachment on the Sourcing Approval, and found that OLS on attachments is a GSM security feature, not SCRM or Sourcing Approval. Seeking a work-around to secure documents or attachments on the Sourcing Approval to match our use case.

Hi. It doesn't look like there is a great solution for you with sourcing approvals. I would recommend submitting an enhancement request to allow you to use SDM or attachments on the sourcing approval with the proper supplier portal security.
A couple of questions that will help provide a workaround.
Will these docs be supplier specific? So for a spec, is it OK to share the docs across suppliers?
On average and on the high end, how many specs will a facility provide?
There are a few options each with thier own benefits and limitations:
Store the docs on the Facility
- If there are a lot of docs this might become difficult to manage
- You would have to upload the doc to each facility
- GSM users can be blocked from accessing the facility
Store the docs on the Spec
- Secure the doc with OLS so some GSM users can't access them
- Only one doc would need to be uploaded per spec, this might be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the use case
Use DRL
- I beleive this would be the most flexible approach but probably the most management
-I haven't thought this through fully but perhaps a catalog could be created for each supplier. This depends on how many you have and if suppliers are able to share the documents.
- You will be able to limit access to GSM users and give specific access to Suppliers.
- Again it might be a lot of management, but depending on the use case, it might be necessary - a lot of management that is
Please let me know if this helps at all.

  • Securing pdf document with digital signatures

I have a pdf document that has digital signatures. We need to secure it so no one who has input their digital signature can go back in later, delete their signature and then 're-sign' it. But I get an error message telling me I can't secure the document because it has digital signatures.
Is there any way to secure the document so only I can secure/unsecure it after digital signatures have been input?
    Thanks!

You don't need to use document encryption to lock the PDF file. You can set the signature field properties to mark all fields as read-only at signature creation. Try this:
Select the Tools > Toolbars > Advanced Editing menu item
Click the Select Object tool on the Advanced editing toolbar (it's the arrow icon)
Right mouse click on the signature field and select Properties from the pop-up menu
Select the Signed tab on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
Select the Mark as read-only radio button and All fields from the corresponding drop-down list
Click the Close button on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
Select the File > Save As menu item and save a copy (in other words, leave the original copy as is in case you find you locked yourself out of the document, that way you'll have a fall-back recovery option)
    Good luck,

  • Problem viewing secure PDF documents in Preview

I have recently written an ebook that I would like to sell online. The original document was created using Pages and saved as a standard PDF. So far so good.
As a way of trying to protect the book, I would like to have it password protected, which of course I can do in Preview, however, to use a stamping feature on the server that would print the buyer's name and email on the downloaded book, I am told that I need to save the PDF as Acrobat 5 or later.
The problem I am finding is that if I save a PDF in Acrobat using any kind of security it fails to view properly inside Preview. The page contents are reduced to miniscule items that are totally unusable, but those same files open perfectly inside Acrobat.
So far the only way I can get password protected PDF files to open properly in Preview is if they are saved in Preview, however, I have found that these files are not compatible with the PHP stamping feature on the server that would add the buyer's details.
Does anybody with knowledge of Acrobat and Preview understand what is happening here and how I can resolve this issue?
    Thanks
    Ashley

I have no solution, but reassurance that this is not an isolated incidence. I also have a pdf that is password protected and opens properly in Adobe Acrobat, but only displays the first page in Preview... Hope someone can shed some light on this!

  • Vendors Unable to Check-In Contract Documents (e-Sourcing 5.1 Patch 06)

Vendors Unable to Check-In Contract Documents (e-Sourcing 5.1 Patch 06)
When moving to patch 06 for e-Sourcing we found that Vendors were no longer able to check-in contract documents, even though they checked them out successfully.
On Patch 05 this was not an issue with the exact same configuration.
Has anyone had any encounters with this?
    - Is there a permission that needs to be set to something specific?   I tried create/read/edit but that doesn't seem to work.
    Thanks.

When working with a Master Agreement or Sub Agreement within e-Sourcing you can attach Contract Documents (Word files) that you and the vendor can collaboratively work on.
Just like a source control system you can check out a document to make edits to ensure that no one else makes edits at the same time.  You then must check back in the document to remove the 'lock'.
On patch level 06 we found that although Vendors could perform the Check-out procedure (On a Contract Document click Actions -> Check-Out) they are not permitted to then check-in the document (Actions -> Check-In).
Buyside users do not experience any issues with check-out/in.
Hope that helps clear up the issue.
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • Adobe Reader Crashes while opening Secure PDF Documents

    Hi,
I have Adobe Reader 8.1.2. Up until today, i was able to open secure PDF documents without any issue. Suddenly, it started to give me errors, saying "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and it needs to close. I have to tell Microsoft" and so on...
I tried re-installing 8.1.0, secure documents opened a few times and then the same problem returned. I can open normal PDF documents but the problem is with the secure ones.
    Rebooting, re-installing again didn't help.
What could be the issue and how to solve it? I have Trend Micro Antivirus s/w but i always had them all these days and everything was fine.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Can someone help me on this please?
I have tried removing Adobe Reader, re-install it but doesn't help. Secure documents do open sometimes but fail again. I have even tried removing Adobe Reader using MSI Cleanup Utility, no use.
The problem seems to be in the imapdb.dll. An error report is generated by Windows XP but it is rather large to fit in here.
I also Trend Micro Anti-Virus tool and it may have something to do with it is what i feel.
Any help on how to solve this will be great.
    Thanks

Thanks Phillip I tried that but it didn't work. Something really perplexing me though is why documents saved as PDF in Acrobat with a password for opening are completely failing to view properly when opened in Preview. Try creating a simple PDF document in Acrobat with a few pages and all you get is a huge blank space with a small black dot in the middle if you try to open that file in Preview. This was my experience and a friend has just tried as well with exactly the same result.
I have an ebook here that was password protected for opening and according to the properties it was saved as Acrobat 6, however this does open properly inside Preview and her one works properly. I've been through the settings though numerous times and I am truly baffled why it's proving such a problem. The book I have written is about photography and just about every photographer I know uses a Mac, so I cannot simply ignore this question.

  • "Document Security" and "Document Restrictions Summary" different

Why is there a mismatch of permissions between 'Document Security' and Document Restrictions Summary'?
I have a pdf file generated with the following security options enabled -- Printing, Commenting (Annotations), fill-in, Content Modification, Assembly. Even though these options show up as enabled in 'Document Security' section of Security tab in Properties (File->Properties->Security->Document Security), they are different to the ones in 'Document Restriction Summary'.
This results in the inability to use highlighting/commenting tools of Adobe Acrobat Reader (ver. 7 and 8).
The pdf file is generated using Open Office 3.0 Writer from a file in a .doc (word) format. I have also tried using tools like 'pdftk' with same results.
According to my interpretation, the 'Document Restrictions Summary' should be in tandem with the 'Document Security'. Am I missing something obvious here? Could anyone kindly clarify how to enable the commenting feature and use it within Acrobat Reader (the free tool)?
Needless to say this will be environment friendly option, which Adobe has been a strong advocate of.
    Rahul Iyer

Yes, thats right. I used Open Office 3 to generate the pdf. I have also tried using pdftk and Adobe Distiller 5 with the same result.
Your statement implies, the 'Adobe Reader' features cannot be fully utilized without a valid Adobe Acrobat Pro.
This is a document to which I have the source. I have been able to create the pdf with the required set of permissions based on standards. But I am being hassled because I didn't generate it with Adobe Pro! Well, I suppose this must have been a business decision, but its one thats standards contrary and morally low!
Adobe just lost an avid Reader user. I shall circulate my findings within my work and social circles. Thanks to competition and open source, I am sure to find a standards compliant reader without much delay.
Thanks for your help - graffiti

  • Compare two secured PDF documents

    Hi,
I am using a licensed version of Adobe acrobat 11.0 professional. I have a requirement of comparing two secured PDF documents (which have the lock symbol displayed). But, the 'compare documents' option does not allow comparing two Secured PDFs. It gives a message 'This operation is not permitted'. Is there a way I can compare them ?
Earlier, I was using the version 5.0 in which we can compare secured documents without any problem.

Actually, its asking for a password when i tried to do that. So, is there a way to do it through the acrobat 11.0 tool itself ? (This feature of comparing secured documents was present in the versions 5.0 & 6.0. But, in later versions, it was removed)

  • Item Level Security in Document Libraries

    Hi all,
I need to set up an Item level Security in Document Library in SharePoint 2007. Does this requirement have any OOTB Feature in SharePoint or through CUstomization is the only road.I have researched and found that it can be done using coding. But I didn't
find anything in OOTB.This feature is available OOTB for the lists but why can't it will be available for Document Libraries. Please help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Pa1 Kumar,
Item level security is available only for list not for document library. This is the design behavior. But don't worry you don't need to write any code for this because CODEPLEX solution is available for this.

  • How do I secure individual documents in Lion?

I'm sure this question has been answered but I can't seem to figure out how to secure individual documents in Lion.
    Here is what I'm trying to do;
I'm scanning or saving from various sources certain forms or files to Lion and keeping in documents. Which works great, but I can't figure out how to secure these documents individually.
Would someone mind pointing out my error and perhaps recommend a resource where I can learn more of these basic Mac operations?
    Thanks gang,

    Yes Grasshopper.
(the previous suggestions is good, too)
    1. open automator (it's in applications)
    2. when it asks you what you want to make, pick service.
    3. at the top, where it says "service receives selected", pick files or folders
    4. where it says "in", pick Finder.
4.1 on the left, under library, select files & folders
4.2 to the right, pick New Disc Image and drag it over to the right
    5. Size: Size disk image to fit contents
    6. check encrypt
    7. when done: unmount and return the image file
    8. close or save the window; give it a name, like "encrypt".
    9. try it out. Select the file you want to encrypt in the finder; control click on it to open the contextual menu; scroll down to services, and pick the service you just created.
    10. It should make a disc image and ask you to create a password.
    11. when you open the disc image, it will ask for the password, and then a virtual disc (looks like a little generic white drive) will open. In that virtual disc will be the decrypted file.
    12. you can delete the original file and work from the decrypted version in the virtual disc.
    13. When you close the decrypted version and either eject the virual disc (by dragging it to the trash) or restart or shut off your computer, the changes should be saved in the encrypted disc image.
    14. let me know how it works.

    Hi,
Are you running any Anti-virus software or do you have your firewall turned on? If so, disable them and try again. If that doesn't work, delete the iCloud account and then sign it back on again.
Make sure you are running the most current version of the iCloud Control Panel:

No, Apple can't help.  Just connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. If necessary, place the iPod in recovery mode.  For that mode see:

  • Any way to convert PDF document in to Tiff format with inbuilt IBR features

Is there any way to convert PDF document in to Tiff format with inbuilt IBR features?
In our Webcenter Portal app, we create the PDF document with the content of ADF pages and check it in UCM using RIDC api.
There will some batch job which will retrieve the documents from UCM and send them to client internal Document management system. The client / batch job will only process TIFF files. So we need a way to convert the PDF into TIFF. We are okie to have both PDF and TIFF stored in UCM.
When i have done research, i could only see components like PDFexport or TIFFConverter which only converts the other formats into PDF. But i am expecting a reverse conversion. Is it possible ? Thanks
