Any Mini Display Port to Display Port cable?

I am going to buy a new 30" DELL monitor which equipped with Display Port, but I cannot find any Mini Display Port to Display Port cable, so what can I do?
Don't tell me to buy a Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI cable, it is nonsense to change the type of connector and buy that expensive cable.

There is at least one that I know of.

I have it and am doing with it exactly what you want to do and it's working great.

I need to work on Adobe Premiere on my 2013 Mac Book Pro (with thunderbolt port) and display it on my 2010 iMac (with Mini DisplayPort) using Target Display Mode (TDM). I tried using a thunderbolt cable plus Option F2, but it didn't work. Will a Mini Display cable work? Any other suggestions?

2010 iMacs do not have Thunderbolt, they have mini-display ports. You are using the wrong connection, you need a mini display port to mini display port. Please read up on what Apple says in Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Display's fire wire port

Just bought a new mini with a 20 in Mac display. Since the only fire wire port is taken on the mini with the display wire, can you use the displays fire wire port for the external hard drive? Thanks

If you have only one FireWire device, you can plug it into the Mini, and leave the display's FireWire cable disconnected. If you have two devices, or the display's FireWire ports are in a more convenient location, plug the display's FireWire cable into the Mini and use the FireWire ports on the display.

  • Dual display with Lenovo USB Port Replicator 43R8770

    Hi,
I have installed the Lenovo USB port replicator using the 1.0.0.1 drivers.  I am running Windows XP on a Thinkpad X300.
I can successfully get into dual display mode but when I try to make the external monitor my primary display it will not work.  It just switches my primary monitor back the notebook LCD without displaying any errors.
If I disable the notebook display I can set the external as the primary but as long as the notebook is enable the external cannot be set as the primary.
Has anyone ever seen this before?

  • How can I use an iPad Mini as a external display for any new Vixia Series Camcorder?

    Hey Everyone,
I've worked with Vixia's previously and am looking to purchace one of my own, a G20 or G30 most likely.
I'm very interested in using an iPad Mini as an external display and wondering if anyone has had luck with this.
    Cheers and thank you!

do you mean you want to play your videos from your Vixia camcorder on your iPad mini? Well, that may be a little difficut. Because the video came from your camera may not be a very friendly format.
Here you can try install VLC on your iPad mini , VLC should support AVCHD (*.MTS) natively.
    If this can't work, then find yourself a free converter;
Handbrake, Any video converter ,ffMPEG etc.
If this can't wrok , or the output quality is jerky.
try this one free mts/m2ts converter from pav, I used it and considered to update it.

  • Mini bridge won't display any images.

I have adobe cs6 and the normal bridge opens fine but mini bridge will not display anything? Any ideas?

Big Bridge needs to be running for mini-bridge to work.  Look at this document and pay attention to comments regarding switchboard.

  • Mac Mini not transmitting through the DVI cable to the display.

I have been using my Mac Mini with a MAG display, no problem. While traveling I used a Samsung display for a month no problem. Now I am back home and the Mac Mini will not transmit a signal to the MAG display. The cable and DVI converter are good and work with the MAG when plugged into my laptop, but not when plugged into the Mac Mini. How do I fix this problem? Thanks.

Apple recommends starting the TV/display first. Connect the cable and adapter to the TV and turn on the TV.  Turn on the Mac mini and after it has had time to start up completely, connect the adapter to the Mac mini. Hopefully the mini gets the proper EDID signal from the display and adjusts its signal output accordingly.

  • Mac mini 2011 to displayport display

How do I connect the new Mac mini 2011 (thunderbolt port) to an displayport display?
What kind of cable do I need?

Somewhere else I found a hint to use a mini displayport to displayport cable and plug the mini displayport end into the thunderbolt port because of backward compatibility.
It is my understanding that is correct.
    From the Mac mini page;
    http://www.apple.com/macmini/design.html
    Many ports. Major possibilities.
Built-in Thunderbolt technology lets you daisy-chain up to six Thunderbolt peripherals, including the new Apple Thunderbolt Display, to a single port. It also supports Mini DisplayPort peripherals you might already have, including the Apple LED Cinema Display. The HDMI port lets you connect Mac mini to your HDTV with a single cable. And a built-in SDXC card slot makes speedy work of transferring photos and videos from your digital cameras.

  • Force headless Mini to recognize main display?

My church has a Mac Mini mounted WAY up high in the ceiling trusses between two wide-format projectors. We use a Matrox Triple-Head-2-Go to combine the two projector's images into one double-wide display. Because of it's remote location, we ran a gigabit CAT6 cable to the Mini and control it remotely via VNC.
What I would LOVE to be able to do is to somehow force the Mini into "seeing" a main display on the HDMI port, and treat the Mini-Displayport that feeds the Triple-Head-2-Go as the secondary display, even though we don't have a physical display connected to the HDMI port. That way, we can VNC into the main display without effecting what's on the projectors.
Is there some way to do that in software? Or is there some kind of "dummy" HDMI dongle I can plug in that would make the Mini think there's a display connected to it?
    Mark Petereit
    www.fwcflorence.com

Sorry, I guess I needed to provide more detail. I need to be able to VNC into the main account that's driving the output to the secondary monitor.
I'm using a software package called ProPresenter. I need it's main control panel on the primary monitor so it can run its output to the secondary monitor. Except that I won't actually have a physical monitor attached to serve as the primary monitor, but it's that primary "monitor" that I need to see when I VNC in.

  • Can mac mini use macbook's display?

Can mac mini use macbook's display? ie can it be added to Macbook as another drive?

No, it can't use the drive, but it can use the drive. You need a FireWire cable, plug them in to the same port on each device, and hold down the "t" key on the MacBook. The Mac mini should then see it as a hard drive. If you want to share the disc drive, on the MacBook open System Preferences, sharing, Remote Disk. In Finder, the Mac mini should see the MacBooks drive under "Remote Disc".

  • Mac Mini + 3x Apple Thunderbolt Displays?

Can you connect 3 Apple Thunderbolt displays with a single Mac mini?

Or for example can I use 2 apple thunderbolt displays + 1 HDMI display (for total 3)?
Yes for the mid 2011 Mac Mini with AMD graphics.  See footnote 3:
"Mac mini with AMD graphics can support an HDMI compatible device on its HDMI port when using two Thunderbolt displays."
Or use something like USB to display adaptors in order to have 3 displays total?
Yes, but with resolution and performance limitations.
    <http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/VIDU2DVIA/>
My ultimate objective is for 3 displays (e.g. 3 apple thunderbolt displays).
Would appreciate any assistance / recommendations on the best way to achieve this.
There is one Mac that can handle more than two Thunderbolt displays.

  • Mac mini with dual 2560x1600 displays

I'm considering buying a new Mac mini and I'm trying to figure out if it can drive my two 2560x1600 displays (Dell U3011 with DVI-D and HDMI inputs). As far as I can tell, I can connect one of them at 2560x1600 with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter, but the other display will have to use HDMI and would be stuck at 1900x1200. Is this the best that I can do with the Mac mini?  Are there any third party devices that will let me run both monitors at 2560x1600?

That is the best you can do it seems...

  • Mac Mini (Late 2014) 2 display HDMI and VGA

    Hi,
I got my new mac mini and i have 2 display. One is with HDMI, other is VGA.
I will use normal HDMI port and thunderbolt port with Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter from Apple to use them both, and i want to "Extend" my screen but the Apple guy on the store told me that "you only can duplicate the screen, can not extend it; both your HDMI and VGA monitors screen the same thing."
Is it correct? Because i think he is not sure about what he said it doesn't make sense to me.
    Regards.

I have no idea where what person is getting his information. I have used yur arrangement on my 2012 Mini which has one HDMI and one Thunderbolt port.
You sense is better than that person's. You you can have extended display with HDMI and VGA via mini displayport (plugs into Thunderbolt port) to VGA adopter
