Any more I can do to stop dropping connections and...

I'm hoping someone here can give me some pointers.
About a month ago my broadband speeds started dropping off and disconnecting.  I contacted BT and they said it was an issue with my home wiring as there was no fault they could see.  Despite the fact that with the hub connected to the test socket I was getting the same results.  As I need the internet for my studies I agreed to an engineer's visit.  He came the following week and said it was an issue with the exchnage and there was damp in the wires at the pole.  He replaced the master socket with one of the new split sockets and said after 10 days it would all be up to speed.
Well surprise surprise, it's not.
I spent a long time on the Phone today and again I was told there was no fault they could see and it had to be my internal wiring and I should upgrade to fibre optic (not really helpful as it will still come down the same old wires from the cabinet to my house).  My home hub 3 is plugged directly into the master socket now so I don't see how it can be my wiring.  Again I will have an engineer coming out next week.  In the meantime, is there anything else I can do to improve my connection?
I'll attach the speedtest result and my adsl noise thing.  I've noticed the noise margin is going down which I'm assuming is a good thing although I only discovered this after reading the forums in the last hour or so, so can't compare it to before.  The upload speed has been consistent at about 0.5 to 2Mbps for the last four days with a download profile of 2Mbps when it hasn't dropped off (I'm paying for 17Mbps btw, though I seldom get more than 8 or 9).
Look forward to getting some help on this!

OK, now connected to the test socket and not much change though the down noise margin is a bit lower.
