Any more info on Retina display optimized Photoshop?

Just checking back every couple of weeks (or months) to see if there is any more information regarding any availability of Photoshop CS6 optimized for Retina display capabilities?
I know that it was probably a rush job getting it ready for the Apple WWDC, but I've not heard any more about whether or not it's actually going to be available in the near or late future.
Anyone from marketing here? Any new info that might be shared?
Thanks,
Clinton

Last we heard here the released version works just fine on the Retina display, it just doesn't make use of the full resolution yet.
As there has been absolutely no Photoshop update (13.0.1 is still being prepared), there is nothing new, and Adobe never predicts when something will be ready.  I don't think we can even be sure 13.0.1 will add high resolution support for the Retina display either.
See the recent discussion here, noting the first real info is in post 8:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1033025

Is the disk cache and the memory cache enabled?
You can check these prefs on the about:config page.

  • Retina display and Photoshop?

I understand that Photoshop Elements (Adobe) is not sutiable for the retina display.
    Is this true?
If so: which Photoshop program is suitable?
    THANKS in advance

So I will start looking now for a Photoshop program which will work properly with the Retina.
The professional version of Photoshop does support the Retina display. But that's probably too expensive. However, Elements is based on the pro version so probably a future Elements version will support the Retina, but no one knows when that will come out.

  • V3 Caching - any more info?

    Hi all
I am just getting to grips with v3 and I can’t quite see the benefit of the partial region/page caching function. If it’s only really designed for regions containing static content, then I don’t have much use for it. Also what is the extra performance benefit when much of the static content (images, css, js) is cached on the client anyway.
I would be interested in any Bloggs, White Papers, How-to’s etc that cover this in more detail.
    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
    1. It's not really designed for static content. The help files suggest differently! It probably will not have the same performance improvement as for a cached report, chart or a dynamic PL/SQL region. But I think there are still a little performance gain. Why? It doesn't have to look for substitution, doesn't have to merge it with the template, ... If you can cache a hole page which just contains static content like navigation, lists, ... you should also see an improvement, because APEX doesn't have to loop though all it's meta-data to build the page.
But I have to admit that I haven't done a performance test to prove that.
    2. If I set page 0 (or regions on page 0) to cache, will this automatically cache those shared regions on other pages?Yes they will be cached there too.
    3. If I set a page to cache, will the regions cache automatically or are their settings independent. If you set a page to cached, the whole page is in the cache. It will not look at the individual regions anymore if it finds the page in the cache.
    4. If I set a region to cache that contains a paginated report, how does that work? And will it conflict with PPR?Caching for a region is ignored if the REQUEST is set. If you do pagination, you will see that this request is always issued with a request that contains the report region (eg.: pg_R_4177313812138401049)
    5. If you set the application to cache lots of data, by user; and you have a lot of users; is there an impact elsewhere? It depends if you are doing the caching "By User" or "application wide". There are reports available which show you the bytes used by the cached pages/regions => Application Reports/Activity/Cache*
    Hope that clarifies some issues

  • Is InDesign Retina Display Compatible?

I'm debating whether or not to upgrade to iMac 27" Retina Display vs regular Display. I'm primarily a print designer and I spend most of my time using InDesign. Is InDesign optimized for Retina now? What about Acrobat? I have heard these programs look terrible on a retina. What is the latest update? Does anyone know any reason why a Retina display would be a poor or excellent choice for a print designer?
    Your opinions are invited.

I just received my iMac 5k with the upgraded GPU, and I am actually having some issues. At the recommended resolution of 2560x1440 HiDPI, a page at 100% looks kind of faint or weak. Pan/zoom is a little laggy, but CC always is. At 2560x1440, everything is quick, but the on-screen rendering is a little rough (not so with the starter GPU, it looks better (have one at work)). I wonder if there is a way to change the display DPI in InDesign. So far tho, the non-HiDPI setting works best, but that seems wrong.

  • Flash SDK and MacBook Pro with Retina display major issues

    Hello,
Apple has recently released Macbook Pro's with Retina displays.
I have tested my Flash application on the new laptop, and this is what I observe:
My Flex SDK Flash application looks blurry and strange when I try to check it out from any Macbook Pro with Retina display, while looking sharp and OK from all other machines.
On this screenshot you can sort of see the issue:

Sure. LR 4.3 even specifically adds Retina support...

    2. It is no longer possible to click on anything in Flash Player Dialogs, such as:
    * Flash Player Settings
    * Webcam or microphone allow/deny dialog
    * All other dialogs (peer-to-peer access, etc)
This issue makes it impossible to use video chat applications on Macbook Pro Retina's because users can't click allow/deny when requested for audio/video access.
I have submitted reports about this to Adobe BugBase here:

@nvhdab - If you haven't already, can you please add a bug on your issue over at bugbase.adobe.com  If it's the same as 3224151 then it sounds like it's going to be fixed soon.  I'm trying to find out exactly when, but it might be in the 11.7 release now (4/2/2013 - Flash Player 11.7.700.170 Beta)
@scottclayton - I'm going to ask the team to revisit the click issue.  I don't have a retina display so I can't confirm the issue.  Thank you though for putting up the workaround.

  • Retina display support

    Hello,
I used Adobe Fireworks CS6 on my MacBook Pro Mid 2009 and all was right. Now I bought MacBook Pro with retina display and I have problems with Fireworks UI. All, included created design is not so sharp like another applications. Exist any update for support retina displays?
    Thank you for helping.

No. Fireworks is no longer updated or supported by Adobe, and development stopped in May 2013.

My brand new MacBook Pro retina display not charging the battery any more after 3 weeks...no green or red Led. Any one now about this problem? Thanks

Either the power brick is damaged, or the charging circuit is on the blink, or both. Either way, a trip to the Apple Store or the Apple Authorized Service Provider is in order, as this ain't no bargain basement toy.
In the meantime, can attempt an SMC Reset to see if it helps.

  • Photoshop resolution on Macbook Pro 15" Retina display too small

I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%)
If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly  – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display
Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see?
There doesn't seem to be any answer on the Adobe forum, so hopefully someone here can shed some light.

    quaetapo wrote:
Well that certainly helps in terms of making the image larger – only problem is with the low resolution there's a loss of clarity and pixelisation of the image; so not the same level of quality...
In System Preferences/Display, what resolution do you have your screen set to? Try changing that also to see if the two settings can work together. Also, since the vast majority of users (Mac or PC) don't have Retina Displays, isn't what you're seeing with Low Resolution checked in Photoshop closer to what most people will see? Remember that Apple's software, such as Safari, have been upgraded to take full advantage of the rMBP display; most other browsers, especially in Windows, haven't.
And if you want to tinker with the rMBP's resolution even further, check out "Eye-Friendly" in the App Store.

  • Photoshop on Retina Display

I'm thinking to buying new Mac book pro but I've heard photoshop doesn't look very well on the retina display.
    Is it true??
I use CS6 mainly but also use CS5 sometime.
Someone said there is a free update for CS6, so what happened CS5?
    Can't I use CS5 on the monitor?

I believe CS6 has retina support.  Neither CS5, or any other old version of Photoshop will ever have Retina Support.
As to how PS looks on a Retina screen, I believe it is OK for photo editing, but there are issues if you are a web developer - for obvious reasons.
I am sure someone with actual experience will be along to tell you more.
